Eventually I found it had been working all along-but didn't show anything on screen until it had the first full page of text. I inserted 30 new lines, and suddenly my toy said 'hEllO woRlD'. An hour later I understood alphabet shifting rather better!

Alphabet Lost And Found
On this fateful day, in the history of whenever,
An epidemic of missing letters has swept the land.
Whatever the cause, for the sake of future generations,
In the limited time we have been permitted, these stories must be told.
There was an apple that lost his 'a'
There was a zebra that lost his 'z'
There was a chauffeur that left his 'auffer' on the dashboard
Of the car that lost its 'r'
Well, the car had lost its 'r' in a pothole
On a street that lost its 'e'
When the garbage collector with a missing 'ector' swept it up
With a broom that lost its 'oom'
Where they gonna go without their letters?
How could they survive without their letters?
Where they gonna go to find their letters?
They gonna have to get together-
At the alphabet lost and found (alphabet lost and found)
At the alphabet lost and found (alphabet lost and found)
There was a school that lost its 'cool'
when they tired to ring the bell that had no 'l'
With all the letters gone, the spelling bee was canceled
Science teachers had their hands full
English classes could not be complete
Where they gonna go without their letters?
How could they survive without their letters?
Where they gonna go to find their letters?
They gonna have to get together
Where they gonna go without their letters?
How could they survive without their letters?
Where they gonna go to find their letters?
They gonna have to get together
Crowds of people, animals, and incomplete words have been seen at a previously unknown place to be referred to as-
The alphabet lost and found (alphabet lost and found)
At the alphabet lost and found (alphabet lost and found)
At the alphabet lost and found (alphabet lost and found) (how could they survive without their letters)
At the alphabet lost and found (alphabet and lost found) (they gonna have to get together)
At the alphabet lost and found (alphabet and lost found) (they gonna have to get together)
At the alphabet lost and found (alphabet and lost found) (they gonna have to get together)

Alphabet Town
Alphabet city is haunted
Constantina feels right at home
She probably wont say youre wrong
But youre already wrong
Youre already wrong
And you threw up whatever she shot down
Said show me around this alphabet town
Said show me around
Theres a name you keep repeating
You got nothing better to do
And youre with someone wholl hear you say it and just nod
Her hand on your arm
Her hand on your arm
She put her hand on your arm
And told you her name you cant pronounce it
Ill show you around this alphabet town
Ill show you around this alphabet town
I know what you are
I just dont mind
I wont say youre wrong
I know what you want
And its what I want
So lets go out
Im ready to go out
Ill show you around this alphabet town
Ill show you around this alphabet town

The Shorter Week
I worked for fifty hours a week,
And someone said to me,
'Don't be a serf! Throw off your chains,
And show the world you're free!'
So I cut down my working hours
And found, upon the whole,
The leisure time I had to spare
Good for my body's carking care,
And better for my soul.
I worked for forty hours a week,
And someone said to me,
'Release your bonds, you shackled slave!
Show all the world you're free!'
So I reduced my working hours
And found in leisured lull,
The more I sought to play, the more
Amusement had become a bore,
And life was rather dull.
I worked for twenty hours a week,
And someone said to me
'Awake, you mutt! Snap out of it,
And show the world you're free!'
So I cut out my working hours
And found that joy had flit.
Upon black melancholia's brink,
I sometimes used to sit and think
And sometimes merely sit.
I worked for not one hour a week,
And someone said to me,
'You lazy coot! Arise and shine!
You call this being free?'
So I resolved I'd better far
Rejoin the toiling mob.
But when I rose and looked around,
To my intense digust I found
Someone had pinched my job.

Suddenly
Orbison/melson
Suddenly, my heart stood still
Suddenly, the sight of you gave me a thrill
Suddenly
Suddenly, i see you everywhere
Suddenly, all at once i seem to care for you
Suddenly
So suddenly i found you
To think you were near all the time
I've often been around you
I don't know how i could have been so blind
Suddenly, my world is new
Suddenly, suddenly there's only you
Suddenly
So suddenly i found you
To think you were near all the time
I've often been around you
I don't know how i could have been so blind
Suddenly, suddenly you're my dream come true
Suddenly, suddenly there's only you
So suddenly

The whole problem with news on television comes down to this: all the words uttered in an hour of news coverage could be printed on page of a newspaper. And the world cannot be understood in one page.

Thought-Provoking Questions
Across the TV screen they scrolled,
The questions to the show...
While just one answer could be told,
Still questions were in flow...
The compere and the guest still spoke,
With comments to explain...
Yet were the questions there a joke,
Eye-candy or eye-strain?
I tuned out what was being said,
To view the scrolling text...
Because I chose to read instead,
So not to be perplexed...
Those questions were both great and small,
Yet by them I felt blessed,
Then suddenly there was a call
To compere and to guest...
I thus ignored the text below
And listened once again...
Perhaps for something new to know,
Perhaps beyond my ken...
But, oh, what wisdom saints would share,
Life stories so profound...
And oh, such tender-hearted prayer,
To turn our lives around...
What was Good Friday all about?
And so the guest replied...
It was because God's Laws we flout
That Christ was crucified...
The guest was almost near to tears,
As he explained the cost...
To think, Christ overcame His fears
And died to save the lost...
Another caller praised the Lord,
She spoke of many things...
Then told us straight to rest assured,
Trust Christ, the King of Kings!
Forgiveness is the Father's Plan,
The Bible is the key...
And suddenly, my tears began...
I knew Christ died for me...

Howard Conder's Question And Answer show is
on Revelation TV. He said he would like to
see viewers' email questions scrolling across
the TV screen while the guest and he were
discussing one question at a time.
He wondered if viewers would still find some
extra blessing if thought-provoking questions
were seen on screen.

I Wrote A Poem Across The Universe
I wrote a poem across the Universe
It was read among the stars-
Cosmic messages were sent endlessly reinterpreting it-
It appeared in Galactic anthologies
And whole Civilizations taught it in their schools-
Worlds were born with it and worlds lamented their dying with it-
It became the Text of the Text of the Text of the Text of the Text
Of cosmic intergalactic meaningfulness-
I wrote a poem across the Universe-
It was read for billions of years
And then somehow
No attention was paid to it anymore-
And it vanished for as long as forever can be understood to be.

By passing me you pass yourself
I seek you; you skip me.
I pursue; you elude.
I am page one and you page two,
Our eyes not meeting each other.
Pride in your lips; wet are my eyes.
Having understood of you,
I have understood that
You aren’t yet understood.
Having gone past me,
You have gone past yourself.

Love Working On You
(jim collins/craig wiseman)
You woke up this morning
Changes were taking place
You looked in the mirror
A smile was all over your face
cause out of nowhere
Someone was there
Who dared to climb
Those walls you made
Its exciting, a little frightening
But girl dont you be afraid
Thats just the love working
Love working on you
Thats just the love working
Working on pulling you through
Cant even remember
All the sorrow that you left behind
Its a brand new day
Theres a bright new way
And your tears have turned into wine
You never forget
When your eyes met
Or just how clearly you could see
Where the turns are deep in your heart
That lead you to believe
Thats just the love working
Love working on you
Thats just the love working
Working on pulling you through
All of the while you felt forsaken
And all of the while
Loves been waiting, waiting
Suddenly you see how it could be
If we all only felt this way
And for a while girl you can see this world
Looking through the eyes of fate
Thats just the love working
Love working on you
Thats just the love working
Working on pulling you through
Thats just the love working
Love working on you
Thats just the love working
Working on pulling you through
Thats just the love working on you
Thats just the love working
Working on pulling you through

World Was In The Face Of The Beloved
World was in the face of the beloved--,
but suddenly it poured out and was gone:
world is outside, world can not be grasped.
Why didn't I, from the full, beloved face
as I raised it to my lips, why didn't I drink
world, so near that I couldn't almost taste it?
Ah, I drank. Insatiably I drank.
But I was filled up also, with too much
world, and, drinking, I myself ran over.

Surfs You Right!
When Colin bought a computer, he didn't know a thing!
So in fact, without a tutor, he spent a lot, ker-ching!
So he plugged it in and waited... The PC screen stayed black!
For a while he hesitated and thought he'd take it back!
What's that? The on switch! There it was! The little so-and-so!
How foolish that he'd been so cross, yet now, all systems go!
An hour later, it calmed down! The Internet could start...
So Colin's forehead lost its frown, now he would soon take part.
The home page loaded, so he stared at small text on the screen,
The poor chap squinting unprepared, no longer quite as keen...
He clicked a link, saw colours change and near collapsed in shock!
'Good God! That site was really strange! ' That's one he had to block!
Another link he chose to try... This time some music played!
The volume had been set too high! He set it down to fade...
'Thank God for that! ' poor Colin said, 'At least I'm on my own! '
His cheeks by now were blushing red, as he let out a groan...
'OK! That's it! I'll beat this thing! ' He vowed with all his might!
Then he checked Google, Yahoo, Bing, still surfing through the night!
He fell asleep at half-past-five... He slept there like a slob!
Woke up, then off to work to drive, before he lost his job!
'That PC's going back next week! ' He told himself that day!
Alas, the poor guy's now a geek... His PC's here to stay!

A Black Screen
he hung a screen at
the back of his mind
and prayed to the Divinity
to give him a show
of His world
there was no image,
no sign, nothing, total
silence, just one whte screen
which he could not even
hold up for too long
he prayed again and
asked Divinity again to
show him at least a little
part of his world
no answer, total whiteness
an angel took pity and told him
'well if you want to see something
use a black screen not white'
and he visualised a blackscreen
in the light of his mind
it soon came to life with
a three dimensional darkness
that seemed to breathe with a
consciousness that bewildered him
the darkness grew and grew
with an earnestness so that it
took over the space of his own mind
he found himself submerged
in a boundless consciusness; a
darkness that breathes sacredness,
holiness, boundless knowledge,
and the question: 'why would
you want to know? '

What.?
Made a normal call,
To the hole in the wall.
Card was inserted,
Pin punched and waited.
‘Card held', screen stated,
Withdrawal was belated!
On the screen line,
‘Card not withdrawn in required time'!
"Bloody What"!
Was ‘BEADLE' about.?

Got Your Digits
You have my digits right?
(Your number oh yeah I do)
You know my email addy also?
(Yup Ditto Messenger, Yahoo and ICQ)
You can text me, call me, or buzz me.
(I can beep you I betcha too)
You can catch me any time.
(Oh Lord I know that’s true)
I am always within reach never out of touch
(Or so you like to think but really not so much)
For you I’m always in I can always make the time.
(That’s your latest spin so my hopes might climb)
Catch you later babe now I really have to fly.
(Uh huh I’m sure that’s true you’re a very busy guy)
Me?
I’m in the book
Still on the same old page
Don’t read too much between the lines
My address hasn’t changed
My calendar is usually open
Just as my door is too
Nothing has been rearranged
(But you knew that didn’t you?)

Spin
friday night, i jumped the line
clubbing with my girlfriends
it's our time to shine
throw a few bones, wlk a few dogs
hanging in the corner, drink and laugh a lot
suddenly there's you
and my heart starts beating
chorus:
spin - everybody's doin'it
spin - everybody's full of it
spin - working their show time,
cheap line, all i really want is a good time
working their....
spin - everybody's faking it
spin - everybody's diggin'it
don't give me that shop talk,
just stop and show me what you really got
verse 2:
so you got a cool ride,
you got your own crib
you work real hard,
put your money in the jar
and you're proud of it
you better not lie, cause i ain't no fool
spinning lies to hypnotize ain't what i do and
suddenly there's you
and my heart's still beating
repeat chorus
bridge:
(i'm real) - all i want is honesty,
(i feel) when someone good is close to me
(let me know) did this moment feel like destiny?
or just a freeze frame, mind game,
playing with my heart
(ad libs)
everybody's doin'it
everybody's full of it - spin
everybody's faking it
everybody's diggin'it - spin
repeat chorus (x2)

The White Piano
A white piano was your mother's gift to you,
Shining, glistening, a symbol of hope and joy, you never knew,
Your life without your source and your father who didn't want to know, of course,
Your mother so delicate and fragile, couldn't last the extra mile,
Norma Jeane shy and alone, without a home,
You lived in the shadows as you chased the sun,
A photographer captured, a butterfly spirit full of fun and so rare,
Encouraging words, gave you the heart to dare.
Instead of looking at the world from the outside,
Suddenly you fitted into the cosmos,
You soared as the camera, embraced your soul, overcome with loss,
Tough times struggling to become a screen goddess,
Lovers helped you along the way with zest,
Smitten by your childlike charm,
So insecure because you were so pure.
Blossoming into a curvy blonde vision,
You set the screen alight, that was your mission
You now were not alone, but fear tripped you up,
No half measures, pills at your leisure,
No sleep, only dreams of days full of pleasure,
Your quest ended far to soon,
In a lonely, lonely room.
The world was full of gloom, for the tragic loss of Marilyn,
The white piano is stored away, it still plays a heavenly tune eternally,
Your image is everywhere, your song goes on with such iconic steps,
Immortality is yours,
Norma Jeane lives today, in her own unique way.

Game Show
Cuttin pictures from a magazine
... paper smile but not from you to me
Another statue in a ?
A breakfast alone
Another compromising ?
Another game show
The game show
The game show
I pass the time away before I sleep
I have your picture sitting next to me
I taped your picture in a book
Dont bother reading I just take a look
Dont have to turn the page before I know
So full of answers I dont need to know
I like to take control
I like the game show
The game show
The game show
Dont have to turn the page before I know
You ask me questions I already know
The time has finally come to let it go
I like to take control
I like the game show
The game show
The game show

Not Just You
i, too, had it, not just once,
but many times, when i
wake up at the wrong hour
and think of you
and then i take my old
favorite pen and
yellow pad paper
and begin to write
a letter for you
you are a ghost now
far away
and i expect you
not to read this
letter that i am
not sending anyway
i will not even
read it
i will just keep it
so when another being
comes whose interest
is poetry and by chance
he digs upon my
poetry books that no one
bothers to read
anymore
at anytime
he may find it there
inserted in one of the
pages between
two chapters
concerning the themes
of love and
death
and perhaps he too
will understand how is to
truly love and be
so unloved because
death has come
to early because
the timing was wrong
because the world
has not understood
because one
sometimes in pain
has no cure
but just the silence

Niggers
You look at me and ask yourself
Who am I?
What am I?
What have I to do?
I`m an African American, Black, nothing more
Why do I have to pay for my ancestors breaking that barrier,
For them proving your race,
That they didn't need your 'expertise',
they didn't need your education
Nor did they need your approval
To be what we all are today.
You look at me
You think,
My America is full of these 'niggers'
Who made your America
Full of trash
Full of ignorance
Full of cirme
We will never be white
Yet you forget that once America put up such a fight
With these non-whites,
Theses 'niggers'
These folks full of color,
And who do you think won?
Look around you.
What do you see,
Nothing but minorities all around
All about
Be careful for soon you will be slapped in the face when you see that you are now working for these'niggers'....

Tear Tram Lines
This town has lost its sparkle,
The stars have lost their shine,
This town’s too full of echoes,
And my face too full of lines.
The shore has lost its tide,
The waves have lost their rhyme,
This town’s too full of tears,
And my smile too full of lines.
The clock has stopped it’s ticking
My feet dance out of time,
This town’s too full of yesterdays,
And my frown too full of lines
The cinema’s showing it’s last reel,
The pubs have all called time,
This towns too full of actors
And my script too full of unread lines….
