It is commonly said that men are forward to believe whatever is connected with their own interest. This in common cases is true; but it is also true, that when some very great and unexpected good news is brought to us, we find it very difficult to credit it.

It Had to Come to Us This Way
It had to come to us this way.
Unexpected love.
It had to find us unprepared.
Unexpected love.
We did not know it had us picked.
When unexpected love,
Came to visit.
It had to come to us this way.
Unexpected love.
It had to find us unprepared.
Willing to accept,
How it crept upon us.
When all we felt was tried.
Staring in clear skies,
Sometimes for that 'one'.
That someone special to us to come.
And when it is done...
We become stunned.
It is familiar.
As if it begins where it 'had' begun!
It had to come to us this way.
Unexpected love.
Expecting it returned.
As it is to feed what is yearned.
Connecting two hearts burning!
When all we felt was tried,
Unexpected love...
Comes out of hiding!
It had to come to us this way.
If it had not...
We would find reasons,
To chase it away!
And that is why,
It had to come to us
This way...
Finding us in a receptive display,
And giving without thought to run.
Hoping love like this did come,
To stay!
It had to come to us this way,
Unexpected love...
Seldom drifts or fades!

When the firmament quivers with daylight's young beam
When the firmament quivers with daylight's young beam,
And the woodlands awaking burst into a hymn,
And the glow of the sky blazes back from the stream,
How the bright ones of heaven in the brightness grow dim.
Oh! 'tis sad, in that moment of glory and song,
To see, while the hill-tops are waiting the sun,
The glittering band that kept watch all night long
O'er Love and o'er Slumber, go out one by one:
Till the circle of ether, deep, ruddy, and vast,
Scarce glimmers with one of the train that were there;
And their leader the day-star, the brightest and last,
Twinkles faintly and fades in that desert of air.
Thus, Oblivion, from midst of whose shadow we came,
Steals o'er us again when life's twilight is gone;
And the crowd of bright names, in the heaven of fame,
Grow pale and are quenched as the years hasten on.
Let them fade--but we'll pray that the age, in whose flight,
Of ourselves and our friends the remembrance shall die
May rise o'er the world, with the gladness and light
Of the morning that withers the stars from the sky.

The Boy with Fire in His Eyes
The boy with fire in his eyes
Stands there waiting.
It is his soul inside;
It keeps him standing.
And if ever the fire goes out,
He will freeze in the cold.
It is his heat
And all that keeps him living.
Or if it never is put to use,
It will consume him;
He will burn to the ground
His ashes left behind.
But if the fire blazes,
If kindled, kept and carried,
If the boy with fire in his eyes
Finds life inside that fire,
His fire will light the world,
Will pierce the mist,
A fire to drive the dark away
Forever and ever more.

Expect the unexpected
Expect the unexpected
I may give up trying
But not today that’s for sure
Expect the unexpected
I may lose my nerve
But not today that’s for sure
Expect the unexpected
I may cry loud
But not today that’s for sure
Expect the unexpected
I may end this game
But not today that’s for sure

Christmas Carol
Ring out, ye bells!
All Nature swells
With gladness at the wondrous story, -
The world was at lorn,
But Christ is born
To change our sadness into glory.
Sing, earthlings, sing!
To-night a King
Hath come from heaven's high throne to bless us.
The outstretched hand
O'er all the land
Is raised in pity to caress us.
Come at His call;
Be joyful all;
Away with mourning and with sadness!
The heavenly choir
With holy fire
Their voices raise in songs of gladness.
The darkness breaks
And Dawn awakes,
Her cheeks suffused with youthful blushes.
The rocks and stones
In holy tones
Are singing sweeter than the thrushes.
Then why should we
In silence be,
When Nature lends her voice to praises;
When heaven and earth
Proclaim the truth
Of Him for whom that lone star blazes?
No, be not still,
But with a will
Strike all your harps and set them ringing;
On hill and heath
Let every breath
Throw all its power into singing!

Inspired by Issa - morning charcoal fire
morning charcoal fire
excitements of the new day
in the fiery sparks
morning charcoal fire
embers' sparks spread
excitements for the new day
morning charcoal fire
sparks greet and give
way to the new day
morning charcoal fire
first the sparks
then the warm new day
inspired by
morning's charcoal fire-
the mountain's pine breeze
wafting by

Living Happily Ever After
We used to strike sparks
off each other.
Our eyes would meet
or our hands,
& the blue lightning of love
would sear the air.
Now we are soft.
We loll
in the same sleepy bed,
skin of my skin,
hair of my head,
sweat of my sweat-
you are kin,
brother & mother
all in one,
husband, lover, muse & comforter;
I love you even better
without sparks.
We are pebbles in the tide
rolling against each other.
The surf crashes above us;
the irregular pulse
of the ocean drives our blood,
but we are growing smooth
against each other.
Are we living happily ever after?
What will happen
to my love of cataclysms?
My love of sparks & fire,
my love of ice?
Fellow pebble,
let us roll
against each other.
Perhaps the sparks are clearer
under water.

Lusty May
O LUSTY May, with Flora queen!
The balmy dropis from Phoebus sheen
Preluciand beams before the day:
By that Diana growis green
Through gladness of this lusty May.
Then Esperus, that is so bricht,
Til woful hairtis castis his light,
With bankis that bloomis on every brae;
And schouris are shed forth of their sicht
Through gladness of this lusty May.
Birdis on bewis of every birth,
Rejoicing notis makand their mirth
Richt plesantly upon the spray,
With flourishingis o'er field and firth
Through gladness of this lusty May.
All luvaris that are in care
To their ladies they do repair
In fresh morningis before the day,
And are in mirth ay mair and mair
Through gladness of this lusty May.

A Horseman At Night
In the darkness without any clear moon
I suddenly hear the gallop, the thunder
of horse hooves and there far below
I see a black horseman passing by,
With some red sparks coming from the quarts rocks
as if it comes straight from revelation
or an ancient war, I am astounded,
struggle with some fear to go on my way,
maybe it is a wanderer from death
but with him I have nothing in common,
I see the rider hang over to me
and my need suddenly becomes great
but when the moon appears unexpected
there is nothing at the troubled old brook.

My Heart
As there is depth to the ocean
There is an infinite calling to my heart:
The variety of sparks flying
Tragically evolve from one
To many
To all-consuming.
These sparks may be wings
(Sudden flutter of wings) ,
Sad large brown eyes
Of cattle, horse or donkey
Preceding their cruel bending
At the hands of humans;
The sparks can be stars
Or many stars, galaxies.
The dead are calling to me.
My heart is an open container.
It is not really my property;
It is the conclusion of my pain.

Sonnet-All Happen as God Wants
All things of Nature happen in God's ways;
Each seed and frond; each flower and tree-He grows;
All things must happen in His time and days;
Each life is kindled by the Lord, of course.
Man has a part in everything we see;
Yet, Nature takes the upper hand always;
Unexpected things happen too, may be;
God gives His grace to face well if man prays.
And grief and death must also come some day;
Each tumor grows as per the will of God;
All earthlings are destined to die some way;
We come from dust and must go back to clod.
Yet, prayer can make miracles happen;
Just like how fruits enlarge in size, ripen.

The Hope For A Reunion...
for one who believes in future reunions
departures are not
goodbyes
but merely temporary separations
for the moment
as soon as the right time comes in flashes of
light and alterations of gray and black
and dimmer
not to exclude the glimmer and the glamor
of some outburst of feelings like
lightning and sparks
we shall have the hope of meeting again
remembering
and opting to be one again with each other
like long lost friends meeting
in unexpected places of the heart
shaking hands
deciding to have coffee at the veranda
of a beach resort
sipping slowly what time is left
until then...

The Poem Comes Unexpected
THE POEM COMES UNEXPECTED
The Poem comes unexpected
When I have been waiting for it.
It writes itself
And then demands correction.
It is gone over and over again
Until it sounds right
It is read finally
As something complete
Its final line redeeming its first.
The Poem is what it
Here it is
Now.
