Gustav Mahler

Beauty and fullness of tone can be achieved by having the whole orchestra play with high clarinets and a carefully selected number of piccolos.

Number One

You sound truly heartbroken
You can do it. youre a pro
Agony from every pore. and such control
The orchestra swoops and the drum samples roll
You hold the high scream into the key change for the outro
Its another number one
And thats exactly where youre comin from
But can you play me a song
For the deliberate loser
Like an olympic ice skater youve put in the hours
Learned the routines and the high scoring loops
And even before you sing the sweet opening line
Youre know that youre scorin at least 5.9
Here come the flowers
I saw them gathered all around you
Hangin on your every word
You were telling them youre masterplan
World domination
... any way you can
Dont you ever wonder if this will to win is a weakness?
Dont you ever wonder...

Beauty & The Mess

Blue waters blue eyes color me
If any could come this close Id let them see
Get it out again and play em one more song
Its all they really want and whos to say thats wrong
Aint that what you want them to know?
All they get of you is what they get out of the show
The rest is mine, I guess, the beauty and the mess
To hide
I pull myself under and down I go again
Its just a little bit hard letting them in
Looking at the world through elusive eyes
I hide in the spotlight its a great disguise
Aint that what you want them to know?
All they all they get of you is what they get out of the show
The rest is mine, I guess, the beauty and the mess
To hide
Behind the melody the words dont mean a thing
But every tone I play would give whatever Ive not said away
Behind the melody the words dont mean a thing
But every tone I play would give whatever Ive not said away
Behind the melody the words dont mean a thing
But every tone I play would give whatever Ive not said away
Aint that what you want them to know?
All they all they get of you is all they get of you is what they get out of the
Show
The rest is mine I guess the beauty and the mess...
Aint that what you want them to know?
All they get of you is what they get out of the show
The rest is mine I guess the beauty and the mess
The rest the rest is mine I guess the beauty and the mess the rest the rest is

MY Toys

I have instructed someone else,
To play with MY toys!

'Instructed?
Why don't you just give them your toys? '

I want it understood that they are mine...
When and IF I decide I want them back.

'Why 'those' toys? '

Gee...
I hadn't thought of it.
I guess the real reason is...
Those were the only toys they selected.
AND...
I now find that myself to be strange.
Because...
IF they had 'not' selected 'those' toys...
I would have given them away,
Anyway.

I hate to be intruded upon!
Especially by those making demands,
With high expectations.

Oh well...
My mind goes 'cuckoo' on me sometimes.

Frustrated Ambition.

Frustrated ambition.

I can remember vividly
The first person that I chose to kill.
Although selected randomly.
It somehow made me feel fulfilled.

No longer a non entity.
Overlooked by everyone.
It proved my capability
To make my name and be someone.

I thought about it constantly.
I knew that I must kill again
I felt a growing certainty
my only thought was to regain.

The rush of the adrenaline
The sense of power which it brought.
As if the whole wide world was mine.
That was the feeling which I sought.

Though when my second victim died
My pleasure was not so intense
and I was left unsatisfied
Which did not seem to make much sense.

When I killed victim number three
There was no rushed adrenaline.
Which only served to convince me
That killing had become routine.

I had not yet achieved my aim.
Although killing had lost its thrill.
The only way I would gain fame
Was by continuing to kill.

I will defy the threatened rain
To add another to my score
Tonight I mean to kill again
and claim my victim number four.

Though others have killed many more
To earn their place in history.
I aim to beat the highest score.
I’m sure I will eventually.

Because I’ve only just begun
I study the case histories.
Familiar with everyone
I find that this inspires me.

To choose my victims carefully
and not at random as before
and change my M.O frequently
Whilst I am racking up my score.

Six years have passed my final score
I don’t believe can be surpassed.
by anyone who’s gone before.
Perhaps the time has come at last

For me to claim the fame that’s due.
Because I have successfully
Achieved what I set out to do.
By confessing publically.

The best laid plans can go awry.
The powers that be were satisfied
My story was a fantasy.
And so they had me certified.

No access to publicity
I never got the chance to boast.
Perhaps a fitting penalty
Organised by a vengeful ghost.

They keep me safely locked away
With no access to the outside.
Though I am certain that one day
All my claims will be verified.

Some one will find my record book
Containing records of my kills.
But when I tell them where to look
They do not listen: no one will.

High Tone Woman

I been watchin' you watchin' her watchin' herself in the mirror,
In her tailor-made dress an' her long blonde hair,
An' her big diamond rings: her custom-made shoes.
And I can by the look on your face that you're makin' your move,
But she hasn't got time for a man who's tongue-tied.
An' she doesn't like cowboys an' thinks less of fools.
So, boy, don't you saddle yourself to a high-tone woman.
She'll cut up your heart like an' old credit card,
When the fun and the money runs out.
I've never seen an uptown, well-read thorougbred,
High-tone woman sink as low as you.
Instrumental break.
Hey, I'm on your side; don't go gettin' me wrong, now:
You're not a bad fellow at all.
But you're out of her league so stay in the bleachers:
Son, you couldn't please her if you had it all.
So, boy, don't you saddle yourself to a high-tone woman.
She'll cut up your heart like an' old credit card,
When the fun and the money runs out.
You're a fool if you saddle yourself to a high-tone woman. (I seen her.)
I've seen her cut up a heart like an' old credit card,
When the fun and the money runs out.
I've never seen an uptown, well-read thorougbred,
High-tone woman sink as low as you.
Oh no, I've never seen an uptown, well-read thorougbred,
High-tone woman sink as low as you.

Remember The Jar In The Yard Praying To The Moon

if you remember me
you must remember too the
empty earthen jar
places at the middle of
the garden
it has no water
it has only air
but the flowers in the garden
adore its
invisible fullness
even when it rains
it feels the emptiness
of the waters
and even when the sun shines
all day
it fills the fullness
of the light
for in truth
there is always reason
for one
who never ceases to live
to crave for
even, death, to know
the beauty of
what is there
and is there not.

The Biggest Clown

(j.rostill)
Everybody laughs at the clown when he falls down
People just smile and clap there hands together
I dont have a big red nose or wear his funny clothes
But everybody knows, the biggest clown in all the world is me
Everybody knows how it feels when someone stearls
All that your heart could ever hope to treasure
Since he left to go his way,i hear both night and day
The things that people say
The biggest clown in all the world is me
I guess the shows under way
I hear the orchestra start to play
And its time for the clown to open the show
How it hurts when they cheer every crocodile tear
They just dont know
When theres nothing left you can save, got to be brave
Walk with your head held high and looking forward
Its not working very well,as anyone can tell
I guess I know as well
The biggest clown in all the world is me
I guess the shows under way
I hear the orchestra start to play
And its time for the clown to open the show
How it hurts when they cheer every crocodile tear
They just dont know
I guess the shows under way
I hear the orchestra start to play
And its time for the clown to open the show
How it hurts when they cheer every crocodile tear
They just dont know

Carefully

You are free to chose,
that’s why
carefully use every word.
Carefully measure every step,
if you don’t want to be swept.
Carefully do all you’ve conceived.
and…if you want to be believed
and… to achieve your aim
it’s not a shame
to start carefully a new song.
And it doesn’t matter if it is long.
If you carefully do all that
you will never regret.

Herbert von Karajan

Music begins to be 'manipulated' the moment it is interpreted by a conductor or a soloist and played by an orchestra in a hall with a specific acoustic. All these factors 'manipulate' music and so does the fact that I ask the oboe please to play more piano. And you are manipulating the orchestra for one reason only: to get the sound you want. In the recording studio you are using the equipment at hand for exactly the same reason.

Trruffles (A Chocolate Orgy)

She stood behind the counter, feet spread wide
Her hair neatly tied in a bun that the netting tried to hide.
Smiled when I entered, hands covered with sugar dust
So she wiped her hands on the apron. That she must.
Standing behind the display of truffles galore
She seemed to be offering so much more.

The names of each on a card was printed
With the truffles, carefully presented
So they stood out in all their glory
As if to tell a life’s story
Each was held like a newborn at the baptismal font
To be blessed by the mistress who was about to anoint.

“Do you like truffles, ’ she asked with a toss of her head
“Some come here thinking, they’re just high priced chocolate., ” she said.
“And they don’t appreciate the taste and aroma
That each offers to the knowing consumer
As he savors the chocolate as it melts in his mouth
Releasing aroma’s history in flavors, run rout.”

Then she carefully selected one and placing in on a marble square
Carefully, carved sections with knowing care.
As she buisied herself I couldn’t help notice
What a beauty stood before me with chocolates to entice
To sample what was offered. Never mind the price
For this was a meeting between two, that never happens twice.

Taking a small piece and placing it between her lips,
She slowly explained her chocolate, eating tips.
“Notice how I place it on my tongue and hold it there
Before I place against mouth’s roof, the essence to share.
The chocolate melts at body temperature, just like yours and mine
And as it melts, cools the surface, a feeling, Oh so sublime.”

She shifted her feet as if to acknowledge that more was to come
Tasting chocolate is permissive seduction to some.
“Now” she continued and as she slowly inhaled through her nose
She seemed to be in another world, yet she was so close,
With lips together so the nose took command
She reached out and offered a piece with her exquisite, gloved hand.

“After the coolness, “she continued, “You are about to discover
That this bit of chocolate has a history only you can uncover,
The dark chocolate has an earthy aroma that comes from its distant past.”
And with eyes closed (as hers were) “you can imagine the forest vast.
Chirping of birds and calls of animals wild
Those are the memories that the chocolate cannot hide.”

Too soon it was over and she carefully selected just a few
Into a pretty box which from the counter she drew.
Each nestled in its bed of paper like a child
Asleep for the moment but will awaken in a while.
Closing the box with a bit of ribbon and tying it with love
She offered the box to me with a gentle, yet knowing shove.

That will be thirty dollars, she said with a knowing smile
As if to suggest that more had been offered in this little while.
So as it paid up and was about to leave,
I took another sample that she had offered me
And placing it in my mouth with a knowing grin,
I hoped that I would be seeing her again.

Back at the office, I shared my bounty of truffles
Among those who worked with sometimes small rewards
And explained carefully the secret of eating chocolate
Known to some of authority, who indulged in what they ate
Savoring the essence and letting the chocolate melt in the mouth
Was a secret worth sharing with all who were about.

The next day at lunch, I returned to the shops
And wondered what I would do in this second encounter, (romance has its hopes)
As I walked along the sidewalk counting the addresses as I went
I soon reached the block where I anticipated the event
There was 1020,1022,1024, and 1026
But where was the truffle shop, number 1024, as I remembered the number distinct.
Instead was a shop that offered fresh coffee, much like Starbucks sold
But no candy store stood out, to behold.

Today I wonder but am too afraid to ask,
My coworkers if they enjoyed the chocolate repast.
For maybe I am dreaming of another time and place
When the world was a moving at a very different pace
But I will remember and tell all that I can
The proper way to enjoy chocolate; that's my plan.

I Love A Piano

[1st verse:]
As a child I went wild when a band played
How I ran to the man when his hand swayed
Clarinets were my pets, and a slide trombone I thought was simply
Divine
But today when they play I could hiss them
Evry bar is a jar to my system
But theres one musical instrument that I call mine
[chorus:]
I love a piano, I love a piano
I love to hear somebody play
Upon a piano, a grand piano
It simply carries me away
I know a fine way to treat a steinway
I love to run my fingers oer the keys, the ivories
And with the pedal I love to meddle
When padarewski comes this way
Im so delighted if Im invited
To hear that long haired genius play
So you can keep your fiddle and your bow
Give me a p-i-a-n-o, oh, oh
I love to stop right beside an upright
Or a high toned baby grand
[2nd verse:]
When a green tetrazine starts to warble
I grow cold as an old piece of marble
I allude to the crude little party singer who dont know when to pause
At her best I detest the soprano
But I run to the one at the piano
I always love the accompniment and thats because

Selected For Your Love

Selected for your love and selected for your muse,
But it is only in the higher order to warm you up!
And like the sky over Berlin.

One bog one or two small ones,
And like the sky over Accra;
But the atmosphere over Africa is like the colours of your love.

Without a better education,
The better high-paying jobs are forever out of reach! !
And like your daily needs in the land of your muse,
But be very wise in what you do always.

Beautiful Satiation

We carefully search for beauty where beauty never stood
I never did attain it, I knew I never could
The simple shapes of earth cannot satiate my need
I need true beauty; beauty like the world can never see
Mirrors lie and people judge the faults they themselves reflect
Pointing out my problems while ignoring their own regrets
Beauty is elusive, serpentine, slick, and rare
We find angelic features aplenty but true beauty isn’t there
Reflected not by mirrored glass, but in our good deeds
True beauty lies locked within our souls, and love is the only key
