Passion Play

Magdalene is trembling
Like a washing on a line
Trembling and gleaming
Never before was a man so kind
Never so redeeming
Enter the multitudes
In exxon blue
In radiation rose
Ecstasy
Now you tell me
Who you gonna get to do the dirty work
When all the slaves are free?
(who're you gonna get)
I am up a sycamore
Looking through the leaves
A sinner of some position
Who in the world can this heart healer be
This magical physician
Enter the multitudes
In exxon blue
In radiation rose
Misery
Now you tell me
Who you gonna get to do the dirty work
When all the slaves are free?
(who're you gonna get)
Enter the multitudes
The walking wounded
They come to this diver of the heart
Of the multitudes
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
Oh, climb down, climb down he says to me
From the middle of unrest
They think is light is squandered
But he sees a stray in the wilderness
And i see how far i've wandered
Enter the multitudes
In exxon blue
In radiation rose
Apathy
Now you tell me
Who you gonna get to do the dirty work
When all the slaves are free?
(who're you gonna get)
Enter the multitudes
The walking wounded
They come to this diver of the heart
Of the multitudes
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
Oh, all around the marketplace
The buzzing of the flies
The buzzing and the stinging
Divinely barren
And wickedly wise
The killer nails are ringing
Enter the multitudes
In exxon blue
In radiation rose
Tragedy
Now you tell me
Who you gonna get to do the dirty work
When all the slaves are free?
(who're you gonna get)

Can You Live As Fast As Me

I believe in the power of rocknroll
I believe that exxon can save my soul
They pull your strings,
You just dont know it
They pull mine too,
But I try not to show it
I dont know what to say
When you take your light away
I try to do my very best
And to disregard the rest
When you leave what can you do?
When you dream what do you see?
Im afraid its just too new
Can you live as fast as me?
I believe in the power of rocknroll
I believe that exxon can save my soul
They pull your strings,
You just dont know it
They pull mine too,
But I try not to show it
I got my baby on a chain
Because it helps to ease the pain
Occams razor cuts so deep
Its the one thing I can keep
When you leave what can you do?
When you dream what do you see?
Im afraid its just too new
Can you live as fast as me?
I believe in the power of rocknroll
I believe that exxon can save my soul
They pull your strings,

Held Up Without A Gun

I was out driving, just taking it slow
Looked at my tank it was reading low
Pulled in an exxon station out on highway one
Look out!
Help up without a gun
Help up without a gun
Help up without a gun
(some man) drew eight hundred dollars (doing off a
Squeeze)
Aint got nowhere to go and nothing to eat
(driving up so blow us) better sign here son
Watch out!
Help up without a gun
Help up without a gun
Now its a sin and it oughta be a crime
You know it happens buddy all the time
If I dont break the limit tryin to have a little fun
Help up without a gun

Song

It's not my fault!
It's not my fault!
that the seas are soiled
with offal and oil
It's not my fault!

It ain't my doin'!
It ain't my doin'!
that trees are stained
with acid rain-
It ain't my doin'!

I can't do nuthin'!
I can't do nuthin'
It's past the command
of any one man-
I can't do nuthin'!

I don't make the rules!
I don't make the rules!
Exxon does, dammit,
with help from the Senate-
I don't make the rules!

You can't walk to work!
You can't walk to work!
And there ain't no train
so who's to blame?
I can't walk to work!

Boycott

All that there is to boycott.
And with a doing of it too.
People for some reason.
Refuse to boycott against ignorance.
Or their acceptance of disrespect,
Not to mention a lack of discipline.
Many feel would intrude,
Upon their rights of entitlement.
But truth as it is spoken.
Offends those who defend,
An anxiousness to censor anything.
That hints to remove them from delusion.

It was in 1999

It was in 1989
when i start to love
pour all the love

on lovers
who were looking at me.

nothing seems
strange

and will change
me;

whether you change
or look for and exit
or a change.

i will

make you

crazy
without a major
or minor
change.

so take your whiskey,

your wine

Your Love Is So Hard

Date line: 1989
I thought I was your lover wild
But U treat me like a step-child
I waited by the telephone
I knew U weren't alone
U wait until it's Friday night
And U call me up and start a fight
Say U and me ain't workin' out
But U'll be free on Sunday, what's this all about?
I don't know, baby, who U think I am
I'm not your average every day simple Sam
I could have a dozen others if I choose
But no other mama will do
Your love is so hard
Your love, your love is so hard
Baby, I like it
I thought we were the perfect match
U were so fine, such a catch
Nights were nasty, days were hot
I gave it all and in return, dogged is what I got
I don't know, baby, who U think I am
I'm not your average every day simple Sam
I could have a dozen others if I choose
But no other mama will do
Your love is so hard
Your love, your love is so hard
Baby, I like it
Date line: 1989
Come here baby, it's time
Hey girl, U've been hurt before
Gimme a chance, don't slam the door
Brown lover, funky M
I come 2 play, not 2 swim
OK, roll over
(1989)
Don't be so hard
Sugar, U'd be missin' everything in life
Don't be so hard
Ooh baby, maybe U could be my wife
Now say it again... uh, hard
I don't know, baby, who U think I am (Believe me, U be)
I'm not your average everyday simple Sam (Uh, ooh, hard)
I could have a dozen others if I choose (Ooh baby)
No other mama will do
Your love is so hard
Your love, your love is so hard
Baby, I like it
Enough
Funky M
I don't know, baby, who U think I am
I'm not your average everyday simple Sam
I could have a dozen others if I choose (Date line: 1989)
No other mama will do (It's time)
Your love is so hard
Date line: 1989
(I don't, I don't know)
It's time U get enough
It's time U get, it's time U get, time U get, time U get enough
And U'll be beggin' "Please, don't be so hard"
(1989)
Your love is, your love is so hard (19.. 19.. 19..)
Your love is so hard (1989)
Please don't waste precious time (1989)
Your love, your love, your is so hard (19.. 19.. 19..)
Your love is so hard (1989)
Your love is so hard

Rape Of The Young

Hey mister exxon
Wont you have pity
Wont you have pity on the guiltless ones
Hey mister chrysler
Wont you think about it
Wont you think about it? judgment day has begun
What will become of tomorrows children
Who gives a damn for tomorrows children
Pay no mind, you just keep on takin
Keep on takin til theres nothing at all
Sit on your hands and dont say nothin
Cover your eyes, you wont see nothin
Cry for the innocent sent to war
(dont tell a soul)
Shed a tear for the ones waiting at the door
(theyll never know)
Its the last generation of a world gone blind
(you better watch your tongue)
Its the violation of the unborn child
Its the rape of the young
Hey mister general
Cant you find something
Cant you find something else to do for a buck
Hey mister president
Nobody listens
Nobody listens til weve run out of luck
Nobody cares for unborn troubles
Why should you care, its too much trouble
You got yours so it just dont bug ya
It just dont bug ya cause you wont be around

A myth about the origin of evil

And satan said:
‘Let there be a lie! ’
And there was a lie.
It hid in the stones
Sliding from above.

And satan said:
‘Let there be hypocrisy! ’
And there was hypocrisy.
It hid in the words
Waiting to speak up.
It covered itself with cobwebs
Spiders to feed.
It hid itself from itself.

And satan said:
‘Let there be poison! ’
And there was poison.
The devils waving their swords
Spilled it from a stormy breath.
It layered on the earth
To run with its currents.
It hid within the blood.

And satan said:
‘Let there be hatred! ’
And there was hatred.
It spilled all around
Like blood that cannot clot.
It walked in tigers’ paws
And hid itself in the end
Under the cold mossy north.

And satan said:
‘Let there be a human! ’
And there was a human.
He hid in the hypocrisy and lie
The poison of hatred fed him like milk.
A pirate wrapped in his sails.
And there was a human
In beasts he hid.

And satan said:
‘Let him think I am not! ’
But it was not the way he said.
There was a lie in the beginning of his word.

Allowed people and their selfish ambitions to corrupt me
Make me the victim of Deceit
Make me the object of wrath and violence
Why did you take him away…just when I needed him?
I was supposed to look back and laugh at my innocence
I look back in disgust
I come to You in brutal honesty
Blazing anger

A Linda Song

Music: Barry Manilow
Lyrics: Enoch Anderson
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He never wrote a song for Linda
He wrote as though he lived alone
He wrote of dreams that end
And of sad brave men
Inventing worlds he'd never known
But he never wrote a song for Linda
And she was right there all along
Loved him back to life
When his luck ran low
But he never wrote a Linda song
He nearly broke his heart at writing
Linda kept him from despair
Standin' by his side
through the hungry days
But he hardly seemed to see her there
And he never wrote a song for Linda
And she was right there all along
The one real thing in his crazy world
And he never wrote a Linda song.
When the bills piled up
He couldn't pay
He couldn't dream no more
So he hitched a ride and he rode away
And he left a note for Linda by the door
By the door
When times got rough he'd phone her
Once or twice she took the call
Then she changed her number and she turned her head
And Linda never looked back at all
He'll never write a song for Linda
And she was right there all along
All he knows is no one understands
And he never wrote a Linda song
No he never wrote a Linda song

No More

I wrote my name on the seashore
The waves came and it was no more
I wrote my name in the air
The wind came and it was no more
I wrote my name in the sky
The clouds came and it was no more
I wrote my name in the puddles
The sun came and it was no more
i wrote my name in the dust
The rain came and it was no more
One day Gabriel wrote my name
and alas! i was no more

Song of Diego Valdez

1902

The God of Fair Beginnings
Hath prospered here my hand --
The cargoes of my lading,
And the keels of my command.
For out of many ventures
That sailed with hope as high,
My own have made the better trade,
And Admiral am I.

To me my King's much honour,
To me my people's love --
To me the pride of Princes
And power all pride above;
To me the shouting cities,
To me the mob's refrain: --
'Who knows not noble Valdez
'Hath never heard of Spain.'

But I remember comrades --
Old playmates on new seas --
Whenas we traded orpiment
Among the savages --
A thousand leagues to south'ard
And thirty years removed --
They knew nor noble Valdez,
But me they knew and loved.

Then they that found good liquor,
They drank it not alone,
And they that found fair plunder,
They told us every one,
About our chosen islands
Or secret shoals between,
When, weary from far voyage,
We gathered to careen.

There burned our breaming-fagots
All pale along the shore:
There rose our worn pavilions --
A sail above an oar:
As flashed each yeaming anchor
Through mellow seas afire,
So swift our careless captains
Rowed each to his desire.

Where lay our loosened harness?
Where turned our naked feet?
Whose tavern 'mid the palm-trees?
What quenchings of what heat?
Oh, fountain in the desert!
Oh, cistern in the waste!
Oh, bread we ate in secret!
Oh, cup we spilled in haste!

The youth new-taught of longing,
The widow curbed and wan,
The goodwife proud at season,
And the maid aware of man --
All souls unslaked, consuming,
Defrauded in delays,
Desire not more their quittance
Than I those forfeit days!

I dreamed to wait my pleasure
Unchanged my spring would bide:
Wherefore, to wait my pleasure,
I put my spring aside
Till, first in face of Fortune,
And last in mazed disdain,
I made Diego Valdez
High Admiral of Spain.

Then walked no wind 'neath Heaven
Nor surge that did not aid --
I dared extreme occasion,
Nor ever one betrayed.
They wrought a deeper treason --
(Led seas that served my needs!)
They sold Diego Valdez
To bondage of great deeds.

The tempest flung me seaward,
And pinned and bade me hold
The course I might not alter --
And men esteemed me bold!
The calms embayed my quarry,
The fog-wreath sealed his eyes;
The dawn-wind brought my topsails --
And men esteemed me wise!

Yet, 'spite my tyrant triumphs,
Bewildered, dispossessed --
My dream held I beore me
My vision of my rest;
But, crowned by Fleet and People,
And bound by King and Pope --
Stands here Diego Valdez
To rob me of my hope.

No prayer of mine shall move him.
No word of his set free
The Lord of Sixty Pennants
And the Steward of the Sea.
His will can loose ten thousand
To seek their loves again --
But not Diego Valdez,
High Admiral of Spain.

There walks no wind 'neath Heaven
Nor wave that shall restore
The old careening riot
And the clamorous, crowded shore --
The fountain in the desert,
The cistern in the waste,
The bread we ate in secret,
The cup we spilled in haste.

Now call I to my Captains --
For council fly the sign --
Now leap their zealous galleys,
Twelve-oared, across the brine.
To me the straiter prison,
To me the heavier chain --
To me Diego Valdez,
High Admiral of Spain!

A.Y.M.

Generation X
We are complex
Angst is the perfect wave
Ride it and be well paid
It all sucks by the way
I wrote a new song today
So upset with all I have
And the world is such a drag
I've become my own cliche
I am an angry young man
I am an angry young man
A.Y.M. An Angry Man
Repeat the past
It's a gas, gas, gas
Make all the same mistakes
That all my heroes made
Pretend that I hate fame
How dare you misspell my name?!
Hurts so bad I have to fix
Apology read by some chick
Another million in the bag

I Was Prepared To Boycott Ignorance

I was prepared to boycott ignorance,
But decided against it.
If I made a poster and picketed with it...
Those who couldn't read...
Would not get incensed.

And the ones politically aware,
Might become offended...
As an attack upon their pretensions.
And some who knew exactly what I meant...
Would avoid me like I was diseased,
With a plague they would prefer not to share.
This awareness for them is best kept ignored.
Not made a public fanfare.

I was prepared to boycott ignorance,
But decided against it.
Too many would perceive me,
To be its advocate.
And more of it would be solicited.
