I like to watch many things, especially strange films and something recent, not just the story.

Some of these things I saw in foreign films - African films, Cuban films - long before I decided to really go on this course as an actor. I started to think about what values I saw in those films that I wanted to bring to my projects.

Strange Things
I was on top of the world
It was right in my pocket
I was livin' the life
Things were just the way they should be
When from out of the sky like a bomb comes some little punk in a rocket
Now all of a sudden some strange things are happenin' to me
I had friends,
I had lots of friends
Now all my friends are gone
And I'm doin' the best I can to carry on
I had power (power)
I was respected (respect)
But not any more
And I've lost the love to the one whom I adored
Let me tell you about the strange things are happenin' to me
Strange things
Strange things are happenin' to me...
Ain't no doubt about it
You got someone you think you know well
It turns out a stranger
The minute you turn your back
You're in it all by yourself
They laugh at your jokes
You think you're doin' well
But you're in danger, boy
You end up alone, forgotten, way up on the shelf
Strange things are happenin' to me
Strange things
Strange things are happenin' to me
Ain't no doubt about it
Strange things are happenin' to me
Strange things
Strange things are happenin' to me
Strange things

Traffic is one of the most powerful films to come out in recent years. It blew me away.
There were a lot of people dreaming about making films, and they would finance maybe 6 films a year. Because they were funded by the government, the films sort-of had to deal with serious social issues - and, as a result, nobody went to see those films.

It is gorgeously shot, and Andrew believes that the old school way of making films in the best way. Meaning: you have a story, and you stick to the story. You don't change and alter the story because of people who've invested in it and what to put product in a shot.

If it helps me in the way that if this movie is successful, I get to make more films, great, and the more films that I make and the more interest that I'm allowed to cover, the better for me and the better, hopefully, for the people who like to watch me.

Moving Background
At least this nondescript time is lightened by a new craze
of mine: full-cream milk powder, a lifesaver, coffee tastes
like heaven, and real butter on everything, it means I eat
less meat, hope more animals will live because of this, at
present all I read is hurricane Sandy & work documents
Life would have been unbearable if it was not for a James
Bond movie series with scenes I love and hate, the TV is
left on, volume turned down to give a feeling of freedom
when seeing something interesting in passing, enjoying
007's adventures as a moving background to my life
The more recent movies lack the theme music and cool
humour of the first Sean Connery reels, the recent films
contain scenes too bland and boring to watch - perfect
as a fantastic screen saver when life starts wounding
down and nothing remarkable is happening

The key fact missed most often by social scientists utilizing documentary films for data, is this: documentary films are not found or reported things; they're made things.

There are films you see that only reach your eyes. Then there are films that you can watch... that reach down to your throat, or reach your heart. ""In the Mood for Love,"" though, reached all the way to my belly.

Strange
Start making sense
Of everything Ive seen before, well, um
Somewhere in my life
Been paying the price
But that aint enough anymore, well
Dont get me wrong now baby
Dont get me wrong baby
Strange, strange, strange
Things that happen to me
I dont know if Im coming or going, baby, well
Strange, strange, strange
Things you keep on doing
Somethings getting outta control
Cant help myself
To everything Im looking for
No, no, no
Sometimes I cant explain
Why I go insane
It just isnt fun anymore, well
Dont get me wrong now baby
Dont get me wrong baby
Strange, strange, strange
Things that happen to me
I dont know if Im coming or going, baby, well
Strange, strange, strange
Things you keep on doing
Somethings getting outta control
Outta control
Yeah
Shame on you
Dont get me wrong now baby
Dont get me wrong baby
Strange, strange, strange
Things that happen to me
I dont know if Im coming or going, baby, well
Strange, strange, strange
Things you keep on doing (keep on doing)
Somethings getting outta control
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, well
Strange, strange, strange
Things that happen to me
I dont know if Im coming or going, baby, well
Strange, strange, strange
Things you keep on doing (keep on doing)
Somethings getting outta
Somethings getting outta
Somethings getting outta control
Outta control
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Strange, strange, strange
Things you keep on doing
Strange, strange, strange
Things that happen to me
Strange, strange, strange
Things you keep on doing
Strange, strange, strange
Things that happen to me
To me, to me
Yes I will
Yes I will
No, woooh

Who Gave It To You?
I was not using it and,
You were not using it either!
But, who gave it to you?
Hew, dew, few, brew, drew, threw;
But this story started long ago!
And your lips are now red,
So, who gave it to you?
Slew, sew, stew, pew, spew, mew;
Strange food,
Strange meat,
Strange people,
Strange land,
Strange culture,
Strange love,
Crew, grew, new, strew, screw;
But, with your red lips! !
So, who gave it to you?

I think if you look at Sam Raimi and Jim Cameron, those guys know things about filmmaking that almost nobody knows anymore. They are students of film from when they handmade films themselves, you know cut films with their own hands and razor blades and tape.

Childhood Lost?
Can you tell me a story, Mom and Dad
Have to finish my office work, Dad said
I am watching my favourite TV serial, said Mom
Little, just a little story ('time', he meant)
Did you finish your homework
Haven't you any story books to read
Or Disney movies to watch on the VCR
Or games to play on your play-station
Dear, I have to finish my project
Let me watch TV in peace, darling
OK. No problem, said the child
Silently curled up in his bed and prayed
Tell me GOD, will they tell me a story tomorrow

Strange Magic
Youre sailing softly through the sun
In a broken stone age dawn.
You fly so high.
I get a strange magic,
Oh, what a strange magic,
Oh, its a strange magic.
Got a strange magic,
Got a strange magic.
Youre walking meadows in my mind,
Making waves across my time,
Oh no, oh no.
I get a strange magic,
Oh, what a strange magic,
Oh, its a strange magic.
Got a strange magic,
Got a strange magic.
Oh, Im never gonna be the same again,
Now Ive seen the way its got to end,
Sweet dream, sweet dream.
Strange magic,
Oh, what a strange magic,
Oh, its a strange magic.
Got a strange magic,
Got a strange magic.
Its magic, its magic, its magic.
Strange magic,
Oh, what a strange magic,
Oh, its a strange magic.
Got a strange magic.
Strange magic strange magic
Oh, what a strange magic strange magic
Oh, its a strange magic.
Got a strange magic.
Strange magic strange magic
Oh, what a strange magic strange magic
Oh, its a strange magic.
Got a strange magic,
Got a strange magic,
You know I got a strange magic,
Yeah, I got a strange magic,
Oo-o-o-oo, strange magic. (fade)

Aint It Funny[Murder Remix] - Caddillac Tah
Estoy loca enamorda de ti...
It seemed to be like the perfect thing for you & me
Its so ironic youre what I had pictured you to be
But there are facts in our lives we can never change
Just tell me that you understand & you feel the same
This perfect romance that Ive created in my mind
Id live a thousand lives
Each one with you right by my side
But yet we find ourselves
In a less than perfect circumstance
And so it seems like well never have the chance
Aint it funny how some feelings you just cant deny
And you cant move on even though you try
Aint it strange when your feeling things you shouldnt feel
Oh , I wish this could be real
Aint it funny how a moment could just change your life
And you dont want to face whats wrong or right
Aint it strange how fate can play a part
In the story of your heart
Sometimes I think that a true love can never be
I just believe that somehow it wasnt meant for me
Life can be cruel in a way that I cant explain
And I dont think that I could face it all again
I barely know you but somehow I know what youre about
A deeper love Ive found in you & I no longer doubt
Youve touched my heart & it altered every plan Ive made
And now I feel that I dont have to be afraid
Aint it funny how some feelings you just cant deny
And you cant moved on even though you try
Aint it strange when your feeling things you shouldnt feel
Oh , I wish this could be real
Aint it funny how a momant could just change your life
And you dont want to face whats wrong or right
Aint it strange how fate can play a part
In the story of your heart
I locked away my heart but you just set it free
Emotions I felt held me back from what my life should be
I pushed you far away & yet you stayed with me
I guess this means that you & me were meant to be
Aint it funny how some feelings you just cant deny
And you cant moved on even though you try
Aint it strange when your feeling things you shouldnt feel
Oh , I wish this could be real
Aint it funny how a momant could just change your life
And you dont want to face whats wrong or right
Aint it strange how fate can play a part
In the story of your heart
Aint it funny how some feelings you just cant deny
And you cant moved on even though you try
Aint it strange when your feeling things you shouldnt feel
Oh , I wish this could be real
Aint it funny how a momant could just change your life
And you dont want to face whats wrong or right
Aint it strange how fate can play a part
In the story of your heart

Aint it strange when your feeling things you shouldnt feel

You have to nail the right tone because sometimes when you just see his films cold, you're not quite sure. It's the same in - I'm trying to think of other directors with a similar sense - David Lynch's films, Tim's films, some of Cronenberg's stuff.

I made a series of wrong decisions about moderately recent books, and I've sold the rights to studios for ridiculous amounts of money and the films have never been made. That's the saddest thing of all, because they're locked up and no one else can make them.
