Cutting It Fine
The door swings open but you wont go it
You hate the movie that you havent seen
You couldnt see what I have in mind
I see you laughing but youre
Cutting it, cutting it fine
You never should have done those things to me
Theres one thread left tween you and history
And while our temperature is rising high
Im warning you that you are
Cutting it, cutting it fine
Cutting it, cutting it fine...
You gambled all on one important game
Now take the debt and dont complain
Your game was up, I saw it all the time
I saw that vice, girl, youre
Cutting it, cutting it fine
Your sole advisor watch out for yourself
You never listen to anyone else
You were the one who ignored the signs
Dancing on a fine line
Cutting it, cutting it fine
Cutting it, cutting it fine...

The impartiality which, in contemplation, is the unalloyed desire for truth, is the very same quality of mind which, in action, is justice, and in emotion is that universal love which can be given to all, and not only to those who are judged useful or admirable. Thus contemplation not only enlarges the objects of our thoughts, but also the objects of our actions and our affections: it makes us citizens of the universe, not only of one walled city at war with the rest. In this citizenship of the universe consists man's true freedom, and his liberation from the thralldom of narrow hopes and fears.

At The Edge Of The Edge Of The Edge
AT THE EDGE OF THE EDGE OF THE EDGE
At the edge of the edge of the edge
There is another invisible edge
And this too has an edge and another edge
Edges unending
Beyond our comprehension
Waiting for us to fall down and down-
On the edge of the edge of the edge
I write on
Has the great descent already begun
And am I in the midst of it
As I pretend to go on?

On The Edge Of The Edge Of The Edge
ON THE EDGE OF THE EDGE OF THE EDGE
On the edge of the edge of the edge
There is nowhere to go-
Home is lost,
And all the distances have broken down-
One cannot move
One can only fear-
On the edge of the edge of the edge
Falling is fear-
And holding one’s ground
One step at a time
Is a small miracle
One is not sure
One can make alone.
On the edge of the edge of the edge-

On The Edge Of My Old Age
ON THE EDGE OF MY OLD AGE
On the edge of my old age
A strange calm comes to me
I have done what I have done
Whatever it be.
On the edge of my old age
Anger is my soul
I have not climbed the mountain
And now I’m far too old.
On the edge of my old age
I still wait to see
What will become
Of all I dreamed.
On the edge of my old age
Joy in my life
I have written for years
And still love to write
On the edge of my old age
Still striving to be
I must strive with more courage
No matter what be
On the edge of my old age
The omnipresent fear
A pained burden forever
A mind unclear.
On the edge of my old age
Enjoying my little life
Praying for grandchildren
For my children and wife.

Falling Off The Edge Of The World
I think about closing the door
And lately I think of it more
Im living well out of my time
I feel like Im losing my mind
I should be at the table round
A servant of the crown
The keeper of the sign
To sparkle and to shine
Never, no never again!
Listen to me and believe what I say if you can
Never, this is the end
You know Ive seen the faces of doom and Im only a man
Help me, tell me Im sane
I feel a change in the earth, in the wind and the rain
Save me, take me away
You know Ive seen some creatures from hell and Ive heard what they say!
Ive got to be strong
Oh, Im falling off the edge of the world
Think youre safe, but youre wrong!
We are falling off the edge of the world!
Look out! theres danger! no where to run!
It seems like desperate measures but sometimes it has to be done
Over, its over at last
Theres a message inside as we build a new life from the past
Were falling off the edge of the world!
Yes, the edge of the world!
Its the end of the world!

Out Of The Cradle
It's not a place
It's a yearning
It's not a race
It's a journey
It's not an act
It's attraction
It's not a style
It's an action
It's a dream for the waking
It's a flower touched by flame
It's a gift for the giving
It's a power with a hundred names
Surge of energy, spark of inspiration
The breath of love is electricity
Maybe time is bird in flight
Endlessly mocking
Here we come out of the cradle
Endlessly rocking
Endlessly rocking
It's a hand
That rocks the cradle
It's a motion
That swings the sky
It's method on the edge of madness
It's a balance on the edge of a knife
It's a smile on the edge of sadness
It's a dance on the edge of life
Endlessly rocking

Makeup Your Mind
Makeup your mind
What to do and when.
It is the action
That reflect your mind.
You can not restrain anybody
And it is fruitless to restrained.
Without action
Speech has no value.
You are yours own enemy
As you are yours own friend.
You are only person who
Alone travelled
All over he world
And when I left the place
Nothing remain extra.

Living On The Edge Of The World
Early north jersey industrial skyline
Im an all-set cobra jet creepin through the night time
Gotta find a gas station, gotta find a pay phone
This turnpike sure is spooky at night when youre all alone
Im living on the edge of the world
Tryin to get my girl on the line
Livin on the edge of the world
But I think its just a waste of my time
Some jerk keeps breaking my connection, girl
cause Im living on the edge of the world
Living on the edge of the world
Radio, radio, hear my tale of heartbreak
New jersey in the morning like a lunar landscape
Got a counter girl at the exit 24 hojo
Down past the refinery towers where the great black river flows
Im living on the edge of the world
Tryin to get back to you, girl
Living on the edge of the world
Tryin to get a message through
I gotta make a connection, girl
Because Im living on the edge of the world
Living on the edge of the world
Radios jammed with gospel stations
Lost souls callin long distance salvation
Hey mister deejay gotta hear my last prayer
Its a hey ho rock and roll, deliver me from nowhere
Im living on the edge of the world
Tryin to get back to you, girl
Living on the edge of the world
Tryin to get a message through
I gotta make some connection, girl
Because Im living on the edge of the world
Living on the edge of the world
Now my boss dont dig me cause he put me on the night shift
It takes me two hours to get back to where my baby lives
In the wee wee hours my mind gets hazy
Relay towers, wont you lead me to my baby
neath the overpass the trooper hits his party lights switch
Good night, good luck, one, two powershift

Response to Merton: Balandi and Alkaocai
To choose the world is to choose to do the work I am capable of doing,
in collaboration with my brother and sister, to make the world better, more free,
more just, more livable, more human. And it has now become transparently
obvious that mere automatic 'rejection of the world' and 'contempt for the world'
is in fact not a choice but an evasion of choice.'
Thomas Merton. Contemplation in A World of Action
Our world is
bleeding out
filling the sea
with stolen
humanity
Why should I not
reject this contemptible
world?
Last night
in Kahdahar's shadow
Fear smashed open
the simple doors
of Balandi and Alkaozai
as an American soldier
defiled
the mothers and children
of two nations,
spread thick their blood
and painted red
this sinful
world.

Senses
The words were broken into sounds
And the time was cracked in seconds.
The seconds were dismantled slowly.
I grasped my love and I laid it in remembrance,
I grasped my remembrance and I laid it in grievance,
I grasped my grievance and I laid it in reason,
I grasped my reason and I laid it in self,
I grasped myself and I stepped into the light,
I grasped the light and I laid it over the candle wax.
The candle dropped the light.
In the light, the sense of life became clear.
I grasped the sense of life and I laid it over the sense of death.
In this sense of life and death you laid
The seconds, which were dismantled.
They melted in pieces of eternity.
I took those pieces and I gave them to The Lord.
I gave love your name.
I grasped my love and I laid it in remembrance
And I heard the empty bell ringing in the sky.
The bell would ring for someone else,
But I remembered you
