No, my degree was history, not the practice of art! I can't draw to save my life you know.

Practice Every Step
Practice every step.
Do not second guess what it takes.
Practice every step.
Practice every step.
There's no sleeping for someone who has a place to go,
So...
Practice every step.
Practice every step.
Focus on that goal,
And tighten on your hold,
And...
Practice every step.
Practice every step.
Practice every step.
Do not second guess what it takes.
Practice every step.
Practice every step.
Every journey taken,
Must be thought of as a race...
And,
Practice every step.
Practice every step.
There's no other way to straighten out a crooked road,
So...
Practice every step.
Practice every step.
No matter what you're told,
There will be some doubts and woes...
But you,
Practice every step.
Yes you,
Practice every step.
Woes you hold will eventually go,
So...
Practice every step.
Practice every step.
Practice every step.
Practice every step.

Degree In Life
There are some people
both old and young.
They’ve done something once
and the next minute they know all about it.
They say they have degrees in this and that.
In the biggest degree of them all
they have all fallen flat.
With the degree of life,
you first have to live it,
before you can get awarded that.
You have to suffer all
the indignations and pains
that there are there,
all the joys and the happiness,
triumphs can share.
You have to look into
the darkest soul
and know what goes on in there.
As for those who say they know it all,
those are the ones who have just stopped wetting the bed.
You’ll never have that degree
until you start living
and stop saying the world loves me.
Some say I’ve taken drugs.
What the hell has that got to do with it.
It only goes to show one thing,
how weak minded you are.
It isn’t a mark on the degree of life.
A degree of life measures
how strong you are in mind
and not how many
hallucinations you’ve had in your head.

Sonnet III
THE FORNARINA.
AND bless'd was she thou lovedst, for whose sake
Thy wit did veil in fanciful disguise
The answer which thou wert compell'd to make
To Rome's High Priest, and call'd her then 'Thine Eyes;'
Tho' of her life obscure there is no trace,
Save where its thread with THY bright history twines,--
Tho' all we know of her be that sweet face
Whose nameless beauty from thy canvass shines,--
Dependent still upon her Raphael's fame,
And but recorded by her low degree,
As one who had in life no higher claim
Than to be painted and be loved by thee;--
Yet would I be forgot, as she is now,
Once to have press'd my lips on that seraphic brow!

Qualified to Make Productive Contributions
Do you have a degree?
'A degree in what? '
You know?
Something that validates your intelligence!
'Oh...
Something that documents my discipline,
And education?
Something that verifies my verity,
To conform to the wholesomeness of humanity.
And I am now qualified to make productive contributions?
My life lived,
Has already provided the requirements.'
Uh...yeah...I guess.
Whatever that was you said.
'And...
I imagine you have at least 'one' degree? '
Of course!
I got me two.
And I'm gon' get me a job that pays.
'Hopefully not to teach English!
And...
Suppose I did not have that 'degree'.
Would that make my efforts less credible?
Would that make a fame or notoriety less worthy?
IF...
I should pursue that route.
I know this is difficult for you to believe...
But a degree doesn't measure my success felt.
And I feel pretty damn successful! '
So...
You 'do' have a degree?
'You've missed my point entirely.
And you...
Have been depicted as a scholar?
God...
Thank you for opening my mind,
And doors! '
OH!
So you've studied to be a minister?

I think my parents were happy that I'd gone to university and gotten a degree in history so they thought, 'Well if acting doesn't work for him, he can always become a history teacher or something.' Fortunately, the acting worked out.

Save Us
Too late to call for the priest
He is not here anymore
We look at the age of the beast
And weve seen its vast armies form
Hear our call
Chorus: please, save us
Please, save us
In permanent madness we live
No time for life and for love
To take is the rule, not to give
Insanity comes from below
To take us all
Chorus: please, save us
Please, save us
We believe that the phenomena of nature
Are the expression of infinitive intelligence
We express our belief that all forms of life
Are manifestations of spirit
And thus, all men are children of god
Far from down below one comes prepared to take us all
Waiting for his future and the final call
We stand on the edge of the world
Just one step more and we fall
Guide us and please take our hands
Without you were weak and alone
Hear our call
Chorus: please, save us
Please, save us
Now!
Save us--from the gods of thunder
Save us--from the dogs of war
Save us--from the creeping nightmares
Save us--from the evils course
Save us--from our own ignorance
Save us--from the man in black
Save us--from the desolation
Save us--from the hate attack
Save us--oh please
Save us--please save us
Save us--oh please
Save us--now!

No Voucher For You
Inspired by Lydon.
God save my bank
And its greedy regime,
They got all my cash
In their dirty stash.
God save my job!
There is a hungry mob,
They want to rob me,
Wanna outjob me.
You can tell 'em, mate, what you want
And you can tell 'em, mate, what you need –
There's no voucher – no voucher –
No voucher for you!
God save my tent –
I mean it, man!
The storm is coming,
Tent saves!
God save my wife,
My junk-food chef,
But I figure now,
For my problems she's deaf!
Again same history,
Another masquerade –
Life has left me behind
And all my friends are bribed!
With your future we can do anything,
You are searchin' where we've just been;
We're possessin' the future –
Your vouchers & your future!
God save my mind,
By all means now –
I've never dreamt
Of this!
God save my beer –
C'mon, beer, get near! –
There is no future
In near future!
No voucher for me,
No voucher for you.
Wrong future for you.

Save Your Love
You were my woman and I was your man
You were good lookin
You know I was your biggest fan
You tried to teach me things I already knew
When you couldnt reach me
Girl, I think you knew that we were through
Baby, its over
Save your love, save it, save it
Save your love, save it, save it
Save your love, I dont want it (save your love)
Save it for someone else (save it, save it)
Save your love, I dont need it (save your love)
Put it back on the shelf
For somebody else
You said you love me, you may have been right
But hangin above me, girl,
You know that we would fight
You tried to change me and mess up my mind
Now, dont rearrange me
And girl, you know thats why youre left behind
Its over now
Save your love, save it, save it
Save your love, save it, save it
Save your love, I dont want it (save your love)
Save it for someone else (save it, save it)
Save your love, I dont need it (save your love)
Put it back on the shelf
For somebody else
Girl, you know its over
We had some good times
But now theyre gone, so long
Save your love, save it, save it
Save your love, save it, save it
Save your love, I dont want it (save your love)
Save it for someone else (save it, save it)
Save your love, I dont need it (save your love)
Put it back on the shelf
For somebody else
Save your love, I dont want it (save your love)
Save it for someone else (save it, save it)
Save your love, I dont need it (save your love)
Girl, I dont want it, save your love
Save your love, I dont want it (save your love)
Save it for someone else (save it, save it)
Save your love, I dont need it (save your love)
Girl, I dont want it, save your love
Save your love, I dont want it (save your love)
Save it for someone else (save it, save it)
Save your love, I dont need it (save your love)
Girl, I dont want it, save your love

Barest Degree
I am gone, cant waste more time
I said, not quite joking
The fire has gone the big trees stand
The underground is smoking
Remember nothing youve been told
Means anything to me
And everything you hold is mine
In the barest degree
I walked up to the park
The lion rock was weeping
I walked on to the grave
The lizard king was sleeping
Remember nothing youve been told...
The days draw long, too long to count
Cushioned by the wasting
Restless age, the rusted temple
A place of my own making
No matter what else youve been told
Its still all up to me
And everything you own, is mine
In the barest degree, in the barest degree

The Sketching Class
I had a sketching class today,
Actually it was free, I did not pay
To draw a very naked man,
Who posed in his altogether tan.
I started with him forward facing,
But I' m not much good, I'm better at 'tracing',
So the tutor took me under his 'wing',
But even then I could not draw his 'thing',
So I moved my chair, face looking 'red',
And drew his brown buttocks instead,
So therefore, now it has been revealed,
Anatomy is not my field,
Drawing private parts, although quite OK,
I'll save up for another day.
Next week a 'still life' I will do,
Which I think is more sensible, don't you.

Cochise
Well I been watchin
While you been coughin
Ive been drinking life
While you been nausous
And so I drink to health
While you kill yourself
And I got just one thing
That I can offer
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me
Go and and save yourself
Take it out on me yea
Well Im not a martyr
Im not a prophet
And I wont preach to you
But heres a caution
You better understand
That I wont hold your hand
But if it helps you mend
Then I wont stop it
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me yea
Go if you want
And Ill see you in the bottom
Where you crawl
On my skin
And put the blame on me
So you dont feel a thing
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me yea

Lesson in Perspective #1
Art students learn early on
what perspective means
by dint of practice
ONE POINT PERSPECTIVE
An imaginary vanishing point
on the horizon takes on life
as students draw vertical lines
angling toward a meeting
at some distant point
far off the drawing paper
TWO POINT PERSPECTIVE
Pencil and straight edge
suffice as students put
pencil to paper drawing
cylinders in square boxes
like skeletons in coffins
floating on white sheets
STILL LIFE HOMEWORK
Lesson ends as students
are assigned to draw
a study done in pen
and india ink
of three cylinders
transformed into creamer,
cup and coffee pitcher
nestled together
in a still life

3rd May 1999
History records itself everywhere on this earth now and then,
And i have to donate my blood to save somebody's life;
And like the duty of nature to express one's love.
You may say, 'Dream lover come and rescue me'!
But the euphemisms around makes it hyperbole to think of;
SAnd with a favourable aura to crown the day,
Because the synonyms of the times are like the blood donations!
I will remember 3rd May 1999,
But with the mediocre and the deteriorations!
For a life needs to be save today and it needs blood.
