A man who writes for a living does not have to go anywhere in particular, and he could rarely afford to if he wanted.

Must
She writes as if there’s not much time.
She writes to pain, to happiness,
She writes to every remote detailed thought.
She writes to the departed,
to the extant,
to poverty,
to wealth.
She writes to mourn, and grief.
She writes to the wind, the rain,
forest, the desert, and mountains.
She writes to her pouring tears,
to her grateful moments,
She writes because really what she has is time.
She has no little ones to feed, or bathe,
nor a husband to make happy. To write is
to escape- to her. Time is not a problem, time
is just a killing system, she needs to kill in many words.
She writes as if there’s not much time.

We Rarely See
In our busy world, we rarely see
what is right before our eyes.
The sky that leaks its teardrops
to cleanse and refresh the day.
The two hearts that beat as one
before one of them has to go away.
The patterns of a snowflake
on a wintry day.
The turning of each season
that passes on its way.
We rarely see the things we should
that help to shape our lives
as we are trapped on the treadmill
of earning money to pay our way.
One day we may notice them
when we step off the treadmill
letting the rest of the world
go on its merry way.
Then we will see what we rarely see
the life and love we are living.

Mystery To Me
(berry/buck/mills/stipe)
Living in cities, living in cars
Living the way you never wanted to
Living in alleys, living it down
Living the way you always thought youd do
Shakin it up shakin it down
Shakin the way you never wanted to
Living in cities, living in cars
Living the way you always thought
Youd do
You feel so old, I feel so new
Tell me what you want me to
Do you want me to go all night
Do you want me to tell you youre all
Right
Living in cities, living in cars
Living the way you never wanted to
Lord, I feel so new
Tell me what you want me to do
And its a mystery to me
And its a mystery to me
Well your trying, trying to look so hard
But you want, but you want, but you want to go
Living in cities, living in cars
Living the way you never wanted to
Shakin it up, shaking it down
Shakin the way you always thought youd do
You feel so old, I feel so new
Tell me what you want me to do

Reflections 101
he writes not because
he wants to be read and
be understood
got him wrong really
he writes because he likes
to live
life writes upon himself
and so he writes upon life too.

Red Eyed & Blue
We've got solid state technology
Tapes on the floor
Some songs we can't afford to play
When we came here today
All I wanted to say was how much I miss you
Alcohol and cotton balls
And some drugs we can't afford on the way
When we came here today
We all felt something true
Now I'm red-eyed and blue

Ballad Of ‘Memo’ Roy
For JoAnn
Who in conversation inspired this little ditty.
This is the Ballad of ‘Memo’ Roy
the fastest memos in the world.
Roy writes a memo every minute
just to remind himself what to do.
He even writes one to tell himself
he must visit the loo.
It all started many years ago
when the doctor told Roy
he was suffering from
short-term memory loss.
Now he writes memos
to remind himself to write a memo
for everything he must do.
He writes one late at night
to remind him
to get up in the morning
and one in the morning
to remind him to go to bed at night.
It is estimated he writes
quite a few hundred memos everyday.
His house is filed with little bits
of yellow paper stuck up here and there.
He couldn’t watch TV
even if he wanted to.
There are s many memos on it
you can’t see the screen.
One day his pen ran out
and no memos he could write.
He couldn’t even write a memo
to remind himself to buy a pen.
Then he found a pencil
and shouted that will do.
Now he is able to write memos to himself
to tell himself what to do.
As far as I know,
he hasn’t written a memo
to remind himself to sharpen
the pencil once and a while.

Book Of Suleika - The Loving One Again
WRITES he in Neski,
Faithfully speaks he;
Writes he in Tali,
Joy to give, seeks he:
Writes he in either,
Good!--for he loves!

Miranda Rights?
You have a right to remain stupid,
Anything you say will diffuse you in a court of flaw.
If you cannot afford a liar,
One will be disappointed.
Do you understand these re-writes,
As they have been read to you?

The musician writes for the orchestra what his inner voice sings to him; the painter rarely relies without disadvantage solely upon the images which his inner eye presents to him; nature gives him his forms, study governs his combinations of them.

In my early years, there were a number of experiences that made me decide I could not afford the luxury of just being an actress. There were a number of issues I wanted to address. And I wanted to use my career as a platform.

Sail Into Tomorrow
(john farrar)
If a ship of dreams bid me come, would I board it?
If I had their gold in my hands, would I hoard it?
If I knew the trials I must face, would I carry on at all?
Sail into tomorrow, living day to day
Thats all I can afford to do and all Ill ever pay
Is a song to sing to thank you for making me alive
And a prayer to bring me comfort--lord help us to survive
If his pretty eyes shone my way, would I leave you?
If I wasnt sure he would stay, would I deceive you?
If I had to melt you with promises, would they stand or fall?
Sail into tomorrow, living day to day
Thats all I can afford to do and all Ill ever pay
Is a song to sing to thank you for making me alive
And a prayer to bring you comfort--lord help us to survive
If time should call me a fool, would I laugh or would I care?
Sail into tomorrow, living day to day
Thats all I can afford to do and all Ill ever pay
Is a song to sing to thank you for making me alive
And a prayer to bring you comfort--lord help us to survive

Down Payment Blues
I know that it's evil
I know that it's got to be
I know I ain't doing much
Doing nothing means a lot to me
Living on a shoe string
A fifty cent millionaire
Open to charity
Rock 'n' roller welfare
Sitting in my Cadillac
Listening to my radio
Suzy baby get on in
Tell me where you want to go
I'm living in a nightmare
She's looking like a wet dream
I got myself a Cadillac
But I can't afford the gasoline
CHORUS:
I've got holes in my shoes
And I'm way overdue
Down payment blues
Get myself a steady job
Some responsibility
Can't even feed my cat
On social security
Hiding from the rent man
Oh it makes me want to cry
Sheriff knocking on my door
Ain't it funny how the time flies
Sitting on my sailing boat
Sipping off my champaign
Suzy baby all at sea [Suzy baby you're obscene]
Say she want to come again
Feeling like a paper cup
[Floating | Blowing] down a storm drain
Got myself a sailing boat
But I can't afford the gasoline [...afford a drop of rain]
CHORUS

Living With The Enemy
I gave you all that you wanted
and still you come back for more
You say that you're brokenhearted
but then you walk out the door
Maybe it is time for us to say goodbye
Where are the tears you never cried?
Hey baby what you got on your mind
are you looking for some sympathy?
I can tell you if it's a truth or a lie
'Cos it's just like living,
living with the enemy
You got me going in circles,
I'm slowly loosing my head
What did I do to deserve this,
you make me wish I was dead
Tell me I'm wrong and I'll be on my way
See you around another day
Hey baby what you doin' tonite?
Are you giving me the perfect dream
I'm so tired and I don't wanna fight
'Cos it's just like living,
living with the enemy, enemy
Living with the enemy, living with the enemy, enemy
Living with the enemy,enemy
Living with the enemy, living with the enemy, enemy

Written in Black Ink
Upon
The tear-stained
Paper
She writes
Writes,
Her story
Her experiences
Her life
Written in
Black ink
Upon
The tear-stained
Paper
She writes
Writes,
Her sorrows
People she lost
People who are gone
Written in
Black ink
She writes for
Days and
Days
Until
At last
Her masterpiece
Is finished
Her eyes Begin to
Close and
Oblivion Takes hold
And when she
Awakens
Her story will be written
Written in black ink

We Are The Same...
gas rices up,
fuel prices up,
grocery prices up,
heating prices up...
and the poor man's dollar
is still a dollar!
cant afford sickness,
cant afford hospitals,
cant afford shelter,
cant afford, cant afford.
it's time to band together
in small communities,
and be neighbors again.
we cannot rely on the government,
on churches, on the elite...
we have each other,
and that is all!
forget about differences.
skin color, religion, politics...
let it go.
we are the same!
same needs, same desires,
same prayers, same love...
red blooded, dirty, stinking
human beings...
human beings in need
of each other!

The Mother Child
She's 46
but like a baby she clings
so obsessed with feeling wanted
she was never ment to be a mother
She's 15
takes herself so seriously
Has to be the mature one
has to pretend things are okay
She rarely laughs
rarely smiles
Oh, The mother child
At night she curls in a ball
clawing, clinging to her dreams
She dreams of laughter, fun, and smiles
She dreams of screaming and running for miles
But thats all they are
Because when she wakes
her mother lyes waiting, pleading
for the little mother child.
