Northern Wind
There is a wind, my billy, and its awful strong
Come for you, and anyone whos helped you along.
But I want to live, live, live and let the stars shine bright
Yes, I want to live, live, live and let it on alright
And when that bird sings from over that silver wall
I dont want to fight it, billy, cause I want to go
Theres a northern wind, billy, blowin up a southern change
And a northern wind really makin me feel kinda strange
Theres a northern wind, billy, blowin up a southern change
And a northern wind really makin me feel kinda strange
And with this gun goes everything I want to say
Not for you, but for anyone who takes it away
Let it fill his life, life, life until theres nothing left
Let it kill his wife, wife, wife until he goes to bed
And when that bird sings from over that silver wall
I dont want to fight it, billy, cause I want to go
Theres a northern wind, billy, blowin up a southern change
And a northern wind really makin me feel kinda strange
Theres a northern wind, billy, blowin up a southern change
And a northern wind really makin me feel kinda strange

Southern Comfort
(eric carmen)
Recorded by the quick
Epic 10516 / 1969
Northern lovins mean, so cold and weary
You know, I got to go down south to get love right
And the way they love down south
You know it makes my blood run hot
I need some southern comfort, hey, hey, hey
Gimme some of your southern comfort, hey, hey, hey
Well Ive had my fill of gold I trade for women
Now I need some southern hospitality
And the way they love down south,
You know it makes my blood run hot
I need some southern comfort, hey, hey, hey
Gimme some of your southern comfort, hey, hey, hey
So if you wanna keep me satisfied
You gotta give me some southern comfort tonight
Well Ive had my fill of gold I trade for women
No, I need some southern hospitality
And the way they love down south,
You know it makes my blood run hot
I need some southern comfort, hey, hey, hey
Gimme some of your southern comfort, hey, hey, hey
And the way they love down south,
You know it makes my blood run hot
Gimme some of your southern comfort, hey, hey, hey
Gimme some of your southern comfort, hey, hey, hey
Some southern comfort, hey, hey, hey
(oh, you know I want it baby)
Gimme some of your southern comfort, hey, hey, hey

I Am
Well fire it up
Chop one out
Somebody's got to know
That I'm two days in
I got two days left to go
Cause I am Georgia
I am Memphis Tennesee
I am everything
Hollywood wants to be
I am love and I am hate
I'm your late night drunk debate
But you'll never put
Your finger on me
Have you ever seen the sun
Over the rocky mountains shinin
Or touched the sands
Of a southern Florida beach
Have you seen a grown man cry
Or a child that's slowly dying
Have you looked inside
To see al that you can see
And I am North and South Dakota
And New York City
I am everything Hollywood wants
To be
I am love an I am hate
And all the critics can debate
But they will never put a finger
On me
No you'll never put a finger on
Have you seen the northern falls
Or the midwest seasons changing
A Montana storm
Or a warm Kentucky rain
Have you heard the love that sings
Over the inner city sidewalks
Have you risen above
All that leads to hate
And I am Boston and D.C.
And all of Detroit city
I am everything
That Hollywood wants to be
I am southern rock-n-roll
Country and hip hop soul
And you'll never put a finger on me
I'm a father and and I'm a friend
I'm your brother till the end
But you'll never put your finger on me
I am only God knows why
Ill be a cowboy till I die
But you'll never put you
Finger on me
You'll never put your finger on me
You'll never put
You'll never put
Put your finger on me

the Golden Horn Of Istanbul
THE ‘GOLDEN HORN’ OF
ISTANBUL
It is an inlet arm from the Bosphoros Strait,
Which stretches inwards towards the west;
And curves up like a deer’s horn, -
Known to the world as the ‘Golden Horn’!
It separates the old Istanbul’s historic city,
From its modern counterpart in the north;
Forming the world’s longest natural harbor,
A waterway almost 7.5 km long!
The harbor was once the Naval Headquarters
of the Byzantine Empire!
When a heavy chain guarded the inlet’s
entrance;
Stretching across the mouth of the ‘Horn’ entire;
From the Old City to the Galata Tower! *
The old city stands on seven hillocks, once
known as the ‘City of Seven Hills’;
And top of every rise, a temple, or a mosque
or a monument is seen, -
With its steeples, towers and minarets, the city
stands solemnly still!
Each building here has a story to tell;
In 1453 to the Ottoman Turks the city fell!
As I stood ruminating on one such high rise,
And saw the sun going down in the west;
The inlet waters appeared bathed in gold,
Glittering in the sun’s setting rays!
And at that moment I realized, as I looked at
the inlet nice and long,
How aptly it has been named, as the inlet of
‘The Golden Horn’!

(*Galata Tower is located at the entrance of
the inlet- in the northern half of the city.
‘The Golden Horn’ waterway divides the
city of Istanbul into northern & southern
halves!)
When on the squares and in solitary silence
When on the squares and in solitary silence
We slowly go out of our minds,
Brutal winter will offer us
Cold and clear Rhine wine.
The frost offers us in a silver pail
The white wine of Valhalla,
And for us it recalls
A clear image of a northern man.
But northern skalds are rude,
Don't know the joy of the game,
And to northern troops are dear
Amber, feasts and flames.
They only dream of the southern air,
The magic of a foreign sky.
-- Nevertheless the stubborn friend
Still refuses to try.

Soil, Oil!
In your own eyes;
Write, rite, right, Wright!
But, take heed and be very careful with your steps in life.
Ours, yours!
The Western Sea;
Act, acts!
The Eastern Sea;
Rose, arose!
The Southern Sea;
City, felicity!
The Northern Sea;
Burt, take heed and be very careful with your steps in this life.

We need a number of solutions - we need more efficiency and conservation. Efficiency is a big one. I think car companies need to do a lot better in producing more efficient cars. They have the technology, we just need to demand them as consumers.

Southern Son
Born on the hudson, twenty-two years gone
Bred and raised in the city
From my daddys knee I learned the union songs
But grandma sang lullabies of dixie
And though the northern winter fills my heart with joy
Oh its a southern sun that shines down
On this yankee boy
Mama dreamed of paris nights
And boatin on the seine
She said, were gonna make it there too
Soon as papa comes home again
And shed speak to me in broken french
Dressed like a painting of lautrecs
In the night shed clutch me to her breast
And say, well make it outta here yet
And though parisian women
Strut so fine down the eiffel mall
Its a southern one I sing my songs for
Well with the local bunch of do-good boys
And an old man from the west
We crossed the land in the caravan
Yes we traveled with the best
With circus acts and vaudeville hacks
And the mississippi delta queen
She told me the news and sold me her blues
In an alley in new orleans
And though the western plains are still stained
With the blood of great cowboys
Its a southern sun
That shine down on this yankee boy

Im A Southern Man
Tony joe white
Send me a pan of corn bread with some turnip greens on the side
And if you really want to mess with my head give me anything southern fried
Give me some faded blue jeans and a pair of old cowboy boots
And Im gonna tell you where I come from tell you somethin about my roots
Im a southern man, Im a southern man,
Im a southern man, (spoken) Im a southern man
Send me a woman to love me with a lot of meat on her bones
Theres something about a big lady I just cant leave em alone
Id like to take her down to the river go skinny dippin in the night
Aint nothin like being with my lady and makin love in the pale moon light
Cause Im a southern man, a hah ah Im a southern man, Im a southern
Man, southern man, Im a southern man
Give me that soulful music it sure makes me feel so nice
So I can do the alligator and get it on every saturday night
Give me that southern comfort, give me annie greensprings wine
Take me on down to the bayou and Ill sure have a real good time

Mental birth
Thought is broken into many levels and grades.
All men begin on, or near, the same point.
The only difference is the efficiency and where it stems from.
The 'smart, ' are efficient in multiple worldly ways.
The 'dumb' are efficient in ways the 'smart' cannot fathom.
'Average' is the point where efficiency is dependent upon immediate worldly needs.
'Retarded' people are those that grasp and maintain an efficiency held within,
One that man cannot explain because man is on a different, rudimentary plain.

New York Poems: Reaction
There’s so much movement,
but its all confusion I say
There’s height but where's the depth,
Is it wearing a mask?
It seems as if I’m here to find it,
I walked onto the street and felt the need...
not need..
The want!
To write down the words of this city,
It called out that it could express itself.
Sandburg found the positive of Chicago
But there is more to positive then,
Efficiency and grandeur
The buildings,
Physicals, aesthetic and their gimmicks
The city has a soul as a whole
H-O-L-E
NYC isn’t empty!
What is left in these hearts?
There is no room for a heart,
yet it's relaxed
Is no one connected?
Is no one complete?
Is no one complacent?
What does that word mean?
The city... what is it?
It is a fishbowl,
To say the least.

To Washington
Eight years of peace and prosperity
Scandal in the White House
An election is what we need
From coast-to-coast to Washington
So America voted on a president
No one kept count
On how the election went
From Florida to Washington
Goddamn, said one side
And the other said the same
Both looked pretty guilty
But no one took the blame
From coast-to-coast to Washington
So a new man in the White House
With a familiar name
Said he had some fresh ideas
But it's worse now since he came
From Texas to Washington
And he wants to fight with many
And he says it's not for oil
He sent out the National Guard
To police the world
From Baghdad to Washington
What is the thought process
To take a humans life
What would be the reason
To think that this is right
From heaven to Washington
From Jesus Christ to Washington

Still America
Big cities, small towns
Pent homes, farmhouse
Ghetto, Park Avenue
Public, privet
I matters not
It is still America
City streets, hiking trails
Montana, California
Models, hillbillies
Near, far
It matters not
It is still America
Wartime, peace
Torrent, drought
Terror, security
Together, alone
It matters not
It is still America
Southern nights, northern lights
County campsites, city hotels
Warm weather, cold climates
East, west
It matters not
It is still America
National parks, monuments
Countryside or metropolis
Right wing, left wing
Pacific, Atlantic
It matters not
It is still America
And always
Will
Be

Tale of Three Cities
New York blasted London blasted
Singapore -
Ripped off each other's metaphoric balls,
Crumbling walls.
Priapic city monoliths -
Blue-sky scraping bastards -
Shout about their height (but really length) .
V8 arseholes didn't care -
Pumping shit into the air,
So long as they were always there to
Fart aloud a smoggy cloud,
Laughing at the weak asthmatic,
Humoured that it seems traumatic.
Watch the greedy cities oozing
Chair-bound fat committees, though they
Look a bunch of titties as they
Waffle on about the pound.
Ever thought to look around and see
That they were dead?
