I wander around, get the lay of the land and try to imagine what kind of people would have lived there in that historical period. What would they eat? What kind of clothing would they wear? How did they shelter themselves? How did they get around?

It's Kind of Funny
It's kind of funny how those who want life get it taken away,
while those who loathe it wander around.
Almost as if a waste.
It's kind of funny how those who try to do right get it spit back in their face.
The bad walk among us as if to be common people.
They, they get your respect.
It's kind of funny the people you love, they're usually the fall of you.
They say they're there for you but always somehow make you feel worthless.
It's kind of funny how everything can end so fast.
Everything can just disappear.
It's kind of funny how I wish I never met you.
I wish I could tell you.
I wish we could be.
And I wish that everything wasn't so funny and that everything could be what it is.
It's kind of funny how me and you,
we don't matter.
What I say and do will always be funny to you.
It's no longer funny.

What I found was when I started my first study, and then in subsequent studies, is here you have people under some kind of duress, or I chose to study them because they represented some kind of historical event, as it impacted on them or as they helped to create it.

If You Bite I'm Quick to Fight
You think it easy to whip up in me grief?
Because I come across as cool as can be.
Well let me tell you something you wont believe...
If you want to bite,
I'm quick to fight!
You think the life I've lived has been without knocks.
And nothing that I've faced has made my heart stop.
Well let me tell you this to set your clock right.
If you want to bite,
I'm quick to fight!
I'm not the kind to search and hunt enemies.
I'm not the kind to crawl around on my knees.
I'm not the kind to wear my heart on my sleeves.
I do the best I can to meet my own needs.
I'm not the kind to wish upon someone evil.
I'm not the kind to wish anyone ill.
I'm not the kind to stir up rage and upheaval.
Nor am I the kind that seeks such petty thrills.
You think it easy to whip up in me grief?
Because I come across as cool as can be.
Well let me tell you something you wont believe...
If you want to bite,
I'm quick to fight!
I'm not the kind to search and hunt enemies.
I'm not the kind to crawl around on my knees.
I'm not the kind to wear my heart on my sleeves.
But if you bite...
I'm quick to fight!
I'm not the kind to wish upon someone evil.
I'm not the kind to wish anyone ill.
I'm not the kind to stir up rage and upheaval.
But if you bite...
I'm quick to fight!
You think the life I've lived has been without knocks.
And nothing that I've faced has made my heart stop.
Well let me tell you this to set your clock right.
If you want to bite,
I'm quick to fight!
I'm not the kind to wish upon someone evil.
But if you bite...
I'm quick to fight!
I'm not the kind to stir up rage and upheaval.
But if you bite...
I'm quick to fight!
I'm not the kind to stir up rage and upheaval.
But if you bite...
I'm quick to fight!
I'm not the kind to stir up rage and upheaval.
But if you bite...
I'm quick to fight!

Not That Kind
All the time that we spend together
I won't fuss
I won't fight tryin to make you mine
Ha
Wooh
Ah c'mon
I said I'll love you 'til the 12th of never
But I won't run far ahead
Leaving you behind
You know I'm not that kind
'Cause I'm not that kind of girl
(Not that kind)
(Not that kind of girl)
And it's not my kind of world
(Not that kind)
(Not that kind of girl)
No it's not for me
(Not that kind)
Not where I wanna be

Shoehorn With Teeth
He wants a shoehorn, the kind with teeth
People should get beat up for stating their beliefs
He wants a shoehorn, the kind with teeth
Because he knows theres no such thing
He asks a girl if they can both sit in a chair but he doesnt get nervous
Shes not really there
He wants a shoehorn, the kind with teeth
Because he knows theres no such thing
Tour the world in a heavy metal band
But they run out of gas
The plane can never land
He wants a shoehorn, the kind with teeth
People should get beat up for stating their beliefs
He wants a shoehorn, the kind with teeth
Because he knows theres no such thing
Whats the sense in ever thinking about the tomb
When youre much too busy returning to the womb?
He wants a shoehorn, the kind with teeth
People should get beat up for stating their beliefs
He wants a shoehorn, the kind with teeth
Because he knows theres no such thing

A Love Above Loves
When I think of you
I think of a certain kind of love
When I hear your name
I hear a certain kind of love
When I look at you
I see a certain kind of love
When I hold you
I hold a certain kind of love
When I kiss you
I kiss a certain kind of love
When I touch you
I touch a certain kind of love
When I fell in love with you
I fell in love with a certain kind of love
When I'm with you
I'm with a certain kind of love
When I'm wrapped up in you
I'm wrapped up in a certain kind of love
This certain kind of love
Is stronger than love
It is a transcended state
A love that can only be gifted from above
A love that is greater than any other love
This certain kind of love
Is strong and true
This certain kind of love
Makes two people stay true
This certain kind of love
Can never be extinguished
I believe that we have this kind of love
A love so true
Maybe not love at first sight
But I do believe that I was meant for you
Do you believe it too?
This certain kind of love
Is a love above loves
This certain kind of love
Is a true love
So true

My Kind Of Town
My kind of town, Chicago is
My kind of town, Chicago is
My kind of people too
People who,smile at you
And each time I leave, Chicago is
Tugging my sleave, Chicago is
One town that won't let you down
It's my kind of town
My kind of town, Chicago is
My kind of town, Chicago is
My kind of razzmatazz
And it has, all that jazz
And each time I rome, Chicago is
Calling me home, Chicago is
One town that won't let you down
It's my kind of town
Chicago is
The Wrigley Building, Chicago is
The Union stock yard, Chicago is
One town that won't let you down
It's my
My kind of town

My Kind Of Woman - My Kind Of Man (feat. Patty Loveless)
You don't need diamonds or big fancy cars
You say you're happy right where you are
We're bound together by a little gold band
You're my kind of woman
Oh, you're my kind of man
Oh, living without you is my only fear
You still drive me crazy when I hold you near
My boudy trembles with the touch of your hand
You're my kind of woman
Oh, you're my kind of man
chorus:
You're my kind of woman
You're my kind of man
A match made in heaven
By God's gentle hands
I'll love you forever
Together we'll stand
You're my kind of woman
You're my kind of man
(repeat chorus)
You're my kind of woman
And you're my kind of man

Love Of Another Kind
They say love is cruel
They say love is rather fragile
But Ive found in you
A love of another kind.
They say love brings hurt
I say love brings healing
Understanding first
Its a love of another kind.
(bridge)
The love I know
Is a love so few discover
They need to know
Jesus love is like no other.
They save love wont last
I say love is neverending
Cause in you I have
A love of another kind.
They would change their tune
They would add another measure
If they only knew
This love of another kind.
(repeat bridge)
(repeat verses)
Love of another kind
The love of another kind
The love of another kind
The love of another, the love of another kind.
Give me love
This is love (this is love)
Another kind, another kind of love.
This is love (this is love)
You need another kind of love
Another kind, another kind of love.
Another kind of love
This is love
Give me love
Another kind, another kind of love.

Compassionate Man
(john farrar/chris christian)
Love you were kind and much older
Foolish but wiser than me
Am I becoming an anchor
Holding you back from the sea
Restlessly you stand there, crying silently
It must be so hard being easy on me
Compassionate man, so gentle
Trying hard to shelter me
Compassionate man, so kind
But the bottom line will be what it will be
Youre leaving me, leaving me
Love, my whole life was a desert
Then gently your love fell like rain
We lived for awhile in a garden
But now Im a desert again
Come right out and say it
Tell me honestly
It must be so hard being easy on me
Compassionate man, so gentle
Trying hard to shelter me
Compassionate man, so kind
But the bottom line will be what it will be
Youre leaving me, leaving me
Youre leaving me
Youre leaving me
Youre leaving me

Some Kind Of Friend
Music by Barry Manilow
Lyrics by Adrienne Anderson
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I saw you at the Beechwood Cafe
You looked at me and then you looked away
That was some kind
Some kind of friend you turned out to be
You said you had places that you had to be
Now who is gonna be there for me
That was some kind
Some kind of friend you turned out to be
Lady that was some kind
Some kind of friend you turned out to be
Baby that was some kind
Some kind of friend you turned out to be
They say that women like you can't get enough
Got your Maserati built for two
They say that women like you like to play
with love
Is that true?
When I ran into you the other day
You smiled at me but you had nothing to say
That was some kind
Some kind of friend you turned out to be
Tell me why'd you do what you did to me
Covered up your life so I couldn't see
Now that was some kind
Some kind of friend you turned out to be
Lady that was some kind
Some kind of friend you turned to be
Baby that was some kind
Some kind of friend you turned out to be
I never should have let you get to me
Nevershould have let you bring me down
Didn't know that I was just some fantasy
That you found.

Liquid
A bubbly drink has entered my stomach,
Through a period of time, in a minute.
The whole question is answered,
A little worry has disappeared,
The vest I wear will cushion me
As I wear the liquid of love.
The drink I wear is preposterous,
The money involved is tremendous,
The work I live in does not matter,
Those living in this country are dreaming
Of an abode in the very land of their heart.
My drink is this land, and very worth it.

Imagine the World
Imagine the world ……………………….
Imagine the world without wars…
Imagine the world without your laws
Imagine your life without fear
Imagine your eyes without a tear
Imagine all men were real men
Imagine…imagine…imagine…
Imagine life without hate
Imagine you knew your own fate
Imagine all children were happy
Imagine all nations were free
What would life be like?
Imagine no-one were blind
Imagine all the woes behind
Imagine…….imagine……..imagine….
Imagi ne earth were flat
Imagine man without a heart
Imagine the day without light
Imagine the dark without the night
Imagine……….imagine……imagine……
Imagine faces without a smile
Imagine birds without a nightingale
Imagine …imagine…imagine
What would life be like?

The Orphan's Friend
Come all kind, good people,
With sympathizing hearts,
Come listen to a few kind words
A friend to you imparts.
Be kind to an orphan child,
And always be its friend,
You will be happy in this world,
And will be to the end.
Be kind to the motherless,
Little motherless ones,
For God will forever bless
You in this world to come.
No kind and loving mother
To soothe their little brow,
Be kind to them always, friends,
They have no mother now.
Be kind to the fatherless,
Wherever you may find
One little one that is friendless,
I pray you all be kind.
For it has no loving father,
To speak with mild reproof,
Or guide its youthful footsteps
In honesty and truth.
Be kind to the little orphans,
They have no parents dear;
Be kind to the little orphans,
Speak to them words of cheer,
Then they will always love you
For kind and gentle words,
Then God will ever bless you,
For He says so in His word.

Don't Ask Me to Blubber About 9/11
We're the kind of people who would kill 100,000 Japs
(Hey; come on; they're only Japs) to find out if a weapon
Works. We're the kind of people who would kill
A million Filipinos so we'd have some colonies,
And we're the kind of people who would help
The Guatemalans to exterminate the Mayans so
Bananas wouldn't rise in price, and we're the kind
Of people who would lay waste to an Arab nation
Because we were angry that a group (of very clever)
Guys, who weren't from there, brought down some
Buildings here. I have to tell you this: in view of all
That we have done, I'm okay with those guys.

A Sunday Kind of Woman
I can only imagine for our worlds are far apart
How it would feel to hold this woman mouth to mouth heart to heart
I guess it's a good thing dreaming's free
What would a Sunday kind of woman
A Sunday kind of woman want an everyday man like me.
I've had lots of nightlife women you've seen one you've seen 'em all
And I wake up in the morning and I turn and face the wall
And long for someone special's company
But would a Sunday kind of woman
A Sunday kind of woman love an everyday man like me.
But would a Sunday kind of woman
A Sunday kind of woman love an everyday man like me.

Two Views Of the Same Country (Polar Opposites)
The land of plenty
The harmless country
The friendly land
That can only breed opportunity
Of 'righteous' people
Of 'open-minded' folk
The kind you talk to
While you have a smoke......
The land of sickly
The bully country
The greedy country
That can only survive on consumers
Of prejudice animals
Of close-minded folk
The kind that you poke fun at, just
For jokes..............

For The Homeless...
it is this season
that usually loneliness multiplies itself
unnecessarily perhaps like
a virus,
do you say that you are homeless?
oh, be kind
be kind most of all to yourself
shelter it
and keep it always at home inside
your heart
if there is no one else who will love you
perhaps i might as well
but i am always far away in the home of another
and i am always at home with my own self
a friend to me
and so you are left with no other possible option
be kind
try love as always
be lovely
just be at home with whoever
and whatever you are.
