This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle, This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars, This other Eden, demi-paradise, This fortress built by Nature for herself Against infection and the hand of war, This happy breed of men, this little world, This precious stone set in the silver sea, Which serves it in the office of a wall Or as a moat defensive to a house, Against the envy of less happier lands,-- This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.

Coronach
(words and music by david palmer)
Grey the mist --- cold the dawn;
Cruel the sea and stern the shore.
Brave the man who sets his course
For albion.
Sweet the rose --- sharp the thorn;
Meek the soil and proud the corn.
Blessed the lamb that would be born
Within this green and pleasant land.
Hi-o-ran-i-o
Hi-o-ran-i-o
Brown furrow shine
Beneath the rain washed blue.
Bright crystal streams
From eagle mountains born.
Fortune has smiled on those who wake anew,
Within this fortress nature built
To stay the hand of war.
With the wind from the east
Came the first of those who tread
Upon this stone, this stone of kings;
This realm, this new jerusalem.

Home For Love
Because the earth is vast and dark
And wet and cold;
Because man's heart wants warmth and light
Lest it grow old;
Therefore the house was built--wall, roof
And brick and beam,
By a lost hand following the lost
Delight of a dream,
And room and stair show how that hand
Groped in eager doubt,
With needless weight of teasing timber
Matching his thought--
Such fond superfluousness of strength
In wall and wood
As his half-wise, half-fearful eye
Deemed only good.
His brain he built into the house,
Laboured his bones;
He burnt his heart into the brick
And red hearth-stones.
It is his blood that makes the house
Still warm, safe, bright,
Honest as aim and eye and hand,
As clean, as light.
Because the earth is vast and dark
The house was built--
Now with another heart and fire
To be fulfilled.

Iona: The Graves Of The Kings
I wish not to lie here.
There's hardly a plot of earth not blessed for burial, but here
One might dream badly.
In beautiful seas a beautiful
And sainted island, but the dark earth so shallow on the rock
Gorged with bad meat.
Kings buried in the lee of the saint,
Kings of fierce Norway, blood-boltered Scotland, bitterly dreaming
Treacherous Ireland.
Imagine what delusions of grandeur,
What suspicion-agonized eyes, what jellies of arrogance and terror
This earth has absorbed.

The Happy Human Being
Happy's the man, woman who…
Leads life on earth as per God's will;
Heeds to his/her conscience all life;
Relies not on own strength, skills, will;
Is satisfied with what God gives.
Happy's the man, woman who…
Loves the work that's assigned on earth;
Puts his/her heart and soul in it;
Serves God by serving fellowmen;
Toils to turn earth, a paradise!
Happy's the man, woman who…
Selflessly obeys Providence;
Cares for others more than oneself;
Accrues wealth heavenly on earth;
Always walks in the road to heaven.

A Place Called Eden
There was a paradise that ruled long ago.
Quiet.
Peaceful.
More beautiful than the human eye can ever perceive;
untainted by humans,
this Place called Eden.
This Garden was eternal, life-giving,
as perfect as the Heavens brought to Earth.
But along came Man,
swept in with a storm,
hiding the sun.
A pummeling rain flattened the flowers
and lightning licked at trees, destroying
this Place called Eden.
The clouds finally parted.
The sun peaked out fearfully, looking down
at Man, who stood alone.
Who felt himself powerful.
Betrayal drowned the Garden.
Mad smiled at his feat:
He had taken over with sin,
this Place called Eden.
Man cursed himself,
Perfection was lost, Misery
had taken over Man as Nature
healed itself for its revenge on the Destroyer.
Man learned self-loathing
and the true power of
this Place called Eden.
Death came to Earth. It punished Man fiercer
than Nature had: any man close
to finding the lost Land
was taken from Earth,
and Man was never to find it again,
this Place called Eden.

Her Majesty
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II: Royalty
through and through and through;
blue blood thoroughbred; 25-K golden Bough
of the Mystic Tree of Tea Tephi
Realm; Commander of the British Scone;
Crown icon of the 20th century, she's
a lady bound by merciless destiny
to a lifetime of servitude and duty
who, with platinum locks sparkling
and diamond eyes twinkling
has looked on truth askance and strangely*
but come away from that with a humility
which, simply, takes all breath away.
And there's no reason to even mention
her dignity: it's stamped in every atom,
timelessly, that her royal fingers touch.
Now, as we look back to that instant
long, long ago when Our Majesty's
Corona came down in glory and power,
a sacred seal eternal, I do solemnly pray
that, after six decades of works well done
and duties discharged, accounted all inventories,
for one square moment, our Regent may,
from that sceptered isle, that England, #
stop and savour the fruits of her labours-
and smile!
For the globe is clapping hands communally
together in congratulations, commanding Her Majesty
to have a happy, happy, happy, happy Jubilee! :
and I, a man born into a lifetime
of misery and poverty with only this tiny
poem to proffer in tribute, can finally say-
i really really really really love She!

His Land
Yes it is his land, all of it his
He stepped it off and marked it there,...stepped it off and marked it there
To be his ugly thoroughfare,...to be his ugly thoroughfare
And he blessed it with his hand,...yes its a great land, all of it is
And as it blooms before our eyes,...as it blooms before our eyes
Just like an eden paradise,...like an eden paradise
The world will understand,...world will understand...this is his land
Slowly from hiding but surely they come
Back to the homeland their fathers will front
Israel their citadel, israel their home
Now they are here at last never to roam
Here they will stay and bring life to the land
Its a new day and with boldness they walk, tall and so straight
See them stand
Yes it is his land, all of it his
He stepped it off and marked it there...stepped it off and marked it there
To be his ugly thoroughfare,...to be his ugly thoroughfare
And then he blessed it with his land,...yes its a great land, all of it is
And as blooms before our eyes,...as it blooms before our eyes
Like an eden paradise,...like an eden paradise
The world will understand,...world will understand...this is his land
Rich fertile valleys of russet and gold, carpets of green over mountains
Unfold
Harvest of plenty so joyous and bright, her fields her treasures
Magnificent sight
This is the israel promised of old, this is the miracle happening now
As ages in prophets fortold
Yes it is his land......

He Brings Salvation
It is God alone, who brings, Salvation in The King of kings,
He is the very Lord of lords, whom to all the world affords,
God’s Gift of Eternal Life, through the Savior, Jesus Christ,
Offering to all a second birth, to every willing soul on earth.
For God alone is The One, Who sent to earth His Only Son,
Who set aside His Majesty, to live on earth for you and me,
Coming to earth as a child, born in a stable, meek and mild,
Starting in that lowly place; was for us, God’s gift of Grace.
The vessel of how we are saved, from a world so depraved,
In a world dark as the night, Christ became this world’s light,
The center of salvation’s plan, isn’t us, but, The Son of Man,
Sent to earth by God’s Grace, to save the entire human race.
With mankind the focus of, the Lord God’s unmatched Love,
A Love offering all we need, as Christ alone would intercede,
For sinners such as you and I, when He came to earth to die,
Paying God’s Supreme Price, becoming for all His Sacrifice.
From His death He would rise, to His throne above the skies,
And here on earth as we believe, God’s Salvation we receive,
As the only work required of us, is to in Christ place our trust,
For it’s all God’s work of Grace, when I come to Him by faith.

This Precious Stone
Childless!
And many are lost in the wind;
But in the matter of my innovcence,
They took the exits without delay!
And i am now at the entrance of my lover.
All men and women are merely players,
But as you do love something so will you like it as well;
For all the aspects of life in the world are like a stage!
As you may like to use it so you may like to eat it as well,
And like the school boys who were late today;
For they've impregnated their female mates.
What makes you very grief on this matter?
And to quench your fiery indignation;
But let no such a man be fooled and,
Let no such a woman be trusted as well;
For the wolrd is like a stage to all of us and,
The royal throne of love is always around us!
But many are still childless.
Boat, coat, moat, goat;
The precious stone is set in the middle of the sea,
But under the canopies of love and with the sound of the wave;
For the power of your romance is lulled with the sweetest melody.
Forgetfulness is part of mankind but your city of love is like,
The doors, therooms and the gates of your passion;
For the flint of knives are here to cut out an image from your ivory.
Naked and barefooted,
True love is sweeter than wine;
But i am like the carved image from the ivory in your hand,
And like the precious stone set in the middle of the sea.

This House
(nile rodgers)
This house is built
On a foundation of love
This house is built
On a foundation of love
Our toys are in the attic baby
Pictures on the wall
We can see our memories
From the days past in the mirror
Down the hall, oh yeah
Our love will survive in our own little paradise
So inspired, so inspired
Palatial it may not be
But its a home and a castle to me
A dream from a magazine
And well never give it up cause
This house is built
On a foundation of love
This house is built
On a foundation of love
Ill try to comfort you baby
You try to comfort me yeah
I know you love me
With all your heart, oh yeah
cause you say you do
You know that when you are sad
Ill be there in a flash
At the drop of a hat, oh yeah
cause I want you to feel love
And you dont have to say a thing
You dont have to ask, cause baby
This house is built
On a foundation of love
This house is built
On a foundation of love
Maybe well strike it rich
One day really make it big
And I know because our love is so strong
Well always have a home
This house is built
On a foundation of love
This house is built
On a foundation of love
This house is built
On a foundation of love
This house is built
On a foundation of love
This house is built
On a foundation of love
This house is built
On a foundation of love

WHAT have I done for you,
England, my England?
What is there I would not do,
England, my own?
With your glorious eyes austere,
As the Lord were walking near,
Whispering terrible things and dear
As the Song on your bugles blown, England --
Round the world on your bugles blown!
Where shall the watchful Sun,
England, my England,
Match the master-work you've done,
England, my own?
When shall he rejoice again
Such a breed of mighty men
As come forward, one to ten,
To the Song on your bugles blown, England --
Down the years on your bugles blown?
Ever the faith endures,
England, my England: --
'Take and break us: we are yours,
England, my own!
Life is good, and joy runs high
Between English earth and sky:
Death is death; but we shall die
To the Song on your bugles blown, England --
To the stars on your bugles blown!'
They call you proud and hard,
England, my England:
You with worlds to watch and ward,
England, my own!
You whose mailed hand keeps the keys
Of such teeming destinies,
You could know nor dread nor ease,
Were the Song on your bugles blown, England --
Round the Pit on your bugles blown!
Mother of Ships whose might,
England, my England,
Is the fierce old Sea's delight,
England, my own,
Chosen daughter of the Lord,
Spouse-in-Chief of the ancient Sword,
There's the menace of the Word
In the Song of your bugles blown, England --
Out of heaven on your bugles blown!

This World Is Magic
Dreams can make you fly
This world is magic
Rainbows in the sky
This world is magic to me
Dreams can make you fly
This world is magic
We need peace on earth
The second birth of paradise
This world is magic
This world is magic to me
This world is magic
What is the magic of this world
What is the magic of this world
What is the magic of this world
What is the magic of this world
What is the magic of this world
What is the magic of this world
We need peace on Earth
The second birth of paradise
This world is what we share
The nature and the air
Life could be paradise
Eternal peace is what we need
To live in harmony
For human history
Pray for a better world
When you close your eyes again
Planet Earth, that's the name of my place
I'm born in this world, in the entire space
Planet earth, is my home, is my face
Follow your trace embrace this human race
In case, there's a new decade in human history
I'm talking about respect this is my destiny
Feel free, and stop running away
From the doubt in your mind,- never fade to grey
Planet Earth, gentle and blue
Then cold as a rock, or ice without a hue
Planet earth, made out of dust
A big ball of metal, condemn to rust
Pray, let your soul be free
Find out how to heal a bleeding wound don't stand around
Life could be paradise, peace on earth is what I found
All around in a magic world from the air to the ground

0181 Mr and Mrs Andrews Seated In Their Estate
Beware, if you’re a portrait painter,
of being born in England. And if
you’re skilled at background –
the rolling landscape which they're
so proud to own – or painting highlights
upon a silk or satin gown…be doubly hesitant –
we ruined Holbein and we ruined Van Dyck,
with our demands to make us victorious,
happy and glorious, long to reign over others
in our stately home, later in
the auction house, in
the ‘collection’ of the recent millionaire, in
the public gallery; though while you live, Sir Portrait Painter
we'll enrol you in our club as temporary gent…
Beware - if you’re a potential patron -
of being painted by the great:
in the corners of their flattery
whose price you resent but need in greed to have,
lurks truth. You, sir, looking so judicious,
why are your lips so meanly pressed?
You, young man, aspiring to a lordly rank,
why are your eyes already lined
with wenching, gaming, debt?
Beware - if you’re an ‘art critic’ or a lecturer -
of your so ready, easy, redbrick politics
which masquerade as ‘context’ – for
there may be traps..
‘Here, ladies and gentlemen – would you
stand back a little so that everyone can see? –
are Mr Robert Andrews of Sudbury, Suffolk, and
his wife Frances, painted by that
enchanting painter Thomas Gainsborough
around 1748 to 1749… they chose
the right man for the job: here are the rolling miles
of this royal throne of kings, this
sceptred island, this jewel set
in a silver sea, this earth, this realm, this –
England – which they have the impertinence
of the nouveau riche to think they own – note,
in contrast to Gainsborough’s customary lovely touch,
how awkwardly they pose – is this the
first black cloud that presages the fall
of ancien regimes? The first comment
on social class in England’s much-delayed
Enlightenment? The socialist critic Peter Berger
says of this revealing document in paint…’
etc.
Alas for theory
about this awkward pair: the painting’s raw
because it’s not quite finished and now
over-cleaned, no mellowing brownish final varnish;
and notice the bedroom shadows under
her eyes, above the prim finishing-school mouth
that almost smiles: they’ve only married this very
month: he’s twenty-two, she’s just sixteen.
and they have had their
first lovers’ tiff: should Gainsborough
paint in the pheasant which her Bob’s just shot,
which is already outlined in her lap -
and spoil her new, so sky-blue satin dress?
They haven’t yet decided; Gainsborough’s left
the painting unfinished, while they kiss, make up, decide;
he has another appointment booked.
How much more interesting than what we know
is what, alas, we don’t.

Silver And Gold
Silver, silver and gold
Silver and gold, silver and gold
Ev'ryone wishes for silver and gold
How do you measure its worth?
Just by the pleasure it gives here on earth.
Silver and gold, silver and gold
Mean so much more when I see
Silver and gold decorations
On ev'ry Christmas tree.
Silver, silver and gold
Silver, silver and gold
Silver and gold
Silver and gold
Silver and gold
Wise men brought gifts to the mange I'm told
Mary was humble to see
Shepherds and kings there on bended knees
It's silver and gold, silver and gold
Feeling the world with their lives
Silver and gold how they shimmer on ev'ry Christmas night
On ev'ry Christmas night
Silver, silver and gold

Sonnet. On Peace
O PEACE! and dost thou with thy presence bless
The dwellings of this war-surrounded Isle;
Soothing with placid brow our late distress,
Making the triple kingdom brightly smile?
Joyful I hail thy presence; and I hail
The sweet companions that await on thee;
Complete my joy let not my first wish fail,
Let the sweet mountain nymph thy favourite be,
With England's happiness proclaim Europa's Liberty.
O Europe! let not sceptred tyrants see
That thou must shelter in thy former state;
Keep thy chains burst, and boldly say thou art free;
Give thy kings law leave not uncurbed the great ;
So with the horrors past thou'lt win thy happier fate!

The Daughter Of A King
You are the daughter of a king.
Trapped in a stately tower, to the world you sing.
You have power and authority,
My precious majesty.
You are the daughter of the king of all Kings,
A King who created the heavens and the earth,
And all that shall remain in its worth.

The Lord Reigns
The Lord Reigns from on High, upon His throne above the sky,
And from His throne in majesty, He rules the world that we see.
He ruled the world in ages past, with a rule that will forever last.
For Christ will reign for Eternity, as all nations on earth will see.
His uplifted hand still is raised, though by all, He is not praised.
When His Wrath begins to flow, every nation on earth will know,
That Christ is the sustainer of, everything in the heavens above,
And of all upon the earth below, everything we’ve come to know.
One thing you can not dismiss, that He reigns in Righteousness,
Indeed, Holiness is found in Him, that reigns above all earthly sin.
When He reigns upon the earth, all sin and iniquity will be purged.
At that time His righteous decree, will cover earth from sea to sea.
Today Christ reigns in the heart, of every believer who’s set apart,
Set apart by The Lord above, cleansed from sin and filled with love.
Today we reign in Christ’s Spirit, sharing Truth with all who hear it,
Knowing when Christ does come, we will reign with God’s own Son.
You can also reign with Christ, and receive from Him Eternal Life,
If you receive Him in your heart, you, in His Reign, will have a part.
If you choose to dismiss The Lord, you, by Jesus, won’t be ignored,
And from His Reign of Righteousness, you will surely be dismissed.

all glorious in His Majesty.

Tremble all the earth before the Lord
For He is the true and living God
Come, gather before His throne and bring
Your praise to the Everlasting King.
