Perhaps two million years ago the creatures of a planet in some remote galaxy faced a musical crisis similar to that which we earthly composers face today.

Flyng At Night
five billion years away
a planet turns,
turning a million years
this side of the planet
and my heart beats
each beats
a million years
the other side of another planet
the distance that shortens
the years
as we watch a foreign body
five billion years away
a billion years passed
a universe caught in time
an eagle flaps its wing
each flag

that side of the planet

Flying at Night
Above us, stars. Beneath us, constellations.
Five billion miles away, a galaxy dies
like a snowflake falling on water. Below us,
some farmer, feeling the chill of that distant death,
snaps on his yard light, drawing his sheds and barn
back into the little system of his care.
All night, the cities, like shimmering novas,
tug with bright streets at lonely lights like his.

Two minds in Harmony for Tom Mariani
A myriad stars, bright points of light
are twinkling in the darkling sky
and many more beyond my sight
far from this island galaxy.
Another planet family
may orbit round some distant sun.
Considered mathematically
the odds are that there might be one.
Which is the same or similar
as those orbit our sun.
Perhaps some being sees our star
and sits and meditates upon.
The remote possibility.
a life form of a different sort
in some far distant galaxy.
A being capable of thought.
Is looking skywards wondering
about the stars he cannot see
and seriously pondering.
Upon the probability.
That sapient life is not confined
but wide spread through the universe.
A thought both beings keep in mind
A thought that others think perverse.
I wonder if one day there’ll
be some way we can communicate.
Perhaps by thought telepathy.
Now there’s something to contemplate.

One Similar Second
does the face
of every born child
in a similar second
vary because of
the minute space
each occupies
in the similar second?
does their life differ
because of the space
each of which carries
a different sun, moon,
and planet?
how much can a
second accommodate
in the creation of a planet?
two stones, a river, a mountain?
a single breath of god?
you find the answer in the faces
of all the children born in one
similar second

A small thing
Rewind, if you will,
Here, I'll help, hold my hand as
We walk with the Gods across
The vastnesses of existence to
A small, blue world where
Creatures live, fight, are born
And die. In their numberless hordes.
Wave on wave, repeating whilst
The galaxies move in the void and
The small, blue world spins
Round it's lifegiving sun, where
One of the creatures dies
And sinks to the bottom
Of it's ocean. Here to lie as
The planet breathes, evolves and
It's surface moves, land appears,
Disappears and falls again.
New creatures are born, evolve
Are made extinct,
And replaced again.
Now, this is where we came in…
Fast forward by two
Hundred million
Years
Give or take
And, on a building site
Where another new animal is
Leaving it's mark on the
Small, blue world -
Stand with me and hold a bone
From that first aquatic animal,
Freshly unearthed - and reach
Across time, past the movement of
Stars, the galaxy and space
And know that here, right now
You are a part of it.
I wonder if that Icthyosaur
Ever dreamed?

All I Knew
Woohoo woohoo woohoo
Here comes an honest looking man
With his round face and his fat hands
See the news, there he is
With the answers to the last quiz
I can never know what I then knew
In a million years
I can never know what I used to
In a million tears
Turn it on we will see
Everything today
Me and you will lose
Our marbles on the way
Ill remember you forever
til the day Im dead
Ill remember us together
And the things weve said
Ill spare a penny for my thoughts
And try to work out what I just bought
Let me think, let me think
Left swimming in an ice rink
Woohoo woohoo
I dont want to hear what someone has to say
Ill just write it down and throw it all away
I could never know what I then knew
In a million years
I could never know what I used to
In a million tears
Woohoo woohoo
Ill remember you forever
til the day Im dead
Ill remember us together
And the things weve said
I could never know what I then knew
In a million years
I could never know what I used to
In a million tears
In a million tears
In a million tears
In a million tears
In a million tears

Galaxy Song
When youre feeling inside out and insecure,
and life keeps getting you down.
When all lifes daily worrieshurry through your head.
You dont want to even get up.
You just lie around in bed.
When you feel you just cant take it anymore
And you wonder what on earth it is all foryour love lifes like a war zone
Your tvs on the blinkits enough to drive a drinking man to stop and take a
Think
just remember that you standing on a planet thats evolving, revolving at 900
Miles an hour.its orbiting at 19 miles a second, so its reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day.
In an outer spiral orb, at 40,000 miles an hour,
Of the galaxy we call the milky way
Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars.
Its a 100,000 light years side to side
It bulges in the middle 16,000 light years thick,
But out by us its just 3,000 light years wide.
Were 30,000 light years from galactic central point.
We go round every 200,000,000 years.
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.
Our universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whiz
As fast as it can go, the speed of light you know, 12,000,000 miles a minute,
And thats the fastest speed there is!
So, remember when youre feeling very small and insecure
How amazingly unlikely is your birth.
And pray that theres intelligent life somewhere up in space,
cause Im afraid that weve been cheated here on earth.

In this way, Edwin Hubble worked out the distances to nine different galaxies... We now know that our galaxy is only one of some hundred thousand million that can be seen using modern telescopes, each galaxy itself containing some hundred thousand million stars.

Galaxy
The Galaxy
On the terrace in the sun I closed my eyes
and saw coloured light dancing under my
eyelids like a galaxy that only existed inside
of me… or is the real galaxy an illusion.
Scientists watch stars in their great telescope
but only see what is in their heads…
And we agree because we too only see what
is in our own mind. Ruby stars and pink moons
and the dream of immortality that our souls
fly to a mysterious planet like our own where
death has been vanquished.

World Crisis
Over 46 million abortions per year and,
This sin has increased among the human;
All in a day's work and of the human crisis!
Noah begot three sons and,
We all do fall with our sins;
But the world crisis cannot be numbered.
Of aborted foetus and our history,
And behind close doors with our footprints;
But beware of the false prophets.
Thievery and fonication are part of us and,
Our sins are repeated over and over again!
With aborted body parts for sale,
But where are the surgical tongs?
Fear, anger and sadness;
We have violated the moral code;
And the world crisis does lie with us today.

Million Miles Away
Friday night, Id just got back
I had my eyes shut, was dreaming about the past
I thought about you while the radio played
Should have got loaded but for some reason I stayed
I started drifting to a different place
I realized I was falling off the face of the world
And there was nothing there to bring us back
cause youre a million miles away
A million miles away
And theres nothing there to bring us back today
Todayoh no
I took a ride and I went downtown
The streets were empty, there was no one around
I went to places that we used to go
Seen all the places that we used to know
Im at the wrong end of the looking glass
Im trying to hold on to the hands of the past and you
And theres nothing there to bring us back
cause youre a million miles away
A million miles away
And theres nothing there to bring us back today
Todayoh no
cause youre million miles away
A million miles away
Just a million miles away
A million miles away
And theres nothing there to bring us back today
Todayayayoh no

Discouraged From Mentioning Them
'Gray skies are gonna clear up.
Put on a happy face.
Wipe off the gloom and cheer'
Would you SHUT UP with that.
We are undergoing a crisis.
'My.
My, my, my.
Now
This would 'not' be the same crisis,
'We' were undergoing
When some were then,
Discouraged from mentioning them?
Back at a time when a stirring of them began?
And
Would this be the same crisis,
When mentioned
There was a reluctance,
To put them to an end? '
Why are you so negative?
As if to provoke a justification,
To dwell in acts of cynicism.
'You know
You are right.
You do have a point.
I will leave you with your positive outlook.
Since it saddens me to be so happy,
Knowing I can confront truth.
With a looking on the brighter side of life.
And be delusion free.
What was I thinking? '
Note:
'Gray skies are gonna clear up'
are lyrics from the musical Bye, Bye Birdie.
Put On A Happy Face is the title of that song.

Walking In Your Footsteps
Fifty million years ago
You walked upon the planet so,
Lord of all that you could see
Just a little bit like me
Walking in your footsteps
Hey mr. dinosaur
You really couldnt ask for more
You were gods favourite creature
But you didnt have a future
Walking in your footsteps
Hey mighty brontosaurus
Dont you have a lesson for us
You thought your rule would always last
There were no lessons in your past
You were built three stories high
They say you would not hurt a fly
If we explode the atom bomb
Would they say that we were dumb?
Walking in your footsteps
Fifty million years ago
They walked upon the planet so
They live in a museum
Its the only place youll see um.
Walking in your footsteps....
They say the meek shall inherit the earth....
Walking in your footsteps....

Galaxy Paradise
You are so unpredictable
When I am not
You are so irresistible
That I cant stop
You say my name
And I start walking on heaven
What flying saucers did you come here on
What extraterrestrial planet are you from
Youre much more than life
Youre from galaxy paradise
What flying saucers did you come here on
What will they say when they find that youre gone
Say youll stay in life
Queen from galaxy paradise
You are so unforgettable
And I will not
Our loves far more than sensual
And twice as hot
You touch my hand
And I know that well love forever
What flying saucers did you come here on
What extraterrestrial planet are you from
Youre much more than life
Youre from galaxy paradise
What flying saucers did you come here on
What will they say when they find that youre gone
Say youll stay in life
Queen from galaxy paradise

Two Faced Woman
Miles from home
So many things go round
So far - the fight in me so strong
Years of pain
Ive suffered all the same
Today - I know I will be near
You talk about romance
You blew your only chance
cause youre a two faced woman
But Im a three faced man
cause youre a two faced woman
I got a hangmans hand
Dirty tricks
I found out just in time
Enough - dont dare to cross the line
You - you fooled around
I found a way out
The tables turned - your bridges burned
You talk about romance
You blew your only chance
cause youre a two faced woman
But Im a three faced man
cause youre a two faced woman
I got a hangmans hand
cause youre a two faced woman
But Im a three faced man
cause youre a two faced woman
Youll live in nightmare land
Payback time - spin the dime
The balance overdue
Payback time - take a hike
You broke the golden rule
cause youre a two faced woman
But Im a three faced man
cause youre a two faced woman
I got a hangmans hand
cause youre a two faced woman
But Im a three faced man
cause youre a two faced woman
Youll live in nightmare land

What is the crisis
Who is there
To solve this.

Every peak crumbles
Four hundred million years ago,
Three hundred million years ago,
Two hundred million years ago,
And seventy million years ago,
The world had witnessed
In succession,
Major calamities of the major species,
The Dinosaur being the last victim.
Next, in midway, are we, the Homo sapiens?
