I don't even like firing people. I don't think I've ever said, 'You're fired' to anybody.

Lifecycle
People aren't born for what they do, but what their parents dream.
People don't grow for growing's sake, but for the future's gleam.
People don't live to one day die, they live to put off dying.
People don't work to build themselves, they work to stave off crying.
People aren't fired for what they say, they're fired for making war.
People don't die for what they believe, they die for who they are.

All Fired Up
A burst of speed is all I need
To set me free
A flagging start that stirs the heart
To ecstasy
Raging away I'll go far
Time waits for no man
So reach for the stars
I'm all fired up
A bolt of light that sears the night
Of things supreme
To chase the sun, forever on
And live the dream
Forcing a system aside
Too fast for this life
My mind's open wide
I'm fired up
All fired up
Fired Up
All fired up
I'm soaring, freefalling
With all emotions roaring
Like lighting, like thunder
I'll rip the world asunder
Let's go
Hold on
[Lead Break]
I'm soaring, freefalling
With all emotions roaring
Like lighting, like thunder
I'll rip the world asunder
Raging away I'll go far
Time waits for no man
So reach for the stars
I'm fired up
All fired up
Fired up
All fired up
Fired up

The Facts of Life
I have been hired
I have been fired
I have been rehired
I have been refired
I have been discriminated against
And I have learned a lot since
I have been loved
And shoved
Off the skate board
Thanks God, My Lord
Has been with me all along
That’s why I love to sing His song.
I have been wrong
And I have been right
Stay tight
I cannot be played like a ping pong
Ball
You have the gall
And I have the guts
To tell you that under my huts
I will not be defeated
I will fight until death
I am not conceded
‘Cause I have a lot of faith
Things will get better
And our world will be safer.
Keep on firing
Keep on humiliating
Lying, abusing
And discriminating
Your turn to be fired
Is just around the corner
You’ll be tired
Old and weaker
You’ll be fired from the face of the earth
You’ll have to leave everything behind
Your new rebirth
Will blow off your mind
You’ll know the true meaning of fired
And rehired.

The Skyline Riders
Against the light of a dawning white
My Skyline Riders stand—
There is trouble ahead for a dark year dead
And the selfish wrongs of a land;
There are hurrying feet of fools to repeat
The follies of Nineteen Eight,
But darkly still on each distant hill
My riders watch and wait.
My Skyline Riders are down and gone
As far as the eye can see,
And the horses stand in the shades of dawn
Where a single man holds three.
We feel the flush and we feel the thrill
Of the coming of Nineteen Nine,
For my Skyline Riders are over the hill
And into the firing line.
The skyline lifts while a storm-cloud lowers—
What’s that? A shot! All’s well!
There is news out there for this land of ours
That the tattling rifles tell.
A “thud” and a “thud” and a flash like blood!
There is light on the land at last!
Australian guns on the nearer hills
Are talking about the past.
O, a lonely place in the days gone by
Was the long first firing line,
Where we fought as strangers, you and I,
For the land that was yours and mine.
There was time to dream in the firing line,
There was time to starve and die,
When the only things in that world of mine
Were my Native Land and I.
O, a lonely place was the firing line
When the gaps were wide between—
Hundreds of miles, in this land of mine
And never a soldier seen.
The dying must die and the dead were left
Unmarked by the deadly tired—
When struck to the heart in a firing line
Where never a shot was fired.
O, a lonely place was the firing line
In the days of the dearth of men,
But hundreds and hundreds of soldiers’ sons
Have flocked to the line since then
We left it weak in the hour of pride,
When our rule seemed firmly set,
But danger threatened the firing line,
And there’s deadly danger yet.
Proud of virtue, and proud of sin,
Or proud ’neath a cruel wrong;
Proud in failure or proud to win—
Oh, the pride of man is strong!
Proud of gold or of being without
Or proud of women and wine—
But get you down from your horse of pride
And into the firing line.
Pride in poverty—all the same—
There’s work for all men to do,
With wrong to fight there is deathless fame
To win in a land so new.
Preacher and drunkard! and sportsman and bard!
In the dawning of Nineteen Nine—
Saints and sinners! ride hard! ride hard!
They are pressed in the Firing Line.

I have also been attacked by my opponents as someone seeking to purge university faculties of leftist professors. This is false. The first provision of the Academic Bill of Rights is that no professor should be hired or fired because of his or her political views. I have never myself called for the firing of any professor for his or her political views, nor would I.

90 days on the road is what i need
When my axe cuts me deep, i let it bleed
On the stage, off my strings, down my face
And all over me
Pumpin' up for the show
Feelin' like something's gonna blow
S'got me all fired up
Yes, i'm all fired up
Through the ice into the fire
Blowin' steam
North and south, east n'west, right n'left
I'm always extreme
Don't like the middle squeezing me
I don't like nothin' in between
Yes, i'm all fired up
Got me all fired up
When the rest have packed it up
I'm alive, i'm electric, inspired
I, i'm naturally wired
Wired, naturally wired
Wired, wired
I'm naturally wired
Naturally wired
Wired, naturally wired
Wired, naturally wired

Luck
he is in the middle of something
Painful
Choosing between slashing his wrist with a blade
Or firing a bullet in his head
In the middle ambiguities
he stopped
You called.
What if the blade slashed his wrist?
And blood squirted on the Floor like a basin of water
Like falling tears On his cheeks
What if the gun fired?
And his brain spills on his chest
What if you did not call?
It is the middle of pain It is the middle of confusing things
Sometimes, it is the middle That saves.
Luck.

Battle Of New Orleans
In 1814 we took a little trip,
Along with colonel jackson down the mighty mississip.
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans,
And we fought the bloody british in the town of new orleans.
We fired our guns and the british kept a comin,
There wasnt bout as many as there was awhile ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin
On down the mississippi to the gulf of mexico.
Oh we looked down the river and we seen the british come.
There must have been a hundred of em beatin on a drum.
They stepped so high and they made their bugles ring.
We stood behind our cotton bales and didnt say a thing.
Old hickory said we could take em by surprise,
If we didn¹t fire our muskets till we looked em in the eyes.
We held our fire till we seen their faces well,
Then we opened up our squirrel guns and gave em a little...well....we...
....fired our guns and the british kept a comin,
There wasnt bout as many as there was awhile ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin
On down the mississippi to the gulf of mexico.
We fired our cannons till the barrels melted down,
Then we grabbed an alligator and we fired another round.
We filled his head with cannonballs and powdered his behind,
And when we touched the powder off, the gator lost his mind.
We fired our guns and the british kept a comin,
There wasnt bout as many as there was awhile ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin
On down the mississippi to the gulf of mexico.
We fired our guns and the british kept a comin,
There wasnt bout as many as there was awhile ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin
On down the mississippi to the gulf of mexico.

Basically, Pizza Hut just backed out on the ad agency at the last minute. They got fired and we got fired. It was a simple as that. We do stuff like that on and off.
It was comical because you're at a firing range, all these people are so seriously shooting their little guns.

My Job
And...
What is it that you are doing?
'My job.'
Your job?
Staring at people?
'No.
You are to be corrected.
I am an admirer of exquisite beauty.
Why?
You don't think I am doing my job well? '
I just think what you are doing is rude.
'Then perhaps you should see to it,
That I get fired.
Or laid,
Off.
Or maybe both.
Send me to your human resources.
If you don't think I am qualified.'
Where on Earth did you come from?
'I feel the same way.'
I really didn't mean it as a question.
'Oh? '
No!
I meant it as a...
Don't you have something else to do?
'You're the boss.
What would you like for me to do for you next? '
You're not doing a thing for me.
'Oh?
So you are saying I'm not doing my job? '
You're doing your job.
But I am not interested.
'So...
You want to get me laid off,
Don't you?
Or fired...
Without benefits.'
In a few minutes I am going to switch from this,
And change my company!
'I see?
That's why so many of us are out of jobs right now.
You use us for what you can get from us...
And then you move!
Taking away with you all the benefits.
I will find another job!
But you?
You are definitely going to miss,
My capable abilities.

Volleys Of Shots Rang Out As We Stormed
Volleys of shots rang out as we stormed,
the trenches that were meandering formed,
in the distance snipers were firing from a wall
into the cover of the nearest ditch we did fall.
A trooper next to me suddenly smiled
and everywhere around us was death’s smell,
the winter sun was very weak but mild
while our ears sang from a mortar shell.
In succession into the trench we did leap,
I fired from the hip from the point of entry,
the light machinegun did chattering sweep
in a enemy camp in a bordering country
where as soldiers we had parachuted in
and a passing bullet burnt my arm’s skin.

A shot rang out like lightning out of a gun
Goodbye to the land where the sun always shine,
to the blue sky that always is bright,
goodbye to the light that comes every day
and hello to that midnight which is cold and dark.
A shot rang out like lightning out of a gun
fading the sun while white vapour rose
out of a shot out armoured car,
I couldn’t close my eyes or look away.
Goodbye to that enemy tank stopped in its tracks
against a bank of earth
while my armoured car’s gun rang out
sending a phosphorus shell with fire from hell.
A rocket flew past with a flaming tail
like a star falling from the sky
before exploding against a tree with a blast
and goodbye to the enemy soldiers who fired it
while we moved past at speed
with a machinegun howling a great cry.
I heard that enemy commander weeping over the radio
while his frequencies were blocked
being in shock
and sounding like the voices of many men
crying in the anguish of death
as if a deadly net had been cast
and I wish that I could understand Spanish
but the noise was ear-splitting
and it was goodbye to tank after tank
and goodbye with blast after blast and going in quick
stopping, firing and running away fast
and every enemy armoured car we found
only got one shot
till the last shell had being fired
and tired we went to fetch some more,
ate in a hurry before being wished good luck
and going back to war.
