Emily Mortimer

I was terribly shy when I was growing up, I really wasn't confident with other people and I think I was always afraid of up or not being this very cool, amazing person that I wanted to be.

A Wanted Person

You are a wanted person and,
You've stolen from many;
You are a wanted person and,
You thought you are rich from your theft.
The law is looking for you,
The people are tracking for you down,
But for how long will you hide from them?
A wanted person is what you are,
So try to sow a better seed than hate;
A wanted person is what you are,
So try to do the right thing than stealing;
One day the law will get to you.
You will be exposed one day,
You will be caught one day,
There and then you will know your mistakes;
A wanted person is what you are.
Like the nakedness of a chicken,
Likewise will your shame be;
You are a wanted person and,
The law is after you.

The Truth of Anger

Anger is what you have left when all fear is gone.
Anger is what defines us to others.
Someone who is always angry is a confident person.
That someone isn’t afraid of wrongdoing,
Isn’t afraid of getting in trouble,
Isn’t afraid of others thoughts or judgements.
But mostly isn’t afraid to tell the world what they really think.
And that someone is within us all...

Crushing On You

Every time I see you
You make me wish I can tell you that I like you, but
I can't because I'm afraid of rejection and
My heart will feel like a broken glass
You're cute, funny, amazing and cool
I can't get you out of my mind
You make me go crazy
I can't go a day without you

Every time I see you
You take my breath away
Now I told you that I like you because
I can't hide from you anymore, but
You say that you don't like me
You're great, nice, and awesome person
I rather just be alone
If I know I can't have you

Every time I see you
You make me go crazy
After I told you that I like you again
You say that I'm not your type
Now you break my heart even more and
You're everything I have picture
Why can't you just admit that you're holding back on yourself and you want me
You're afraid that you get made fun of and you need to learn to trust your heart

Every time I see you
You take my breath away
Now I told you that I like you because
I can't hide from you anymore, but
You say you don't like me
You're great, nice, and awesome person
I rather just be alone
If I know I can't have you

Every time I see you
You make me smile
Now we can never be together
I need to learn to accept your decision
I know it going to be hard to see you everyday
You're a cute, funny, and alright
Why can't I just get over you and
Move on to someone else

Every time I see you
I feel like I'm going to faith
I need to not have feelings for you anymore
I can still talk and laugh with you, but
I can't kept falling for you because it going to kept getting harder to get over you
You're an amazing, cool, and fun person
I finally realized it just a waste of time to get you to be with me
So I hope to find someone else one day and forget you
Crushing on you

Make It.

Why is it that I'm so
Afraid
That I won't make it.
Afraid that I won't make it
In school, I'm a 10th grader trying to make
It and I'm also afraid
That I won't.
Not Makin it is the worst feeling
A person like me could ever feel
I've accomplished all classroom
Goals, but I haven't accomplished the goal
Of time.
I tried but it was an epic fail and
It wasn't even my fault
And just knowing this hurts me to
My heart.
I don't know what to do anymore…..
Except cry until I cry blood
I've worked so hard to get to where
I'm at and I guess it wasn't enough for them, just for me.
Why is it that I'm so
Afraid
That I won't make it, afraid that I won't
Make it in school I'm a 10th grader trying to
Make it and I am also afraid that
I won't…..

Mirroring the shades of me

I look into the mirror and
Seeing not only a reflection of myself,
This world or the world daring me to enter
But the person I use to be
The one I'm afraid to be again
The person who would tear your heart apart
And not care
The person that didn't take her education seriously
The type of person that wanted to do
What she wanted to do

I see the person I am
Someone who helps you
No matter what
Even if I'm the one getting kicked
The senior in high school getting ready for graduation
Hovering over the next level of my life
But trying to find a way up out of the middle of the ocean
Everyone calls life in an education box
This is where I will discover
The mouse and tiger inside of me
Don't want to think of separating
Of being alone
And on my own

It's faded but there as I glance into the mirror
I see the person I will be
A person who helps other people
Discover that people with disabilities
Are not so different
I have found my way up the education latter
Helping people
Showing them there is someone that cares
And believes that they can do
Whatever they set their mind too

As if my mind was coming back to me
Out of a dream
My eyes cleared
As I realized I was just
Standing in front of a mirror
Thinking of that red cap and gown again

Be Afraid

be afraid of the things that you see
and does nothing for you
be afraid of those who appear like
the people that you meet
for they may not be the way they seem
to be
be afraid of those that shake your hands
for they may have other plans
be afraid when you do not fear
something so harmful maybe near
be afraid of almost everything &
when all the fear is spent when things are over
be strong and confident be another lover forever

someone to love me, because i'll love them.
a person,
real and in the flesh,
someone unlike anyone else.
all i ever wanted was some one cool,
to teach me things i never new...
is that person you?

how much will you be able to understand of me?
i may play it off as the girl just like you,
but, deep under i'm dealing with my own problems,
i use to be afriad to let them show,
only because i seen it as a weakness,
but not showing how you really feeling,
is your weakness,
you critize yourself for not being perfect,
when nobody in this world really is,
why not go your own way?
forget trying to be like the cool person in school,
they only cool cuz they went there own way,
they did what they like to do,
if we were all the same,
what would we ever learn?
we are different for a reason,
the people who can understand,
what it like to be different,
can see where i'm coming from,
we try our hardest to be something,
maybe it is me for not accepting what god given me,
but, now i see his purpose,
at first it seemed unfair,
to go through life being different from other children,
but, now i see, they don't have what i have,
there life has been pretty easy growing up,
they may only have to deal with kids problems,
but having to deal with adult like problems,
since i was 8, gets kind of tiring,
i had more responsibility that i wanted to.

Liars No More

I had a person once told me,
maybe 1 year ago times 3
“I don’t associate with people that lie”,
then turned around a year later or so deny-
What they were out for in their truck,
well I guess he can pass the buck.
Then there was a person who said
he would be a millionaire in a year,
he lives in a fantasy world, he wasn’t sincere.
Now people can lie because they are afraid,
people can lie because have something to hide,
whatever the reason you can never figure out why.
One day they maybe come truthful with you,
maybe become honest and give you some clues,
until then you and them are not true friends.

Death Of Samantha

Two, one, two, three, four.
People say i'm cool,
Ya', i'm a cool, chick baby.
Ev'ry day i thank god
That i'm such a cool, chick baby.
When i'm on the phone, i thank god,
My voice sounds smooth and clear without a trace of tear.
When i'm at work, i thank god,
I still have that smile ma used to say lit her day.
But something inside me, something inside me died that day.
People say i'm cool,
Ya', i'm a cool, chick baby.
Ev'ry day i thank god
That i'm such a cool, chick baby.
When i'm with people, i thank god,
I can talk hip when i'm crying inside.
When i'm with friends, i thank god,
I can light a cigarette when i'm choking inside.
People say i'm cool,
Ya', i'm a cool, chick baby.
Ev'ry day i thank god
That i'm such a cool, chick baby.
A friend lent me shades
So i could hide my eyes that day.
Was a snowy day,
The shades have seen a lot of things i didn't want to know myself.
Was like an accident, part of growing up,
People tell me.
But something inside me, something inside me died that day.
What do you do-oo? what can you do?
What do you do-oo? what can you do?
The world suddenly looks a strange place,
People seem talking in foreign words.
And something inside me, something inside me died that day.
What do you do-oo? what can you do?
What do you do-oo? what can you do?

What I Wanted To Say But Never Could

9-10-07
I’ve tried to tell you
I’ve tried to say it
Just never could find the words to
My words float off into the distance when I’m around you
All the cleaver, and intelligent things I want to say go out the window
When I’m around you with people around us
It seems I always choke on my words
Ya I know it’s kind of childish but I just cant help it
I just want to say so many things to you but I cant say them
I can’t tell you what I need to tell you in person so maybe
My poetry can say it for me

You’re a nice, kind, funny, respectable, and mature guy
Mature enough for me not to worry about you telling everyone
What I wanted to say but never could

There isn’t a day that I don’t think
I don’t wonder
What it’s like to be with you
What it’s like to be the girl with you
What it’s like to be in your arms
What it’s like to feel your kiss
What your hand feels like against my skin
There isn’t a week that doesn’t go by that I don’t kick my ass
For not telling you what it is that I want to tell you

If I tell you I’m afraid
Of you laughing in my face
Afraid of you saying I’m not good enough for you
I’m like dirt under your feet
Afraid of rejection
Afraid of no one loving me
Afraid of being alone
But what am I saying
After all it’s you I’m talking about here
Your nicer then that

So go a head if you want to
Break my heart
You wont see my tears
If that’s what you want
I’m a big girl
I can take it
Even if the answer is no
I’ll still say that your one of the three guy’s
Who I would ever even think about
Asking
Do you love me
I don’t think so but
Miracles can happen

I love you and would love to be your girlfriend
That is what I’ve wanted to say but never could

Man Said No!

I wanted to build myself a boat
Everyone said that it wouldn't float
As carpentry and boating I do not know
So man unto me, he said no.

I wanted to plant myself a flower
I was told I couldn't without knowledge or a power
I wasn't a gardener so plants I did not grow
So man unto me, he said no.

I wanted to learn myself how to fly
But I was told if I did I would die
In the air to the ground I would crash below
So man unto me, he said no.

I wanted to cook and to become a chef
But I was told that I wasn't mature enough
If I lit a match I would cause and inferno
So man unto me, he said no.

I wanted to learn to play and to enjoy music
But I wasn't allowed to listen to it
I wasn't taught to sing or to play the piano
So man unto me, he said no.

I wanted to learn how to ski
But to my idea everyone did disagree
Everyone knew I loved the cold and the snow
So man unto me, he said no.

I wanted to live my life the way I should
Do what I believed and understand what I could
To my want's and idea's to all I did confess
So man he said no; but GOD he said yes.

Afraid?

Too many people are afraid to speak.
Is it because they're too damned weak?
Afraid to stand out
afraid to shout
or just plain afraid and meek?

Too many people are afraid to yell.
Is it because they're afraid of hell?
Afraid of the crowd,
afraid to be loud
or just plain afraid of death's knell?

Too many people are afraid to hear.
Is it because of what they fear?
Afraid of the unknown,
afraid to be shown
or just plain afraid of what isn't clear?

Fear, fear
It is always here.
