Whenever I hear someone say...

I become aware that person has compassion?

Today, I Met my Father
I have been waiting over twenty years for this day, and now it is finally here. I am excited but nervous. I got hundreds of questions to ask him. From do I have any other siblings, has he thought of me and the biggest question of all why did he leave me? My mom used to tell me I looked just like him and I wonder when I see him today will I see my features in him. Well I hear someone coming this way it must be him. Wow, all they gave me was a flag and some dog tags and took me to a white cross. Today I met my father and he was dead.

I heard about this story in the news today,
About a man who lost his senses, lost his way,
About a man who had his will taken away.
He took his life but not before he made them pay.

Even before the question put,
they’re full of quiet attention; something
is already being listened to.. makes
that space, in which a question
may be floated on the air..
tentatively perhaps, or self-concerned,
the question’s put; and listened to;
perhaps with gentle nod of head;
a keen attention; even a half-smile:
you and they are meeting now
in the fullness of the heart, in
a place that’s fully shared:
the teacher, almost eager, so it seems,
to hear more of your truth;
to hear the truth of you.
And as the question nears its end,
the answer floats upon the air
as if it and the question are but one;
the answer gently given, as if
already shared; not given,

Perhaps Today
Perhaps today, in the open sky above beyond the oceans gentle shore,
Perhaps today, from the clouds above we will hear that Blessed horn.
For the Church will hear the angel shout and the trumpet call of God,
And all alive in Christ will be lifted from this earth's lowly sod,
Perhaps today, we'll see the very one who has been Eternally Adored,
Perhaps today, up in the clouds we'll meet our Glorious Blessed Lord.
For those who died in Christ shall rise first at that Glorious sound,
Their bodies to be resurrected as they're extracted from the ground.
