Stretching his hand up to reach the stars, too often man forgets the flowers at his feet.

Reach Out And Touch
(nickolas ashford/valerie simpson)
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
(just try)
Take a little time out of your busy day
To give encouragement
To someone who's lost the way
(just try)
Or would i be talking to a stone
If i asked you
To share a problem that's not your own
We can change things if we start giving
Why don't you
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
(just try)
If you see an old friend on the street
And he's down
Remember his shoes could fit your feet
(just try)
Try a little kindness you'll see
It's something that comes very naturally
We can change things if we start giving
Why don't you
Reach out and touch
Why don't you (why don't you)
Reach out and touch somebody's hand
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can

Edenland
YOU remember where in starlight
We two wandered hand in hand,
While the night-flowers poured their perfume,
And night-airs the still earth fanned?--
There I, walking yester even,
Felt like a ghost in Edenland.
I remember all you told me,
Looking up as we did stand,
While my heart poured out its perfume,
Like the night-flowers in your hand;
And the path where we two wandered
Seemed not like earth but Edenland.
Now the stars shine paler, colder
Night-flowers die without your hand;
Yet my spirit walks beside you
Everywhere, unsought, unbanned.
And I wait till we shall wander
Under the stars of Edenland.

That's When You Know
for everyone
the story goes
there's a special someone
to make them whole
someone to give their heart completely
and you may search
high and low
and when you find your angel
and when you know
then you finally get that feeling
it'll be as clear as the air you're breathing
that's when the world feels small beneath your feet
its when the stars above are only just out of reach
when you feel you're alive for the very first time
and there's nothing that you can rise above
that's when you know that you're in love
who can tell the time and place
when you see your soul reflected in their face
it'll be a spell you're under
and it'll hit you just like thunder
that's when the world feels small beneath your feet
it's when the stars above are only just out of reach
when you feel you're alive for the very first time
and when you hold them in your arms and cant let go
that's when you know
for all of my life
I have been searching
for something I couldn't find
but now that I know that you are the one
I understand
I read the signs
cos now the world feels small beneath my feet
and all the stars above are only just out of reach
when you feel you're alive for the very first time
and there's nothing that you can rise above
that's when you know that your in love

I've Got To Do This
I've got to do this...
Until I quit.
I can not resist it.
It would be missed.
Yeah,
I've got to do this...
Until I quit.
I can't resist it,
One bit.
I dream to leap over black holes.
Stretching to reach stars...
In times ahead.
With a speeding through times...
That have from us long gone away,
Not to exist.
I've got to do this!
I've got to do this...
Until I quit.
I can't resist it,
One bit.
People do this,
And...
People do that.
And...
Some people put all their hopes and wishes,
In one hat or basket.
And I've got to do this!
Whatever hat or basket fits.
I've got to do this!
I dream to leap over black holes.
Stretching to reach stars...
In times ahead.
With a speeding through times...
That have from us long gone away,
Not to exist.
I've got to do this!
I've got to do this...
Until I quit.
I can not resist it.
It would be missed.
I've got to do this!
For this I exist.

Desert Ditty
I’m walkin’ through the desert
Sand gets in your toes
Scorpions come bite your feet
And dust gets up your nose
But I’m walkin’ with my baby
We’re travellin’ hand in hand
We’ll make this trip together
And reach the Promised Land
I’m climbin’ up the mountain
Stumblin’ on the rocks,
Little critters bite your flesh
Runnin’ like a fox
But I’m walkin’ with my baby
We’re travellin’ hand in hand
We’ll make this trip together
And reach the Promised Land
I’m walkin’ in the wadi
Dry as prophet bones
Sudden clap of thunder –
Flood sweeps sodden stones
But I’m walkin’ with my baby
We’re travellin’ hand in hand
We’ll make this trip together
And reach the Promised Land
I’m walkin’ through the nighttime
Countin’ on the star
Clouds come coverin’ heaven
Don’t know where we are
But I’m walkin’ with my baby
We’re travellin’ hand in hand
We’ll make this trip together
And reach the Promised Land
We’ll reach the land together
Oh baby you an’ me
We’ll see it from the Golden Heights
From desert to the sea
I’m walkin’ with my baby
We’re travellin’ hand in hand
We’ll make this trip together
And reach the Promised Land!

Tired Walk
in fact this feet
have tired walk
fringing life
but children
still await my hand
they there adult
but under done
the rest still little by little
their arms still not yet can
its reach their goals
what draped
above
at the stars
what spangled with
in the sky night
dark.

Dream With You
(doug hopkins? )
? lays in the dark all day
She waits for the sun to go down
And in her novel we appear
To change her moods around
Well she forgets you now
Well she forgets you now
And girls like that they own the world
Theyll sell you what you need
On languid streets you search for her so ? in her sleep
Well she leads you on
Well she leads you on
Dream with you
Well she could only dream with you
And the distance keeps her warm
Her letters talk of things shes seen
Her silence what shes learned
Reminsce and drink with them
To hasten her return
Well she forgets you now
Well she forgets you now
Well she forgets you now
Well she forgets you now
Dream with you
Well she could only
And the distance keeps her warm
Dream with you
Well she could only
And the distance keeps her warm
Dream with you...

An Imagination
intentionally i let my right hand hold my left hand
my left hand holds the branch of a tree that
holds some leaves,
my feet are on the trunk of a tree
beforehand i mentioned
there are clouds getting near us
fog that promise a cover
out there oceans sing
stars hang themselves upon a path of the horizon
all imaginary ceilings
where the moon behaves like one big chandelier
there are moment when stars and moon are simply themselves
as moon and stars without
self-imposed meanings and then all that we describe
is that it is the moon and they are the stars
no sauce for more words
nothing added nothing subtracted
faithful to the phenomenon of the stillness of what we see
to still this restlessness
we focus on what we have
a hand holding another hand
a head that looks upward to the heavens
a foot rooted like the roots of a tree
leaves falling like the wind

I do not live in a world of flowers & clouds and mountains & rivers & brooks
I do not live in a world of flowers
I do not live in the world of blue clouds and green mountains and ricefields
I do not live in running rivers and stretching seas and clear brooks
Though I write about them
Though I miss the scent exuded by them in their kindness
Though I like the bees and butterflies that busy in their
Multicolored world with some rainbows and coolness
Of rain showers and warmth of sunshine so like
Paradise, so like the Eden of our ancient dreams,
But I do not live in the world of flowers
I cannot leave in the world of flowers
My land is this desert scorched by the noonday sun
My sea is this sand stretching from shore to shore
My outlook, my view is this misleading mirage
My clouds are these unresolved doubts and fears
And my air is this silence that only the dead can surmise.

Sometimes She Forgets
If you see her out tonight
And she tells you that it's just the lights
That bring her here and not her loneliness
That's what she says but sometimes she forgets
If she tells you she don't need a man
She's had all the comfort she can stand
You best believe every word she says
But don't give up 'cause sometimes she forgets
And sometimes she forgets that not too long ago she swore
She wasn't gonna let her heart be broken anymore
So now she keeps it locked away
And it grows colder everyday
And it won't warm to any man's caress
That's what she says but sometimes she forgets
And sometimes she forgets that not too long ago she swore
She wasn't gonna let her heart be broken anymore
If you see her out tonight
And she tells you that it's just the lights
That bring her here and not her loneliness
That's what she says but sometimes she forgets
Yeah, that's what she says, but sometimes she forgets
So don't you dare give up 'cause sometimes she forgets

Earthshine
On certain nights
When the angles are right
And the moon is a slender crescent
It's circle shows
In a ghostly glow
Of earthly luminescence
Earthshine
A beacon in the night
I can raise my eyes to
Earthshine
Earthshine
A jewel out of reach
Form a dream to rise to
Earthshine
Floating high
In the evening sky
I see my faint reflection
Pale facsimile
Like what others see
When they look in my direction
Earthshine
Stretching out your hand
Full of starlit diamonds
Earthshine
Reflected light
To another's sight
And the moon tells a lover's story
My borrowed face
And my third-hand grace
Only reflect your glory
You're still out of reach
Form a dream to rise to
Earthshine

Love at Sea
WE ARE in love’s land to-day;
Where shall we go?
Love, shall we start or stay,
Or sail or row?
There’s many a wind and way,
And never a May but May;
We are in love’s hand to-day;
Where shall we go?
Our landwind is the breath
Of sorrows kissed to death
And joys that were;
Our ballast is a rose;
Our way lies where God knows
And love knows where.
We are in love’s hand to-day—
Our seamen are fledged Loves,
Our masts are bills of doves,
Our decks fine gold;
Our ropes are dead maids’ hair,
Our stores are love-shafts fair
And manifold.
We are in love’s land to-day—
Where shall we land you, sweet?
On fields of strange men’s feet,
Or fields near home?
Or where the fire-flowers blow,
Or where the flowers of snow
Or flowers of foam?
We are in love’s hand to-day—
Land me, she says, where love
Shows but one shaft, one dove,
One heart, one hand.
—A shore like that, my dear,
Lies where no man will steer,
No maiden land.

Dream Of Olwen
we like to be in their gossamer world
leaves falling like the notes of this classical music
riding with the wind and making this world so light and
pleasing to the senses
the ears that hear the dance of the flowers
the eyes that see the breaths of the buds
i have new feet i have new dreams now
the dream of Olwen
i am dancing i am stretching my hands in praise
to life! to eternity! to sweet memories!

Tomorrow Shine
Wishing for a summer without rain
Seeing is believing for ourselves
Breathing as we're sinking to the sand
But I will wait for her arms
Then I can reach for the stars
I will wait for her love
Tomorrow shine
Wishing for a lover, not just a friend
Reaching for a hand to pull me in
But I will wait for her arms
Then I can reach for the stars
I will wait for her love
Tomorrow shine
Shine on, shine on
Waiting for a summer without rain
Reaching for the starlet in the sky, again
But I will wait for her arms
Then I can reach for the stars
I will wait for her love
Tomorrow shine
But I will wait for her arms
Then I can reach for the stars
I will wait for her love
Tomorrow shine, tomorrow shine
Tomorrow shine, tomorrow shine
Tomorrow shine, tomorrow shine

Just to see your smile
Just to see your smile
Just to see your smile
The stars gather in the sky
And to feel your touch
The wind passes by
Just to see your smile
The waves hit the shores
And the sun wakes up so early
To see you offcourse
Just to see your smile
Fragrance comes into flowers
And to touch your hair
Water pours down in showers
Just to see your smile
The moon follows you everywhere
There’s someone else too who
Often follows you, if you care
Just to see your smile
I can bring down the stars
And decorate your way
With beautiful flowers
Just to see your smile
I have waited for years
Leading a life that was
Sunken deep in tears
Just to see your smile
I can give away
Everything I have
Without any dismay
Just to see your smile
Gives me happiness without measure
I wish I could see it
On your face forever
Just to see your smile
I thank God for these eyes
In five feet four inches
My whole world lies

The best things in life are nearest Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.
