May be I was just eight or nine
Since that time I never felt fine.
Busy with their work my mum and dad.
Grandma, and grandpa they were bad
Every morning mum used to go office
Once in month, dad used to come home
They never loved and cared about me.
Even if I was bleeding they would not see

The Most High sees a fault and conceals it, and a neighbour sees it not, but shouts.
Let us take refuge with Allah.
If people knew our faults
No one could have rest from interference by others.
We Knew But Didn’t Know
Occasionally people come into our lives,
people we knew but didn’t know.
We knew them from our early years
before life sent us in different directions.
Years would pass before we met again
with this person we knew but didn’t know.
The passing years had changed us both,
wiser but strangers no less.
In the exchanges that follows a friendship grows.

I remember sitting in the corners of shadows.
Wishing to be invisible,
After making attempts to disappear.

And my knees knocked.

When The Running Stops
When the Running Stops
In the enclose, outside the slaughterhouse, sheep were running in rings,
first to the left, and then to the right; in the end there was only one left
and it was too tired to run. I have lost two more friends, feel as I’m
the only sheep left in the enclosure and too tired to run. Heartache and
fun, we had it all in our adolescence. Then our way parted, but you never
forget a childhood friend.
Two years ago I was going to see them, a reunion of school friends going
back fifty years. In the end I didn’t go, knew we would talk a lot first then
fall silent. What we remembered was our friendship then and the past is
another country, as the poet says.
I knew the chasm of years could not be bridged, over meal and too much
wine. One of my friends sent me a photo of the party, a group of old men
I would have walked past in the street and not recognized any of them.
I put the photo up on the wall in my office, but soon took it down again.
Time is a cruel enemy I cry for them and me.

What Makes Bri Feel Bad....[Personal]
I don't mean (by 'feel bad') unruly, criminal, or mean. I mean disgusted or disappointed, or somewhere in between.
It bothers me to see a person littering, but I still get through the day. If I think someone is wheeling a store's cart home, I really want to say:
'Did the manager give you permission? '.... It seems like stealing in a way.
I feel a little disappointed when the ice cream in carton is finished, and when old age causes a person's quality of life to be diminished. Of course I can buy more ice cream, though Aki may say 'no', and people really can limit how many years...they have left 'to go'.
I feel bad when I'm misquoted, when people try to 'put words in my mouth.' I actually manage to say enough 'bad things'...all by myself. I feel a little 'bad' if an [unnamed] woman complains.... when I raise my voice. I think it's a common trait of many men (Evolution?) : ...do we really have a choice? ?
So now I've told you some of the things that....can make me feel 'bad'. I tried to think of more things but couldn't, and that makes me feel very glad.
{Well, sure there are more things, ……but why dwell on what upsets?
Perhaps the more one dwells on positive things, ...the better one's life gets.}

Gods Favoured Me
Heat – no air-con today – realising France’s dream of
saving their coastline due to the Greenhouse effect,
went for a lunch-break stroll singing all the way,
refusing to contemplate office problems
The gods favoured me on my first day, email connection
restored, now I am so privileged to read criticism of the
work I did before leaving on holiday, I am still girdling
my loins with positive thoughts
Before tackling heartbreaking rejection of words I wrote,
New Year’s Resolution: never face today what can be
deferred to tomorrow, stop and smell the roses, I can
read nasty remarks any time
The mere fact of having an office in which to be miserable
is such a source of joy and delight, not to be spoilt with
feelings of inadequacy; why cry about the humours of
those in charge trying to convince me I am
A disaster because I cannot write the words they dictate,
cannot march to the tune they prescribe, kept in my place
by them changing their translation rules every day - I am
thankful that I can still think and feel after years
As a civil servant, I should have turned into a cyborg ages
ago, yet the incessant stream of criticism proves I am still
the same human I was at the beginning – people like me
cannot be changed into robots
No matter how much criticism is directed our way, olé!
