I learned from the example of my father that the manner in which one endures what must be endured is more important than the thing that must be endured.

Enduring M's.
Mosquitoes have endured long
Biting people
The same old story of
Insects causing plasmodium
Marriage has endured long
Bonding people
The same old story of
Interested adults wed
Money has endured long
Buying people
The same old story of
Inflated goods sold
Misery has endured long
Bullying people
The same old story of
Injured hearts bled
Motherhood has endured long
Bearing people
The same old story of
Incarcerated fetuses freed.

Zoe Jane
Well I want you to notice
To notice when I'm not around
I know your eyes see straight through me
And speak to me without a sound
And I want to hold you
Protect you from all of the things I've already endured
And I want to show you
To show you all the things that this life has in store for you
I'll always love you
The way a father should love his daughter
When I walked out this morning
I cried as I walked to the door
I cried about how long I'd be away for
I cried about leaving you all alone
And I want to hold you
Protect you from all of the things I've already endured
And I want to show you
To show you all the things that this life has in store for you
I'll always love you
The way a father should love his daughter
Sweet Zoe Jane
Sweet Zoe Jane
So I wanted to say this
'cause I wouldn't know where to begin
To explain to you what I have been through
To explain where your daddy has been
And I want to hold you
Protect you from all of the things I've already endured
And I want to show you
To show you all the things that this life has in store for you
I'll always love you
The way a father should love his daughter

True Strength
I remember as a little boy, the enraptured awe
I felt when I thought of my Father, and how strong he was;
Sadly, my eyes were not trained, so that's all I saw
And thus, believed him a heroic figure, because
Of same-yet, I was so sadly mistaken!
My Father was not a hero, nor was he truly strong-
He was a coward, and I am sorry he has taken
So much, from so many-and that he did it for so long!
Now, as a man, I know the essence of true strength-
It is the ability to remain resolute in your conviction,
No matter the consequences imposed, no matter the length
Of suffering endured-this is real life, not fiction,
Or make believe-here, pain is very real;
True strength is the endurance, to endure that which you feel,
Inside, at the thought of all the pain endured-
The ability to realize that, his untimely death cured
The weakness he tried to hide frrom the rest of us,
He took so much through cowardice, but not the best of us-
We have nothing, about which to be ashamed,
The monster I called my Father, is the only one to be blamed!

I'll Stick Around
I thought I knew all it took to bother you
Every word I said was true; that you'll see
How could it be I'm the only one who sees
Your rehearsed insanity Yeah
I still refused all the methods you've abused
Its alright if you're confused; let me be
I've been around all the pawns you've gagged and bound
They'll come back and knock you down
And I'll be free
I've taken all and I've endured
One day it all will fade I'm sure
I don't owe you anything
I don't owe you anything
I don't owe you anything
I don't owe you anything
I had no hand in your ever desperate plan
It will turn and when it lands words are due
I should have known we were better off alone
I looked in and i was shown you were too
I've taken all and I've endured
One day it all will fade I'm sure
I don't owe you anything
I don't owe you anything
I don't owe you anything
I don't owe you anything
I don't owe you anything
I don't owe you anything
I don't owe you anything
I don't owe you anything
I'll stick around
I'll stick around and learn from all that came from it

Carried On My Back To Master
If tears from my eyes,
Are seen to drip...
As if from a faulty faucet,
Needing to be fixed.
I have just observed and visited,
The sufferings endured...
By my sisters and brothers.
Enduring hunger and homelessness...
In once thriving neighborhoods.
If my tongue seems to be tensed,
And incensed with laments.
I have just observed and visited,
The sufferings endured...
By my sisters and brothers.
Enduring hunger and homelessness...
In once thriving neighborhoods.
If my comments should offend,
Anyone listening...
With pretensions they defend.
I have just observed and visited,
The sufferings endured...
By my sisters and brothers.
Enduring hunger and homelessness...
In once thriving neighborhoods.
And I do the best I can...
To continue my journey,
With a focus at my command.
Trying to comprehend and understand...
Why my tears,
Falling in a silence no one hears...
Can not nourish or flourish those lives I pass,
As I grasp these visions appearing...
On my path.
Knowing my own burdens and tasks,
Are carried on my back to master!

This Poem Will Be For My Mother And Father
THIS POEM WILL BE FOR MY MOTHER AND FATHER
This poem will be for my mother and father
In my old age-
Why not one more poem for them?
Who were my world
Who gave me what I am
Who in their life together
Struggled and endured through the pain
Loved in their own way-
Raised us-
Why not think of them again?
This early morning in Israel
Far away from Troy New York
Where they made their story?
Why not one small poem for them,
Who are no longer here
Who were everything once?
Why not for Ma and Dad,
The only ones the real ones the ones I love
Ma and Dad and Jakie and Joycie and me.

The Best Dad In The World
My Father is a man of pride
Who often takes a swig, whenever he is down?
But despite all that
He still the best father in the world
Whenever he came from work
He'd cook and do our meals
He taught us how to clean a house
And how to make our beds
He taught us how to laugh and cry
And not be shy in front of eggs
He only ever smacked us
When we were bad, and had no ears
But still he's the best dad in the world
My father is a man of pride
Who takes no crap from any man?
He may be quite as a mouse
But when he speaks he brings down the house
Because he's a story telling man
He's a caring man
Who's endured the worst throughout the years?
At his own hands drinking his beers
But even after all that
He's still the best father in the world
Because without his hand in my life
I would not be who I am
So I say thank you
BECASUE HE IS THE BEST DAD IN THE WORLD

Grief Abidding
It was that
Grief seldom had enough of her;
it took more than its due
leaving her often times over-filled with
dried up tears
in too many places.
Grief took her first child
and she weathered this.
Born in the breast of poverty
she endured nonetheless;
Wombed out in the wrong family
a stranger among them born,
she endured
til the road took her out and away
to college realms;
there
pounded by experience to Tragedy
until her heart came to be iron cast;
a thing which drank
bitter dregs
and cold gruel
her daily faire.
But all this
did not wreck her soul
which survived in the deepest depths
and broke with a might wave
one day to drown Grief's dingy
leaving her space to land her ship
on better shores-
Anvil forged.
She emerged
appreciative of everything
in this world;
thanking in the end
Grief
for placing the edge
on her
capacity to love,
which then emerged
under-girded
by Soul Force
which overcomes
all things.

With You By My Side
I can only offer my gratitude,
With a thankfulness
I do
Every day to You,
My Father.
In the only way I can.
With You by my side,
I would not have survived
Or endured...
Through transgressions
That digress me with temptations...
Fears and doubts.
Indecisions and incisions
Of self inflicting wounds.
Betraying my purpose...
With lack of patience,
To proceed and accept gloom!
You have taught me,
I have no room for that to succeed!
With You by my side I am so pleased!
You wanted me to witness...
How You would fix all of my sorrows,
If I came to You and faithfully prayed!
I have.
And obeyed.
You have shown and proven to me,
I have only to believe in You!
And Father...
I do!

The Good Shepherd
Why
assist others
so much
give so freely
of commodity
wisdom?
So painfully gained?
So that others
may
suffer less
though shepherd
suffered
in humanity infinitely
more.
Thou art but an immaterial shield?
Why assist others
so much
give so freely
wisdom
partaking
waters?
Shepherd borne responsibility sacrifice?
So that tormented
tortured flesh
may suffer less
though divine shepherd
suffered endured as did
subsequent numerous
seasons chosen.
Shorn shocked hopeful faithful flocks?
Word of love
from the beginning
proved to be
faith incarnate in flesh
endured sin weight
redeemer of centuries.

Sunday Morning - IV
She says, "I am content when wakened birds,
Before they fly, test the reality
Of misty fields, by their sweet questionings;
But when the birds are gone, and their warm fields
Return no more, where, then, is paradise?"
There is not any haunt of prophecy,
Nor any old chimera of the grave,
Neither the golden underground, nor isle
Melodious, where spirits gat them home,
Nor visionary south, nor cloudy palm
Remote on heaven's hill, that has endured
As April's green endures; or will endure
Like her remembrance of awakened birds,
Or her desire for June and evening, tipped
By the consummation of the swallow's wings.

Carrying Burdens
When I burden my heart Lord, with burdens that I should ignore,
For all my cares, you told me, that I should cast them all to thee.
These burdens truly do hinder me, from being all that I can truly be.
You truly Lord, do care for me, in ways that my heart can not see.
I must wholeheartedly trust my Lord to have peace in me restored.
In His trial Christ died for me, to give me eyes that I could see.
Turn my trial to a blessing Lord, like the cross that Christ endured.
I must pick up my cross and follow Him; to remain in worry is a sin.
You will never forsake me Lord; you’re with me through every door,
Behind the door, I may not know, but you’re with me every place I go,
Worry is only Satan’s utter disguise, while he is working out demise.
Satan, being the father of all lies; he will even deceive the wise.
So in each trial and each hour, I must rely on God’s Loving Power,
This power is all of The Lord, coming from the cross He endured.
It’s all God’s Power; it’s not mine that lifts my burden every time.
For God is there comforting my heart, well before any trials start.
I need to allow others to see, just how much Lord, you care for me.
For you are always with me Lord, in each and every trial I endure.
When I cast the burden to you, you always lead me safely through.
So why should I worry and fear, when I know God is always near?

Great loves too must be endured.
