Poem Under the Pillow~

The Poem Under Pillow

It was last year..
Oo maybe this year
Poem written to hear
The poem very dear
Left under the pillow
Left to alone to bear
Far away from our hear
No one could get too near
This poem was hidden clearly
Hidden from the eyes...
Hidden by the poet because of fear
Hidden from the worlds' ears
Oo what a poem my dears
This poem is still under the...

Do Yiu Listen..Or Do U Hear

s the sun rises, , all is quite no chatter of people no cars goin by
but in this silence i hear

i hear the wind as she sings her song
i hear the birds in the sky as they fly by
this is the best silence of all
no phones ringing, no engines reviing as they race by
i hear everything in nature in its glory
can u hear it too..or can u not silence ur selfs

i hear the clouds as they roll in
its this silence that i take pen in hand
and write
u think as u read but thier is no silence
for u can hear the horses roam
u can hear the thunder off in th distance
but when we are loud we caint hear
the beauty of what surrounds
so as u read this poem silence ur mind
and next time u walk out side
silence you mouth ur mind
and u can see silence of the
of all things
then u can truly hear
as i do
and a beautfull sound to see

You Complimented My Poem And I Did Not Have The Consideration To Read Yours

YOU COMPLIMENTED MY POEM AND I DID NOT HAVE THE CONSIDERATION TO READS YOURS

You complimented my poem and I did not have the consideration to read yours
Now I apologize to you without mentioning your name
Or reading your poem-

A weak apology
Meant to get me off the hook-

Still I know how lonely it is to write and write
And not hear the words you want to hear in reply

Forgive me
Perhaps I will read your poem or poems one day-
But I cannot promise.

I Don't Hear A Poem This Morning

I DON’T HEAR A POEM THIS MORNING

I don’t hear a poem this morning
I hear nothing but a computer hum
A silence which has no beauty in it
A fear which has no name.

I hear loneliness and sadness and doubt and trouble
I don’t hear ‘kindness’ and ‘love’
I hear ‘worry’
I hear Fear.

I hear nothing of Beauty or Kindness or Love
I hear a poem which once again
Says how difficult it all is.

What a troubled person I have always been
Even as I calmly write this now.

Sometimes I Read Or Hear A Poem

SOMETIMES I READ OR HEAR A POEM

Sometimes I read or hear a poem
And know there is real Poetry in the world-
Poetry that takes me beyond anything I myself could know or write-
Poetry of a different kind of Beauty -
A language I never thought to hear
But once heard charms and delights me
As never before.

There is Poetry-
And there are real Poets-
And there are yet Dreams to be written-

So write on Stranger
Maybe you are the next one
A real poet
A voice the world truly needs and wants and loves to hear
Beyond any ever heard before.

Invisible Handicap.

My ears don't work efficiently
But nature always compensates
It is with confidence I state
I can still read quite easily
The test card to the bottom line.
When mu optician tests my eyes
His verdict comes as no surprise.
He tells me that my eyes are fine
My eyes can supplement my ears.
I lip read automatically
Because I know that I can see
A great deal better than I hear
As long as I can see clearly.
My deafness will not hamper me.

Kaleidoscope and Harpsichord

As I've told my wife too many times,
the meaning of any poem hides
in the marriage of cadence and sound.

Vowels on a carousel,
consonants on a calliope,
whistles and bells,
we need them all
tickling our ears.
Otherwise, the lines
are gristle and fat, no meat.

Is it any wonder, then,
my wife has a problem
with any poem I give her to read
for a second opinion, especially
when the poem has no message
and I'm simply trying to hear
what I'm saying and don't care
if I understand it.

The other night in bed
I gave her another poem to read
and afterward she said this poem
was no different than the others.
She had hoped I'd improve.

'After all, ' she said,
'you've been writing for years
but reading a poem like this is
like looking through a kaleidoscope
while listening to a harpsichord.'

Point well taken,
point well said.

But then I asked her
what should a man do
if he has careened for years
through the caves of his mind
spelunking for the right
line for a poem

only to hear his wife say
after reading one of his poems
that it was like
'looking through a kaleidoscope
while listening to a harpsichord.'
What should he do-quit?

'Not a chance, '
she said this morning,
enthroned at the kitchen table,
as regal as ever in her fluttery gown
and buttering her English muffin
with long, languorous strokes
Van Gogh would envy.

'He should write even more,
all day and all night, if need be.
After all, ' she said, 'my line
about the kaleidoscope and harpsichord
still needs a poem of its own.
It's all meat, no gristle, no fat.'

Sleep little flea
Little boy ? me?
A freak
Am I clean?
([background whisper] sleep)
I feel like men
(sleep little flea)
I feel like boys
(little boy me)
I think Im peeling
And the ring in my ears
From playing too loud
I hear the ocean
I hear the crowd
Disconnected
I am unattached
Unmade bed makes me feel like a failure
Bedroom eyes lead to blurry vision
Blurry vision
Oh...
Oh...
And the ring in my ears
From playing too loud
I hear the ocean
I hear the crowd
Too pale, too sick
Too scrawny
But Ill sleep here anyway
And the sheets smell like bodies
Not mine
Not yours
Not yours...
Its 2 am
And its quiet again
Wheres my lip gloss?
And the ring in my ears
From playing too loud
I hear the ocean
I hear the crowd
And the ring in my ears
From playing too loud
I hear the ocean
I hear the crowd
And the ring in my ears
From playing too loud
I hear the ocean
I hear the crowd

I hear my own music
My poem sounds to me
Like a poem-
But do you hear my poem
As a poem?
And do you feel the rhythm
Of a soul in tune
With its own doubtful singing?

I Try

I TRY

I may have no poem today -
And perhaps no poem tomorrow-
And perhaps no real poem at all ever-

I have the desire for
And the love of poetry,
And the writing of my words
The telling of my soul
With whatever music and meaning I can give-

I try-
But is ‘Trying’ good enough?

I hear the poem within myself
Do you hear it at all?

Can You Hear Me Lucinda?

I am yelling Lucinda...
Asking you to open up your ears--
For you have been deaf far too long--
For way too many years;

Theres so much that you've missed out on...
With those ears that have been closed...
Can you hear me Lucinda?
All of the rhyme, the reason, the prose? ;

And what of your eyes Lucinda?
How long are you going to just keep looking away?
The truth is staring you in the face, Lucinda...
All of the horrid of yesterday! ;

Is it all just too heart wrenching?
Too much for your broken heart to face?
Can you hear me now Lucinda?
Beyond all of the ruffles, trifles and the frilly lace? ;

Beyond all of their false praise?
Beyond all of your friends who only pretend?
Beyond all of the reality that you face this day?
Beyond all of your real enemies eventual end? ;

Can you hear me now, Lucinda?
Are your ears opened up wide?
Are your eyes finally focusing, Lucinda?
There is no reason for you to hide! ;

For it was always them, Lucinda...!
It was always their plans and their schemes...! ! !
Counterfeit souls with greedy greenback goals...! ! !
Who shattered all of your dreams! ;

I know its all too painful...
But face them you must-my dear!
Its time for your eyes to see them and their reality...!
And its time for your ears to fully hear! ;

Nothing and Everything

Do you want to hear my poem?
It's very sweet indeed,
Some may say it's a sonnet,
Some may have disagreed,
You see it's about nothing,
Besides everything blue,
and pink and purple and red,
Maybe even yellow?
Perhaps it was something I said,
But nevertheless I still hear,
Just sitting here, sipping my beer.
Did I make everything clear?
Or do I need to repeat my words?
Do you want to hear my poem?

I Hear My Own Poems Rushing In Me

I HEAR MY OWN POEM RUSHING IN ME

I hear my own poem rushing in me
Despite my sadness and my despair
It tells me I am still alive-

I hear it rushing in me now
As these lines wonder too,
What will be next?
And if I will end it right?
And whether or not it is a true poem?

A rushing in me now-
Like words written and forgotten
So many times
Not so long ago-

I Can Sense It Coming

I can sense it coming
I hear it from within
The words are here
A poem-

But whether what I feel as a poem
Is a poem
Is another question-

Words come
Perhaps they are only prose -

Not every sound which comes from within is beautiful
And not every word I wait to hear is a poem-

Should I stop here
Or is this already enough for now?

A Poem Needs Silence

A POEM NEEDS SILENCE TO HEAR ITSELF BE HEARD

A poem needs silence to hear itself be heard
Background clutter destroys the holy word.
Let the music play elsewhere,
Let the talkers aloud outside,
A poem needs silence
To hear itself inside.

Tell Me It's Over

Is she somewhere in the city?
Is she somewhere in this town?
What's her name?
What does she look like?
Is she fun to be around?
Does she make you feel like I did?
Oh so long ago

I wanna hear it from you
Tell me that it's over
Let me hear it from you
Tell me that it's over
I wanna hear it from you

First you look at me with anger in your eyes
Then you look at me with spite
That's if you look at me at all
That's how I'm looking at you tonight

You tell me that love's a drag for you
But when the lights go out you panic

I wanna hear it from you
Tell me that it's over
Let me hear it from you
Tell me that it's over
I wanna hear it from you

I know I must be some kind of fool
To be in love with you
To be in love with you

Tell me that it's over
Let me hear it from you
Tell me that it's over
I wanna hear it from you
Tell me that it's over
Let me hear it from you
Tell me that it's over
I wanna hear it from you
Tell me that it's over
I wanna hear it from you
Tell me that it's over
Let me hear it from you
Tell me that it's over

Do Not Read! ! !

Don't read this poem!
Turn back while you have the chance
Or you will regret it
This poem is a poem of darkness
This poem is a devourer of souls
It will destroy you
Consume you
Absorb you into its black depths
I tried to warn you
I told you not to read it
Why are you still reading?
If I had named it 'READ THIS POEM! ! ! '
Would you have even bothered?
This poem is pulling you in
It has your feet
It's eating you
It's shattering your soul
It's never going to let you go
It's murdering you
This poem is a murderer
It is a criminal, it is evil
It is unnameable, unbreakable, imperfect
This poem has you
It's too late for you now
There's no escape for you now
Too bad
This poem has you
This poem's devoured you
Yummm, good
This poem is satisfied now
You should have listened to me
But you didn't
And now the poem's taken you
You're dead.

I Thought To Begin The Day With A Poem

I THOUGHT TO BEGIN THE DAY WITH A POEM

I thought to begin the day with a poem
But inside myself I hear only my own slow emptiness
Word by word I try to hear
And there is some small motion now
But still
A real poem
A poem of beauty
A poem of light
A poem of love
A poem that makes the dreamer long to dream-
And the lover long to love-
A poem that moves-

Well it is very very dark outside
And the world straining to give
Small rain to a dry land
Seems to say,

‘There may be a poem today
But it is not the poem you dream
Not the poem others will love
As you have loved
True poetry.’
