I fell through a crack for years. Historically, I am a nothing because I fit in no category. I can only be me.

Crack At Your Love
Ive been keepin my eyes on you
I finally found the nerve to talk to you
Theres something that you ought to know
Dont you know that I love you so
Our life together could be eternal bliss
If we could just get close enough to kiss
And ya know Id like to get a crack at your love
Crack at your love
Crack at your love
You make me feel so warm inside
A sense of humor you cant hide
Who taught you darlin how to move that way?
And when you smile I know the worlds okay
And when I see the twinkle in your eye
It sends my heart all the way to the sky
And ya know Id like to get a crack at your love
Crack at your love
Crack at your love
Lonely nights, lonely days
Lonely nights, lonely days
Im reachin out for you
In my mind, in my mind
Im goin crazy
Would ya be my baby
Im gonna need a little help from above
Would ya say no if I asked for your love?
I cant afford to get hurt again
Like the time I remember when
But I know Id like to get a crack at your
And ya know Id like to get a crack at your
Dont ya know Id like to get a crack at your love
Crack at your love
Crack at your love
Crack at your love
Crack at your love
Crack at your love
Crack at your love
Crack at your love

One of the sad commentaries on the way women are viewed in our society is that we have to fit one category. I have never felt that I had to be in one category.

Equally Worshipped
An ignorance historically condoned,
Has opposition if protested.
It is like taking crack from an addict.
Or suddenly professing their ill affects!
And these addictions are best left alone.
Especially in places,
Where religion 'and' hypocrisy...
Are equally worshipped!

When you've been driving in the top category for 10 years, you're obviously not a kid any more. You know, I'm married now and I've got two kids. That let's you know you're getting older.

I was also a big Woody Allen fan. When I got into college I listened to Lenny Bruce but it's taken me years to put him into context historically and really get what he did.

Crack Attack
You stand there, stutter, brains like butter,
You dissed your father, sister, your mother,
Times have tried too hard to your answer to give up instead of live up,
To the stance of a man, understand that Im a right hand,
Five out of five will die, from crack and on my left the birth the same and the same birth (? ),
The kid once did and now his death is echoed around the world for all to hear,
So lets have a merry new year
Yo grace, school em.
Theyre lost now, taken over, crack attack,
Theyre lost now, taken over, crack attack,
Theres a little boy who lives down the way,
I heard hes crazy from crack in his brain,
Hes lost now, hes taken over, crack attack,
Lost now, taken over, crack attack,
Dont do it,cheap high, say no! (echoes).
Though I wonder who is to blame,
All this epidemic is driving me insane, all of it,
I see the kids dying in the streets,
Whoever makes one, theyre going lose his way,
Lost know, taken over, crack attack,
Theyre lost now, taken over, crack attack.
Stuck in the middle, and dont know where to go,
Theyve got so now, theyre living for the blow,
They get it babe, doing it for the thrill,
Its so insane, such danger for a thrill,
Lost now, theyre taken over, crack attack,
Dont do it, cheap high, break the tie.
You can turn it over, you can take control,
You want your mind, your body and soul,
Dont you let crack put you in a hole,
Youve done without and you can do it now.
Said crack attack, crack attack, crack attack,
Dont do it, say no!, give it up,
Lost now, lost now...lost now, taken over crack attack, crack attack,
Taken over, crack attack, crack attack,
Lost now...give it up, give it up, taken over.

Sob Story
Give me your poor.
Give me your self righteous.
Give me your...
'The poor?
Self righteous?
I've never known the poor to be self righteous.'
There has been a new category added,
To include those now claiming...
To be amongst those the most in need.
'I see.
So does that mean,
The ones historically disadvantaged...
Are pushed even further back,
On your list of priorities? '
Hey,
Whatever works.
And they have promised to deliver us 'perks'
IF and WHEN the current crisis turns around.
'I see.
So...
You are getting paid for your deeds,
To announce their current dilemma? '
Yes.
A fool I am not.
I've got empty pockets I wish to see filled too.
Give me your poor.
Give me your self righteous.
Give me your homeless and destitute.
Give me your most believed desperate situation.
Give me any sob story at all...
And I'll add your claims to my pity party list.
No one will be refused.
However...
Be creative in the telling of it.

Cracks
a crack on the wall
and a crack on the head
they are not the same
they can never be the same
a crack for evidence
a lapse of the proof
they are not the same
they can never be the same
the difference figures out
freedom and
death.

Not Just A Bad Review
We’d not have had a Tisha B’av or Holocaust
if they’d just given us a bad review,
but we’ve been killed by them, not just divorced:
that’s what we mean by “hard to be a Jew”.
The Arabs say we are the favorite folk
of which they wish to be entirely rid;
unfortunately this is not a joke:
it’s still true that it’s shver tsu sayn a yid.
Kenneth Turan, senior movie critic for the LA Times, addressing an audience at UCLA today, was asked whether he thought the role of Jews has historically been fairly represented in Hollywood movies. He replied that it was impossible to do so. “After all, ” he said, “historically Jews haven’t just got bad reviews. I wish that were all that they’ve received.”

If We Forget We Can Never Be Free
the porcelain
cup is
shattered
on the floor
beneath
your feet
we try to
put all the pieces
back
the cracks
are still there
like scars
i do not wish
to cover
them with
gold plaits
and
silver
coatings
let each crack
be a crack
upon itself
let each crack
mark a day upon
our souls
if we forget
we can never be free

Chief Motivator
Please...
Call me 'freak'.
Or something comparable...
That places me in that category.
I've grown accustomed to be considered 'weird'.
Since this has been the 'chief' motivator...
That has inspired with an energized indifference,
Propelling a compelling aspiration I have to succeed.
Please...
Call me 'freak'.
Or something comparable...
That places me in that category.
Your decision to decide to become politically correct,
Has had an adverse affect on my productive output.
Forget those suggestions from the rest!
Give me what I seek and need to feed!

Historically Speaking
Why am I 'not' making attempts,
To participate locally...
With my creative attributes?
Let's see.
How best can I respond to that?
I would love to!
However...
My ancestors used gaslamps,
And initiative to light their way!
I see no reason to follow in their footsteps.
Their activities have historically been implanted.
There is nothing they've done,
I wish to recreate.
Their sweat has brought me here to do my own thing.
And when 'my' reach is circumvented by my own folks,
Insisting I do a Step n' Fetchit...
To identify my loyalty to my ethnicness?
Well...
There is a misunderstanding going on.
Plus,
Identities are not as enriched as they should be.
And...
Historically speaking and from my perspective,
I wish I had another lifetime to give!
But I don't.
So I will not be retreading the traced steps,
Of those I know who have been trailblazers.
I have been blessed to do that on my own.
In my way.
And in my time!

The Big Jack
I know you and you know me
We met many years ago
In the halls ofe some ivy covered university
Where we both used to go
Now we stand outside the denmark hotel
With japanese men in ther business suits
Its midnight youre talking to some frenchman
About who does what to you know who
You want the big jack
You want the sky to crack
You want something thats goin? to give you
The big jack
You want the big jack
Hell we all want that
You want something thats goin? to give you
The big jack
You say you want to go somewhere
Where your ideals were much more than luxuries
And just like some great old painting
You set there so smug
Whith your hands between your knees
You want the big jack
You want the sky to crack
You want something thats goin? to give you
The big jack
You want the big jack
Hell we all want that
You want something thats goin? to give you a
Heart attack
So go back down to that missisippi town
Where you come from
Have a big time tonight
I can still see you in your fathers coat
On the delta shore
That he once owned
I want to be your fathers coat
I want you girl to matty me
I want the big jack
I want the sky to crack
I want something thats goin? to give me
The big jack
I want the big jack
Hell we all want that
I want something thats goin? to give me a
Heart attack
I want the big jack
Yeah we all want that
We want something thats going to give us the big jack
I want the big jack
I want the sky to crack
I want something thats going to give me the big jack

Dance! (Don't Think)
You got to break the back of the mould
You were made in it
Crack the shell, that's how it's got to be
Nothing for certain
Ain't no way of knowing
Only believe in things that you see
Flow with the river
Run with the tide
Mix with your brother
Because he's right by your side
Crack that mould
Little bitty chicken
You can't stay in there forever
Now there ain't such a thing as only
One kind of weather
You got to bend learn
Take the rough with the smooth
Understand everything
Crack that mould
And only then you'll be free
Pick up them shoes, go running down that road
You know that preconception is such a heavy load
You got to live love
Put down that written word
Crack that mould
And only then you'll be free

Here
NOW
runs like a crack
through the universe.
Through it
beings escape.
Between each step
Between each movement
Between each breath
Between each heartbeat
Between each living cell
Between each thought
Between each impulse
light shines.
Through the crack
that runs through
the universe now.
No-one who grasps after
even a speck of dust
can squeeze through this crack.
