We sat around and I fed them barbecue and whiskey. And pretty soon everyone started to compete with each other on the guitars. It seemed the more everyone drank and ate, the more everyone got into it.

Trashed

It really was a meeting
The bottle took a beating
The ladies of the manor
Watched me climb into my car and I was
Going down the track about a hundred and five
They had the stopwatch rolling
I had the headlights blazing I was really alive
And yet my mind was blowing
I drank a bottle of tequila and I felt real good
But on the twenty-fifth lap at the canal turn
I went off exploring
I knew I wouldnt make it the car just wouldnt make it
I was turning the tires burning
The ground was in my sky
I was laughing the bitch was trashed
And death was in my eye
I had started pretty good and I was feeling my way
I had the wheels in motion
There was peter and the greenfly laughing like drains
Inebriation
The crowd was roaring I was at brands hatch
In my imagination
But at the canal turn I hit an oily patch
Inebriation
Ooh mr. miracle, you saved me from some pain
I thank you mr. miracle, I wont get trashed again
Ooh, can you hear my lies
Dont you bother with this fool just laugh into my eyes
So we went back to the bar and hit the bottle again
But there was no tequila
Then we started on the whiskey just to steady our brains
cause there was no tequila
And as we drank a little faster at the top of our hill
We began to roll
And as we got trashed we were laughing still
Oh bless my soul

Poison Whiskey

Daddy was a cajun, raised on southern land
And so my kinfolks tell me, was a street-fightin man.
Well, they rushed him down to see the doctor
hey doctor, wont you check his head?
The only thing that was wrong with him
Was johnny walkers red
He drank ole poison whiskey
til it killed him dead.
It happened back in the bayou many years ago
Satan came to take him and he did it real slow
Well, they rushed him back to see the doctor
The doctor just shook his head,
twenty years of rotgut whiskey
Done killed the poor man dead.
He drank ole poison whiskey
til it killed him dead.
Take a tip from me, people... brothers cant you see
Aint no future in ole poison whiskey.
Theyre gonna rush you down to see the doctor,
The doctors gonna shake his head.
The only thing hes gonna tell ya
stop drinkin johnny walkers red
Dont drink poison whiskey, dont you drink it boy.

Upon Visiting A Dying Woman In The Hospital At Room 108

actually the barbecue
is more than what it appears to be
its scent of meat
and the hotness of the spice
and delicacy of
the sauce
it is the front of something
that is hidden
there is something behind its shape
and odor
i cannot speak to you about it
so i offer you that
pork barbecue
i know that hunger that
does not want to be fed
time fills that
grief
that cannot be appeased

the barbecue is cold
set aside in one of the corners
of the table
grease is solidified
no one
not one from those who see
the emaciated body
of the dying woman
wants to take
the bite

someone does
but eventually there is that
obstruction in the
throat
and so the tongue
expels that piece
of pork barbecue
again

what a waste!
yet we can never voice
this matter out

the eyes speak a lot
but you know then
they have no voices

Indian Gin And Whisky Dry

All day, all night you feel as if the earth could fly.
Three more all for fine Indian Gin and whiskey dry,
Fine Indian Gin and whiskey dry.
Small town , closed down; There's nowhere else around to try.
Disturbingly a voice would cry,
"Go home, no loan, You'll have you gin and whiskey dry,
You'll have your gin and whiskey dry".
Four ten, four men lining up for their handy brandy.
All's gone, you're none, came the bartender's reply.
But I've tried and I'm tied to Indian Gin and whiskey dry.

It is better for a woman to compete impersonally in society, as men do, than to compete for dominance in her own home with her husband, compete with her neighbors for empty status, and so smother her son that he cannot compete at all.

Mr. Pretty Boy

Hey, mr. pretty boy ...,
You sure been lookin' good. yeah.
Said, mr. pretty boy ...,
You lookin' like you should. mmmmm ...
Until you took the bottle and turned it up,
You didn't want to quit 'til you drank up all of that stuff.
Now, mr. pretty boy ...,
Now you don't look so good. no, noooo ...
Ahhhhhhh ... oh.
Mr. pretty boy ....
Sitting in the parlour,
You entertain your guests. mmmmm ...
Mr. pretty boy ....
That's what you do the best. that's what you do.
Until you told the butler to bring another round,
And no one else was drinkin' but you went and sucked them all down.
Now, mr. pretty boy ...,
Now you don't look so good. no ... you don't
Ahhhhhhh ... oh.
Mr. pretty boy ...,
Ahhhhhhh ... oh.
Mr. pretty boy ...,
Mist ... mr. pretty boy ...

The Barbecue

When summer evenings are nice and hot,
The thing to do is find a spot,
Where a barbecue can be set up,
So everyone can come and sup,
Relax with a bottle, and sit for a spell,
Which would be really nice and would end the day well,
And enjoy the light hearted, cheerful chatter,
With friends, who to you, truly matter.
Right!
The table's set, the flares are lit,
The music should be a real hit
The friends have arrived, the drink if flowing,
Laughter starts, the barbecue's glowing,
The cooking has started, the aroma's divine,
Everyone is getting along fine,
When!
The barbecue begins to smoke,
The chef, who's coughing begins to choke,
The chops are burnt the spare ribs too,
Everyone's looking very blue,
Conversation has now come to a halt,
What has happened, who's at fault,
There's thick smoke spiralling into the air,
It's now giving everyone a scare,
People are suddenly beginning to panic,
Good heavens, they are going manic,
What can be done, the food is no more,
The wine has been spilt all over the floor,
Everyone is utterly desolated,
For the poor old barbecue has disintegrated,
On top of that, it has started to rain,
It is really driving the guests insane,
The garden's looking a real shambles,
It really is just one of those gambles,
That the weather will go and change her mind,
But it's left such devastation behind.
The hostess takes a deep breath and swallows her pride,
Waves everyone goodbye, takes it all in her stride,
Clears up all the mess, and calls it a day,
But will book another date and just hope and pray,
That the weather forecast might treat them well, so
With friends once again, they can dine alfresco.

I Love The Sound Of Crashing Guitars

Mao mao mao...
I love the sound of smashing guitars /
I love the sound of crashing guitars /
Red guitars against the wall / big guitars can turn so small /
I love the sound of crashing guitars / show it!
The 6-string kick inside / the 6-string kick inside /
The 6-string kick inside.
I love the sound of breaking guitars /
I love the sound of crashing guitars /
Hey you long haired vintage jesus /
Break the guitar into 1000 pieces /
I love the sound of crashing guitars / dont you?
The 6-string kick inside / the 6-string kick inside.
Dont you love the sound of crashing guitars? /
Dont you love the sound of crashing electric guitars? /
Dont you love that sound, drivin in your car /
Dont you love the sound of crashing electric guitars? /
Dont you? / dont you?
I love the touch of watching the stars /
I love the sound of trashing guitars /
Custom made, townshends ace /
Smash the axe and break the case /

And it looks like the music hall race has caught me up
But Ill compete (yeah yeah)

Retrieve from you my with-held treasure,
Then watch you sink with you sunken rotting wreck,
Let us hurry now, time is running out,
Lets not forget time is money said the business man to his faithful scout.
But Ill compete (in the national press)
For all that its worth

Pretty Boys

Pretty boys - on my tv screen
Teeth so white and hair so clean
Pretty boys - sing and play guitars
Pretty boys get to be big stars
How do you rate my sex appeal from one to ten
Is my image just a bit confusing
Maybe I should get a facelift, start again
Maybe I should trade my pointed shoes in
cause talent dont count
For pretty boys
Those promo people got a lot to answer for
You can take your face and see just where it fits
Be a pretty pawn in someone elses war
Your baby blue eyes - somebody elses wits
Equals success
For pretty boys
I wanna see a human being on my tv set
Want some action for the fat and thin man
Theyre getting closer but they aint got robots yet
Just a hero with a smile like a tin man
No brains and no heart
Just pretty boys

I want to do some poet stuff just so I can compete

Today (Day 4) I wrote some things I thought was pretty neat
I want to do some poetry just so as I’ll compete

Today (Day 5) I’ve written things I think are fairly neat
I want to write poetically so that I can compete

Today (Day 6) I’m writing verse that is a poets treat
Expressing so poetically; you really can’t compete

Today (Day 7) One is just the best that one can be
I’m thinking other lesser folk should focus just on me

Today (Day 8) I give critique whilst looking down my nose
“One shouldn’t stand illiteracy – Does really one suppose”

Today (Day 9) Ones course is done, one writes on this and that
One’s still unread but now one wears a cloak and silk cravat

I sung sometimes

I sung sometimes my thoughts’ and fancy's pleasure,
Where then I list, or time serv’d best and leisure,
While Daphne did invite me
To supper once, and drank to me to spite me.
I smil’d, yet still did doubt her,
And drank where she had drank before, to flout her.
But oh while I did eye her,
My eyes drank love, my lips drank burning fire.

Brahma Fear

Brahma fear
By: jimmy buffett
1974
Id like to ride the rodeo
But Ive got brahma fear
So Ill just stick to aeroplanes
Gently pop my ears
Drank a lot a whiskey
It gives me such a glow
It makes me quite immobile
But it lets my feelins show
And Im somewhere below the spotlight
Somewhere below the ground
You dig deep enough you might find me
Find me and youve found my sound
Yes I own a whaler boat
It slides across the sea
And some folks say Im part of it
And I know, its part of me
And when Im feelin solitaire
It lets me be alone
And when I want to habitate
It carries me back home
And Im somewhere below the sunlight
Somewhere upon the sea
You dig deep enough you might find me
Find me cause thats where Ill be
Yes I drank a lot of whiskey
It gives me such a glow
It makes me quite immobile
Ah, but it lets my feelins show
Coda:
Yes it makes me quite immobile
Ah, but it lets my feelins show

Whiskey And Jesus

He said, it's whiskey and Jesus
it's grandkids at the door
it's the woman lying speechless
she cant take it anymore
it's the roar of desperation
that sickens and devours
it's the stillness of alone
that turns minutes into hours
it's whiskey and Jesus

He said, it's whiskey and Jesus
it's the hoe in the field
the hawk circling overhead
dust on the windowsill
it's empty shelves in the pantry
callouses on his hands
it's nowhere to turn
the pride of a man...
it's whiskey and Jesus

He said, it's whiskey and Jesus
it's the lines 'neath his eyes
it's the tight lipped anger
that never questions why
it's the memories and ashes
of a thousand highway miles
the hard face of dignity
painted by the trials...
it's whiskey and Jesus...

Whiskey Man

Whiskey mans my friend, hes with me nearly all the time
He always joins me when I drink, and we get on just fine
Nobody has ever seen him, Im the only one
Seemingly I must be mad, insanity is fun
If thats the way its done
Doctors say he just a figment of my twisted mind
If they cant see my whiskey man they must be going blind
Two men dressed in white collected me two days ago
They said theres only room for one and whiskey man cant go
Whiskey man will waste away if hes left on his own
I cant even ring him cause he isnt on the phone
Hasnt got a home
Life is very gloomy in my little padded cell
Its a shame there wasnt room for whiskey man as well
Whiskey mans my friend, hes with me nearly all the time
He always joins me when I drink, and we get on just fine
Just fine

King Whiskey

King Whishey's father down in Hell,
He rubbed his hands with glee,
'My son on earth is doing well,
Extremely well,' said he;
'Pile up the logs upon the blaze
And let the furnace roar,
Another batch of Whiskey's slaves
Is hammering at the door.'

The flames shot up a brilliant red,
The grid was white with heat,
A basting pot of boiling lead
Was placed on every seat.
'Ha, ha,' said Satan, 'this is neat;
We have no cause to fear
That they'll complain they did not meet
A warm reception here.'

King Whiskey sat upon his throne,
His courtiers standing round,
All meek, subservient in tone,
They bowed them to the ground.
In tribute then they handed up
Their stores of golden wealth,
And from the reeking poison cup
They drank King Whiskey's health!

And out beyond the palace gates
The wives and mothers stand,
And, breadless, loudly curse the fates
That whiskey rules the land.
The courtiers dimly hear the cry,
But Whiskey dulls their ears,
'Fill up, let revelry run high,
We'll drown these childish fears!'

And men there are in Whiskey's land
Complaining times are bad
And money getting scarcer and
But little to be had;
And yet however bad is trade
And things however flat,
King Whiskey's tribute must be paid,
They can't go short of that!

King Whiskey's courtiers soon grow old,
And tribute's falling short,
The strength is gone, the blood is cold
The once clear mind distraught!
And demons, imps, and grinning apes.
And glaring reptiles yell,
And loathsome forms and fearsome shapes
All point the road to Hell!

But Whiskey's court is bright and gay.
Nor do the ranks grow thin,
For as the old are borne away
The younger ones come in.
King Whiskey's father down in Hell,
He rubs his hands with glee,
'My son on earth is doing well,
Extremely well,' says he.

Same Boy You've Always Known

you fell down of course
and then you got up of course
and started over
forgot my name of course
then you started to remember
pretty tough to think about
the beginning of december
pretty tough to think about
pretty tough to think about
yeah yeah
pretty tough to think about
you're looking down again
and then you look me over
we're laying down again
on a blanket in the clover
the same boy youve always known
well i guess i havent grown
the same boy youve always known
the same boy youve always known
think of what the past did
it could have lasted
so put it in your basket
i hope you know a strong man
who can lend you a hand
lowering my casket
i thought this is just today
and soon youd be returning
the coldest blue ocean water cannot stop
my heart and mind from burning
everyone who's in the know says
thats exactly how it goes
and if theres anything good about me
im the only one who knows

Better With Age!

whiskey gets better with age,
so do well made guitars.
mountains become more serene,
and old trees are majestic with power!

the soup that simmers long
has a better taste.
old clothes are more comfortable.
old songs never get old...

old lovers know without asking.
old houses have their ghosts.
inside of me there's still a storm,
a rainbow, and something...

waiting on the dawn!

Radio Star
And how my dad beat me and how much he drank
Do you think it'll help my records sell
Cause Im the radio star with the cars and the clothes
The fancy guitars and the spoon in my nose
You know in my world now anything goes
You all want to be me, and Ill be gone in a week
Hang out with Britney and Fred Durst
Arrive in a limo, Ill leave in a hearse
And I cant decide now which part is worse
Losing my life to the game, or losing the fortune and fame
Cause Im the radio star with the cars and the clothes
The fancy guitars and the spoon in my nose
You know in my world now anything goes
You all want to be me, and Ill be gone in a week
You put me on TV with all the cool stars
Like Letterman, Conan and Jay
Cause were all experts at the art of PR
And nobody knows that Im gay
Im the radio star with the cars and the clothes

You know in my world now anything goes
