I'm always sort of reflecting on what I do on what I've done. Usually before I make a new album, I'll listen to the previous albums just to see where I've been.

I got a chance to have my dream come true, and I wanted to make sure I made the decision as to when I dropped my last album. If I don't feel like this album is an incredible piece of work, then I'm cool with the albums I've done. I don't have to put out another album.

Song For The Life
This song appears on three albums, and was first released on the autograph album, and has also been released on the voice of america and the country roads collection albums.
I dont drink as much as I used to
Lately it just aint my style
And the hard times dont hurt like they used to
They pass quicker like when is a child
Somehow Ive learned to listen
For a sound like the sun goin down
In the magic the morning is bringing
It keeps my feet on the ground
Dont the midsummer days sit so heavy
But dont they flow like a breeze through your mind
And nothin occurs in a hurry
To make up for someones lost time
Somehow Ive learned to listen
For a sound like the sun goin down
In the magic the morning is bringing
It keeps my feet on the ground
Somehow Ive learned to listen
For a sound like the breeze dyin down
In the magic the morning is bringing
It keeps my feet on the ground

What One Man Can Do
This song appears on two albums, and was first released on the seasons of the heart album. it has also been released on the very best of john denver (double cd) album.
I suppose that there are those
Wholl say he had it easy
Had it made in fact
Before hed even begun
But they dont know the things I know
I was always with him
It may sound strange
We were more than friends
Its hard to tell the truth
When no one wants to listen
When no one really cares
Whats going on
And its hard to stand alone
When you need someone beside you
Your spirit and your faith
They must be strong
What one man can do is dream
What one man can do is love
What one man can do is change the world
And make it young again
Here you see what one man can do
As shaded as his eyes might be
Thats how bright his mind is
Thats how strong his love
For you and me
A friend to all the universe
Grandfather of the future
And everything I would like to be
What one man can do is dream
What one man can do is love
What one man can do is change the world
And make it young again
Here you see what one man can do
What one man can do is dream
What one man can do is love
What one man can do is change the world
And make it young again
Here you see what one man can do

Its cold here in the city
It always seems that way
And Ive been thinking about you almost everyday
Thinking about the good times
Thinking about the rain
Thinking about how bad it feels alone again
Im sorry for the way things are in china
Im sorry things aint what they used to be
But more than anything else
Im sorry for myself
cause youre not here with me
Our friends ask all about you
I say youre doing fine
And I expect to hear from you almost anytime
But they all know Im crying
I cant sleep at night
They all know Im dying down deep inside
Im sorry fro all the lies I told you
Im sorry for the things I didnt say
But more than anything else
Im sorry for myself
I cant believe you went away
Im sorry if I took some things for granted
Im sorry for the chains I put on you
But more than anything else
Im sorry for myself
For living without you

We were in the same band, but we're two completely different people. People have asked me to make comparisons with our albums, and I can't, because there's no comparison. Her album's okay. I don't think she's the best singer on Earth, but she's okay.

Born a poor young country boy
Mother natures son
All day long Im sitting singing songs for everyone
Sit beside a mountain stream
See her waters rise
Listen to the sound of pretty music as she flies
Find me in my field of grass
Mother natures son
Swaying daisies sing a lazy song beneath the sun

Ion albums.
I guess growing isnt hard to do
Just stand against the wall
Once I was just two feet high
Today Im six feet tall
But knowing who to listen to
Is something else again
Words just whistle round my head
Like seasons in the wind
All across the water the clouds are sailing
They wont let me look at the sky
All I want to do is try and find myself
Come and let me look in your eyes
In searching for the way to go
Ive followed all the rules
The way they say to chooses between
The wise men and the fools
I listen to the words they say
I read what I should read
I do whatevers right to do
Try to be what I should be
Someone let me in I think the sky is falling
Seems Ive gotten lost on my way
All I want to do is try and find myself
Come and let me look in your eyes
Ah, but wisdom isnt underground
Nor on a mountainside
And where am I to take myself
Theres no place here to hide
All across the universe the stars are fading
Seems weve gotten lost on our way
All I want to do is try and find myself
Come and let me look in your eyes
Come and let me look in your eyes
Come and let me look in your eyes

Its by far the hardest thing Ive ever done
To be so in love with you and so alone
Follow me where I go what I do and who I know
Make it part of you to be a part of me
Follow me up and down all the way and all around
Take my hand and say youll follow me
Its long been on my mind
You know its been a long, long time
Ive tried to find the way that I can make you understand
The way I feel about you and just how much I need you
To be there where I can talk to you
When theres no one else around
Follow me where I go what I do and who I know
Make it part of you to be a part of me
Follow me up and down all the way and all around
Take my hand and say youll follow me
You see Id like to share my life with you
And show you things Ive seen
Places that Im going to places where Ive been
To have you there beside me and never be alone
And all the time that youre with me
We will be at home
Follow me where I go what I do and who I know
Make it part of you to be a part of me
Follow me up and down all the way
Take my hand and I will follow you

Just a look in your eyes again
Just to lay in your arms
Just to be the first one always there for you
Just to live in your laughter
Just to sing in your heart
Just to be everyone of your dreams come true
Just to sit by your window
Just to touch in the night
Just to offer a prayer each day for you
Just to long for your kisses
Just to dream of your sighs
Just to know that Id give my life for you
For you for the rest of my life
For you all the best of my life
For you alone, only for you
Just to wake up each morning
Just to you by my side
Just to know that youre never really far away
Just a reason for living
Just to say I adore
Just to know that youre here in my heart to stay
For you for the rest of my life
For you all the best of my life
For you alone, only for you
Just the words of a love song
Just the beat of my heart
Just the pledge of my life, my love, for you

On the john denver collection - calypso album, as a live version.
The world is fast becoming younger
The news is all theyve ever known
Theyve seen the wars, the hurt, the hunger
How will they choose when they are grown
What do you tell forevers children
When its their turn to hurt and heal
Whatever spins a grim tornedo
Can also turn a potters wheel
Take a little clay
Put it on a wheel
Get a little hint
How God must feel
Give a little turn
Listen to a spin
Make it into the shape
You want it in
Tell with your life the bloody story
Teach to theyre dreams not burning steel
Its not in bombs where lies the glory
But in whats shattered on the field
The potters wheel takes love and caring
Skill and patience fast and slow
The works it makes are easily broken
Once they survive the potters throw
Take a little clay
Put it on a wheel
Get a little hint
How God must feel
Give a little turn
Listen to a spin
Make it into the shape
You want it in
Some day some children will be digging
In some long forgotten ground
And theyll find our civilisation
Or whats left of it to be found
Theyll find the weapons of destruction
But buried deeper in the hole
Theyll find a message and a promise
In the sand, the potters bowl
Take a little clay
Put it on a wheel
Get a little hint
How God must feel
Give a little turn
Listen to a spin
Make it into the shape
You want it in
Earth and fire and wind conspire
With human hands, and love, and fire

Its About Time
This song appears on two albums, and was first released on the its about time album, and has also been released on the country classics album.
Theres a full moon over india and gandhi lives again
Whos to say you have to lose for someone else to win
In the eyes of all the people the look is much the same
For the first is just the last one when you play a deadly game
Its about time we realize it were all in this together
Its about time we find out its all of us or none
Its about time we recognize it these changes in the weather
Its about time, its about changes and its about time
Theres a light in the vatican window for all the world to see
And a voice cries in the wilderness and sometimes he speaks for me
I suppose I love him most of all when he kneels to kiss the land
With his lips upon our mothers breast he makes his strongest stand
Its about time we start to see it the earth is our only home
Its about time we start to face it we cant make it here all alone
Its about time we start to listen to the voices in the wind
Its about time, its about changes and its about time
Theres a man who is my brother, I just dont know his name
But I know his home and family because I know we feel the same
And it hurts me when hes hungry and when his children cry
I too am a father and that little one is mine
Its about time we begin to turn the world around
Its about time we start to make it the dream weve always known
Its about time we start to live the family of man
Its about time, its about changes and its about time
Its about peace and its about plenty and its about time
Its about you and me together and its about time

Cowboys Delight
This song appears on two albums, and was first released on the windsong album, and has also been released on the country classics album.
Sing songs of the sunrise into the night
The stars as your timepiece, make it all right
Make friends with the darkness, talk to the moon
And when the light lifts, you can let out a tune
Ive been to the mountains, climbed through the sky
Shouldered their whiteness, watched their gold fly
Shared in their treasures, shook at their might
Spoke softly of wonders, cowboys delight
Sing songs of the sunrise into the night
A song of the mountain, cowboys delight
The stars as your timepiece will make it all right
Sing songs of the mountains, cowboys delight
