I've been able to make a good living as a musician, but now it's time to do all the other stuff.

Victor Should Have Been A Jazz Musician
I went to a concert, to see nina, simone,
The concert was over, there was still a band playing, the rap up,
The booguh played with his hands, I close my eyes, and look at him,
Victor should have been a jazz musician,
I said to myself, victor should have been a jazz musician,
I looked at his face, and I saw victor, looked at his smile, and I saw victor,
I looked at his hair, and thought,
Victor should have been a jazz musician,
Victor should have been a jazz musician,
And the people dancing on the floor, dancing on the floor, were so high,
You should have seen victor smile, you should have seen victor smile,
As they danced all the while all around on the floor, and he laughed,
Victor should have been a jazz musician,
Oh, victor should have been a jazz musician,
He was playing so nice, the jazz musician,
Ah, ah,
Hes living in a fast beat, in a city thats hot,
Telling all the latinos and puerto ricans, victor seems happy, but he doesnt even know himself, hes gotta look inside to know his first love,
Victor was a jazz musician, he was playing so nice, victor was a jazz musician, (? ) victor was a jazz musician,
Victor loves his music, he loves his music, somewhere, he plays his music, somewhere,
Victor is a jazz musician,
Jazz.

Well I'm a third-generation musician. My Grandfather's a musician and my father and mother were both musicians and so I'm a musician. It was just natural that I should be a musician 'cause I was born into the family.

One thing, when you're an actor, you finish something and then you have to worry about what the next gig is. When you're a musician, you can always write your own stuff, and I'm working on new stuff for a new album right now.

Why Do Folks Just Make Up Stuff?
Why do folks just make up stuff?
Even those who traditionally lie professionally,
And have kept it this way for centuries...
Can be noticed becoming increasingly appalled,
By this relatively new trend in communication.
Their lies are being amended,
By the telling of lies more outrageously told.
And to say they are offended,
Is an understatement.
They can be seen blowing off steam.
Why do folks just make up stuff?
Not even good made up stuff at that.
There is weak made up stuff being made.
Low grade although acceptable.
And this can be seen,
As a detriment to standards kept...
That has begun to threaten values,
Being questioned by the youth...
Graduating with degrees of higher learning,
With no where to apply their lessons learned.
As those who just make up stuff,
Are making themselves more credible.

Music is emotional, and you may catch a musician in a very unemotional mood or you may not be in the same frame of mind as the musician. So a critic will often say a musician is slipping.

Verses On A Cat
I.
A cat in distress,
Nothing more, nor less;
Good folks, I must faithfully tell ye,
As I am a sinner,
It waits for some dinner
To stuff out its own little belly.
II.
You would not easily guess
All the modes of distress
Which torture the tenants of earth;
And the various evils,
Which like so many devils,
Attend the poor souls from their birth.
III.
Some a living require,
And others desire
An old fellow out of the way;
And which is the best
I leave to be guessed,
For I cannot pretend to say.
IV.
One wants society,
Another variety,
Others a tranquil life;
Some want food,
Others, as good,
Only want a wife.
V.
But this poor little cat
Only wanted a rat,
To stuff out its own little maw;
And it were as good
SOME people had such food,
To make them HOLD THEIR JAW!

Bad Rain
Dont come around here no more,
Bringing me all of your bad rain.
Cant you see Ive got troubles of my own.
I aint got time to be messing with all of your bad rain,
Why in the world cant you just leave that stuff alone?
There was a time we had a good thing going on,
You and I both know the reason why it all went wrong.
Tried to stick by you, help you see it through,
But you used me all up, now youre on your own.
So, dont come around here no more,
Bringing me all of your bad rain.
Cant you see Ive got troubles of my own.
I aint got time to be messing with all of your bad rain,
Why in the world cant you just leave that stuff alone?
Well I tried and tried again, to be good to you,
But you wont a hear a word and I dont know what its coming to.
Comes a time when you just have to turn and, walk away,
Theres nothing left to do, nothing left to say.
So, dont come around here no more,
Bringing me all of your bad rain.
Cant you see Ive got troubles of my own.
I aint got time to be messing with all of your bad rain,
Why in the world cant you just leave that stuff alone?
I aint someone to be preaching to nobody else,
Aint going to try and pretend to be living that clean myself.
Cant stand by and watch you throw your life away,
But theres nothing left to do, nothing left to say.
So, dont come around here no more,
Bringing me all of your bad rain.
Cant you see Ive got troubles of my own.
I aint got time to be messing with all of your bad rain,
Why in the world cant you just leave that stuff alone?

Make A Little Love
I walked you to your doorstep
Believin we could make a little love
And I let you have my heart
I was as certain as the stars above
Looked here and there
Every everywhere
I even searched beyond the dawn
But you were nowhere to be found
And I was going round and round
Lost like Id never been born
Time after time
Ive lost my love for a rhyme
A reason seemed good enough
You always put me down
While you made me run around
I cant take anymore of that stuff
Time after time
Ive lost my love for a rhyme
And my reason
Seemed good enough
You always put me down
And you make me run around
I cant take anymore of that stuff

Studio Musician
I am a studio musician
We've never met
But you know me well
I am the English horn
Who plays the poignant counter-nine
Upon the song you heard
While making love in some hotel
I am a part of you
I've never tried for fame
You'll never know my name
I am the strings that enter softly
Or three guitars that glitter gold
I am the thousand trumpet lines
That were an afterthought
Intended eyes,
the way to get a dying record sold
I never ride the road
I never play around
I played what they set down
I'm a working musician
living from week to week
I'm the voice through each empty men
tried to speak
A studio musician
Blowin' the chance I see
And when the woodwind coushin rises
I start to dream
With the low brass bed
But I awake the horns
The drummer calls to me
We're up the letter D
I'm a man of the moment
pop is my stock n' trade
Singles, jingles and demos
conventently made
A studio musician
Whose music will die unplayed
A studio musician
Whose music could have died unplayed

We had to do a lot of rehearsals to get it so that it was playable. What it did was make you practice. That's good for any musician to have that kind of pressure. It brings things out of you that might not come out if you don't have to reach for something all the time.
I grew up in a time when being a musician and learning to be a musician was actually very wonderful.

For sure, you don't believe the good stuff. I mean, the good stuff is just insane - wacky. If you don't take it too much to heart, it does help when the negative stuff hits. And you know the negative stuff is coming. It's got to! What comes up must come down.

Good Stuff
Yeah, Im telling you boy
Youre wasting your time on her
The good stuffs right here
I seen you when you walked in
Stealing all the light
Youre the type of guy
That makes them fly girls fuss and fight
They cant love you more
Not the way youre wishing for
They go about it all wrong
Experts get it right
1 - (ooh, ooh)
Im telling you now boy
Put your eyes on me
(ooh, ooh)
And if you call now boy
Ill throw my heart in free

(ooh, ooh)
And if you dont like it
Send it back in thirty days

Knowing who you are
All they wanna do is
Ride around in your fancy car
Gimme this, gimme that
And yeah I know its so whack
All they wanna do is be seen with a superstar
Repeat 1

One of two clipse intended specs then
Dance floor, hot sex
My hands rubbing her breast
What am I saying baby?

Either way to miss my spray just swish your neck
[kelis]

And those girls wasted their time
Thinking they could possibly (yeah right)

First Encounter - Kitaro
Kitaro
more mystical than him
his music
Kitaro just another
musician working
for survival
Kitaro just another
musician who enlightens us
with his specialities
Several years back Kitaro came to give a concert at the Genting Highlands. He came across as just another musician, working for his survival. A lot of hypes have been written about the mystic way of life he lives but that did not come across to me. Yes, his hair was long but what I perceived was a man working for his survival. Tagging along was his musician wife who worked in the same band as Kitaro.

And Ive been searchin for a better way
And Ive been runnin all over town, girl
Ive been lookin each and every way, yeah
But you got somethin special
And Im bein on the level with you
You got that thing that moves me, yeah
(great stuff, luv your stuff), mmm, I luv your stuff
(great stuff, luv your stuff), at five oclock in the morning
(great stuff, luv your stuff), still cant get enough
(great stuff, luv your stuff)
Livin like a fool in flames
You know that I been usin you, girl
And Im the one to blame
But babe, I got my cupboards all stocked and ready
What you get girl, is what you see
And youve been lookin inside my head now
And you got your arms wrapped around me, mmm
I got no thing for our candy
Its your lovin girl, that gets me down
You got that thing that moves me, yeah
(great stuff, luv your stuff), ooh, I luv your stuff
(great stuff, luv your stuff), send the bill in the morning
(great stuff, luv your stuff), I luv your stuff
(great stuff, luv your stuff), get busy
I got no sense of reason, I know I gotta make a deal
Its all comin down to somethin baby, its tellin me I got to get real, huh
I got my senses in a tuft, Im all mixed up, my temperatures starting to rise
And I cant seem to stay away from you, girl, I think its more than we realized, yeah
Wont you look what its doin
Its your lovin girl, that gets me down
You got that thing that moves me, yeah
(great stuff, luv your stuff), ooh, I luv your stuff

High Time
You told me good-bye, how was I to know
You didnt mean good-bye, you meant please dont let me go?
I was having a high time, living the good life, well I know
The wheels are muddy, got a ton of hay,
Now listen here, baby, cause I mean what I say.
Im having a hard time, living the good life, well I know.
I was losing time, I had nothing to do,
No one to fight, I came to you.
Wheels broke down, leader wont draw,
The line is busted, the last one I saw.
Tomorrow come trouble, tomorrow come pain,
Now dont think too hard baby, cause I know what Im saying.
I could show you a high time, living the good life, dont be that way.
Nothings for certain, it could always go wrong,
We could have us a high time, living the good life, well I know.
