For 24 hours a day, for 10 years, all I thought about was being in a band. That's all I did. I had no other social life. I don't want my life to be like that now. I've spent the past 10 years having a real life as well. But Spandau Ballet is such a difficult shadow to outrun.

All The Years

You ask me what I think,
I tell you you ignore it.
The reasons for it make me crazy.
You ask me what is right,
Huh, you never hear it.
Youre never nowhere near it baby.
I spent my life believing,
It would not end this way.
All the years we wasted
All the years we tried
All the restless hours
All the times we cried.
You ask me what I want,
I got no answer.
I know Im only dancing faster.
So now were stuck with us,
With you and all your stories.
Whos the fool and whod the liar.
I spent my life believing
It would not end this way.
All the years we wasted
All the years we tried.
All the restless hours.
All the times we cried.
All the years we gambled.
All the years you lied.
All the hopeless dreamers.
All the dreams that died.
Repeat chorus

27 Years! ! ! ! !

27 years of my life-
I lived like a wife,
waiting for my husband kiss;
Which i always missed.

27 years of my life -
Waited all the nights,
To share my happiness and sadness;
And i felt it was madness.

27 years of my life-
I spent with unknown husband,
Who has time to work;
And I felt like a jerk.

27 years of my life-
I spent with boredom,
And being a loyal wife;
I lost my freedom.

After 27 years of my life-
I still feel something missing,
I still keep looking;
And still waiting.
And the next 27 years will pass by:
Without my husband near by.

Passing Me

In a hurry I ran down the street
People were blurs that I did meet
But as quick as I was and twice as fast
I could not outrun my sins or even my past.
I thought I had left them so many years ago
When I was younger and didn't think about growing old
Doing the things which I should never had done
Not knowing that one day they would be a rerun.
But now they keep passing me again and again
Which were my lies and evils which are a sin
Though as fast as I was or that I could ever be
They always catch up, and then they pass me.
How I wish that I was faster than they were
But that is a stupid wish, that I once had observed
Now I am hoping and praying that they never existed
But then one day I know that they all will be listed.
Now wherever that I run my past is already there
With no remorse or humility, sadness or even care
So I guess that I must run for the rest of my life
Or maybe hide away somewhere, where there is no strife.
I now look over my shoulder whenever that I can
As I try to prepare myself wherever that I am
Hopefully my strength and endurance will forever last
But sadly the faster that I run, I still can't outrun my past.

Life Is Difficult

Life is difficult-
Surprises are not always what we hoped they would be-

People misunderstand us-
We imagine we are kind
And they understand us differently-

Some problems never get solved
Some remain lingering for years-

There are cruel people in the world
Stupid ones also-

The fair do not always get the prize
The pushers push push push the good guys aside-
We see the Evil grinning and we cannot touch them-

All kinds of Hopes we have are disappointed-
Rejection is the Fate of everyone at one time or another

One has to try and try and try
And often that is not enough-

Life is difficult
And after a certain age is more difficult
And when young is also difficult-

Life is difficult in some time or some way for all of us
It just is-

Life is difficult
And even when it seems not to be
There is another time coming-

Life is difficult
And so long as we live
It will be.

Las Palabras De Amor

Guilt stains on my pillow
Blood on ny terraces
Torsos in my closet
Shadows from my past live is real
Life is real, life is real, so real
Sleeping is my leisure
Waking up in a minefield
Dream is just a pleasure dome
Love is a roulette wheel - life is real
Life is real, life is real, oh yeah
Success is my breathing space
I brought it on myself
I will price it
I will cash it
I can take it or leave it
Loneliness is my hiding place
Breastfeeding myself
What more can I say
I have swallowed the bitter pill
I can taste it, I can taste it
Life is real, life is real, life is real
Music will be my mistres
Loving like a whore
Lennon is a genius
Living in every pore
Life is real, life is real, life is real, so real
Life is cruel
Life is a bitch
Life is real - so real

Midnight In The Park

Real life may not be a whirlwind romance.
Real life may not be running off to a hidden cabin.
Real life may not be a Cinderella fairy tail.

For me real life may not be for very long at all.
For me a kiss in the moonlight is truly magical.
I can live an entire lifetime of romance in one evening.

For a few brief hours I can be content in real life.
For a few brief hours, real life is holding hands
at midnight walking in a park.

Then we part ways again, but we had midnight in the park.

All My Life

All my life, without a doubt I give you
All my life, now and forever till the
Day I die, you and I will share
All the things this changing world can offer
So I sing, Id be happy just to
Stay this way, spend each day, with you
There was a time, that I just thought
That I would lose my mind
You came along and then the sun did shine
We started on our way
I do recall that every moment spent
Was wasted time but then I chose to lay it on the line
I put the past away
I put the past away
I put the past away
All my life, I will carry you through
All my life, between each hour of the passing days
I will stay with you
There was a time, that I just thought
That I would lose my mind
You came along and then the sun did shine
We started on our way
I do recall that every moment spent
Was wasted time then I chose to lay it on the line
I want this all my life
I want this all my life
I want this all my life
I want this all my life
I want this all my life
I wanted this all my life

How I'm Able to Accomplish What I've Done

All through my life I've heard it stated,
Who is doing 'what' for me.
And how my life has been made easy...
By the very same folks,
Who haven't been in my life for many years.
And I love and miss them.

But facts are what they are!
Most of my life has been spent,
In the practice of assisting other people.
Carrying oil cans and doing those chores.
Because I was the only man in my household.
And my mom didn't 'shrimp' on what she expected,
Of me.
That's how I remember my 'cushioned' life.

'But...
Son,
You have been able to do this...
With such effortless cool.
I dig it and it's hip! '

~But, My Father...
Without You,
None of what I've done would have been accomplished.
Without You...
I'd just be another fool complaining about my life! ~

'Ssssshhhh...
Yeah...
They do complain a lot, huh?
Keep your voice down!
I thought you said you wanted to keep your activities mysterious? '

~Yeah, I do...
But Geessshhh,
Don't these folks know...
How I'm able to accomplish what I've done? ~

'Not necessarily!
If I had a nickel for every hypocrite professing their faith,
And devotion to Me...
I'd be able to end the economic crisis within hours!
If not immediately.'

Best Years Of My Life (Album Version)

(Will Jennings/Stephen Allen Davis)
Everytime I feel how life goes by
I recall the scenes that never die
One fine day
One fine night
You loving me
On and on and on
We took our love as far as love can go
You've given me the best years of my life
When I play my memories again
I feel all the pleasure and the pain
Love can hurt
Love can heal
Oh, how we hurt and healed ourselves again
We took our souls as far as souls can go
You've given me the best years of my life
You've given me the best years of my life
Bring on the storm
We'll see it through
We'll take it all
All life can do
Right to the end
We'll say let's begin
You've given me the best years of my life
I wanna thank you
I wanna thank you
You've given me the best years of my life
I wanna thank you
For the best years of my life

In My Advancing Years

And,
In my advancing years...
Those struggles I feared,
Are memories of my past.

I ask and I've kept,
That peace of mind once out of my reach.
I desire more to explore,
A life now I've allowed to teach.
Instead of a search I keep,
In continued excuses met to refuse...
A life given to me.
And one I discovered I like,
In my advancing years.

And,
In my advancing years...
Tears that once flowed,
For those I miss so much in my life.
Today,
I've come to realize my life should be lived...
And not to fight,
Against...
The acceptance of surprises.
And I should stop sitting on a fence
In those disguises to hide.

In my advancing years,
I've learned to dance...
Until the music stops.
And I'm no longer here...
To hear as clear as I do now.
With ears that will be silenced.
And I should not wait,
Or anticipate the outcome.

But I will instill adventure.
In my advancing years uncensored.

Joy of a Lifetime

The joy of a lifetime
Is the success one makes of life.
Success is the result of handwork and luck.
Three stages there are in life.
Comes first the prime of life,
When on bubble with life and enthusiasm.
And boils with youthful exuberance..
Next comes mid age, age for reasoning,
When one through life is half spent.
Last comes old age, age of experience,
When one is close to the grave.
Success can be attained at anytime.
But nothing can equal he prime of life,
When one still has so many years ahead.
And when at this time success smiles on you,
Then to the Almighty be the glory,
The gratitude and appreciation,
For a life well spent and full of success.

The life is not the calendar years.

When you do what you have to,
You will have spent your life.
When you do what you desire to,
You will have enjoyed your life.
While doing what you hate to do,
You will have wasted your life.
Your life is not the calendar years.

She Needs Years To Make A Poem

i am not surprised with what she just said
to make a poem of her life
she needs years and years
perhaps a hundred years
if need be to make the best poem
of her life

her words are days and days
her stanzas her dwelling place
her commas and punctuations
her naps and long hours of sleep
her poem is her life

she lives inside it
she breathes every word every letter
and when she reads it when it is finished
she speaks her last, hounding silence

Life Is Lost In You

Life is difficult as we know it is now
Life is rough as we spiral out of control
Life is mean as the people who make it mean
Life is hard living on your own
Life is scary when you get hurt
Life is real and no can change that
Life is kind when you find your first love
Life is caring when he holds you in his arms
Life is nice and he will protect you in anyway
Life is easy with the help of the ones around you
Life is bold with the ones in it
Life is good when people are good
Life is happy when you are happy
Life is unbearable when you cry
Life is crashing as you know it
Life is holding you down
Life is causing problems
Life is and can be turned around
