Demon Cleaner Performed Live

I've got the demons within
I've got to brush them all away
I feel the demon's rage
I must clean them all away
Yeah, yeah...
Excite to scream them away
Cobwebs in the way
That magic cleaner oh
Shine his smile on me
Yeah, yeah...
I am the demon
Cleaner who saves the day
I get the backwall
And important they'll always stay
Yeah, yeah...
If only one thing that you know
Imposters from the show
They'll try to trick you into
Normal treatment
Oh don't you listen to them say
Shush them all away
I am the demon cleaner
Madman so
I am the freedom cleaner
Standing naked here to say
I'm the only way...

Dirty Fingernail

dirty dirty fingernails...
dirty dirty fingernails...
Out of the shower, on to the bathroom floor
Out in the kitchen, underneath the casserole
dirty dirty fingernails...
dirty dirty fingernails...
(It takes a lot of energy to make that sound)
Out of the shower, on to the bathroom floor
Out in the kitchen, underneath the casserole
Out on the patio, out in the great outdoors

Sons Snd Daughters Of My Country...

yes, they all come back,

sons and daughters of
my country
wherever they may have sailed
wherever they may have flown
to search
that greener pastures in their
minds,

after a while
on dreams fulfilled or
dreams that failed

they all come back
and repair what had been neglected
and put back what had been lost and broken

their children lost from the warmth of their love
soon shall find a home in the memory of their minds
their country destroyed
soon shall find the comfort back to their working hands

yes, they all come back
no matter what
this country is their home
the place where their dead hearts shall soon be entombed

To A Country Of Infinite Dawn

to a country of infinite dawn when everything you see is grey
when mist is the color of their day

sunshine becomes a luxury
the sun its God

and when they come to my tropical country where sunshine is everyday
they say

this is paradise, this is what i have been missing in my life
the beach, the green fields, the natural springs

these white old men, on retirement, on vacation to this counrtry
do not be fooled

when it gets dark, and when the neon lights start to glitter
they begin to ask some names: linda, rowena, baby, celestina

oh you know what i mean, they are looking for our women
cheaper and cleaner

and wait there is another, he is looking for the brown boys
the ever younger ones
even the uncircumcised

welcome to this paradise, this island of desire,
destroy this home

Life Here

He loves the rich and poor
In entire dreams of youth;
Plenty of hours are spent
In the latitudes of this country.

This country has colours of honour,
In its flag the strokes of essence
Can be conspicuous for the alert
And hard hearts of this very country.

The rich explore and this concerns me
For they drag the beaten soldiers
Into the wombs of their mothers,
Reflecting from mirrors like light.

This light I have coloured in my book,
For children explain and explore
To concentrate their minds on
Innocence, the very deal in life of the country.

A Country Boy At Heart

No matter what city I live in
it will never be home to me
my home is the wide-open spaces
in the heart of the countryside.
Where fields stretch to the horizon,
changing colours with the seasons
as they fall upon us for a while.
I’m a country boy at heart;
in the country is where my heart is free.
Away from the city turmoil
and the rush of vacant minds
breathing in the cool clear air
with no worries about time.
No bleating of irate horns
only the twittering of birds
winging they way through
the freeways of the sky.
Yes, I’m a country boy at heart
that is the place I want to be.
In the country where my heart is free.

Alcoholism In Tamil Nadu, S.India

How to send them to school clean and tidy,
When they have to pass through the muddy roads,
All politicians of my country should walk on this path,
Before they go to the state assembly and Parliament,
Let them teach us how they keep their white shoes, white,
Let them teach us how to carry these bags in rain, not wet,
Let them teach us how to survive with rationed food and water,
Let them go through all these hardship to develop this country,
But most of them have gone through what we go through,
But they forget the past and seek the friendship of rich and high,
Half of my countrymen are dirt poor and dirtier than dirt,
Even in their new clothes they wear once in many blue moon year,
Our children are malnourished and their medicines are stolen,
The milk is adulterated, the medicines are adulterated,
What is not adulterated where the poor men buy from,
Intelligent people are serving themselves in fine dining,
While my poor countrymen drink and save the revenue,
For the state government, Let our men be the alcoholics,
Let our women suffer, Let our children starve and spoil,
Let the government of Tamil Nadu, prosper in distillery.
Shame on everyone who can think for others, not for their own.

The Vacuum

The house is so quiet now
The vacuum cleaner sulks in the corner closet,
Its bag limp as a stopped lung, its mouth
Grinning into the floor, maybe at my
Slovenly life, my dog-dead youth.

I’ve lived this way long enough,
But when my old woman died her soul
Went into that vacuum cleaner, and I can’t bear
To see the bag swell like a belly, eating the dust
And the woolen mice, and begin to howl

Because there is old filth everywhere
She used to crawl, in the corner and under the stair.
I know now how life is cheap as dirt,
And still the hungry, angry heart
Hangs on and howls, biting at air.

Dolly and the Salesman

There's a salesperson at the door
someone said
and so you went to the door
and there was the young salesman

with a book in his hand
and in a sharp grey suit
and hair neat and short cut
yes?

you said
I represent Carson's stores
and it has been brought
to my notice

that you are behind
with your payments
is that so?
you said

yes
the young guy said
three months behind
and if you don't pay today

the item you have chosen to buy
will be removed
is that so?
you said

the young guy looked
into his book of figures
and script
so you called out

Dolly there's a young guy here
who says we owe him money
you both waited
while Dolly came to the door

what do we owe?
she asked
money
the young guy said

what for?
Dolly said
a vacuum cleaner
the young guy said

you are three months behind
now if you do not pay up today
it will be removed
Dolly raised her eyebrows

and put on her
don't mess with me face
and went off
the young guy

and you looked
at each other in silence
after a few minutes
Dolly returned

carrying the vacuum cleaner
here
she said
here's your darn Hoover

take the thing
and go stick it
where the sun
don't shine

and so the young man
held up the vacuum cleaner
and looked at you
and Dolly

and said
right don't come back
to the store
because you won't

be served again
and off he went
out along the road
in the falling black rain.

Shifted Whispers

Whispers shifted
Slipping of dirty tongues
Into clean ears
Swimming through
Soaring down
Silly minds
Into mindless hearts
Into feverish dreams

Shifted whispers
Climbing the thickness of
Night’s heavy air
Slipping
Sticking
Under fingernails
Resting atop eyelashes
Cascading down the spinal cord
Racing through the veins
Driving at the soul.

Country Alone

There is dreaming land and happy country
Cursed and blessed by her beauty alone
The lost children of the country
Foreign in sweet home alone
Do not understand country
Hardly meaning own name alone
Some praise the country
Some leave and laugh alone
Emptying nectar of country
Satisfying their belly alone
Forget about future seed country
Fight living and growing alone
So tragic for the country
Eaten by her child alone

Evil Empire

Theres a country where no one knows
Whats going on in the rest of the world
Theres a country where minds are closed
With just a few asking questions
Like what do their leaders say
In sessions behind closed doors
And if this is the perfect way
Why do we need these goddamn lies
This doesnt go down too well
We give you everything and you throw it back
Dont like it here you can go to hell
Youre either with or against us . . .
Theres a country thats great and wide
Its got the biggest of everything
Try to attack it and you cant hide
Dont say that you havent been warned
You cant hide in a gunmans mask
Or kill innocent folks and run
But if youre good at it they might ask -
Come on over to the other side
Theres a country thats tired of war
Theres a country thats scared inside
But the bank is open and you can draw
For guns to fight in their backyard
I could go on but whats the use
You cant fight them with songs
But think of this as just
Another tiny blow against the empire
Another blow against the evil empire
Just another blow against the evil empire

The Philosopher's Study

A very average room, in a standard terrace house:
the welcome sunlight- ruthless though -
truth itself come down to earth -
reveals that the windows
could be cleaner; yet,
could be dirtier;

shows up the gentle layer of dust –
gentle in its fall, not gentle in its mercy – and
not rising from the earth, but
falling invisibly over time
from the ceiling whose last decorator
used a paint less than the best;
who ever invited dust?
But here it is, inviting in its turn
a passing twinge of guilt; it could be
a metaphor for the philosophic:
dust the mind occasionally,
time brings complacency
and thoughts grow stale,
minds decline…

to a stranger or interior designer
or feng-shui expert, all too cluttered;
too many books for home improvement mags;
not books horizontal, but books vertical;
one could remember how each comes to be there;
for its owner, convenience; occasionally
the slight annoyance of a book urgently sought
(I mistyped ‘ungently’ there..)
requiring the careful craft of extraction
from far down in some tottering pile…

here’s beauty of the mind
for those with mind to see;
and today, the early pale green leaves
from the trimming of the Japanese maple,
every single leaf looking as if it had been bred
by centuries of Japanese devoted to the belief
that man and nature, hand in hand,
may reveal a beauty beyond both –
each leaf tilted delicately towards you as if
as a host bowing modestly in welcome at the door -
these few leaves take your humbled breath away.

In this place, the world itself:
‘infinite riches in a little room’;
as above, so below; as without, so within:
here, heaven and earth, all, open to question;
here is the human mind at home;
meditating; dreaming; waiting in patient hope
like those humble maple leaves
for some new idea to enter,
to expand the loved, mysterious,
boundless glory of the world which constantly
threatens to shrink all to a tiny, wizened, unwise thing;

while unexpectedly at any time may come
a poem, interrupting the philosophy,
to say the things that have not yet been said.

Real Losers

one is the soul of the country one is the wealth
both seem not to know how best to give to the country

one says one is the real son of the country
the other says he is equally a son of the country
for he helps build up the country, feed the nation
and develop it blood and sweat
]
one insists he is the real master
the other says he wishes to have similar status

both go on and on until they forget there is
a country to be fed, to be built, and both
end up in the drain, soul and wealth

so much to fight over in a country
without much of a country to gain in the end
my pity, my pity
