During the first six years of my life, Hungary was one of the most important components of the Habsburg dynasty's vast Austro-Hungarian Empire, but after World War I it became an independent national entity.

All Through The Day At My Machine
All through the day at my machine
There still keeps going
A strange little tune through heart and head
As I sit sewing:
'There is a child in Hungary,
A child I love in Hungary'
The words come flowing.
When I am walking home at night
That song comes after,
And under the trees in holiday time
Or hearing laughter:
'I have a son in Hungary,
My little son in Hungary'
Comes following after.

I grew up between the two world wars and received a rather solid general education, the kind middle class children enjoyed in a country whose educational system had its roots dating back to the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.

Hungary is, in a word, in a state of WAR against the Hapsburg dynasty, a war of legitimate defence, by which alone it can ever regain independence and freedom.

You look at the world around you, and you take it apart into all its components. Then you take some of those components, throw them away, and plug in different ones, start it up and see what happens.

Vast Empire And Fallen Throne.
A vast empire surrounds us
But we stand with the fallen throne and
Confounded and crestfallen we are.
Our empire of amasses; not of accumulations!
Our empire of ownership; not of master-hood!
Our empire of intelligence; not of erudition!
The throne lies down with its jewels gone,
It lies at our feet and none can pick it up.
We feel on our skull the shame of past.
Our throne of civilisation; not of progress!
Our throne of peace; not of harmony!
Our throne of diamonds; not of copper
The empire will swell and explode next
And our throne will lie buried ever.
The empire will thereafter turn into a planet of its own
And go on the orbit of might and moss and
Our throne will join the fossils down deep!
The ides of the present remain told aloud!

We..
No one released us,
From the custodian,
Monarch thousands miles away,
We had the tea party at Boston,
And become Independent.
At the same time,
East India Entity,
Entered other territory,
Doing spice and weeds,
We became the subjects.
We, the human,
Have drafted our first constitution,
On the banks of Thames,
Then declared ourselves independent,
In the far away continent,
Across the Pacific Ocean
in the New World,
in American spirit.
We had gone through the rough seas,
Leaving our loved ones in Europe,
We have huge land,
With less population,
Why we go other places,
To do our business and the wars.
When we have the fire in our hearts,
We think rationally with passion.
When our needs are fulfilled,
We think selfishly without concern.
Let us share the world equally,
And live our life happily.
Innovative and democratic
Nature of Europeans,
Hard working, enterprising,
Culture of North Asians,
The energetic spirit of
South Asian, middle Eastern innocence,
Glorious African humility,
We, the human, yet to mature,
We are still the children.

Villanelle on Depression
Depression is a fact of life for me.
As much a part of life as food and air,
It hovers like a dreaded entity.
It scatters joys like useless stale debris,
And sews the ashes of my dreams in gloom.
Depression is a fact of life for me.
It poises like a shadowing banshee
With somber wings just waiting to enshroud.
It hovers like a dreaded entity,
And I can almost always guarantee
Secreted in my spectral holidays
Depression is a fact of life for me.
My life becomes a frequent abductee
Purloined by mirthless bird of prey
It hovers like a dreaded entity..
A vulture pouncing when my back is turned,
But hidden, and not easily discerned.
Depression is a fact of life for me
It hovers like a dreaded entity.

Life Is Vast
The vastness of life improves when you submerge,
Into the oceans of brilliance is the cure of illness.
Future has feuds of finesse, submerging like clouds,
Offending the general sky, as if the world mattered.
The fuel of fire is vast, so very vast so that we beg,
The fires are out and they are pushed out to the void.
A void is a vacuum too bigger than the world
Or any black hole, or any night-object.
The world is far away in a place too darker,
Darkness was vast for life, vaster than the mind.

Making every planet an earth
the wish to be a poet
in Tang Dynasty China
who had written
'1500 years from now
you can have the
literature of the world
at your fingertip the
size of a jade pendant'
the wish to be a poet
2000 years from now
who would write
'the wish to be a poet
of the year 2000 who
had written '2000 years from now
you can make an earth out
of every planet in the solar system'.

Victoria
White Star of Womanhood, whose rays
Thro’ years of peace and years of stress
Shed wide o’er all thy people’s ways
The light of nobleness—
A memory in their hearts impearled
To nerve thy sons where’er they roam—
Empress and Queen o’er half a World,
Yet Angel of the Home.
Now, when the Shadow of Death has crost
The belt of Empire, sea by sea,
The wide world weeps that freedom lost
A friend like thee,
Who strove for righteousness, who wore
A hero’s soul in woman’s breast:
God fold thee, now thy work is o’er,
In robes of rest.
Death came not to thy fearless eyes
A King of Terrors, but a friend,
Whispering: “Long years of sacrifice
At last shall end.
Sleep, for the stress of Life is o’er,
And on thy heart is laid release;
Lay down the Crown of Empire for
The Crown of Peace.”

Our Blueprint
Compulsory voting or fifty-dollar fine at tax time,
Shows that this important national issue is not five-and-dime,
And those who refuse to vote or pay, get ten days in jail,
No house arrest allowed, no legal aid, no caution and no bail.
Binding referendums for all Canadians on national options,
Before these options turn into major national problems,
How each politician votes on any issue should be published,
And not carefully moved around and hidden from the public.
Set-date elections every three years and constituents allowed recall,
Death with dignity allowed and no one or group, can forestall,
The Supreme Court, Governor Generals and parole boards elected,
So that defects in our systems can be finally corrected.

Holy League waited too long perhaps?
Who failed to assemble which powerful allies?
Holy Roman Empire their truce with Istanbul kept?
France honoured anti-Spanish alliance with Ottomans?
Mighty Portugal could spare no forces;
in ongoing maritime confrontations...

in both the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean;
proud Portugal had Reconquista fought...
539 years its Moroccan campaign now fights.
