Shades Of Gray (Master Backing Track Take 98)
When the world and I were young, just yesterday
Life was such a simple game a child could play
It was easy then to tell right from wrong
Easy then to tell weak from strong
When a man should stand and fight
Or just go along
But today, there is no day or night
Today, there is no dark or light
Today, there is no black or white
Only shades of gray
I remember when the answer seemed so clear
We had never lived with doubt, or tasted fear
It was easy then to tell truth from lies
Selling out from compromise
Who to love and who to hate
The foolish from the wise
But today, there is no day or night
Today, there is no dark or light
Today, there is no black or white
Only shades of gray
It was easy then to know what was fair
When to keep and when to share
How much to protect your heart
And how much to care
But today, there is no day or night
Today, there is no dark or light
Today, there is no black or white
Only shades of gray
Only shades of gray

Things and time was a getting slow let off the rhythm
Let the good time roll

So we really come to make it versatile
Because one of a kind we come to blow your mind
So you should hold you position
Yes, hold your position, aya
Hold your position, hold your position
Hold Your Position (cont'd) Stones
Skank steady, Skank Steady
I tell you rock the rhythm
You should skank down steady
You know you say, it heavier than lead
Kinda tougher than tough
You know that Jah, Jah covers
Since he stands over us
So hold your position
Hold your position
Move to the east, and you could a move to the west
Lyrics like this Jab know never go jest
Say chunk ice water say right to your chest
Intercity, outer city everywhere the best you better

Next Position Please
Words and music by rick nielsen
People all over the world
They get up they get down
They get in they get out
They get pushed, they go back
Start all over again
Till they get to the end
Im from a small town
Had a poor family
Mama was sick, papa worked the factory
I led a rich life
Never had to work hard
House in the country
Horses in my backyard
Next position please
Do I have to get down on my knees
Next position please
Im in a hurry, so hurry please
Read between the lines
Learn a new message
Read the latest book
Its a new twist
Be the first one to have a new ideal
Youll never get bored with mirrors on the ceiling
Next position please
Do I have to get down on my knees
Next position please
Im in a hurry, so hurry please
People all over the world
They get up they get down
They get in they get out
They get pushed, they go back
Start all over again
Till they get to the end
I wanna move up within the company
I can do better with an opportunity
Why dont they use me instead of abuse me?
Im ten out of ten, not some whore in some movie
I wanna be the biggest gun in the world
I wanna see the tits on every girl
Next position please
You have to get down on your knees
Next position please
Im in a hurry, so hurry please
(repeat to coda)

To Be Young Gifted And Black
(1969) nina simone, weldon irvine jr
To be young, gifted and black,
Oh what a lovely precious dream
To be young, gifted and black,
Open your heart to what I mean
In the whole world you know
There are billion boys and girls
Who are young, gifted and black,
And thats a fact!
Young, gifted and black
We must begin to tell our young
Theres a world waiting for you
This is a quest thats just begun
When you feel really low
Yeah, theres a great truth you should know
When youre young, gifted and black
Your souls intact
Young, gifted and black
How I long to know the truth
There are times when I look back
And I am haunted by my youth
Oh but my joy of today
Is that we can all be proud to say
To be young, gifted and black
Is where its at

If I Died Today
if i died today
what would you say
if i died today
what would you do
would you cry
because i left you alone
or would you hate me
because we are bound by blood
if i died today
would you kill yourself
because you failed as my gaurdian
if you died today
id weep black tears
and as my soul shattered
id wish to be with you again
in our other world
but if i died today
you would try to bring me bak
even if it killed you
but in the very end you would realize
all i wanted
was for you to live
and to protect my body
so that i may once again return.

I Heard You, Solemn-sweep Pipes Of The Organ
I HEARD you, solemn-sweet pipes of the organ, as last Sunday morn I
pass'd the church;
Winds of autumn!--as I walk'd the woods at dusk, I heard your long-
stretch'd sighs, up above, so mournful;
I heard the perfect Italian tenor, singing at the opera--I heard the
soprano in the midst of the quartet singing;
... Heart of my love!--you too I heard, murmuring low, through one of
the wrists around my head;
Heard the pulse of you, when all was still, ringing little bells last
night under my ear.

People Talk Of Love...
In today's world of greed,
In today's world of fraud,
In today's world of broken relations,
People talk of true love.
In today's world of materialism,
In today's world of selfishness,
In today's world of distress,
People talk of true love.
In today's world of mishappenings,
In today's world of misunderstandings,
In today's world of one- night stands,
People talk of true love.
People have the right to love;
If they honour the values and culture.
People have the right to love;
If they know the need of each other.
and people have the right to love
If they have faith that one day they 'll be together.

Suspicious Minds
Lately I've sat here afternoons
just listening to the
gluttonous newsmen argue
about fathers who kill
their wives and kids
then spirit off to Mexico.
My life's knee-deep
in fathers, embedded
in my own shaky tenor,
and though mine's as good as dead
my life still wakes up and pees.
My world's still on fire.
If I could be anywhere else
in the world, if I could be anything
but ham-handed today, I could cheer on
the vacationing comedian
who finds one this morning
hidden in a hut.
I could be vindicated.
What I mean is all this father-surrendering
gets me tired,
that it's getting old,
that it's the most difficult part of my day.

In this world of today
In this world of today
Youths fight
Adults shout
Children run and lie about
In this world of today
Kids are dying
Men are fighting
But we don't hear them crying
In this world of today
News reports talk s***
But what if they lived it
Maybe they would see
In this world of today
They lie to our face
They say its ok but we know it's a race
But what if we all took it at a steady pace
In this world today
We don't know what to say
But we keep up the fight
Protest with riots cause we want all our rights
