In order to understand life it is not only necessary not to be indifferent to men, but not to be indifferent to flocks, to trees. One should be indifferent to nothing.

You Feel Me?

Everything and everyone under the Sun,
Seeks to be closer to something...
Or someone.

Rarely are there exceptions to this.
Unless someone has been taught,
To forget this closeness nonsense...
And wont have none of it.

Still there can be seen trees growing majestically.
Even someone or some 'thing',
That stands out to get attention it brings.

But when it comes to hearts, eyes and ears...
It becomes difficult to separate them,
From the touch of emotions.

I'm not going to admit I know a thing about this,
Since I am suppose to be aloof, cold and indifferent.
To those I choose to be aloof, cold and indifferent to!

I am not experiencing my life,
Just to be used to benefit someone else's pleasures.
I have my own I'd like to 'share' to get 'there'.
You feel me?
I wish you could!

Everything and everyone under the Sun,
Seeks to be closer to something...
Or someone.

And when it comes to hearts, eyes and ears...
It becomes difficult to separate them,
From the touch of emotions.

I'm not going to admit I know a thing about this,
Since I am suppose to be aloof, cold and indifferent.
To those I choose to be aloof, cold and indifferent to!

You feel me?
No not you.
The other one to the left of you and looking away!

God

I think about God.
Yet I talk of small matters.
Now isn't it odd
How my idle tongue chatters!
Of quarrelsome neighbors,
Fine weather and rain,
Indifferent labors,
Indifferent pain,
Some trivial style
Fashion shifts with a nod.
And yet all the while
I am thinking of God.

Nature is not cruel, pitilessly, indifferent. This is one of the hardest lessons for humans to learn. We cannot admit that things might be neither good nor evil, neither cruel nor kind, but simply callous -- indifferent to all suffering, lacking all purpose.

In The New Garden In All The Parts

IN the new garden, in all the parts,
In cities now, modern, I wander,
Though the second or third result, or still further, primitive yet,
Days, places, indifferent--though various, the same,
Time, Paradise, the Mannahatta, the prairies, finding me unchanged,
Death indifferent--Is it that I lived long since? Was I buried very
long ago?
For all that, I may now be watching you here, this moment;
For the future, with determined will, I seek--the woman of the
future,
You, born years, centuries after me, I seek.

Grey Hours: Naples

There are some hours when I seem so indifferent; all things fade
To an indifferent greyness, like that grey of the sky;
Always at evening-ends, on grey days; and I know not why,
But life, and art, and love, and death, are the shade of a shade.
Then, in those hours, I hear old voices murmur aloud,
And memory forgoes desire, too weary at heart for regret;
Dreams come with beckoning fingers, and I forget to forget;
The world as a cloud drifts by, or I drift by as a cloud.

Caught in a politics of culture

caught in a politics of culture
designed for the indifferent
they are brought to nothing
because a web
that brought them to their knees
knitted in poverty's trap
now they have nothing
sorry, life, prayer
and God
who appears distant
with everyone saying
be strong, God will
will what the family beckons

caught in a politics of culture
designed for the indifferent
the head man cries
cries like a child in need of change
his lamentation brought the
family to tear
but
what next the head child inquire
as he sees not purpose for education
a grown had by his head man
yet he was brought to his knees
and now the family suffers
they cry for want
everything is wrong
and God appears distant
nowhere for redemption
they languish by the seconds

caught in a politics of culture
designed for the indifferent
the debt collector is coming
they hide beneath the opened heavens
caught and hell upon to leave
once again belittled in an opened space
yet the family beckons for help
wondering when, when, when
when God is coming to change the future
but the family is caught in present
a pile, a web, a paradox of mystery
wanting help,
seeing it close
but offered expressions
the children laugh with vexation
but the head man
say
no jealous should be in thine heart

caught in a politics of culture
designed for the indifferent
the man search the obituary
for a unknown father
who may have left him bequest
as a gift
a piped hope, but a faith in something
in a heaven of opportunity
he cries to the God of Daniel
no sound cometh from the
saviour the belittled call
is He caught in the system
they wonder
just expressions, expressions and more rhetoric
and no sign of help
a family with a sick child
not having finance
because the head man is
caught in a politics of culture
designed for the indifferent

Walt Whitman

To Him That Was Crucified

MY spirit to yours, dear brother;
Do not mind because many, sounding your name, do not understand you;
I do not sound your name, but I understand you, (there are others
also;)
I specify you with joy, O my comrade, to salute you, and to salute
those who are with you, before and since--and those to come
also,
That we all labor together, transmitting the same charge and
succession;
We few, equals, indifferent of lands, indifferent of times;
We, enclosers of all continents, all castes--allowers of all
theologies,
Compassionaters, perceivers, rapport of men,
We walk silent among disputes and assertions, but reject not the
disputers, nor any thing that is asserted;
We hear the bawling and din--we are reach'd at by divisions,
jealousies, recriminations on every side, 10
They close peremptorily upon us, to surround us, my comrade,
Yet we walk unheld, free, the whole earth over, journeying up and
down, till we make our ineffaceable mark upon time and the
diverse eras,
Till we saturate time and eras, that the men and women of races, ages
to come, may prove brethren and lovers, as we are.

A Dichotomy Of Lovers Asleep

what i like about you
is the strangeness
that which i cannot understand
because you are
too near
that which i cannot hold
because you are so fragile
that which i cannot love
because you have
kept the distance
between two worlds
that prefer to be independent
and indifferent

what i like about you
is what you like about me too
and when we meet
we understand
that we have to take our separate ways
just to be happy i guess

Believing Our Success Only We Alone Feed

I'll remain and keep myself different.
You'll campaign to keep yourself distant.
And make claims the other is missing,
What each of us has that will succeed.
Although we have what the other needs.

I'll remain and keep myself different.
You'll campaign to keep yourself distant.
And make claims the other is missing,
What each of us has that will succeed.
Although we believe that the other needs,
What it takes to really achieve.

I'll keep what I've got,
Under lock and key.
Keeping my beliefs it's what you need.
And you keep what you've got,
Under lock and key.
Keeping your beliefs this is what I need.
Keeping your beliefs I will not succeed.

I'll remain and keep myself different.
You'll campaign to keep yourself distant.
And make claims the other is missing,
What each of us has that will succeed.
Although we have what the other needs.

We'll remain indifferent and distant.
Believing what we have the other needs.
We'll remain indifferent and distant.
Believing what we have the other needs.
We'll remain indifferent and distant.
Believing what we have the other needs.
And believing our success only we alone feed.

We'll remain indifferent and distant.
And believing our success only we alone feed.

Hansel and Gretel Syndrome

Why do we ignore the homeless?
Why do we feel we must be indifferent towards him?
We have this need to be indifferent towards everyone.
Our belief that it is just not our problem.
How do you bring such a message to our homes.
A big reality check.
Some must suffer before they will feel such a revelation.
Others have always known the importance of help those less fortunate.
Not as a charity that wins you an award.
Not as pity.
Feeling sorry for someone does nothing to help in their plight.
But because you actually care about another human being.
No matter their culture or race.
The satisfactory of grace.
A enlightenment of actions unknown by most.
We are living like ghosts.
We feel nothing, but a numbness.
We prefer to dull or dilute the pain.
Let the skies be dark and let it not rain.
A compensation so we don't go insane.
A sacrifice in vain.
With familiarities gone.
We are but as Hansel and Gretel, children lost in a big forest knowing not what evils might lurk.

Indifferent

It kind of looks like we wont make it, my friend.
And it looks like you cant take it again, my friend.
And all the pretty roses wilted up and paled themselves away today.
The guillotine of truth has fallen, somehow Im the one you blame.
(chorus)
This cant be happening.
Not so fast, Im so mean.
I cant stay indifferent.
Because I know the outcome.
And Im the target for the daggers.
That the truths thrown your way, today.
And the next one maybe shell be easier.
Shell make it go away, hey.
Shes still calling you.
Im still calling him.
Can we do this.
Here we go again.
The package.
The baggage.
(chorus)
This cant be happening.
Not so fast, Im so mean.
I cant stay indifferent.
Because I know the outcome.
This cant be happening.
It started out not so clean.
You chose your path.
Mines wrong, you can say that.

To Be Held And Gently Touched

To prove I have the inner strength,
To deal with all my sorrows...
I show I can be,
Obnoxious, rude and indifferent!

To show I am brave,
Inspite of fearful obstacles...
I walk in the pouring rain,
Just to maintain my claimed dignity!

I will not abandoned my journey.
Like many who are quick,
To detach from a mate.

I can not reveal that I hate,
Being alone feeling a dependency.
When I secretly wish to be held,
And gently touched!

To prove I have the inner strength,
To deal with all my sorrows...
I show I can be,
Obnoxious, rude and indifferent!
When I...
Secretly wish,
To be held and gently touched!

Nature's Way

To tribulations of mankind
Dame Nature is indifferent;
To human sorrow she is blind,
And deaf to human discontent.
Mid fear and fratricidal fray,
Mid woe and tyranny of toil,
She goes her unregarding way
Of sky and sun and soil.

In leaf and blade, in bud and bloom
Exultantly her gladness glows,
And careless of Man's dreary doom
Around the palm she wreathes the rose;
Creating beauty everywhere,
With happy bird in holy song . . .
Please God, let us be unaware
Like her of wrath and wrong.

Let us too be indifferent,
And in her hands our fate resign;
Aye, though the world with rage is rent
Let us be placid as the pine.
For if we turn from greed and guile
Maybe Dame Nature will relent,
And bless us with her lovely smile
Of comfort and content.

This habit of forming opinions, and acting upon them without evidence, is one of the most immoral habits of the mind. ... As our
opinions are the fathers of our actions, to be indifferent about the evidence of our opinions is to be indifferent about the consequences of our actions. But the consequences of our actions are the good and evil of our fellow-creatures. The habit of the neglect of evidence, therefore, is the habit of disregarding the good and evil of our fellow-creatures.
