I'm always reaching for something we really haven't done, and War of the Worlds has a lot of this sort of documentary look to it and first-person camera view that is a new thing for me. I've done some stuff like that before, but nothing like the extent of this and digitally.

I would take lots of falls and you know, get shot three or four times and this sort of thing, so all that sort of stuff. And there are tussles with various characters. I like that kind of thing.

Lazyman's Wise Prayer
LAZYMAN'S WISE PRAYER
If to that extent RICH indeed
I need not have to toil hard instead
If to that extent SHREWD indeed
I would have skipped some years instead
If to that extent BRAVE indeed
I could'nt have lost on more counts instead
If to that extent READY indeed
I should'nt have to repent now instead
If to that extent FOUGHT indeed
I ought to have won fast instead
If to that extent all B A D indeed
Better I should'nt have the right to live instead

Luv Your Stuff
(myles goodwyn)
Published by mfg sing sing music/socan - ascap
Everytime I get restless, I see my hand knockin on your door
And everytime Im in a fix baby, I start actin like I need you more
Well Ive been lookin for someone to talk to
And Ive been searchin for a better way
And Ive been runnin all over town, girl
Ive been lookin each and every way, yeah
But you got somethin special
And Im bein on the level with you
You got that thing that moves me, yeah
(great stuff, luv your stuff), mmm, I luv your stuff
(great stuff, luv your stuff), at five oclock in the morning
(great stuff, luv your stuff), still cant get enough
(great stuff, luv your stuff)
Livin like a fool in flames
You know that I been usin you, girl
And Im the one to blame
But babe, I got my cupboards all stocked and ready
What you get girl, is what you see
And youve been lookin inside my head now
And you got your arms wrapped around me, mmm
I got no thing for our candy
Its your lovin girl, that gets me down
You got that thing that moves me, yeah
(great stuff, luv your stuff), ooh, I luv your stuff
(great stuff, luv your stuff), send the bill in the morning
(great stuff, luv your stuff), I luv your stuff
(great stuff, luv your stuff), get busy
I got no sense of reason, I know I gotta make a deal
Its all comin down to somethin baby, its tellin me I got to get real, huh
I got my senses in a tuft, Im all mixed up, my temperatures starting to rise
And I cant seem to stay away from you, girl, I think its more than we realized, yeah
Wont you look what its doin
Its your lovin girl, that gets me down
You got that thing that moves me, yeah
(great stuff, luv your stuff), ooh, I luv your stuff
(great stuff, luv your stuff), Ill pay the price in the morning
(great stuff, luv your stuff), ooh, I luv your stuff
(great stuff, luv your stuff)

Danger
I've been told to expect it
I begin my descent
Down the cold granite steps
And who could have turned among those I confide in?
I think that I know what I haven't known yet
'Cause a week is a month
and an hour a day
When your reaching just pushes it further away
With your past and your future precisely divided
Am I at that moment?
I haven't decided
And stretching out into the sea... Aquitana
Is that what the prophet told me he saw?
You gave it to me but I really don't want it
I came out on top by the luck of the draw
'Cause a week is a month and an hour a day
When your reaching just pushes it further away
And what's the return on the faith I've provided?
I think that I know now but I haven't decided

Today my passion is still black and white. Today if I have an array of cameras in front of me the one I would reach for that I would feel most comfortable with would be a 4 X 5 View camera. I was once working in a sort of soft light situation.

Well, like any time you're shooting documentary stuff, you've got to be in the moment, and you've got to be able to be in control enough to capture what's happening.

I named it that because more or less each person from the band used to play in other bands and when we left respective bands other members from those bands all sort of changed round. It was a big sort of move thing. I got it from that, I suppose.
To trust or not
No one will die for you;
No one will die instead of you.
Restrict your trust.
Someone will shoulder you.
Someone will bail you out.
Extent your trust.
To what extent one must trust
In a person or a system
Is elusive to all.

Well, it was actually - I brought the idea of doing a documentary to HBO back in 2000, when there were some press reports sort of were bandied about that there were going to TV movies based on some of the books that were out.

I Haven't Forgotten
I haven't forgotten when I meet you first!
I haven't forgotten when I greet you last!
I haven't forgotten your pretty face!
I haven't forgotten your smile and grace!
I haven't forgotten how we started chatting!
I haven't forgotten when we started dating!
I haven't forgotten our last walk together!
I haven't forgotten how I became a loser!
I haven't forgotten how it became too late!
I haven't forgotten when I understood fate!
I haven't forgotten that summer's northwester!
I haven't forgotten and won't forget ever!

I Live In Other Worlds
I LIVE IN OTHER WORLDS
I live in other worlds-
Far from those most people live in
I am happy in my worlds-mostly
They do not bite or sting-
I live in other worlds
There are inward worlds
Quiet worlds
They have poems and music and stories in them-
I listen to them
And I make and remake them
as my own little worlds
Word- worlds mostly-
Like this one.

Another thing that was unique about working on this stuff was that I was engineering it. I used many of the things I had learned while I was away from the band. It sort of vindicated my decision to leave in '87.

A Certain Lust
ya see, i gotta certain lust, that makes me want to do stuff
theres so much i wanna do before my time is up, so much i wanna experience, so much i wanna see, so much i wanna smell, so much i wanna touch, so much i wanna play around with
see, i am a rather eccentric, loving unusual person, that is determined to live life with flair and laughter
i gotta certain lust for something better, and i hope that it last, last long enough to be wanted, to bee needed, by a person that really believes in me
or maybe, one day i'll soon realized that my lust for something better, was nothing but a lust that will never be furfilled, never furfilled that I would ever be loved for more then my body
but i have a certain lust, a lust for experience, to allow my body to feel free, deatched myself from this cruel world
live life feel life as it is, both bitter and sweet
just to say that everyday is a good day, not to focus onthe donts doesnts and cants
you might think being succesful is the only thing in life, but is it really, and if it is, how can you define successful
so like i said i have a certain lust, a certain lust for life, and to live it to its full extent

Nothing
(bob elgin / frank augustus / clarence lewis)
Baby, if a wall of stone were built around your heart
Oh, dont you know, dont you know?
I would tear the wall apart
cause nothing, nothing, nothing, I said no, not nothing
Nothing in the worlds gonna keep me away from you
If a sea of fire, it was surrounding you
Oh, dont you know, dont you know?
I would find a way to get through
Because nothing, nothing, nothing, I said no, not nothing
Nothing in the worlds gonna keep me away from you
Ive been listening, baby
For one thing, one little thing that I wanna hear
Come on and tell me, come on tell me
Do you really, really, really, really want me here?
Because nothing, nothing, nothing, I said no, not nothing
Nothing in the worlds gonna keep me away from you
Yeah, Im listening, baby
(nothing in the worlds gonna keep me away from you)
Yeah, Im listening, baby
For one thing, for one little thing that I wanna hear
Come on and tell me, come on and tell me
Do you really, really, really, really want me here?
Because nothing, nothing, I said nothing, no, no, not nothing
Nothing in the worlds gonna keep me away from you
Oh, I said nothing, I said nothing, I said nothing, no, no, no, no, not nothing
Nothing in the worlds gonna keep me away from you
Yeah, yeah
