Gandhi has more recently recognized the need for continuance of British, American and Chinese efforts in India and has suggested that these troops might remain by agreement with some new Indian Government.

An Ode To A Saint Of Peace
An Ode to a Saint of Non-Violence – Mahatma Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
He came from a non-descript Indian place
A village which would not have a place
In Her Majesty’s palace’ grace
What could this man for India raise?
When the Indian nation reeled
Under a foreign yoke
This frail man with iron will
Preached a master stroke
He visualized violence was no funnel
To get to the end of the tunnel
That the spring of freedom would gurgle
For the Indian freedom struggle
It is not arms and blood
Or revenge, violence or death
That will get India freedom
From the British kingdom
They can take away our right
They can make their sticks bite
They can take us to gaol
But they cannot take away our soul!
Protests with no violence
Will shake their conscience
It is the only way
For the British to loose its sway
Despite British scorn
And ire of critics
He made every Indian “re-born”
And friends of skeptics
Respect for all and love for mankind
He preached & practiced
He made every Indian aware
And the British beware
When the British enacted suppressive laws
This soul bonded us with his non-violent straw
His simplicity and truthfulness held all in awe
He gave us belief, pride and strength not to thaw
In 1930 Gandhi gave a key freedom call
Civil disobedience was the mantra for all
Salt Tax was the symbol of oppression
That every Indian was to defy and make it fall
Men & women all were one
With Gandhi, they feared none
When Gandhi gave his peaceful protest call
They all rallied behind it like a wall
In Gandhi’s belief the nation rallied
Made the British rulers harried
The struggle for the British to leave continued
The voice of India was not to be subdued
The Salt law was broken
It was a challenge in token
The average Indian now believed
That the British could be shaken
The British police rained bullets and blows
Gandhi remained defiant with his followers in tow
Line replaced line as protestors were brought down
Under the bullets and blows of the Crown
A trickle became a torrent
The British blows served no deterrent
Pan India the rallies and crowds swelled
The peaceful voice of freedom could not be quelled
British goods were boycotted
In public rallies, they were burnt
Swadeshi! Swadeshi! rent the air
While the British sirens blared
Civil dis-obedience and satyagraha – grounded
The British were perplexed and confounded
The entire nation rallied to his non-violent call
The world took notice of it all
Came World War II
The Allies were stretched
While the war was won
British revenue coffers were wrecked
The Indian “Golden Hen”
Became a revenue drain
While Gandhi did not give in
His non-violent freedom refrain
Quit India! Quit India!
Unrelenting was Gandhi’s call
While the clamor gathered
The British “will” shattered
The Britsh knew not - how to handle it all
A frail looking man, had challenged them all
Years of supremacy of the British domain
Had cracked up under this non-violent virus strain.
The British empire gave in
To Gandhi’s non-violence spin
India was to become free
Without any violence or fee.
It is to this frail looking man
That the world gives credit
The strong belief in non-violence
He continues to inspire without any edit
To Indian, he is Bapu – The Father of the Nation
To the world he is an apostle of non-violence
And while the world looks on in silence
On still continuing theatres of violence
I pray that conflicting parties learn
No peace comes from the power of the gun
In how Bapu got us freedom – they should learn
Violence - they should shun

No one will expect the British Government or the Government of India to give way to threats of violence, disorder and chaos; and, indeed, representatives of large sections of Indian opinion have expressly warned us that we must not do so.

Prabhupada - Abhay Charan's College Days
While Abhay was in the college
His father performed his marriage.
But the couple lived not together,
Until his studies were o’er.
Radharani Datta was his spouse,
Who lived in her parent’s house.
As Abhay’s father was so keen
On his son finishing graduation.
Hardly his fourth year was o’er,
There arose a national uproar,
And a “quit India” movement
Against the British government.
Subhas Chandra Bose, his senior,
Who became a national leader,
Urged the students to come out,
And extend their active support.
Always non-political Abhay was,
This time, he liked this cause
For freeing this Dharmic country,
From the shackles of slavery.
Mahatma Gandhi, another leader,
Promptly influenced him further
With a slogan of “Non-co-operation, ”
That, in turn, shook the entire nation.
Krishna’s Bhagavad Gita Book,
Gandhi, with him, always took,
And read some portions therein,
While addressing the nation.
As Abhay loved Gita always,
He felt it one of Gandhi’s ways
To attain the country’s freedom,
Fighting from a spiritual platform.
In 1920, he gave up his studies,
After passing fourth year exams,
And refused to accept his diploma,
As a protest, to liberate India.
The killing of people unarmed,
At Jallianwalla Bagh, in hundreds,
While attending a peaceful meeting,
Triggered a massive national uprising.
This action of British government
Resulted in a total resentment
Among all the Indian people
Against their demonic rule.
Abhay’s father was concerned,
Of his future, and remained worried,
But didn’t go against his son’s free will
And kill his spirit to join a national call.
He got his son fixed up in a job
In his doctor friend’s ‘Bose lab, ’
Where Abhay joined as a Manager
Just to please his worried father.

Sonnet: ‘Happy Birthday, Dear Mahatma Gandhiji!
A foreign-trained Indian and bar-at-law,
Spear-headed freedom struggle for his land;
His methods followed held the world in awe;
He won us freedom with his magic wand!
To fight the British Raj was not a joke!
Non-violence, Satyagraha had both worked;
The half-dressed Gandhi did not even smoke;
The white man's strategy was annulled, jerked!
The man became the Father of the soil,
And sacrificed his life to gain freedom;
The secrets were his faith in God and toil,
That wrought the miracle that's seen seldom!
Hats off to Gandhi who a legend turned;
The British rule, he successfully spurned!

India
India, India, India
India, India, clarified butter from the holy cow
India, India, India
I'm a pauper bereft of spiritual vision
Looking for a guru such a decision
India, India, India
Clarified butter from the holy cow
India, India, India
I'm a conscious consumer
but there's nothing to consume
Lotus flowers are still in bloom in
India, India, India
India, India, clarified butter from the holy cow
India, India, India
India, India
India, India

Bharat Versus India
India that is Bharat
Is not same as
Bharat that is India.
Bharat no more with India
India no more with Bharat
India can not substitute Bharat.
I am insearch of Bharat
And Bharat is no more with me.
I am an Indian
And I am proud to be an Indian.
Alas!

United, we stand t
Sachin blasts; the crowd applauds.
A gold for shooting; we’re proud.
A.R.Rahman makes us bask.
India grows; so do Indians.
All these things are happening
Cutting across barriers
Of regions and religions,
With caste and creed buried.
Which has made it possible?
The Republic of India
And we as its citizens:
The identity connecting.
India must be there; guard it.
India must progress; serve it.
Be Indian and buy Indian.
Stand for and by Indians.
Divided by jealousy,
Exploited by betrayal,
India yielded to invasions.
The history must not repeat.
Identity as Indian must stand
Before any kind of identity.
Be there concern for fellow Indians.
Divided we fall; united we stand.
Janganmana binds us
As our National Anthem.
Let us sing it with the same spirit
With which our grandparents sang.

60th Republic Day Celebrations in India
I’m proud to be Indian;
I love my motherland;
I breathe air that is free
and till the soil, my land!
I hoist the tricolor,
atop the mast so tall –
a beauty Indians all
can watch with pride and awe!
I think about the past –
the lives that had been lost;
The blood for freedom shed,
and freedom-fighters dead!
My India looks so great,
for sixty years till date;
How Gandhi changed our fate
is told by India Gate!
The freedom I enjoy
since when I was a boy,
got by sacrifice, toil,
and burning mid-night oil!
This heritage of mine
has always been so fine;
So is the warm sunshine,
surrounding clear blue brine.
Let Indians maintain peace;
Let global wars all cease;
Let mounting tensions ease;
Let cures come for disease.
Let’s make our India proud;
Let brethren all feel loved;
Let’s unite against foes
that cause our daily woes!
May God bless India
o’er years that lie ahead!
May Indian keep his head
high and work hard instead!

Mahatma Gandhi
A great person of peace,
Who to all wars called a cease,
And who prevented bloodshed,
And who India to freedom led.
A lawyer who was in Africa,
And who racial discrimination saw,
He solved the problem there,
And then, he, Indian problems laid bare.
He fought using non-violence,
In senseless people he put sense,
He led India to greatness,
And he India thus did bless.
He pushed the British out of our land,
To the ordinary people he lent a hand,
A greater person never did walk this earth,
To a greater person never did India give birth.
A great solver of problems he was,
He was never at a loss,
To give an answer to problematic questions,
He was the only one to say no to guns.

When we first sold the Wallace and Gromit shorts to America, people suggested we get rid of the strange British accents and put clear American voices on them, and we held out.
Indian Nations
There is something that I can not see
Why the UNITED STATES has broken
So many AMERICAN INDIAN treaties?
We should put our heads down in shame
For the AMERICAN INDIANS are
Not the ones to blame.
They have been fighting so long for their rights
And have made the ultimate sacrifice.
They have given their lives for this nation
And still do not see their salvation.
All other ethnic groups have
become free from oppression
And their Indian rights have been
left to the u.s. discretion.
Why are they still classified as wards
Of the government, and their lives
Are still below the poverty line?
Isn’t this the biggest sign!
That they are still discriminated against.
They live in one room houses and shacks
And the government has turned their backs.
No running water and no electricity.
Is this the way it’s got to be?
A family of four or more
Sleeping on a dirty floor.
They were once known as the Indian nations
Now it’s total devastation.
People all over the world have heard
How the west was won
That it was with the almighty gun.
They just hear the one sided story
Of how Custer rode to glory.
But not the sufferings that they
Put the Indians through
And all they had to endure.
And suffer the humiliation of defeat
And dropp down and scrounge for meat.

Think Back, O Indian!
O Indian, O Indian!
Why not you think awhile?
How came your freedom?
How came this soil?
How came your brothers?
Why do you toil?
What’s your heritage?
What’s your love?
What’s your advantage?
Just think it now.
O Indian, O Indian!
Why don’t you muse awhile?
What makes up India?
What are its states?
What are its rivers?
Who are your mates?
Whose blood in you flows?
Who are your neighbors?
Why fight with brothers?
Just think it now.
O Indian, O Indian!
Why not you brood awhile?
What are your dangers?
What integrates?
What are your misgivings?
How do you solve?
Where’s your heart now?
Where is your soul?
Where’s your peace of mind?
Just think it now.
