A work-room should be like an old shoe; no matter how shabby, it's better than a new one.

Shabby Doll

Giving you more of what for
Always worked for me before
Now Im a shabby doll
Whats going on behind the green elevator door
With just a shabby doll
Theres a hit man facing
A compromising situation
With just a shabby doll
And a very neat line in character assassination
Shes just a shabby doll
Shes just a shabby doll
Shes putting him off and putting you on
Shes just the shabby doll
Youre swearing upon you know in your heart
Shes gone you know in your heart
Shes just a shabby doll
Theres a girl in this dress
Theres always a girl in distress
Shes just a shabby doll
Shes so sure shes self-possessed
Then again shes half undressed
Shes just a shabby doll
The boy that I used to be
Showed no sign of sympathy
For just a shabby doll
I have betrayed you and me
And paid for my own bribery
With just a shabby doll
(chorus)
Hes the tired toy that everyone enjoyed
He wants to be a fancy man but hes nothing but a nancy boy
Hes all pride and no joy
And being what you might call a whore
Always worked for me before
Now Im a shabby doll
Untie the gag the cats out of the bag
But wont show his claws
Hes just a shabby doll
She said you must be joking
Some things are left unspoken
Youre just a shabby doll
Hes lying limp and soaking
He was openly broken
By just a shabby doll
(chorus)

Shoe Laces

Shoe laces
Shoe laces
Don't come undone
Don't untie and stop all my fun.

I'm running with friends in this game of tag
To come undone would be such a drag.

Shoe laces
Shoe laces
Don't come undone
Don't untie and stop all my fun.

Trip me you'll do and skin my knee too
People will laugh and call me a foo.

Shoe laces
Shoe laces
Don't come undone
Don't untie and stop all my fun.

Look oh no you’re out of the knot
Unraveling and flaring, about to be caught
Under my foot as I step down
God oh no I'm falling...The ground!
Boom I hit and what do you know
My Knee is bleeding just like I told
People are laughing and pointing and staring
Why oh why did my shoe laces fail me?

Shoe laces
Shoe laces
Did come undone
Did untie and stop all my fun…

I like Cinderella, I really do. She has a good work ethic. I appreciate a good, hard-working gal. And she likes shoes. The fairy tale is all about the shoe at the end, and I'm a big shoe girl.

Payment

A tortuous path of neurons arced a call: ‘Awake! ’
I did; in rising, peering, stretching, bearing,
Pained anticipation saw it all:
Foretold, another filthy day.

I drew the drape: diluvian lay the ground
Beneath a lazy leaden cloud – apissing out
The puddles; irksome on the roof –
The drumming drops of bitter glee
Were hounding out a hapless me –
Reinforcing doubt that I am sound.

I left the house
to go to work
to earn a crust
without a perk
then on to bust
another straining vessel.

Trudging on thro’ mud and clay, I pondered:
‘Why a drought of happy times?
Auspicious climes were
Old and fusty books
Atop a dusty shelf
Inside a morgue-of-a-room,
Somewhere in a long-forgotten library
Down a lane without a way.’

I thought again: ‘And still I pay.’

Prospects

A train ride to tuesday
A platform far away
Scarlet shades of evening move clouds of grey
Awaking, arriving
The dirty station where
He passes crowds of people who dont see him there
Heres a desert island room
For a man whos cast away
Stranded in this home from home
>from his family
Far away
Home.
Well this is it
This is it
Is this my heart
I miss you with all my heart
This is not
Is this not
My home
One shoe-lace cardboard suitcase
One passport from the queen
One room for a light bulb
Where no-ones been
Sticks and stones, my old bones
Not like nineteen fifty-four
Then the liked me fine
But not anymore
This empty room
Where hes marooned
With nothing left to say
But in the dark
He thinks of home far away
Home.
Well this is it
This is it
Is this my heart
I miss you with all my heart
This is not
Is this not
My home
I feel cold, getting old
More than the climates changed
Stranded on this island
The rate of exchange
Heres a desert island room
For a man whos cast-away
Today he will not be at work
There is no work anyway
How is it when you feel it
Do you wonder what gets you down
Youre looking in the windows
When you walk this town

No Matter

No matter what your resume might say
No matter your belief or to what GOD you pray
No matter the languages that you might speak
No matter the lessons that you might teach.
No matter the words that you might use
No matter your occupation or the work you do
No matter the schooling or the degrees you have
No matter the pot holes that's in your path.
No matter the places that you had lived
No matter the gifts that you did give
No matter your wealth whether your rich or poor
No matter if you speak quietly or speak with a roar.
No matter the clothes that you wear
No matter the color or the length of your hair
All that matters is your actions and your deeds
As they speak louder, and to them, man will heed.

They are Westerners

Have you seen else where a denim man with gaucho in hand,
Handling a huge horse with just a star in the shoe,
Boot that commands the land, hand that hints a man is coming,
Eyes that is deep as the Appalachian Mountains.

Whenever I look at them
With their eyes floating like rivers to all sides,
Guns the only thing to protect them from wild,
And their wind talker horse who guide them to the safety.

Those rolled tobacco in their mouth and few dollars to pay for all,
The puff when it rolls and the sea of alcohol it gets enforce,
Those shabby jackets, lands in a seat and the shirt collars which kisses the heat,
Dusts are coming from their body which shows how much work they are meant for.

They do not know what the fear is,
They even do not know what begging is,
They know only to work and earn,
Field their land with stables and graze all the horses and buffaloes.

They are stronger than a Spanish bull,
So they enjoy commanding horse and bull,
Their style is the venture for,
These are the man to whom every one looks up and say westerners.

A Pebble In My Shoe

a pebble in my shoe
i want it removed

a pebble in my shoe
a disturbance
in my mind

a pebble in my shoe
an enemy
in my feet

yet wait
let me recall
a grain of sand
inside the clam

a pearl
in my hand

once a pebble
in my shoe

let me walk again
let me remember

the pearl
in the clam

You want to fall in love with a shoe, go ahead. A shoe can't love you back, but, on the other hand, a shoe can't hurt you too deeply either. And there are so many nice-looking shoes.

Hotel Room Meditation

Because of some trick
Involving double mirrors
I could see my own ass
In the hotel room this morning

It did not look too shabby
I thought that you could love me
But you were very busy
Looking out at Lake Geneva

Show Humility

It is a matter of choice! !
But, choose wisely;
It is a matter of love,
But, love peacefully;
It is a matter of of care,
But, show kindness;
it is a matter of joy!
But, show humility;
It is a matter of work;
But, be very patience;
It is a matter of time! !
So, don't give up on your dreams.

The Shoe Lace

It goes over and under
Still you barely ever wonder
Just how it may tie your shoes
Without them your shoes may die
You can say it do not matter
The fact of the matter
Is that they may be little and small
But they keep your shoes together after all
The lace is a luxury to society
And never get a hint of reality
When stuff hits the fan
And they aren't there for you to stand
on
Off goes one shoe
Now another
That makes two
So just think what will you do
If your laces weren't in your shoes

LX. Life compared to a Walk

As the shoe's made to serve and fit the foot,
As the leg gives the measure to the boot;
So our possessions should be measur'd by
The body's use, and its necessity.
If here you stop, content with what you need,
With what will keep you warm, your body feed;
Within the bounds of temperance you live.
But if the reins you to your wishes give;
If nature's limits you but once transgress,
You tumble headlong down a precipice
Into a boundless gulph: this we may see
If we pursue our former simile:
For lets suppose your shoe made tight and fit,
Strong, warm, and easy, as 'tis requisite,
What more can be desired from a shoe?
'Tis all that hide, or thread, and wax can do.
But if you look for more, you're hurry'd on
Beyond your bounds, and then 'tis ten to one,
That it must be more modish, pink'd, and wrought,
Then set with pearls, from farthest Indies brought,
Then with embroidery and purple shine;
No matter if 'tis useless, so 'tis fine.
So there's no farther stay, no farther bound
By those, who exceed just measures, to be found.

Four Letter 'Work' Song

Work me up, work me out, work me flip side down.
Work me here, work me there, work me with renown.
Work me hot, work me greedy,
work me through and through.
Work me to the very marrow,
work me just like I'd work you.
Work me proud, work me late,
work me do not hesitate.
Won't you let me work for you?
Work me til I'm black and blue.
Work me steady, work me needy, work me to a lather.
Work me til my backbone breaks, and the buzzards gather.
Work me in, work me under, work me til I bleed,
Work me over red hot coals, work me like a boss in need.
Work me nasty, work me silly, work me through the clover.
Up down, 'n' in between, into a slipknot sweet Jehovah.
Work me, work me, go ahead.
Work me, work me, til I'm dead.

But the question is a matter of the survival and the teaching. That's what our work comes down to. No matter where we key into it, it's the same work, just different pieces of ourselves doing it.
