It Takes Two
(sylvia moy, william stevenson)
One can have a dream baby
Two can make a dream so real
One can talk about being in love
Two can see how it really feels
One can wish upon a star
Two can make a wish come true
One can stand alone in the dark
Two can make a light shine through
It takes two baby
It takes two baby
Just me and you
You know it takes two
One can have a broken heart living in misery
Two can really ease the pain like a perfect remedy
One can be alone in a bar like an island hes all alone
Two can make just any place seem just like bein at home
It takes two baby
It takes two baby
Just me and you
You know it takes two
It takes two baby
It takes two baby
Just me and you
You know it takes two
It takes two baby
It takes two baby
Just me and you
You know it takes two
One can go out to a movie looking for a special treat
Two can make that single movie something really kind of neat
And one can take a walk in the moonlight thinking that its really nice
But two lovers walking hand in hand is like adding just a pinch of spice
It takes two baby
It takes two baby
Just me and you
You know it takes two
It takes two baby
It takes two baby
Just me and you
You know it takes two
It takes two baby
It takes two baby
Just me and you
You know it takes two

Baby You Got What It Takes
Well, it takes more than a robin
To make a winter cold
Then it takes two lips of fire
To melt away the snow
Yeah, and it takes two hearts a-cookin
To make a fire glow
And baby, you got what it takes
(pullin together)
Well, it takes a lot of kissin
To make a romance sweet
And it takes a lot of lovin
To make my life complete
And it takes a lot of woman
To knock me off-a my feet
And baby, you got what it takes
Ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-we
Ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-we
Baby, youve got just what it takes
And it takes more than an effort
To stay away from you
And it takes more than a lifetime
To prove that Ill be true
(sing it with me)
Yeah, and it takes somebody special
To make me say, I do
And baby, you got what it takes
Woo-woo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-we
Woo-woo-woo-woo-woo-we
Baby, you got just what it takes
Well, it takes more than an effort (hoo)
To stay away from you (ooo, I know it)
And it takes more than a lifetime
To prove that Ill be true
And it takes somebody special
To make me say, I do
And baby, you got what it takes
Oh yeah
And baby, you got what it takes
And baby, you got what it takes

Through and through the world is infested with quantity. To talk sense is to talk quantities. It is no use saying the nation is large - how large? It is no use saying that radium is scarce - how scarce? You can not evade quantity. You may fly to poetry and music and quantity and number will face you in your rhythms and your octaves.

It Takes One To Know One
Orbison/dees
Baby, my baby you accuse me of flirting and hurting you no end
You say baby Im a cheater
You oughta know that cheaters never win
Because it takes one to know one who will hurt you
It takes one to know one wholl make you blue
It takes one to know one like I know you
Youre my kind hold my hand, use your mind understand
Baby, my baby dont blame me for playing and saying things unkind
You think baby Im a loser
But I could win if you were close behind me
Because it takes one to know one who will love you
It takes one to know one who will cry for you
It takes one to know one like I know you
Youre my kind hold my hand, use your mind understand
Baby, baby were birds of a feather, baby, baby well live together
Baby Im yours you are mine
And it takes one to know one, it takes one to know one
Yes it takes one to know one every time

Rather, for all objects and experiences, there is a quantity that has optimum value. Above that quantity, the variable becomes toxic. To fall below that value is to be deprived.

Don't leave the small quantity to get the big quantity because you might lose the one as well as the other.
Everyone Here Is Working Hard For You
Do you realize how many poems I've seen,
That you have written?
'No!
How many have you actually 'read'? '
Comeon...
You are not aware of this at all?
I read a few but not all.
'I am aware that I am a writer.
Not an accountant.
Nor someone who sets limits,
To achieve a final goal.
Or someone seeking to impress.
Each day presents its own personality.
I'm learnig to appreciate quality and not quantity.
There is something about life I more understand each day.
My personal awareness of 'that' is what I keep addressed.'
Oh...
So what is that?
If you don't mind me asking?
'I know I am not alone...
Even though I perceive I am on my own!
I hear voices clearly say to me,
Everyone here is working hard for you.
That you must believe.'
I see.
And that makes you produce quality you don't notice?
An involvement you keep distanced?
'I did not say I didn't notice the quality.
Painfully that's done.
I don't put my sights on 'quantity'.
I don't want to overwhelm.
As much as I choose to stun!
And that takes paying attention to everyone! '
Like the voices heard in your head?
'You see...
You're trying to take this somewhere else.
And what you are 'attempting' to imply...
I'm not wasting any more of my time to listen to!
Read more than you do.
And if there is any comprehension to communicate,
You need not announce that to me! '

I have known a vast quantity of nonsense talked about bad men not looking you in the face. Don't trust that conventional idea. Dishonesty will stare honesty out of countenance any day in the week, if there is anything to be got by it.

Style It Takes
Youve got the money, Ive got the time
You want your freedom, make your freedom mine
cause Ive got the style it takes
And money is all that it takes
Youve got connections, Ive got the art
You like attention and I like your looks
And I have the style it takes
And you know the people it takes
Why dont you sit right over there
Well do a movie portrait
Ill turn the camera on
And I wont even be there
A portrait that moves, you look great I think
Ill put the empire state building on your wall
For 24 hours glowing on your wall
Watch the sun rise above it in your room
Wallpaper art, a great view
Ive got a brillo box and I say its art
Its the same one you can buy at any supermarket
cause Ive got the style it takes
And youve got the people it takes
This is a rock group called the velvet underground
I show movies on them, do you like their sound
cause they have a style that grates
And I have art to make
Lets do a movie here next week
We dont have sound but youre so great
You dont have to speak
Youve got the style it takes, kiss
Youve got the style it takes, eat
Youve got the style it takes, couch
Youve got the style it takes, kiss

Who Do You Want Me To Be For You This Week?
Who do you want me to be for you this week?
Someone conservative and works alot?
Or some thug who disrespects and cusses?
Like that guy who caught your eye down the street.
You know...
The one who has five kids with different women,
Who you say is so sweet.
Who do you
Really want me to be
For you this week?
Who do you want me to be for you this week?
Tonto, Baskins of Robbins or a preacher...
The one you say looks at you,
As he stumbles through his sermon as he is preaching.
And reaching towards you to fondle,
But you say...
Nothing has happened between the sheets.
Who do you
Want me to be,
For you this week?
Nothing I do seems to please you of late.
Except for showing up for another round of cold shoulders.
You want me to be superman, Clark Kent, Clark Gable
AND Denzel!
You want me to get butt naked,
BEFORE you tell me to go to hell!
Well...
'You coming soon, baby? '
Then you expect me to be tender...
To get you heated and wet?
I am no machine, baby!
You knew that when we met...
And I knew you.
It was exactly what you wanted then,
When you tempted me away from my mate and kids!
To do what I did to know what we've done!
Never got to be the fun we thought.
This is what you got when you wanted it to be caught,
AND kept!
And that is where we differ.
With no regretted memories.
But being 'kept' and not slept with
Isn't the right thing to do.
But you didn't know that then.
And nothing between us tells me you know that now.
There can only be one happiness under one roof!
And that's the one we, you and I should have shared.
And that difference
You have not found when comparing me,
And Whoever!
Once you put two and two together...
When it dawns on you...
That I know what it takes to make you moan,
And scream and tremble...
In bed.
Knocking the headboard like a bull!
You're teaching your 'playmates'
What is takes...
To make you moan and scream and tremble,
Out of bed...ours!
And out of your head...vacant!
Was it ever near capacity?
Was it always empty? Ever, was it full?
Going up side yo' head with crowbars, bats, bricks, rocks and lies!
Those are the ones you like to flirt, tease and hypnotize!
Who do you want
Me to be,
For you this week?
An insecure abuser?
Who knows just what to do to confuse with excuses.
In low down cheating good for nothing piece of street gutter meat,
Ways.
Who do you want me to be for you this week?
You don't have many choices left.
Loving you was the best thing I wanted to do at one time!
Now the best thing I can do is to help myself not let you
Drive me out of my mind!
Not now when I know where it is.
And you were beginning to like that...
As your final exclamation,
Once I made it identifiable.
You always made demands with preferences.
'I'm glad I did the crushing...first! '
Who do you want me to be for you this week?
And tweak that with some tears.
Sobbing about how we've been together all these years.
And you can forget to mention,
Those birds in the trees chirping when we met.
You can forget those during your dramatic presentation.
But make it as good as it can get...yet!
Because next week...
Baby, I am leaving your ass for good!

Takes One Man
It takes one man to tell a lie
To start a rumor he will deny
Then to hide and cower in the light
As he has no dignity and no pride.
It takes one man to start a fight
To bully the weak with his might
To believe he's something in his mind
Though he is nothing in others sight
It takes one man to start a war
To pick on the needy and the poor
To think he is mighty with his roar
But he is nothing as he was before.
It takes one man to make a woman a whore.
To make her cheap and easy and all will ignore
To take away her pride which she had before
While he then cares for her not anymore.
It takes one man to change a life
Till the day he is born until he dies
To know when he is wrong, and tries to do right
While honesty and devotion is in his sight.
It takes one man to make a stand
To grab destiny and honor by the hand
While worries and temptations he will withstand
And as in life, it will only take just one man.

Last Week
Oh, the new-chum went to the backblock run,
But he should have gone there last week.
He tramped ten miles with a loaded gun,
But of turkey of duck saw never a one,
For he should have been there last week,
They said,
There were flocks of 'em there last week.
He wended his way to a waterfall,
And he should have gone there last week.
He carried a camera, legs and all,
But the day was hot and the stream was small,
For he should have gone there last week,
They said,
They drowned a man there last week.
He went for a drive, and he made a start,
Which should have been made last week,
For the old horse died of a broken heart;
So he footed it home and he dragged the cart --
But the horse was all right last week,
They said,
He trotted a match last week.
So he asked all the bushies who came from afar
To visit the town last week
If the'd dine with him, and they said "Hurrah!"
But there wasn't a drop in the whisky jar --
You should have been here last week,
He said,
I drank it all up last week!

Thats What It Takes
And now it begins to shine
And you found the eyes to see
Each little drop at dawn of evry day
Your smile, it comes back to me
And whatever you may say
Dont let it stop, never fade away
As we got to get out in this world together, oh
Doesnt really matter if we start to make some changes, oh
If thats what it takes (thats what it takes)
Then Ive got to be strong (thats what it takes)
Dont want to be wrong
If thats what it takes
The closer I get (thats what it takes)
Into that open door (what it takes)
Ive got to be sure
If thats what it takes
And now that its shining through
And you can see all this world
Dont let it stop, never fade away
If we got to be in this life forever, oh-oh
Then wed better be taking all the chances, oh oh
If thats what it takes (thats what it takes)
Then Ive got to be strong (thats what it takes)
Dont want to be wrong
If thats what it takes
The closer I get (thats what it takes)
Into that open door (what it takes)
Ive got to be sure
If thats what it takes
Thats what it takes, thats what it takes
Thats what it takes, thats what it takes
(thats) what it takes, thats what it takes
Thats what it takes, (thats) what it takes
Thats what it takes, oh, thats what it takes
(repeat and fade:)
Oh, thats what it takes

End Of The Week
I get out of work
And then I throw away all of my cares
I get out of work
And then I wash the week out my hair
Monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday
Its hard as could be
But by old friday evening
Were free, were free, were free
End of the week
The weekend started
Been working so hard to play
End of the week
Its time to party
End of the week
End of the week
End of the week
Youre tasting freedom
No one to push you around
End of the week
And life has a reason
End of the week
End of the week
End of the week
Street are alive
You know everybodys going somewhere
You put on the slide
You gotta beat the crowd just everywhere
And all the music all the dancing
Get you so high
And all that sweet romancing
Oh my, oh my, oh my
End of the week
The weekend started
Working so hard to play
End of the week
Its time to party
End of the week
End of the week
End of the week
Feels good now
Feels good now
End of the week
End of the week
Its real good now
Real good now
End of the week
End of the week
End of the week

It Takes Love
Written by glen burtnik, bob berger
Lead vocals by dennis deyoung
Sometimes its hard to smile
Keep looking back
Searching for somebody
Who once was in your life
Baby let him go now
Therell be something better ahead
It takes love to make love
You cant hide behind your broken heart
It takes love to make love
Let the light of another lover shine on you
We all have tears to cry
But there comes a day
To leave your tears behind you
And give your heart
Someplace to start
And if you find your way there
Therell be someone waiting for you
It takes love to make love
You cant hide behind your broken heart
It takes love to make love
Let the light of another lover shine on you
Like a river
That flows
To the sea
Dont wait
Like a river
Flowing down
Whoa...hey...ooh...ah...ooh
It takes love to make love
You cant hide behind your broken heart
It takes love to make love
Let the light of another lover shine on you
It takes love to make love
Never mind the broken heart baby
It takes love to make love
Let the light of another lover shine on you

Week In Week Out
IIs there something more?
Surely there must be
You can't lose everything
So you're quite happy
To live with nothing more
Than a life-long shopping list
You tick off on credit
Well you'll pay for it
Week in and week out
Your lucky charms will always let you down
Maybe next week, we'll see
Maybe
You stand in life completely still
Feel really truly unfulfilled
Week in week out
Where are you going to turn?
When all ambition fails?
Why try any more
If human nature's stale?
Invite the hand of God
To touch the lucky few
There's no such thing as God
Nor easy money too?
Week in and week out
These lucky charms will always let you down
Maybe next week, we'll see
Maybe
You stand in life completely still
Feel really truly unfulfilled
Week in week out
Week in and week out
Your lucky charms will always let you down
Maybe next week, we'll see
Maybe
You stand in life completely still
Feel really truly unfulfilled
Week in week out
