I think, with the gay liberation movement has had need for heroes and heroines, and it would be rather nice to have Abraham Lincoln as your poster boy, wouldn't it?

I teethed on books of heroes such as Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln and King David.
True Aussie Heroes And Heroines
From Victoria's bushfires great stories we hear
Stories of great courage in the face of fear
Stories of generosity and selflessness of the catastrophe abound
When heroes and heroines are needed they are to be found
Where hundreds of people and more than a million animals have died
And more than two thousand homes have been destroyed
Of courage and generosity the many cannot be denied
The heroes and heroines of Victoria's blackened countryside
The fire fighters and volunteers who risked their lives for others to save
Where courage is needed you will find the brave
The people who gave homes to the homeless the men and women who helped in every way
These are the true heroes and heroines of Australia's blackest ever day
The Aussie generosity and courage one has to admire
It surely did surface in Victoria's monster fire.

Stories mirror the front
Two heroes will love one heroine, but
One heroine will not love two heroes.
Two heroines will love one hero, but
One hero will not love two heroines.
This is what we show in stories.
Stories mirror not the irking truths.

Darwin and Lincoln - an ovation
Charles Darwin and Abraham Lincoln
Are, this year, two hundred years old.
Darwin’s theory shocked the religions.
Lincoln’s democracy shook the nations.
Darwin and Lincoln have made their enemies,
Who survive them to keep them alive.
Darwin and Lincoln made their theories,
Which survive them to keep them alive.
Darwin liberated us from ignorance
Let the vested interests die with age
Lincoln abolished slavery by law.
Let the spirit of tolerance rise to match.

Sex: Take It Easy
Once, the heroines showed their face
And offered their hand to heroes.
They were held in low esteem.
Now, the heroines bare their parts
Offer lips, hugs and embrace.
They are held in high esteem.
Eroticism finds its way to be casual.

Abraham Lincoln because he was a man filled with great compassion who believed that all men are created free and equal, and was not afraid to stand on that platform. The way Lincoln lived his life has served me well in mine.

I Respect Them
I respect them though the last post for them will not be played
And never in their honour will there be a parade
And yet their anthem for peace to my ears sounds so sweet
Those peace loving peace marchers who walk along the street.
They march on in their thousands up to the City Square
Their dream is for a peaceful World a common goal they share
And yet in their honour never a peace memorial day
The people who glorify war always seem to have their way.
Not seen as heroines or heroes medals they don't have to show
And few of their life stories would wish to read or know
They only wish to make peace with those known as the foe
And from their efforts only the flower of peace can grow.
Unsung heroes and heroines is how they seem to me
They only march for a better life and a World of war that's free
They only wish to send some positive energy in the balmy evening air
To the negative and lesser enlightened in the bigger World out there.

The liberation movement which I led in Algeria, the organization that I created to fight the French army, was at first a small movement of nothing at all. We were but some tens of people throughout Algeria, a territory that is five times the size of France.
