A Mother Does Not

A mother does not raise her child for to fight and die in war
Or to kill another Human Being in a Country from home far
That her son or her daughter should at someone else shoot to kill
A person they have never known or who have never bore them ill.

Picasso's 'Screaming Woman' is for all woman kind
The mother weeps for her dead child with grief 'out of her mind'
Mothers do not raise their children for to be remembered on War Memorial Day
For to fight in war for war mongering non combatants and throw their lives away

A mother raises her son or daughter so her seed of life will live on
That her genes will still be around when she herself has gone
From the World of the living to be numbered amongst the dead
I wish for my children to outlive me that's what the mother said.

A mother does not raise her child for to meet with an early death
Not for her War Memorial Day or the words 'Lest we forget'
She wants her son and daughter for to grow old and gray
And she does not wish to hear of War and War Memorial Day.

Hunger in Botany Bay

Hunger lurks down the streets of Botany Bay;
The lonely child famished and peckish cries for food
None notices the child, for they’re preoccupied with the travesty of justice in Botany Bay
An observant vagabond pays heed to the child, and shares the lone piece of bread
The child ecstatic with what’s it got, runs to its hovel
The hovel where it was raised, is full of abjection and misery
The child runs to its mother, gives the lone piece of bread
The mother in tears, tears up the piece of bread
Gives a piece to the child to satiate its hunger
Keeps the other piece for the other slumbering child
For such is the love of the mother, careless about her own hunger
Gets lost in the agony of doubt, of how she will raise her children
In this world full of misery and pain.

Thankful For A Fixed Income I Magically Manage

I did not grow up picking Lillies from the field.
I was a latchkey child with chores and responsibilities.
That's the way my mother raised my sister Mimmie and me.
To be independent and aware at a very early age.

I can sometimes be difficult, direct and demanding.
Traits others discover within minutes in my presence.
However...
When I give of myself and time,
That is done without question.

I am one of those Give-Back-To-The Community kind.
And I've learned after many years of doing it...
Not too many in the community appreciate the sacrifice.
Since I am limited with 'bling' to impress!

I've been told many times,
'Why are you here wasting your life?
You can go somewhere else with the skills you have.
And make lots of money! '

It sickens me to hear this,
From those who assess others...
By what they 'visual' possess.
They same folks that express 'unity'.
Based on conditions met!

But...
My mother didn't raise me like that!
She taught 'me' to make contributions.
Delivering to others my best.
Needless to say we had many arguments about this.
Guess who won?

The only regret I have?
Not too many were present to digest her message.
Although I am grateful and blessed,
To have listened.
And thankful for a fixed income I magically manage.
And a can opener I use without protest.

Yes...
I am skilled.

A Missed Childhood

I missed out on having a childhood
went from a little girl to womanhood.
I think the way my parents raised their children
was only the best of what they're parents could.

I always felt like their Cinderella
always cleaning, ironing and straightening up it seemed.
Taking care of my little sisters and brother
never spending time to be just that child which I need.

I always felt that I had missed out on something
and searched for that missing link throughout my life.
Been married too many times to speak of
been a mother to two sons and a loving wife.

I always promised myself not to repeat
what and how I had been raised.
But to give my sons all of my love
with Respect and Love and Praise.

To allow them to be a child
the best child that they could be.
And always keep myself in check
remembering that missing part of that child in me.

Like Father Like Son

He was raised in the english way
His daddy taught him respect, he taught him how to pray
They sent him off to boarding school
Where he learned how to live by someone elses rule
And he went to confession
He went to confession
Holy father wash my sins away
He went to confession
He went to confession
Mother mary take the pain away
He read letters from home at night in his bed
And got this uneasy feeling when his father said
Fear of God and the feel of the rod
Will raise a good boy
The fear of God and the feel of the rod
Will raise a good boy
He bought his daddys car and he learned to drive
And when he left school he got a nine to five
He met the girl and he got his spouse
And they had the child and they got the house
And he went to confession
He went to confession
Holy father wash my sins away
He went to confession
He went to confession
Mother mary take the pain away
He loved his son and he helped him build walls and fronts
He knew hed heard it before
Someone had said it once
Fear of God and the feel of the rod
Will raise a good boy
The fear of God and the feel of the rod
Will raise a good boy
He raised his son in the english way
And he taught him respect, he taught him how to pray
He sent him off to boarding school
Where he learned how to live by someone elses rules
And he went to confession
He went to confession
Holy father wash my sins away
He went to confession
He went to confession
Mother mary take the pain away
It must be something much deeper than fear or pain
Another child learns a pattern he wont break the chain
Fear of God and the feel of the rod
Will raise a good boy
The fear of God and the feel of the rod
Will raise a good boy
The fear of God and the feel of the rod
Will raise the next boy

Children?

Children are the easily led,
Their learning is profound,
Their lift is happy and proud,
Why do parents forgive them?
We produce the fellow children
To lift and uplift each of us
When there happens a life.
Children need growth to boast,
To live and outlive, to death is their journey
After a life of straightforward happiness and bliss.
Felt good? Why children? Because, say Children,
We live among others who are like the mothers
In the land we call Children.
Child after child shall learn of the existing ones
That need admirals and generals of late.
The defence of a child is the greatest concern,
And I laugh at one who destroys life,
Ever in turmoil is a child because of this act.
Children will be enough to be today.
Children can upset no one who is old and ancient,
Selfless students are children.
However much you push and pull at the threads that children weave
And sort, and spread, and sew,
The adult will sew better and more often than a child.
That is the secret, children.

Children

Has time come? I’m fully ready.
If we’ve sinned – there’s no a chance…
We – to prisons, they – to gladness…
Give to children – sun and grass!

When one’s child – the life’s thread’s thinner,
Days are shorter in that age…
Do not scold a little ‘sinner’,
Pet a child without edge.

You’re a looser if whenever
Cannot understand your child,
Drew child’s whisper – what’s a shame there!
Bigger shame – to raise his fright!

But the sinless children’s tears
Can’t be dried, tho’ you confess,
‘Tis because they always bear
Jesus Christ in holly rays.

But they which live like in prisons,
Whose arms are the thinnest threads…
People! Brothers! Aren’t these reasons
Why our peace is only death?

I grew up in a mixed community outside Pittsburgh. I was not raised with bigotry. I was not raised with racism. I was certainly aware of it because we didn't live in a bubble, but my family embraced anyone I cared about, their attitude was, "if this is a good person and you like him, we like him too."

A Celebration of Family, Community and Culture

When a snowman winks his eyes of coal,
And from their windows children know...
Magic's in the air.
And they wish they are on Santa's list.
As children everywhere wish this.

The Christmas Trees that are trimmed with them,
Excites with the bright lights shining.
Dining festively on treats...
Will be remembered year to year.
This and every Christmas.

Joyous Eid al-Adha (The Festival of Sacrifice)
'A Celebration of Family, Community and Culture'
Merry Christmas...
'A Celebration of Family, Community and Culture'
Happy Chanukah...
'A Celebration of Family, Community and Culture'
Happy Kwanzaa...
'A Celebration of Family, Community and Culture'

And...The Best of New Years to Come,
To ALL in Celebration of United Humanity.

Children Reflect Those Ideals Projected

Children,
Reflect those ideals projected.
With a caring less,
Of how their wants and needs are met.

And a child caring less,
Of how their innocent desires are met...
Will do his or her best,
To express no regret...
In the showing just how much they are upset.
With a display of embarrassing tantrums,
A parent tries hard to minimize and suppress.

A 'child' grows up to expect,
That a loud voice heard in protest...
Will get as demanded,
What is wished with no exception.

A child never forgets,
Who promised what and when...
The day and hour,
That promise was mentioned.
Regardless of the dust that may collect in pockets.
Or the emptiness in each corner of a treasure chest.

A child,
Raised to be a 'child' teased by success...
Will never be satisfied by just a taste of it.
Since to sacrifice is not,
A conditional part of a child's mindset.

A CHILD,
No matter how old that child gets...
Will demand what is wanted,
Caring less who pays for it.

A Prayer On Child Abuse

Dear God Above
Bless the children that need your love
Bless the lives that are about to end
Caused by a stranger, relative, or even a friend
Children sometimes become confused
That's no reason for them to be abused
Children shouldn't be considered a game,
Nor should your child feel shame
To play with their favorite toy
Like any other girl or boy
Child abuse is a serious crime
But it happens all of the time
If the child is too much trouble
Please send help there on the double
Please don't take the child away
Because someone got angry today
But if these precious children should have to die
Please take them to your home in the sky.

Three children

Three little children.
One with a home.
One sitting on a thrown.
The last child only skin and bones.

One child lives happily with his family.
One child sits alone; his family won’t spare the time
The last child watches his mother die.

One child has a few new toys.
One child has the best toys anyone can imagine.
The last child plays with sticks and stones.

One child attends public school.
One child stays home and studies alone.
The last child has to cook and has never opened a book.

The children become men.

One man is off to war.
One man is sitting behind a jail door.
The last man is very far from poor.

Refusing To Instill An Obedience

A belligerent disposition,
Does not overnight occur or begin.
It has been fostered and condoned in doses.
And began as something noticed,
Regarded as cute!
Especially bestowed upon 'precious' and precocious...
Sweet and adorable manipulative children!

'You are too strict on your children.
All children that age display stubborn independence.'

~I don't consider talking back, throwing tantrums...
In a public display to get their way.
I will spoil them to a certain point.
But a listening to me will be done!
And,
They 'will' obey!
How you raise 'your' children...
Is not how mine will be raised.
In other words...
You stay out of this! ~

Refusing to instill an obedience,
That is respectfully applied...
Undenied.
Without a firm authority...
And at times felt on one's backside,
Can lead to an expensive lifelong embarrassment.

And making attempts to calm unruly kids...
Undisciplined by parents who appear in schools,
To defend what they did...
Ultimately finds someone sobbing in tears,
When a sentence to spend time behind bars...
Is given to a 'child' to sit for years in a prison.
For acts of mugging or threatening with weapons to rob!
If in fact,
Not for violent attacks that left behind someone murdered.

From all the Europeans,
From all the Asians,
To all the races located Worldwide,
Thinking that my Attitude was all right,

This Beauty that I see,
The Don must be all smarter,
To raise the children that are so Right,

Imagine this Beauty,
In all that the Father told me,
I can Imagine,
This Beauty that is from the King,
I must come to believe,
This Beauty from my Godfather,
To raise this child and see the sun all Clearly.

Don't Cry, Child

Don't cry, child
For children starving far away
For homeless people on the streets
Begging for change.

Don't cry, child
For those of us who have no dreams
Who live in dark holes
That we dig ourselves, laboriously - why?

Don't cry, child
For forgotten rainbows
Or melancholy rainstorms
For wispy clouds, always drifting away.

Don't cry, child
For who you are not
Or who you have been
For who you are.

Don't cry, child
For the last animal of it's kind
The mother who cannot feed her children
A planet in need.

Don't cry, child
When you stand on the edge of forever
And wish you could fly
And see the world at your fingertips.

Don't cry, child
For long-gone yesterdays
Or yearned-for tomorrows

Don't cry, child
For what you have done today
Forgive
Start a new day
Make it better than the last.

Our Child

this is our child.
not just yours or mine
but everyones, that are born in our time.

a child is born every minute around this world
beautiful boys and girls.
these children are gifts from god.

and he has chosen you to be the one
who will carry the daughter or son

look into any childs face and you will see
that they belong to you and me.

the child has a bit of all humanity
this is the way god meant it to be.

these are the children of peace
the children of love
given to us from god above.
.
i read in the papers of childrens lives taken
because of anger, fear, sickness and hate.
lets stop them before it too late

put them in jail and throw away the key.
just so that children can sleep peacefully.

if as a child you was abused, neglected, and not loved
then it's time for you to change your life around
and not let these children die on the ground.

stand up and fight, and take
pride in what you do.
the child you save, could have been you.

Weep For The Child

Hey you, do you ever cry - for the child?
Falling in love with strangers, feeling incomplete, hey thats me
Some are fly, some are shy, some are acting like they own the street, ooh
One minute were together then the next youre acting really cool, so cool
You can play me any way but dont ever treat me like a fool, no no no
Sometimes so hateful
Sometimes so shy
Dont ask me why
Weep for the child
Better raise your hand
Were twisting the style
Aint no need to understand
Dont leave me alone to make it tonight
No dont go
Wearing your desperation wrapped me on your sleeve, yes you do
Youve got everything you want but you just cant get the things that you need, oh no no no
Sometimes you fake it
Sometimes you lie
Dont ask me why
Weep for the child
Better raise your hand, raise your hand
Were twisting the style
Aint no need to understand
Dont leave me alone to make it tonight, no no no
Sweet baby
You never understood
You never treat me right
Weep for the child
Better raise your hand, raise your hand
Were twisting the style
Aint no need to understand, do you understand?
Dont leave me alone to make it tonight, yeah
Weep for the child
Weep
Weep
Weep
In your heart
Weep for the child
Better raise your hand, raise your hand
Were twisting the style
Aint no need to understand, no need
Dont leave me alone to make it
Alone to make it
Alone to make it tonight
