Do you ever get the feeling that the only reason we have elections is to find out if the polls were right?

Squabbling in public will eventually ruin football; there's no doubt it's hurting us already. Polls taken by Louis Harris - polls as valid as any political polls - indicate that very clearly.

Just two weeks ago, millions of Iraqis defied the threats of terrorists and went to the polls to determine their own future. I congratulate the Iraqi people for the courage they've shown in making these elections so successful.

Sure, it is apparent that presidents are looking at polls, but they are also stepping up on issues. President Clinton stepped up on tobacco. He shaped the polls on the tobacco issue.

Reasons
Many lives they come, many lives they go
Without reason
In my heart I know I cannot let go
Without reason
Little children dont you feel so sad
When you come home feeling lost and bad
You got a reason, oh you got a reason
Oh woman, I gave my heart to you
When I found out what youve been through
You got a reason, oh you got a reason
Many lives they come, many lives they go
Without a reason in your heart
How could you know?
In my heart I know I cannot let go
Without a reason in my heart
How could you know?
(I know)
When they find you crying sorrows tears
And its too late after all these years
You got a reason, gimme that reason
Its boys be strong and girls be weak
But children, careful how you speak
You got a reason, gimme that reason
Many lives they come, many lives they go
Without a reason in your heart
How could you know?
In my heart I know I cannot let go
Gotta reason in my heart and dont you know?
I believe in love
I believe in you baby
What about love?
Give it to me, you gotta give me a reason baby
Little children dont you feel so bad
When you come home feeling lost and sad
You gotta reason
Believe it in your heart and it will show

I Love....
i love...
that's the reason i walk,
the reason i breathe.
the reason i grieve.
the reason i dance.
the reason i smile.
the reason i listen.
the reason i offer a hand.
the reason i see beauty.
the reason i see both darkness,
and light....
the reason i take chances.
the reason i keep going.
the reason i get angry.
the reason i forgive.
the reason i touch.
the reason i question.
the reason i believe.
the reason i am tolerant.
the reason i understand.
the reason i fall.
the reason i fly.
the reason i write...
the reason i am what i am!

A Secret Message To Our Politicians
Why can’t we have proportional representation at the polls?
Do our politicians look down from above on us poor souls?
In first past the post systems, the several others always loose,
The system is so badly bent that no one needs an excuse.
How do we get propositions, recalls and referendums?
Should I send my opposition politician a memorandum?
Can politicians ignore the needs of the people forever?
Are all attempts and pleas for change a useless endeavour?
How do we get an euthanasia pill or death with dignity?
Are these decisions ruled by some high religious deity?
Could we have set-date elections and plebiscites please?
Should I just shut up because of my lack of expertise?

Where Do You Find Me?
if you search me
if you love me that enough
you will find me in the rain
without an umbrella
you do not find me rushing
i have no reason to
and take the safety of a shed
you will find me shivering
my hair wet and uncombed
you will find me cold
my lips are pale
my arms are shaking
you will find me helpless
and weak and almost dying
you have to find me
i have no reason to live
please....

Can We Find A Reason
Is there anyone out there
Willing to try ?
Or are we satisfied with just getting by ?
We've hurt mother nature
Can't you see her she's crying
We've robbed and we've raped her and taken her child
And oh oh oh can we find a reason ?
Just think about it
And oh oh oh can we find a reason
To live another season ?
We're fighting more battles
Everyday we're alive
We should be rejoicing
But instead we cry
This world's so polluted
You would think we were blind
We poison our children
Before they're defined
And oh oh oh can we find a reason ?
Just think about it
And oh oh oh can we find a reason
To live another season ? yeah
Excuse me for saying
'Cause I've never been shy
But if we don't stop this
We sho'nuff goin' die
Yes I hope we can make it
'Cause this river's run dry
Now our only battle
Will be to survive
