Seeing the rebirth of the Delaware Estuary as a valuable natural resource is certainly encouraging, and I am encouraged not just by the progress made in the Delaware Estuary but in estuaries throughout the country.

Little Island
LITTLE ISLAND
Randy Newman
In two long wars, my country bled
To save the world for everyone
As through the years, the fight we've led
Too long, we stood alone, too long alone
And when at last, the battle won
We asked for no reward
An empire gone
Two generations turned to blood and dust
Only the best were lost
Only the best
And now the years have passed
The times have changed
The foe is risen up
He stands astride the world
His dreams of conquest all fulfilled
Little island, little island
Glory lost in the mists of time
They will pay for what was done
To those of us who died so young
They will pay for what was done
Little island, little island
Little island

Im On An Island
Im on an island
And Ive got no where to swim
Oh what a mood I am in
Im on an island
Im on an island
Since my girl left me behind
She said that Im not her kind
Im on an island
But there is no where else on earth Id rather be
Then if my long, lost little girl was here with me
Im on an island
And Ive got no where to run
Because Im the only one
Whos on the island
But there is no where else on earth Id rather be
Then if my long, lost little girl was here with me
Im on an island
And Ive got no where to run
Because Im the only one
Whos on this island
Im on an island
Im on an island

Shell on the shelf near my bed
Shell on the shelf near my bed
Take me back to memories box
Last summer on Virgin Island beach
Alone fighting words creating poem
She walks near me without sound
Holding shell in her hands
She comes forward to me
Look at me and smile
Long black hair like water fall
Beauty of Virgin Island
She put the shell on my ear
Sound of waves touching my soul
Hold her hand and start walking
Hand on hand, banded shadows
We walk long way
Ah memories
On other side of bed she lays beside me
Body on body, banded souls
Shell on the shelf near my bed
Take me back to memories box
Last summer on Virgin Island beach

Now that copyrights can be just about a century long, the inability to know what is protected and what is not protected becomes a huge and obvious burden on the creative process.

Rock Island
Savage night on a misty island. lights wink out in the
Canyon walls.
Two old boys in a stolen racer. black rubber contrails in
The unwashed halls.
And all roads out of here, seem to lead right back to the
Rock island.
Ive gone back to paris, london, and even riding on a
Jumbo to bombay.
The long haul back holds faint attraction, but the people
Here know theyre o.k.
See the girl following the red balloon: walking all alone
On her rock island.
Doesnt everyone have their own rock island? their own little
Patch of sand?
Where the slow waves crawl and your angels fall and you find
You can hardly stand.
And just as youre drowning, well, the tide goes down.
And youre back on your rock island.
Hey there girlie with the torn dress, shaking: who was it
Touched you? who was it ruined your day?
Whose footprint calling card? and what they want, stepping
On your beach anyway?
Ill be your life raft out of here, but youd only drift right
Back to your rock island.
Hey, boy with the personal stereo: nothing 'tween the ears
But that hard rock sound.
Playing to your empty room, empty guitar tune, no use waiting
For that c.b.s. to come around.
'cos all roads out of here, seem to lead right back to your
Rock island.

With Whitney she has such a unique sound and powerful instrument that she made those songs her own. She might as well have written them because she brought such a power and passion to them that were very unique. She has a great gift.

Island Girl
Ray oh ah ha
Ray oh ah ha
Radio ah ha
You know
Ray oh ah ha
Radio ah
I'm gonna make her mine
Bom bom bom ba ba bom bom bom bom
I went to trinidad i didn't
Know just what i had 'til i
Found her
She wears a pretty smile
That compliments her shapely
Style and i found her
Island girl she's oh so pretty
Island girl i like her plenty
Island girl i'm gonna make her mine
Island girl she makes me happy
Island girl she kinda sassy
Island girl i'm gonna make her mine
Everybody's got an island fantasy
For me it's like a caribbean odyssey
All the people live and love there by the sea
Near the sparkling wather 'neath the coco-palm tree
Island girl she make me happy
Island girl she kinda sassy
Island girl won't you show me the way
She's fine so fine all mine
She's so good to me
And i know (i know) our love (or love) so free (so free)
That it was meant to be
Island girl she make me happy
Island girl she kinda sassy
Island girl won't you show me the way
She's a real beauty from the caribbean
Long dark hair flowin' in the breeze
She's the kinda beauty makes you come alive and
We can live together for eternity
Every now and then i get this silly grin
When i'm there in her company
She says i'm crazy that i'm also very lazy
I know she loves me
Island girl she make me happy
Island girl she kinda sassy
Island girl won't you show me the way
Island girl won't you show me the way
Island girl won't you show me the way

Just To Let You Know
i am in an island
and i am in the middle of a struggle
the sound of the wind is not a song
for it is weeping
the sea has become a big mystery
the clouds as usual drift and unconcerned
the sun this morning comes
bringing me the sad news of a destruction
i sit upon the silence of the sands
figuring out the shape of a boat that must soon
take me away from here
out there there must be another island
where i can escape away from you

My Heart is Full
My heart is full.
It has drowned in the despair.
My eyes leak what is left over of my heart’s tears.
The endless river flowing under my skin
Pulsing with life yet not quite alive
The seed that has been protected, is slowly being put out.
Being sucked along in this flood that comes from the pain the heart bleeds.
Will my heart die?
Can it survive, this island of despair?
As my spirit lies crumpled on the floor of this collapsing island
Hateful words swimming around like sharks in a pool of innocent blood, my blood.
Will my mind be able to reach the spirit in time?
To pull it up and lock it away till the time is better?
What will happen?
I’m anxious to know
The island can hardly hold the limp body
The body that does not want to live
Yet is afraid to die
What will happen?
I’m anxious to know

The Island Of Love (Love Ballad) :
The ferry crossed the water.
The ferry crossed the sea.
The ferry crossed to the island.
To the island, the island of love.
On the island of love.
There are songbirds above.
On the island of love.
They sing their song.
They sing a song that songbirds sing.
On the island, the island of love.
The ferry crossed the water.
The ferry crossed the sea.
The ferry crossed to the island.
To the island, the island of love.
On the island of love.
There are lovers ashore.
On the island of love.
There's love at your door.
There's love on the shore.
There are songbirds above.
On the island, the island of love.
So much love in the air.
So much love everywhere.
Love might knock at your door.
You might come ashore.
To the island, the island of love.
You might stay on the island of love..

List Of Things You Want
You want to be treated fairly.
You want to be treated right.
You want to be treated with respect.
And your dignity protected day and night.
What makes your needs any different than mine?
And why should I treat you more thoughtfully,
Than you have treated me?
And you taught me the many faces,
Of mental and physical abuse.
With declarations to make me feel,
Unqualified to be near a gutter.
And you want what?
From me?
To prove to you I can be humane?
I know I did not hear you say that?
And you called me a heathen too?
Heathens do not give the shirts off their backs.
You want to be treated fairly.
You want to be treated right.
You want to be treated with respect.
And your dignity protected day and night.
And...
May I add,
An all expense paid trip to Fantasy Island.
Hosted by the best psychiatrist available.
With a need to stay.
Put that on your list of things you want.
To have us both hope that happens.
And not soon enough.

Long live the new flesh!
Where evil dwells
Northport, l.i.
Mutilation murder
Grisly sacrificial slaughter
Knights of the black circle
Stabbed him in the woods
At the sound of crow-call (croak-all)
He said, "i love thee, satan" (satin)
Half burnt body found
Buried in a shallow grave
Stabbed him in the throat
Stab!
Kasso killer... long live the new flesh
Where evil dwells
Northport, long island
Mutilation moider
Grisly sacrificial slaughter
Forsake your homosexuality
Half burnt body found
Kasso killer... long live the new flesh, kasso killer... long live the new flesh
Kasso killer... long live the new flesh, kasso killer... long live the new flesh
Where evil dwells
Northport long island
Half burnt body found
Naked in a leather mask
Mutilation murder
Kasso killer... long live the new flesh, kasso killer... long live the new flesh
Kasso killer... long live the new flesh, kasso killer... long live the new flesh
Long live the new flesh... long live the new flesh
Long live the new flesh... long live the new flesh
Long live the new flesh... long live the new flesh
Long live the new flesh... long live the new flesh
Long live the new flesh... long live the new flesh

Traffic Island Cop
Just one wave of his hands
The long lines of vehicles stop
Sun burnt rain drenched
Emotionless he stands
The traffic island cop!
You curse him if the wait is long
He’s just a faceless object
Like a post stands erect
In a fast lane his whistle blows
The traffic slows….
He has home, a wife
Away from traffic a life
A face without uniform
A corner to keep him warm
A vastly different island
Where he hates to command
And hopes no whistle brings to stop
The happiness of a traffic island cop!

There's a real purity in New Zealand that doesn't exist in the states. It's actually not an easy thing to find in our world anymore. It's a unique place because it is so far away from the rest of the world. There is a sense of isolation and also being protected.
