I find Indian music very funky. I mean it's very soulful, with their own kind of blues. But it's the only other school on the planet that develops improvisation to the high degree that you find in jazz music. So we have a lot of common ground.

Jazz is the big brother of the blues. If a guy's playing blues like we play, he's in high school. When he starts playing jazz it's like going on to college, to a school of higher learning.

The Sounds of Music
Music is everywhere and in every way
Music is filtered sound - sweetness to the ear
Music is the memory of every YESTERDAY
Music is melodius - the sounds we love to hear.
Vibrations sounding in a hollow tube
Vibrations echoing from a string that's bowed
Vibrations stiring in two hearts in tune
Vibrations in a seed - when it is sown!
Instrumental music - calms the mind
Instrumental music - stirs the muse
Instrumental music - can be kind
Instrumental music - cures the blues
Woodwind - Brass - Percussion - Vocal - Strings
Allegro - lento - molto forte or piano
In tonal interacton the orchestration sings
Tenor - alto - bass - and bel canto saprano
Man made music - scores of scores and arias
Pop - Jazz - Classic and - of course - the Blues
Man made music - passed from Sons to Fathers
Regge - Gamelin - Folk and Country muse.
Mozart - Uematzu - Straus - Isaac and Cooke
Merriwether - Unseld - Schmitt - Ibert and Chen
Messiaen - Unibe - Schultz - Ireland and Crook
All have ther pride of place - all have their ZEN!
Music can uplift the heart and soul
Music can enlighten all our minds
Music can encapsulate all our life - the whole
Music sure can help us - our way to love to find!
Never denigrade the least musician
Never ever pass a busker by
Never laugh at X-factor perdition
Just let the sounds of music make you FLY!

Common Ground
Written by neil diamond, tom hensley, and alan lindgren
If you love me,
Say you love me.
These are words we find hard to share.
Would you trust me?
Could I trust you?
Will you always want me there?
Or is this just some game called nothin goes right?
Is this just me to blame
For making these endless nights?
And who do we think we are,
Some kind of cosmic shooting stars?
No were not.
Havent got all that time.
Got to find a common ground,
Not the other way around
For you and i.
We need to walk on common ground.
We need to make a lovin sound.
While we got time,
We got to try.
Were you loving?
Was I caring?
These are feelings too hard to measure.
Ill be loving.
You be caring.
Will it always feel this way?
Or will we find the way to make it alright?
Will that sun come someday
To wake up this endless night?
And who do we think we are,
Some kind of cosmic shooting stars?
No, were not.
Havent got all that time.
Looking for a common ground,
Not the other way around
For you and i.
Got to find a common ground.
Need to make a lovin sound
While we got time,
You and i.
And we still have the time to make it work right,
Make that sun come to shine
And wake up this endless night.
And who do we think we are,
Some kind of cosmic shooting stars?
No were not.
Havent got all that time.
Got to find a common ground,
Not the other way around,
You and i.
Got to walk on common ground.
Got to make some lovin sounds.
We got time to look for some common ground,
Find a lovin sound,
You and i.
Lookin for a common ground,
Not the other way around
For you and i.
Got to walk on common ground,
You and i.

I've Got The Music In Me
Ain't got no trouble in my life
No foolish dream to make me cry
I'm never frightened or worried
You know I always get by.
I heat up
I cool down
Something gets in my way I go around it
Don't let life get me down
Gonna take it the way that I found it
I've got the music in me
I've got the music in me
I've got the music in me
I've got the music in me
I've got the music in me
I've got the music in me
You say that life is a circle
But that ain't the way that I found it
Oh...Gonna move in a straight line
Keeping my feet firmly on the ground
I heat up
I cool down
I got words in my head so I sing them
Don't let life get me down
I can't hold onto the blues so I play them
I've got the music in me
I've got the music in me
I've got the music in me
I've got the music in me
I've got the music in me
I've got the music in me

Let It All Be Music
Music is a mirror
Near around my soul
Music is the spirit
Come on let it roll
Music is my nature
People have you heard
Music is my future
Music is the world
Let it all be music
People sing a song
Let it all be music
Let us sing it on and on and on and on
Lets play the music
My kind of music
Lets play the music
Play it on
Lets play the music
My kind of music
Lets play the music
Play it on and on and on
Music isnt somewhere
Music turns you right
Music is a fever
Leads you day and night
Music is like heaven
Where you wanna be
Music is religion
Music sets you free
Let it all be music
People sing a song
Let it all be music
Let us sing it on and on and on and on
Lets play the music
My kind of music
Lets play the music
Play it on

My kind of music
Lets play the music

Music is today
Music is forever
Music is the way
Music is for women
Music is for men
Music is for children
Sing it all again

It is simple
Xylophones keep the music simple,
Whereas sound produced actual
Music. Music is like dance,
And dancing is so like the devils;
We can find more demons in the joy
Of the planet - the dying joy,
It dies due to the devil, but the music
Is kept by the xylophone -
It is simple.

Victor Should Have Been A Jazz Musician
I went to a concert, to see nina, simone,
The concert was over, there was still a band playing, the rap up,
The booguh played with his hands, I close my eyes, and look at him,
Victor should have been a jazz musician,
I said to myself, victor should have been a jazz musician,
I looked at his face, and I saw victor, looked at his smile, and I saw victor,
I looked at his hair, and thought,
Victor should have been a jazz musician,
Victor should have been a jazz musician,
And the people dancing on the floor, dancing on the floor, were so high,
You should have seen victor smile, you should have seen victor smile,
As they danced all the while all around on the floor, and he laughed,
Victor should have been a jazz musician,
Oh, victor should have been a jazz musician,
He was playing so nice, the jazz musician,
Ah, ah,
Hes living in a fast beat, in a city thats hot,
Telling all the latinos and puerto ricans, victor seems happy, but he doesnt even know himself, hes gotta look inside to know his first love,
Victor was a jazz musician, he was playing so nice, victor was a jazz musician, (? ) victor was a jazz musician,
Victor loves his music, he loves his music, somewhere, he plays his music, somewhere,
Victor is a jazz musician,
Jazz.

Music & Me
Weve been together for such a long time now
Music, music and me
Dont care wether all our songs rhyme
Now music, music and me
Only know wherever I go
Were as close as two friends can be
There have been others
But never two lovers
Like music, music and me
Grab a song and come along
You can sing your melody
In your mind you will find
A world of sweet harmony
Birds of a feather will fly together
Now music, music and me
Music and me

Add Some Music
The sunday mornin' gospel goes good with the soul
There's blues, folk, and country, and rock like a rollin' stone
The world could come together as one
If everybody under the sun
Add some music to your day
(Add some music add some add some music to your day)
A bob didit a bop didit
You'll hear it while you're walkin' by a neighbor's home
You'll hear it faintly in the distance when you're on the phone
You're sittin' in a dentist's chair
And they've got music for you there
To add some music
(Add some music add some add some music to your)
To your day
A bob didit a bop didit
Add some music music everywhere (add some music)
Add some add some add some add some music (add some music)
Your doctor knows it keeps you calm
Your preacher adds it to his psalms
So add some music
(Add some music add some add some music to your)
To your day
Music
(Add some music add some music)
When you're alone
(Add some music add some music)
Is like a companion
(Add some music add some music)
For your lonely soul
Oo oo oo woo oo woo oo oo oo oooo
When day is over (when day is over)
I close my tired eyes (I close my tired)
Music is in my soul
At a movie you can feel it touching your heart
And on every day of the summertime
You'll hear children chasing ice cream carts
They'll play it on your wedding day
There must be 'bout a million ways
To add some music
(Add some music add some add some music to your)
To your day
Add some music to your day
Add some music to your day
Add some music to your day
Add some music to your day
Add some music to your day

Funky Music
Chorus:
(I like funky music)
(I like funky music)
(I like funky music)
(I like funky music)
Everybody get on the floor
We got the groove u feel in your soul
When ure good n funky, u can say u know
Dance 2 the funky music, come on
Chorus
If u aint got no partner u can use your hair
Shake it like a hooker, baby, I dont care
Whatever u do, u got 2 make the people stare
Dance 2 the funky music, yeah
Chorus
This beat I got is specially designed (specially designed)
2 make u lose your phone number 2 somebody fine
The nastier u get, the funkier we got
My claim 2 fame is scandal, baby, and I aint here 2 stop (ow!)
(I like funky music)
(I like funky music)
I didnt come 2 trample on what u think is cool
I just wanna hip u 2 a brand new groove
If u like your funky mellow, this aint 4 u
Dance 2 the funky music, shoo-bed-ooh!
Yeah (chorus)
Uh-huh (uh!)
Uh, uh, uh-huh
Uh, uh-huh
Uh, uh, uh-huh
Yo, the time has come once again 2 send
A dance groove that wont end
Dont pretend that your feet is tired
And grab my hand girlfriend
And move it, baby, move it
I know u can do it
Move it, baby, move it
I know u can do it, come on
I said come on
{repeat chorus in bg till end}
Now let me tell u somethin
Huh, lookin so good on the floor
Make me wanna get 2 know u better
And dancin all up next 2 u
Is a feeling I can feel 4ever
Being 2gether and doing whats clever
And been so hard 2 stop it, uh
I know no one could top it
Huh, yeah
This groove is funky
Huh, yeah
Yo n.p.g. c drop it!
Huh, say what?
Huh, huh, say what?
Say, say what? uh, uh, uh
Say, say, say what? huh, uh, uh, uh
Yo, enough respect goes 2 the artist and the n.p.g. crew
And the whole new york and uptown
And across the country massive
Big up yourselves cuz its comin at cha loud

I have always been a person who is concerned with the dignity of jazz music and the way jazz musicians have been treated and are treated, and the fact that the music has not been given the kind of due that it deserves.

Six String Music
Six string music
By: jimmy buffett, g.e. smith
1994
Turn off the t.v.
Turn off the crap
Kick off your high heels
Climb up in my lap
Chorus:
And Ill play music
A song from me to you
Simple six string music
A ballad or the blues
No interruptions
>from the telephone
Dont need call waitin
Just you and me alone
Chorus:
And my six string music (six string music)
A song from me to you
Simple six string music (six string music)
A ballad or the blues
Oh I remember that night in africa
My daughter and my little guitar
Straddling the equator
The king of zanzibar
Those shy black hidden faces
They didnt know me from adams cat
But the words and the singin
And the people in a ring
And the whole night went like that
Now some folks like icing
Some folks like cake
Some swim in the ocean
Some paddle in a lake
Well you can get into beethoven
Or you can groove on jimmy reed
But keep it simple stupid
All we really need is
Chorus:
Six string music (six string music)
A song from me to you
Simple six string music (six string music)
A ballad or the blues
Six string music (six string music)
Aint no symphony
Its just six string music (six string music)
So elementary

Because, music is my eternal life.......
When there is a song about love
then the music does become a soul of my heart
When I hug the melody of music
then I feel the spirit of words, traveling with me
When the voice of music passes in the air
then my ears are listening to its harmony
When I close my eyes and feel the rhythm of its music
then I dream an angel of its music goes around me
Melody is my love and the eternal music is my life
The music has its own story that plays with amazing emotions
and I can hear its beautiful song with touching rhythms
Let it be symphony, classic, jazz or hard rock
but everyone loves music which has only one language
in this universe that has known as Sound of Music.
Anyone who has no interest themselves in music
is nothing but dead bodies on the ground.
Because music is my eternal life.

City of Jazz (in defiance of Katrina AKA the Beast)
In the land of Blues
There once came a beast
A wild, uncaring, disparaging scourge
She tore through the soul of city of gold
She drove every household to the cold
Then came the tears
All night and all day
Flooding the streets and swelling the blue bay
Then came the snakes
Both men and green
They lashed at the people with tainted white teeth.
But the land was strong
Full of ole passion and pride
And the city of golden jazz would not give up without a fight
The struggle was hard
And the people were weary
Together the music lifted thier sad souls
The more they sang the stronger they played
And the people drove the beast, the tears, and the snakes away
After they were gone
The jeweled people all see
The city of Jazz in the land of Blues was meant to be
And the music will play in the heart of New Orleans
The city of Jazz in the land of Blues will be
