A year ago I was in the city of Genoa, and I found that it returned seven representatives to the Sardinian Parliament at Turin, seven being its fair share, calculated according to the population of the various cities and districts of the Sardinian kingdom.

In Democracy People Are Supreme

In democracy people are supreme
People elected their representatives
And sent to parliament to make laws
On behalf of them.

To make democracy a success
Endemic protest is necessary
To make the representatives in order
They should cautioned.

People are the soul of parliament
Parliament can change but not people
People are the root parliament is foot.

Come to the people O parliamentarian
O representatives of people
People are your master
You are there in different posts to
Serve the people and to do all welfare works.

Democratic institutions are for the people
Without people the state is a big zero
In democracy people are supreme
Do not handle the people in whim.

Genoa

A long farewell to Genoa
That rises to the skies,
Where the barren coast of Italy
Like our own coastline lies.
A sad farewell to Genoa,
And long my heart shall grieve,
The only city in the world
That I was loath to leave.

No sign of rush or strife is there,
No war of greed they wage.
The deep cool streets of Genoa
Are rock-like in their age.
No garish signs of commerce there
Are flaunting in the sun.
A rag hung from a balcony
Is by an artist done.

And she was fair in Genoa,
And she was very kind,
Those pale blind-seeming eyes that seem
Most beautifully blind.
Oh they are sad in Genoa,
Those poor soiled singing birds.
I had but three Italian words
And she three English words.

But love is cheap in Genoa,
Aye, love and wine are cheap,
And neither leaves an aching head,
Nor cuts the heart too deep;
Save when the knife goes straight, and then
There’s little time to grieve—
The only city in the world
That I was loath to leave.

I’ve said farewell to tinted days
And glorious starry nights,
I’ve said farewell to Naples with
Her long straight lines of lights;
But it is not for Naples but
For Genoa that I grieve,
The only city in the world
That I was loath to leave.

The Polulation Of Our City Is Growing

The population of our city
Is growing every year
That is because all the women in the city is giving
Birth to babies nons stop
Why don't they make it mandatory for the women
To take the birth control pill
In this city
Than the population of the city would not grow every year
And that would make sense
Because we wouldn't have to build new homes

Cities

(Justin Hayward)
Neon the city's sun
Taxis like beetles run, and I see
Pavements with yellow lines
Grey walls and big bold signs with darkness
Up above, all around
In the sky, on the ground
This is what, I have found
Cities, cities
Here the flowers don't grow
Here the river's just a sewer
People who move below
Buildings with smells and noise and darkness
Up above, all around
In the sky, on the ground
This is what, I have found
Cities, cities
Not for me
No, no I don't believe you
It's not the place to be
No, no I won't believe you
Here the flowers don't grow
Here the river's just a sewer
People who move below
Buildings with smells and noise and darkness
Up above, all around
In the sky, on the ground
This is what I have found
Cities, cities, cities

Java's Ghost Nuclear Reactors

live on the island of Java
one of the most densely
populated places on earth
in a suburb on the edge of

Bintaro next to Tangerang
regency over 2.6 million
a few million people in
our suburbs outside Jakarta
a paradox merge mega city

seven districts Ciputat,
Ciputat Timur, Serpong,
Serpong Utara, Pamulang,
Pondok Aren, and Setu

with a total population
of 1.2 million scattered
near my home form part
of Tangerang regency just
a few of many suburbs of

South Tangerang 26 districts
rezoned was 36 districts
3.4 million people in 2009
just one side to a mega city

about 15 k from the nearest
nuclear reactor there are
another two one over an
hour away by car in Bundung
the city my wife's parents

come from here but they
live in a suburb of Jakarta
called Cijantung in East
Jakarta close to city Bogor

on the way to Bundung the
other nuclear reactor is in
Jogakarta big cities suck up
power Jakarta the big durian
never sleeps misses heart beat

but my house is quiet the law
is elastic so like a local here I
usually never wear a motorcycle
helmet within 5 or 10 kilometres

from home unless riding to
nearby Serpong four on the
bike two adults two children
Indonesian style because this
is normal in these our suburbs

but this city in Indonesia kills
over 1500 on the roads yearly
motorbikes hitting potholes in
the road monthly can hit over

30 dead in a single bad pot holed
month but out here we avoid all
smoke-belching three-wheeled
vehicles stinging eyes throats in
hours of snarl traffic or gridlock

a happy man here lives five minutes
from work not two or three hours
of traffic conflict away so worry
over run down reactors does not exit

locals do not even know they are there
immediacy includes no might future fear
Indonesia hugging Pacific ring of fire
volcanoes mud slides kill thousands
Aceh Tsunami 2004 killed 230,000

Indonesians reactors presently score nil

Arrival of Faith

Faith may change and alter if man lets it,
Your religion needs you, where ever you are,
Its range calculated the actions of the heart,
Of the soul there is no equal other than faith.
How do strokes of luck empower us
When the ready faith in god carries enough knowledge
To let us survive in this creation called the kingdom.
Fires will grow, hearts shall be attacked, and love shall fall
Into oblivion from the lover’s quarrel.
I believe in old cities of gold and as if frowning
Was on silver, as if smiling became strong.
The silver of friends is like the gold of strangers,
In this city of old, the ancient town of gold.
This is where you find faith, the rich and bold.

Tale of Three Cities

New York blasted London blasted
Singapore -
Ripped off each other's metaphoric balls,
Crumbling walls.

Priapic city monoliths -
Blue-sky scraping bastards -
Shout about their height (but really length) .

V8 arseholes didn't care -
Pumping shit into the air,
So long as they were always there to
Fart aloud a smoggy cloud,
Laughing at the weak asthmatic,
Humoured that it seems traumatic.

Watch the greedy cities oozing
Chair-bound fat committees, though they
Look a bunch of titties as they
Waffle on about the pound.

Ever thought to look around and see
That they were dead?

Rock n Roll Cities

Rock n roll cities, look out here we come
From buffalo to the gulf of mexico
Rock n roll cities, look out for our bus
Does anybody know the way to idaho?
Well its good to be back
Had some trouble on the way
I never thought wed get here
But we made it just the same
The flight over was real rough
So could you lead me to a beer
I see the pretty girls getting younger
Every year
Rock n roll cities, look out here we come
From new york state to the gulf of mexico
Rock n roll cities, look out for our bus
Does anybody know the way to idaho?
Wcvr konk, wsos, are we still on that playlist?
Well, its anybodys guess
But what does it matter when youre out on the town
Rock n roll cities, with a pizza to go
Rock n roll cities, philadelphia p.a.
I got my radio
Promo for mtv
Whats next on the itinerary? can anybody tell?
Whats the hotel like? is there cable t.v. as well?
Get up with a headache, fall asleep on the plane
And we get there, start all over again
Rock n roll cities, look out were coming through
Kansas city, fresno, san diego
Rock n roll cities, look out here we come
Richmond, cleveland, ohio, nebraska, st. paul
Rock n roll cities, look out here we come
From buffalo to the gulf of mexico
Rock n roll cities, watch out for our bus
Does anybody know the way to idaho?
Flight 62 now leaving for memphis stopping at boston
Washington d.c. with continuing service to los angeles
Seattle, portland... etc...
Rock n roll cities, look out here we come

Los Angeles: The Beautiful Tragedy

The city of angels is where I want to be
Where I don't know them
Where they don't know me
Either with company or alone
The city is my kingdom
And I want to sit on the thrown
Just room for one king
This city, so beautiful yet deadly
This city never sleeps
Filled with angels and creeps
Filled with the rich and with the poor
Filled with the saints and the whores
I wouldn't have it any other way
This is my kingdom you see
Because whether I like or not
I'm both inprisoned and free

Our Reflective Mirror

Our elected representatives are our reflective mirror does that seem fair to say
And what we sow we do receive life's always been this way
Our deceitful and greedy politicians the mirror of our deceit and greed
Of corruption on election day 'tis we who plant the seed
They are our own reflection for want of a better name
And perhaps we should first look at ourselves when them we choose to blame
Of the poverty that surrounds us from where we live not far away
The gap between the haves and the have nots is getting wider by the day
So many do grow poorer for every millionaire
And some will tell you such is life though life on many doesn't seem fair
You hear the Government Ministers talk of the good economy
But that does little for the millions living in poverty
Our elected representatives are our reflective mirror though with that few may agree
And despite what you may think or say that's how it seems to me.

Calculated

We do not learn to be patient.
Or teach ourselves to appreciate,
Each other's gifts.
With a respect or our blessings given.

We wish to use manipulation,
As a source to show our ways.
And we think our children 'cute'
When they begin to place,
Their deceptions on display.

And 'that' behavior is approved...
As being accepted and okay!

And that is calculated!
One that is encouraged,
To be awarded everyday.

We embrace it and become elated.
Calculated.
With anything that is done,
Calculated.
To undermine anyone.
And not having an insight...
To recognize it when it comes.
A calculation to undo,
Those we sought out to dupe...
And conquer,
In a glorious contrived win...
With a calculated ending.

But now finds us the ones,
Who hobble along...
Baffled, broken and stunned!

Calculated in a hidden secret mix.
And preparing to transfix inflated egos.
To experience a flopping...
Shocking to those downtrodden.
Without a clue or a hint of it!

the phantom of Genoa

The Phantom of Genoa
Along the docks of Genoa a man with shoulders bent walks,
he is thin and pale it is as he hides under his winter coat.
It can get very cold in Genoa, but for him winter is everlasting.
Few people recognize him now, those who do look away
from this huddled figure of cowardice. But there are also those
who avoid him because they see in him a mirror of themselves,
humiliations and weaknesses buried deep within their soul.
Once he had been a popular captain on a cruise liner loved and
admired by passengers and crew alike, but tragedy struck and
he failed them, shamed his nation and worst of all himself.
“Vada a bordo Cazzo” shouted at him whenever he appeared
in public. Unforgiven he walks night streets, he is our ghost.

Searching

I don't know where we're going,
but I do know where we've been.
We've also come a long way
on our quest to build a dream.

We've travelled to many cities
in our search for a better life.
When we thought we found it,
we became husband and wife.

Bad times followed the good,
as we fell into a pit of despair.
But then we turned the corner
and we were welcome there.

Our baby came without planning
along with bad times once again.
We lost our jobs unexpectedly
forcing us to catch a run-away train.

We travelled north to the busy cities
where we found work and baby care.
Later that year our baby died,
there was nothing to keep us there.

We decided to finish and separate,
you were sick of travelling around.
The bad times were too much for you,
you needed stability and firmer ground.

I went on alone and found someone new,
who made me forget heartache and tears.
At last I'd found laughter and stability
for the first time in many years.
