Ideally citizens are to think of themselves as if they were legislators and ask themselves what statutes, supported by what reasons satisfying the criterion of reciprocity, they would think is most reasonable to enact.

For many of those who had historically supported welfare programs in the broadest sense, it was perfectly reasonable to enact legislation in which poor people were the objects of efforts to assist them.

To a reasonable creature, that alone is insupportable which is unreasonable but everything reasonable may be supported.
If you think aficionados of a living Constitution want to bring you flexibility, think again. You think the death penalty is a good idea? Persuade your fellow citizens to adopt it. You want a right to abortion? Persuade your fellow citizens and enact it. That's flexibility.

A reasonable doubt is nothing more than a doubt for which reasons can be given. The fact that 1 or 2 men out of 12 differ from the others does not establish that their doubts are reasonable.

Sonnet: There Are Reasons for All Things
There must be reasons for the shaking leaves;
There must be reasons for the swaying trees;
There must be reasons for the drying sheaves;
There must be reasons causing any breeze.
There must be reasons for the waves at sea;
There must be reasons for ripples in pond;
There must be reasons for the sea briny;
There must be reasons for a mutual bond.
There must be reasons for the changing climes;
There must be reasons for both drought and rain;
There must be reasons for good and bad times;
There must be reasons for a boon or bane.
There must be reasons for all things on earth;
But not much reasons why men sin since birth!

To Enact
To use statistics like fanatics.
To control and to attack!
With one purpose to achieve...
The holding of 'some' people back!
To enact...
A meaningful existence.
To enact...
A control without resistance.
To enact...
A rule no one refuses.
No matter who's abused.
Or who's left to be confused!
To enact...
A meaningful existence.
To enact...
A control without resistance.
To enact...
A rule no one refuses.
No matter who's abused.
Or who's left to be confused!
To use statistics like fanatics.
To control and to attack!
With one purpose to achieve...
The holding of 'some' people back!
And this is done effectively...
To hide this as a fact!
To enact...
A meaningful existence.
To enact...
A control without resistance.
To enact...
A rule no one refuses.
No matter who's abused.
Or who's left to be confused!
To enact...
A meaningful existence.
To enact...
A control without resistance.
To enact...
A rule no one refuses.
No matter who's abused.
Or who's left to be confused!
To enact,
Like a coup...
A meaningful existence.
To enact,
As they choose...
Control without resistance.
To enact...
A rule no one refuses.
No matter who's abused.
Or who's left to be confused,
Or fooled!

There is a criterion by which you can judge whether the thoughts you are thinking and the things you are doing are right for you. The criterion is: Have they brought you inner peace?

The acknowledged legislators of the world take the world as given. They dislike mysteries, for mysteries cannot be coded, or legislated, and wonder cannot be made into law. And so these legislators police the accepted frontiers of things.
There's Not Too Many Reasons
There's not too many reasons,
I would...
Set aside my pride.
And there's...
Not too many reasons,
I would...
Not have a peaceful sleep at night.
No!
There's not too many reasons,
Why I...
Wouldn't eat or wish to feel that need.
Or...
Feel a hopelessness inside me,
Without you.
No!
There's not too many reasons,
Why I could not cope.
And...
There's not too many reasons,
Why I'd give up hope.
And...
There's not too many reasons,
Why I'd be on knees.
No...
There's not too many reasons,
Why I could not eat.
And...
There's not too many reasons,
Why I could not sleep.
Or believe there's a me to live and breathe,
Without you.

Just as the 99% of Soviet citizens who supported the Soviet regime in 1985 was no indication of what the people inside the USSR really thought, the army of true believers that we think we see in the Arab world is an illusion.

… Too Many Gods
… too many gods
Too many think that they are God
Too many think that they know God
Too many think that they see God
Too many talk like they know God
Too many sins
Too many Satans
Too many prosecutors
Too many executors
Too many judges
Too many smudges
Too many think that they are right
Too many, for the wrong reasons, fight
Like there is no tomorrow
What a shame! What a sorrow!
Too many think that they know more than they know
Thank God, they can barely see the peacock and the crow
In front of their nose. The dagger behind the head is not
Under the radar. The moon sees everything. The sun is hot
For countless unexplained reasons
Both have an innocuous impact on the seasons
Too many false geniuses
To many mad scientists
Too many strange analysts
With worthless doctoral degrees
Human being is a thinking piece of meat
With unusual behaviors that meet
No coherent criterion, and at times violate
Rules, laws, theorems and the advices of the prelate.
Too many think that they are God
And few are willing to obey the commandments
Too many think that they know God
And few honestly believe in the testaments
Too many think that they know God
And they die and disappear like the smoker's puff
Too many behave like they know God
Think about the whole thing: honestly, this is playing bluff.

Best Wishes
Those are the best wishes given to me,
An acculturation takes place for the sight;
Difficulty and dignity are rapid and dirty,
One is a craftsman, a crayon to be bought bright.
By candlelight we bite the food of cosey people,
Diplomacy is the subject, the topic of war,
My time is shared by those in war even able,
This is them, the able ones who collapse from afar.
Let the wish of an accent be charred like a single act,
Adaptable men shall forgive me for themselves;
Behaviour is that of an ability to enact,
To enact is strangely to disperse before he delves.

Before this learning experience, I had assumed that with regard to programs that sought to help people out of poverty, the political world was essentially divided into two camps: conservatives who opposed these for a variety of reasons, and liberals who supported them.

Citizens
citizens...
of America, of Russia,
of Africa, of China,
of Syria, of Israel,
of France, of Italy....
no more!
citizens of the world!
no longer can one country
make it at the expense
of all others....
the walls between us were lies,
and they have fallen....
now we are a people
whose homeland is family!
there's no other way
humanity can survive!
citizens of the world!

Things Happen For Their Reasons
Things happen for their reasons.
And there is no need to make excuses,
For the obviousness...
Of those mistakes made.
Things happen for their reasons.
And,
What is there to say...
That can excuse mistakes away.
Stop that need to medicate.
Things happen for their reasons.
Why waste time in prolonged debates.
Thing happen for their reasons.
What is the purpose for seeking escapes.
Things happen for their reasons.
Acceptance eases,
The facing of one's fate.
Things happen for their reasons.
They happen for their reasons.
Stop that need to feed on grief.
Things happen for their reasons.
Why squeeze a healing wound to bleed.
Things happen for their reasons
They happen for their reasons.
And aging doesn't make one safe.
Or offer escapades as a gateway to charade.
Things happen for their reasons.
They happen for their reasons.
Things happen for their reasons.
And there is no need to make excuses,
For the obviousness...
Of those mistakes made.
Even while one ages,
With a life reminisced played on many stages...
Try their best to gracefully accept,
Things happen for their reasons.
And those experienced,
Eventually see this.
Things happen for their reasons.
And in the living of one's life...
A discovery reveals,
Those reasons with insight.

There is much modern music that is better adapted to a wind combination than to a string, although for obvious reasons originally scored for an orchestra. If in such cases the interpretation is equal to the composition the balance of a wind combination is more satisfying.
