Some of the songs I do once in a while that I kinda... my set list is basically like my hits, there is a good reason why they are there; people really like them.

Truth is, you make albums, and some of those songs are hits, and some of the greatest hits albums have songs that weren't hits. You have a career, the reason why we're still around 10 years is that we do have successful songs.

Ex-girlfriend
I kinda always knew Id end up your ex-girlfriend
I kinda always knew Id end up your ex-girlfriend
I kinda always knew Id end up your ex-girlfriend
I hope I hold a special place with the rest of them
And you know it makes me sick to be on that list
But I should have thought of that before we kissed
You say youre gonna burn before you mellow
I will be the one to burn you
Whyd you have to go and pick me?
When you that we were different, completely
I kinda always knew Id end up your ex-girlfriend
I kinda always knew Id end up your ex-girlfriend
I hope I hold a special place with the rest of them
I kinda always knew Id end up your ex-girlfriend
Im another ex-girlfriend on your list
But I should have thought of that before we kissed
Your wildness scares me
So does your freedom
You say you cant stand the restrictions
I find myself trying to change you
If you were meant to be my lover I wouldnt have to
And I feel so mean, I feel in between
cause Im about to give you away
I kinda always knew Id end up your ex-girlfriend (for someone else to take)
I kinda always knew Id end up your ex-girlfriend (am I making a mistake? )
I hope I hold a special place with the rest of them (all the time that we
Spent) I kinda always knew Id end up your ex-girl, friend
Im another ex-girlfriend on your list
But I should have thought of that before we kissed
Im another ex-girlfriend on your list
But I should have thought of that before we kissed
Im about to give you away for someone else to take
Im about to give you away for someone else to take
We keep repeating mistakes for souvenirs
And weve been in between the days for years
And I know that when I see you Im going to die
I know Im going to want you and you know why
Its going to kill me to see you with the next girl
cause Im the most gorgeously jealous kind of ex-girl
I kinda always knew Id end up your ex-girlfriend
I kinda always knew Id end up your ex-girlfriend
I hope I hold a special place with the rest of them
I kinda always knew Id end up your ex-girl friend
Im another ex-girlfriend on your list
But I should have thought of that before we kissed
Im another ex-girlfriend on your list
But I should have thought of that before we kissed

Some Kinda Good Kinda (Hold On Me)
She's got some kinda good kinda hold on me
She's some kinda fine sho-nuff sweet
Wrapped up in her love is I wanna be
She's got some kinda good kinda hold on me
I can't get enough of my baby's huggin' and kissin'
I never knew a girl who could do what she's doing to me
With just one touch she cast a spell
I'm tangled up

Its My Job
By: mac mcanally
1970
For mac who reminds me of me seven years ago
In the middle of late last night I was sittin on a curb
I didnt know what about, but I was feelin quite disturbed
A street sweeper came whistlin by, he was bouncin every step
It seemed strange how good he felt, so I asked him while he swept
Chorus:
He said, its my job to be cleaning up this mess
And thats enough reason to go for me
Its my job to be better than the rest
And that makes a day for me.
I got an uncle who owns a bank, hes a self-made millionaire
He never had anyone to love, never had no one to care
He always seemed kinda sad to me and I asked him why that was
And he told me its because in my contract theres this clause
Chorus:
That says, its my job to be worried half to death
And thats the thing people respect in me
Its my job but without it Id be less
Than what I expect from me.
Now Ive been lazy most all my life writin songs and sleepin late
And any manual labor Ive done was purely by mistake
If street sweepers can smile then Ive got no right to feel upset
But sometimes I still forget
til the lights go on and the stage is set
And the song hits home and you feel that sweat
Chorus:
Its my job to be different than the rest
And thats enough reason to go for me
Its my job to be better than the rest
And thats a rough break for me
Chorus:
Its my job to be cleaning up this mess
And thats enough reason to go for me
Its my job to be better than the rest
And that makes the day for me

The boys call me up and want to tell me
About the fun Ive been missing
They want to know why I let her keep me under lock and key
But I got what theyre looking for when she gets me behind closed doors

When you're doing the traditional musicals, singing songs that are 40 and 50 years old, you realize there's a reason why those musicals are hits. These are amazing songs!
Songs About Me
Songs About Me
Trace Adkins
I met a guy on a Red Eye, he spotted my guitar and said Whada you do?
I said I sing for a livin.Country music mixed with a little rock and a little blues.
He said Im sorry but Ive never been crazy bout that twang and trains and hillbilly things.
Whatever made you want to sing stuff like that?
I just looked at him and laughed and said.
Cause its songs about me
And who I am
Songs about lovin and livin and good hearted women, family and God
Yeah theyre all just songs about me
Songs about me
So I offered him tickets.I said Youll see what I mean if you show up tonight.
He said I doubt youll change my opinion .Ill be kinda busy but hey man, Ill try.
Then later on when we finished our songs about scars and cars and broken hearts,
I saw him, he was standing there right next to the stage and he shouted
Man you were right it was like you sang those
Songs about me and who I am
Songs about lovin and livin and good hearted women, family and God
Yeah theyre all just songs about me
Songs about me, yeah
So Ill just keep on singing til I hear the whole world singing.
Those are songs about me and who I am.
Songs about lovin and livin and good hearted women, family and God.
Yeah theyre all just songs about me.
Songs about me.

Every Kinda People
(andy fraser)
Said the fight to make ends meet
Keeps a man upon his feet
Holding down his job
Trying to show he cant be bought
Ooh it takes every kinda people
To make what lifes about, yeah
Every kinda people
To make the world go round
Someones looking for a lead
In his duty to a king or to a creed
Protecting what he feels is right
Fights against wrong with his life
Theres no profit in deceit
Honest men know that
Revenge does not taste sweet
Whether yellow, black or white
Each and every mans the same inside
It takes every kinda people
To make what lifes about, yeah
It takes every kinda people
To make the world go round
Doo doo doo......
You know that loves the only goal
That could bring a peace to any soul
Hey and every mans the same
He wants the sunshine in his name
It takes every kinda people
To make what lifes about, yeah
It takes every kinda people
To make the world go round
Mmmm, every kinda people
To make what lifes about

Reason To Believe
Seen a man standin over a dead dog lyin by the highway in a ditch
Hes lookin down kinda puzzled pokin that dog with a stick
Got his car door flung open hes standin out on highway 31
Like if he stood there long enough that dogd get up and run
Struck me kinda funny seem kinda funny sir to me
At the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe
Now mary lou loved johnny with a love mean and true
She said baby Ill work for you every day and bring my money home to you
One day he up and left her and ever since that
She waits down at the end of that dirt road for young johnny to come back
Struck me kinda funny seemed kind of funny sir to me
How at the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe
Take a baby to the river kyle william they called him
Wash the baby in the water take away little kyles sin
In a whitewash shotgun shack an old man passes away
Take his body to the graveyard and over him they pray
Lord wont you tell us tell us what does it mean
Still at the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe
Congregation gathers down by the riverside
Preacher stands with his Bible groom stands waitin for his bride
Congregation gone and the sun sets behind a weepin willow tree
Groom stands alone and watches the river rush on so effortlessly
Lord and hes wonderin where can his baby be
Still at the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe

It's not a bad problem to have because a lot of classic acts are known for one or two songs and in their show they basically hold those songs off until the end and you sit through an hour or so of lesser known material but in our case most of the songs are well known.

One Good Reason
Give me one good reason
That I should care
Give me one good reason
And Ill be there
Like a thief youve stolen
Like rain on a grave
Like a priest whos spoken
But failed to save
Now the air is empty
And the ground the same
Love has gone to be buried
Beside my name
Give me one good reason
That I should care
Give me one good reason
And Ill be there
Why couldnt you have told me
About your liars kiss
I cant believe youd leave me
At a time like this
And the wind is howling
And its a dying dream
And my faith is silent
While my doubts scream
Give me one good reason
That I should care
Give me one good reason
And Ill be there
Give me one good reason
Give me one good reason
Give me one good reason
That I should care
Give me one good reason
Give me one good reason
Give me one good reason
That I should care
Give me one good reason

Thats The Kinda Love I Got For You
(d. fletcher / d. parks)
From a mountain high to a valley low
Stronger than the strongest and even more
Running deep, as deep can go
And can even turn your darkest clouds to falling snow
Thats the kinda love I got for you, yeah
Thats the kinda love I got for you-hoo-oo
I cant help myself
I cant help myself
Oh, I love ya
Well, I just cant help myself
Like falling water on desert sand
Making flowers grow on barren land, yeah
Ever growin, growin long
Heaven only knows just how much it grows, ah
Thats the kinda love I got for you-oo
Thats the kinda love I got for you-hoo-oo
I cant help myself
I cant help myself
I love ya
Baby, I just cant help myself, no
Im playing with fire
Ive lost control, yeah
Oh this lovely feeling
Burns to my very soul
Burning hot, as hot as I can go
Cant seem to help myself
Just got to let you know
Thats the kinda love I got for you
Thats the kinda love I got for you-hoo-hoo
Thats the kinda love I got for you, baby
Thats the kinda love I got for, yeah
Oh, come and get it, honey
Cant help myself
This love of mine
Oh, its getting stronger
Cant help myself
Cant wait much longer, yeah

My Kinda Life
Right from early days from the moment I was born
I would take my guitar in the early early mornin
And go down to the fields and play-ay-ay
Sittin down there in the long grass strummin
I could see the people from miles around comin
To hear me sing my music and play-ay-ay
Well thats been my kinda life my kinda life (yes and I like it)
Well thats been my kinda life my kinda life (yes and I like it)
Well thats been my kinda life yeah and I wouldnt spend it anywhere
Other than sittin down somewhere playin away my days
Well we made it to the city just me and my guitar
That was where I found a freaky little bar
I sat there on the stage and play-ay-ayed
Well up came a guy who said it wasnt plastic
He wanted me to sing away my life or something drastic
But all I wanna do is play-ay-ay
Well thats been my kinda life my kinda life (yes and I like it)
Well thats been my kinda life my kinda life (yes and I like it)
Well thats been my kinda life yeah and I wouldnt spend it anywhere
Other than sittin down somewhere playin away my days
Well fame and fortune Ive let them pass me by
No one in the country could say I didnt try
To turn the people and to play-ay-ay
You can keep all the money and the places that go with it
Cos all I want is freedom and no cash could ever get it
All I wanna do is play-ay-ay
Well thats been my kinda life my kinda life (yes and I like it)
Well thats been my kinda life my kinda life (yes and I like it)
Well thats been my kinda life yeah and I wouldnt spend it anywhere
Other than sittin down somewhere playin away my days

Kinda Fonda Wanda
Well, I went with mary lou
Tried peggy sue
Had a date with donna
And barbara ann too
But Im kinda fonda wanda.
Kinda fonda wanda.
Yeah, Im kinda fonda wanda.
cause wanda always wanna, wanna, wanna.
Well, I went out with jenny
Took out skinny minnie
Long tall sally
And short fat fanny.
But Im kinda fonda wanda.
Kinda fonda wanda.
Yeah, Im kinda fonda wanda.
cause wanda always wanna, wanna, wanna.
Did the bop with miss ann
The swim with mary ann,
The stroll with betty lou
Screwed runaround sue
But she wasnt as good as wanda,
No, shell never be as good as wanda.
Im kinda fonda wanda.
cause wanda always wanna, wanna, wanna.
Wanna, wanna, wanna, wanna, wanna, wanna.
Kinda fonda wanda.

Listen mister I can not see
Any reason for lyin
I can see inside your head
To the back of your mind, yeah
Get it together
Get it together before you lose
Get it together
Get it together before you lose
Here I am on my knees
And not afraid of dieing
Suddenly it occurs to me
There was really no sense in trying
Yes I know it seems strange to you
But its our way of living
I cant see for the life of me
Why youre so afraid to reason
Listen mister I can not see
Any reason for lyin
Things just arent like they use to be
Nd theres no sense in tryin
Get it together
Get it together before you lose
Get it together
Get it together before you lose
A good reason I cannot see
A good reason I cannot see
A good reason I cannot see
A good reason I cannot see
A good reason I cannot see
A good reason I cannot see
A good reason I cannot see
A good reason I cannot see
A good reason I cannot see
