As a system of philosophy it is not like the Tower of Babel, so daring its high aim as to seek a shelter against God's anger; but it is like a pyramid poised on its apex.

From The Tower Of Babel

From the tower of babel
let me see you rise...
one by one
...by one.

From the tower of babel
let me see you
united...
divided...
united...
again and again
...and again.

From the tower of babel
let me see the world
lightened...
darkened...
lightened...
again and again
...and again.

From the tower of babel
let me see you rise
...my dear.

Today's family is built like a pyramid with all the intrafamilial rivalries, tensions, jealousies, angers, hatreds, loves and needs focused on the untrained, vulnerable, insecure, young, inexperienced and incompetent parental apex ... about whose incompetence our vaunted educational system does nothing.

Burj Khalifa

A tower reaching for the sky
The tallest in the world they say.
The tiny country of Dubai
is very proud they can display

A master piece in steel and glass
A building that must be world class
A tower meant to demonstrate
the power of this little State.

Luxury writ unashamed
Which some think can be blamed
for wrecking the economy.
Which could be true quite possibly.

Dubai is asking time to pay
the debts incurred along the way
It could be that they aimed to high
and now they’re forced to question why.

The Tower of Babel was destroyed.
They say because God was annoyed
at the arrogance of men.
Dubai has dared to try again.

World Concepts Belief Systems: Tip Of The Iceberg

world concepts belief systems
everything you know think have
been taught is a belief system
but apex tip of an unseen iceberg

everything which you have been shown
everything taught which you ever saw
everything which you now think known

was but apex tip of an unknown unseen iceberg
seen from far distant coastline sea shore
while continent iceberg was at a distance vast
bobbing up down over distant far horizon

Babel

KNOW ye in ages past that tower
By human hands built strong and high?
Arch over arch, with magic power,
Rose proudly each successive hour,
To reach the happy sky.

It rose, till human pride was crushed--
Quick came the unexpected change;
A moment every tone was hushed,
And then again they freely gushed,
But sounded wild and strange.

Loud, quick, and clear, each voice was heard,
Calling for lime, and stone, and wood,
All uttered words--but not one word;
More than the carol of a bird,
Their fellows understood.

Is there no Babel but that one,
The storied tower of other days?--
Where, round the giant pile of stone,
Pausing they stood--their labour done,
To listen in amaze.

Fair springs the tower of hope and fame,
When all our life is fairy land;
Till, scarcely knowing what to blame,
Our fellows cease to feel the same--
We cease to understand.

Then, when they coldly smile to hear
The burning dreams of earlier days;
The rapid fall from hope to fear,
When eyes whose every glance was dear,
Seem changing as they gaze:

Then, when we feel 'twere vain to speak
Of fervent hopes--aspirings high--
Of thoughts for which all words are weak--
Of wild far dreams, wherein we seek
Knowledge of earth and sky:

Of communings with nature's God,
When impulse deep the soul hath moved--

Of tears which sink within the sod,
Where, mingling with the valley clod,
Lies something we have loved:

Then cometh ours;--and better theirs--
Of stranger tongues together brought,
Than that in which we all have shares,
A Babel in a world of cares--
Of feeling and of thought.

A Tower Name

The Lord’s name
Power name
A tower name
A strong name
And power-tower name

A strong tower, the name
A safe place, the name
Good in every situation, the name
Has unmatched power, the name
And a place of fortification, the name

When spiritually attacked, to the name run
When the past foibles clouds the mind, to the name run
When disappointed, to the name run
When failure cripples in, to the name run
And when tempted, to the name run

In the name, security
In the name, safety
In the name, peace
In the name, strong power
And in the name, a strong tower

A strong tower, strong refuge
A strong tower, stout defense
A strong tower, powerful protection
A strong tower, shield from the past
And a strong tower, enemy at bay to put

Whatever enemy offensive, call the name
Like Joseph, make a dash to the name
So portable, so wherever, the tower name
A refuge from doubt, selfishness, malice
And a shelter from slenderness, loneliness, envy and the like

So as the devil launches attack
A run to the tower name make
Call upon the power name
Stay in the power-tower
And watch him, sulking away

The Bible assures us: “The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe” (Prov.18: 10, KJV) .

The Innovator

(A Pharaoh Speaks.)

I said, "Why should a pyramid
Stand always dully on its base?
I'll change it! Let the top be hid,
The bottom take the apex-place!"
And as I bade they did.

The people flocked in, scores on scores,
To see it balance on its tip.
They praised me with the praise that bores,
My godlike mind on every lip.
-- Until it fell, of course.

And then they took my body out
From my crushed palace, mad with rage,
-- Well, half the town WAS wrecked, no doubt --
Their crazy anger to assuage
By dragging it about.

The end? Foul birds defile my skull.
The new king's praises fill the land.
He clings to precept, simple, dull;
HIS pyramids on bases stand.
But -- Lord, how usual!

On Receiving A Book From Dante Rossetti

Since he is Poet of whom gods ordain
Some most anthropic and perhuman act
Whereby his manhood shall so man his fact
That but his man of man is born again,
And since humanity is most humane,
Not at our pyramid's base, where we have tact
Of dust and supersurge the common tract
Of being, but up there, where form doth reign
To apex, let a Poet ask no fame
But that which, high o'er floods of Life and Death
From singing arks Ararat echoeth
To Ararat, and let him rather be,
Oh Poet, writ on yonder page by thee
Than hear what vulgar breath should make his world-wide name.

A Pyramid

A Pyramid

Who ever gives a penny
To an idler
Idlling with fancy
High up in a pyramid
Socketing
One eye above
The other.
Crawing worms
Choose
But
Penny -hunting
Or noose-bunting.

Shelter

Well, Here I Am This Is My Shelter
Here I'm At One With These Trees
And All These Birds Sing To My Rhythms
And These Waves They Comfort Me
Do What You Will While Your Able
Find What It Is That You Seek
Only I'll Fly, Fly, Fly Above The Ocean
I Will Fly So High Above The Sea
If It's Shelter You're Searching For
The One That I Cannot Provide,
Well, I Wish You Well On Your Journey
I Hope Your Dreams They Come Alive
I Hope Your Dreams Back Down And They,
Well They Thrive
Do, Do, Do
Do, Do, Do
Do, Do, Do
Well, I Filled My Cup With Your Answers
I Filled My Cup With Your Lies
You Topped It Up With Your Mysteries
And All Those Secrets I denied
Do What You Will While Your Able
Find What It Is That You Seek
Only I'll Fly, Fly, Fly Above The Ocean
I Will Fly So High Above The Sea
If It's Shelter You're Searching For
The One That I Cannot Provide,
Well, I Wish You Well On Your Journey

Anger fills my heart and soul

Anger fills my heart and soul
Anger takes a mighty toll
Anger lessens but can never leave
Anger you hope to never receive,
Anger stays forever within
Anger acts with the might of all sin
Anger is deadly to all around
Anger gets mad at the thought of sound
Anger is the thoughts in my head
Anger that’s mine all should dread
Anger for me is different from you
Anger you see tells me what to do
Anger will sit and whisper in my ear
Anger he sits and tells me all that you fear,

Anger…
He is here
He’s here to stay
Anger is the hole
In which we lay
Anger is
And Anger will
Always be with us

He is in me, and he is in you
He can make you do
What he wants you to
Anger will make you
Make you cry
Anger can make you
Want to die
Anger can make you
Go insane
Anger….. ... A blood filled rain
No more anger
No more…..
Walk to the bright light
Shinning through that door…
Not knowing what’s in store
But even then
Anger lives on
But you… nevermore

My Anger

My anger wants to kill.
My anger wants to spill.
My anger wants to smash a wall.
My anger wants to make someone feel small.
My anger makes me carve my skin.
My anger is locked up within.
My anger is fierce and fatal.
My anger isn't stable.
When my anger is out stay away.
Because my anger destroys everything in its way.

My Babel Tower

Silver raindrops, the sky cries
On this mirror maze,

Lonely I feel, even if
My reflections are all around me,

Sad and empty inside,
Building a Babel tower,
With these mirror bricks!

The gods fight me,
Sending down a storm,

I fall...
And so does my tower of dreams...

Shards of mirror,
Shards of my reflection, in my skin...

Psalm 61

From the north and south I will cry to you
Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I
When my heart is overwhelmed and waters cover me
And it seems that I must surely die

From the east and the west I will cry to you
Shelter me from the storm I plea
When the dark clouds come and threaten to consume
O Lord shine your light on me

From the bottom of my heart I will cry to you
I will abide in the shelter of your wings
When the thunder roars and the lightning flashes
Forever your praises I shall sing

In all the earth I shall praise the Lord
For you are my strong high tower
No violent seas nor raging storms
Can match your mighty power

Ben Boyd's Tower

Ben Boyd's Tower is watching—
Watching o’er the sea;
Ben Boyd’s Tower is waiting
For her and me.
We do not know the day,
We do not know the hour,
But we know that we shall meet
By Ben Boyd’s Tower.

Moonlight peoples Boyd Tower,
Mystic are its walls;
Lightly dance the lovers
In its haunted halls.

Ben Boyd’s Tower is watching—
Watching o’er the foam;
Ben Boyd’s Tower is waiting
Till the “Wanderer” comes home.

O! he lay above us—
High above the surf—
Finger-nails and toe-caps
Digging in the turf.

We do not know the day,
We do not know the hour,
But Two and Two shall meet again
By Ben Boyd’s Tower.

There’s an ancient dame in Eden—
Basket on her arm—
And she goes down the Main Street
From the old, old farm.

Hood drawn on her forehead—
Withered dame and grey—
She never looks on Boyd Tower
Out across the Bay.

Bright eyes in the ballroom,
Coquetting with two,
Just for love of mischief,
As a girl will do.
A quarrel in the bar-room—
All within the hour—
And four men rode from Boyd Town
To Ben Boyd’s Tower.
