Tone is up for grabs in what we do - what's the tone of the scene.

Tone
Find me a tone for this poem
I am having a hard time
With putting the proper tone
Though I am pretty sure
Of its form
What form to use
The shape of the swan
A white swan
On a lake
Alone
Give me a tone
That conveys what I
Want to convey
To you
A language
That really means
What it says
Something
Creative
A path
That I must
Follow
Leading me
To you
Give me a tone
Please
A tone from
You
The one
I really love
The one
That must
Love me
Too
Truly,
Tell me
What is the
Tone now
Of this poem
Is it begging?

Her Laugh Divine
Ah, her laughter known to many
Though they know not what it is
to hear it by the innocent suitor
Happiness never known before
Till she laughs in her tone
the tone of her laugh divine
It's the tone of the lovers happy in life
it's the tone of the angel who passed from mankind
It's the tone of nature in the fall and the spring
It's the tone of perfection known only to those
who's heard her laugh divine
If only but a light chuckle
if only a quiet laugh
if only heard but a moment
joy for life obtained
the joyous feeling of her laugh divine
It's the joy of those engaged to be wed
it's the joy of a life once saved
it's the joy of the parents of a newborn babe
it's the joy of the men knowing the light
it's the joy of her laugh divine
So this is the feeling
nearly an obsession
this is the feeling of love
the love known to those
those only who's heard
Who's heard her laugh divine.
A Hero Farewell
In a faraway field I lay
A lone soldier with an unknown grave.
Nothing to be said, and nothing to be done
The heart the once had a beat,
Now remains still
The cross is raised and the sounds of guns now long gone.
The trumpets high tone sings a last tone and then fades away,
The tone of one last farewell to the lone soldier in his grave.

That tone of Music
That tone of dogs:
Is the one that turn her! ! !
Make her the legend of Africa
That made her the best of the best
That gives her the name “Mama Africa”
That made her think of tomorrow.
That tone of bird:
Made her tune on the radio
That made her say “I’m a Diva”
Made her say “I’m a weekend special”
That turns her to Brenda.
That tone of lion:
Made her the Lionel
Made her say “I’m African Madonna”
That made her sing “I’m Dangerous”
That made her the Drama Queen
That tone of music:
That made us proud
To say “I’m an African”
And made us walk free in that Island
And say “I’m proud of African music”
That tone of music, that says with small voices
Made me not take that plane to U.S.A
Made me stay in R.S.A
Made me forget about the past
Make me listen to music
That help that build, that changes, that ragtime
Made me who am I today?

Her Laughter (Revision of Her Laugh Divine)
Ah... her laughter,
Known to many, though they know not
That which is heard by the innocent suitor;
Happiness, never known before,
'Til she laughs in cadence divine:
The tone of lovers, happy in life,
The tone of angels who have passed from mankind
To glorious heaven;
The tone of nature in autumn and spring;
If only a light titter;
A quiet chortle;
Only heard a moment,
Still for life obtained:
The joy of her laughter
The joy of those soon to be wed;
The joy of life once saved;
The joy of parent's newborn;
The joy of men who know the light
The joyous tone of perfection....
This feeling, nearly an obsession;
This feeling of love,
Known only to those who have heard her laugh.
I didn't feel like going any further in this scene with the boy. He was not a professional actor, and if I had pushed the scene any further it would have destroyed the tone of the movie.

In A Mellow Tone
In a mellow tone
Feeling fancy free
And Im not alone
Ive got company
Everythings ok
The live long day
With this mellow song
I cant go wrong
In a mellow tone
Thats the way to live
If you mope and groan
Somethings gotta give
Just go your way
And laugh and play
Theres joy unknown
In a mellow tone
(scat)
In a mellow tone
(bridge)
In a mellow tone
Feeling fancy free
And Im not alone
Ive got company
Everythings ok
The live long day
With this mellow song
I cant go wrong
In a mellow tone
Thats the way to live
If you mope and groan
Somethings gotta give
Just go your way
And laugh and play
Theres joy unknown
In a mellow tone
In a mellow tone
In a mellow tone

Rights are always asserted in a tone of contention; and when this tone is adopted, it must rely upon force in the background, or else it will be laughed at.

Sometimes, in certain stories, I think we know at the outset essentially what the tone is going to be, or it becomes important that we're groping toward some kind of story with a certain kind of tone that we both get somehow. But I don't think how that's combined with other elements is ever in any way overtly discussed.
Minor Breathing
If only you could see.
What lies behind these fragile eyes.
The knowledge of these tears.
The reason I seem malign.
See, I was never prideful.
And forever, I felt scorned.
One's silence may seem frightful.
When he bows his head forlorn.
Knowing I've never fully triumphed.
Any chaos I have fought.
I cracked my blade in battle.
A repair that can't be bought.
Not pessimistic, nor of naught.
I just see things as they are.
That's probably why I can't believe.
How I've made it this far.
For, every path I trot.
I hear that wretched lonely tone.
And every breath exhaled.
I hear that solemn minor tone.
If only you could feel.
This fixated and tender heart.
These weakening hands still claw.
At it's reflective, fallen shards.
And in my somber dreams.
A cacophony of screams.
This madness, I can take.
Until that melody awakes.
For every move I make.
I hear that wretched lonely tone.
And every vein that pumps.
I hear that solemn minor tone.
That savage, painful tone.
Embedded in my flesh and bone.
The melodic burden drones.
My soul echoes it's metronome.

High Tone Woman
I been watchin' you watchin' her watchin' herself in the mirror,
In her tailor-made dress an' her long blonde hair,
An' her big diamond rings: her custom-made shoes.
And I can by the look on your face that you're makin' your move,
But she hasn't got time for a man who's tongue-tied.
An' she doesn't like cowboys an' thinks less of fools.
So, boy, don't you saddle yourself to a high-tone woman.
She'll cut up your heart like an' old credit card,
When the fun and the money runs out.
I've never seen an uptown, well-read thorougbred,
High-tone woman sink as low as you.
Instrumental break.
Hey, I'm on your side; don't go gettin' me wrong, now:
You're not a bad fellow at all.
But you're out of her league so stay in the bleachers:
Son, you couldn't please her if you had it all.
So, boy, don't you saddle yourself to a high-tone woman.
She'll cut up your heart like an' old credit card,
When the fun and the money runs out.
You're a fool if you saddle yourself to a high-tone woman. (I seen her.)
I've seen her cut up a heart like an' old credit card,
When the fun and the money runs out.
I've never seen an uptown, well-read thorougbred,
High-tone woman sink as low as you.
Oh no, I've never seen an uptown, well-read thorougbred,
High-tone woman sink as low as you.

You have to understand the tone of the movie, because if it's supposed to be funny, it can be funny violent like the Home Alone stuff, but you have to really understand the tone of what you're doing and make the action work for that and for the character.

Homage to a not unknown poet
Straightway - it's the tone.
Even; quiet but clear; is it writing, or is it talking?
As if to family: you're being filled in
on what happened yesterday or last week;
it's a continuation of what you last spoke of;
so no 'tone' about the tone;
you have a background of a lifetime's love
not to need to talk about;
you're friends even before you are family
if you know what I mean;
no family relationships hovering like ghosts
like your mother never quite stopped
sibling squabbling with your aunt;
it's harmless really - a silly evocation of childhood
and no-one else's concern;
so, good.
The no-tone tone: you're family,
so the voice expects you to be interested
enough to read
even if it's something to tell another family member later
whom it would concern more.
So no elaborations,
no false sentiment,
but a little dry comment
like a dry white wine perhaps,
they'll have the background for
because you're family.
That even tone - dull? No, not dull -
a quirky, individual voice
that tells a story deadpan
that makes you howl with laughter;
no, never dull..
The details: those events,
those small happinesses, small sweetnesses
(it sounds better in French -
petits bonheurs, petites douceurs) ,
the spoken words from open heart to open heart
which are the greatness of our
real, real life;
what's in the tidy drawers of the heart
when the house-clearers finally arrive.
And all around this family message to you who read,
called a poem,
quietly,
love.

A Happy Tone
We will have no more than a life to own,
We will reap, sure, what we have sown;
There will be years of despondence,
They can be good by a happy tone.
When light of hope and good goes out,
When old and young both tear a shout;
When darkness, fright and dread prevail,
A happy tone puts them to rout.

Memo Form The Mad Artist
It seems in my pensive solemn tone
I sit here quietly waiting for death
The wine does not ease my sorrow
Nor my remorseful thoughts which play
No there no silencing them it seems
Death it appears to be a career move
In death an artist is revered raised aloft
Perhaps the guilt of those around them
Darkling little thoughts are these
In this pensive solemn tone
Which sought some celebration
Passionate little soul it once were
Now embittered and distraught
Unequipped with the tools to face tomorrow
Surrenders to the night to sleep
In the hope of a dying sleep
The evil frightening idea is there
And around the cell is echoes
To be kept within a cage imprisoned
Sours the artists rage and tone
In all its solemn toll

Creation
An aesthetic inspiration:
A grand, heavenly spectacle
Evolving on a blue canvas
That is slowly painting itself.
A single golden orb appears
Whose fiery tone dominates
The scene and brightens the background.
Next poses fluffy cumuli
That silently journey across
On their way to infinity.
Within the scene an eagle glides
High in the sky on warm thermos.
Below an artist with brushes
And a multicolored palette.

We Give What We Have...
Once a lazy drone
asked a wild flower
how it doles out
nectar to all...
foes or friends.
It tried to chide
the meek flower
in degrading tone
and bragged about
the feats of his own-
Regardless, who grabs,
a fallen wretch or a king
I spare not anyone but
give a venomous sting
Then calmly replied
the generous flower:
Friend! You are right!
Really, we can give the world
only that, what we have had!
