I've grown so much since 1996. I think that was the turning point of when I started to go to church every Sunday and not just because you're supposed to. But because you enjoy going and listening to the Word and being excited about it.

What do I think of church?

Too Cold For Prayer?
The houses of worship have grown too cold.
I can't get warm in them
with all their gold.
I leave the church. I look around.
Pitiful people do I see
listening to the sound
of children starving as they cry.
I feel cold
and I ask God why?
Why do they kneel and sing and pray
in places too cold
on each Sunday?
The answers I get are all the same.
They pray to God

I Don't Believe 'You' Wrote This!
I am told I have a way with words.
I am encouraged when I hear that said.
I remember listening to my father talk.
And when he would sing...
He would bring a different meaning,
To each word I heard.
And what his singing to them he would bring.
My mother would play the piano.
Thunderous and loud!
And when I walked through the projects...
I would sing to the trees,
I once walked into one...
Humming to the clouds.
I would make up melodies and tunes with words.
Mocking my dad and my mother's love,
For gospel verse she would rehearse.
I didn't think anything really about words I wrote.
Until my sister read a poem of mine.
And I wanted to choke her by the throat!
YES!
She was the first to read something I wrote out loud.
I was embarrassed by that.
Her nosy grown up butt...
Reading my 'stuff' behind my back!
And then she said to me,
'I don't believe 'you' wrote this! '
I must have been 13 years old...
When I started to make my writing public.
I am told I have a way with words.
I am encouraged when I hear that said.
I remember listening to my father talk.

Each 'thing' I write now...

He's My Friend
He promised me that when we started, He would be with me to the end,
For He isn't just a man, but He's my Lord, and my God, and my Friend.
Understanding these basic facts the early Church stood in one accord,
For this very unity of the Church is for what The Lord had implored.
The very Word that started the Church, must today be again explored,
As adherence to The Word is the only way true unity will be restored.
It is Jesus Christ who is that very Word, and He will not be ignored,
For being sent with The Father's authority, to many He is their Lord.
For He was given full authority from His Father with a pleasing nod,
And when Doubting Thomas saw Him, he responded “My Lord and My God.”
So my dear friend its time to strip off your useless worldly facade,
For when Christ returns, He will rule His Eternal Kingdom with a rod.
For Christ knows all about your life and where your feet have trod,
And Jesus leads to paths of righteousness, for many He is their God.
He commanded us to preach the Gospel, before to Heaven He did ascend,
It is The Truth for us to live by, not simply an option to recommend.
This is a message that many with hardened hearts won't comprehend,
And there are those who live unrighteous, whose hearts it will offend.
Let Him in and see, that the darkest heart His Grace will transcend,
For Jesus Christ would like to be your Lord, your God, and Friend.

Stories Of Hope Series #9 A Drug Addicts Salvation
An educated man, yet he was a fool
He put drugs in his body and let it rule.
He started off slowly with just some pot
He enjoyed the high and would not stop.
He then decided to try cocaine
This was the turning point and what a shame
Everyone was talking about free basing and crack
Once he did that there was no turning back
He became the street poet - for all to see
The poetry he spoke, he spoke beautifully.
Words flowed thru his mind
Like a smooth river of rhyme.
He spoke of days of old when knights were bold
Of wars and loves of histories past
And he knew that this would not last.
His dabbing in drugs was destroying his life
He lost his friends, his family
His children and wife.
And as he stood on the corner that day
Across from him a church a bit away.
He walked over to it not knowing
What to expect, worse than this it could not get.
He walked inside and began to pray
“ help me LORD for I’ve gone astray
Put me on the path of light
Help me to make this wrong a right.
Give me the strength to stop all of this
For the things I had I truly miss.
His chest started to swell up inside
He fell to his knees and began to cry
He felt someone touch his head
And these words was simply said:
Help yourself and I will help you
Put faith and love in your heart
Is all you have to do.
He stopped his crying and turned around
No one was there to be found.
He committed himself to the hospital
That day, and from then on
He did not stray.
Now he preaches in a store front church
And with GOD sits high on a perch.
There is nothing that can bring him down
For CHRIST he has found.
HOPE IS THE KEY IT WILL SET YOU FREE
