And I'd say one of the great lessons I've learned over the past couple of decades, from a management perspective, is that really when you come down to it, it really is all about people and all about leadership.

Now, if we look at the way in which the labor movement itself has evolved over the last couple of decades, we see increasing numbers of black people who are in the leadership of the labor movement and this is true today.

Have you learned the lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you? Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed passage with you?

How We Learned Our Lessons
Through the living of their lives...
That's how we learned our lessons.
Through the observation of their sacrifices...
That's how we learned our lessons.
And we understood each one of them.
With our minds, eyes and ears opened.
Through the living of their lives...
That's how we learned our lessons.
Through the acceptance and loving ourselves.
That's how we learned our lessons.
Through the giving of respect,
We ourselves sometimes did not get!
That's how we learned our lessons.
And even though our steps made forward...
Were made to believe by others as limited.
And sometimes we wept and knew this was negative.
It was through the acceptance of who we were,
And loving ourselves.
That's how we learned our lessons.
And the parents we loved and had,
Did not brag about their college degrees!
Or 'things' with them we could buy to achieve...
To succeed in the repossessing of our minds,
Some permit an entry for this to be done!
They were with us all the time,
Telling us we could accomplish anything!
And could prove that too to ourselves and anyone.
'Whatever' it was we chose in our lives to do.
And working hard we did...
To pursue.
Through the living of their lives...
That's how we learned our lessons.
Through the observation of their sacrifices...
That's how we learned our lessons.

The Hard Way Every Time
The Hard Way Every Time
Written by - Jim Croce
Yeah, I've had my share of broken dreams
And more than a couple of falls
And in chasin' what I thought were moonbeams
I have run into a couple of walls
But in looking back at the places I've been
The changes that I've left behind
I just look at myself to find
I've learned the hard way every time
'Cause I've had my share of good intentions
And I've made my share of mistakes
And I've learned at times it's best to bend
'Cause if you don't well those are the breaks
Should have listened to all the things I was told
But I was young and too proud at the time
Now I look at myself to find
I learn the hard way ev'ry time
But in looking back at the lessons I've learned
And the mountains I wanted to climb
I just look at myself to find
I've learned the hard way ev'ry time
'Cause I've had my share of broken dreams
And more than a couple of falls
And in chasin' what I thought were moonbeams
I have run into a couple of walls
But in looking back at the faces I've been
I would sure be the first one to say
When I look at myself today
Wouldn'ta done it any other way

I speak directly to the people, and I know that the people of California want to have better leadership. They want to have great leadership. They want to have somebody that will represent them. And it doesn't matter if you're a Democrat or a Republican, young or old.

About Survival And Life
There are so many things I have learned,
About survival and life and healing from pain.
I've learned that those who ignore,
Others doing their best to painfully survive...
Will eventually learn a few lessons themselves.
And for some who shun others as an expectation,
Especially those...
Unaccustomed to being shunned themselves,
The pain to them that comes will be incredible.
Although...
An adjustment aided by one's hindsight often helps.
Allowing lessons as lessons are to be taught and learned,
No matter how difficult the acceptance is....
To provide just the right amount of significant influence.

I learned how to play the drums. When we were in pre-production, when we were still in LA, I had a couple of drum lessons and then some in Toronto. I got the one beat down and that was it.

Regrets of the Past.
Do you know what happens when you regret the past?
Your body system goes haywire and eats up your inside fast.
The choice is, you can end up with alzheimer's or cancer,
Do you think it is worth to entertain the past any longer?
Live for the today & be grateful for everything, I mean EVERYTHING,
Because you have only the now for your entertaining.
The past is gone, the future is not here yet, hope you learned from it,
If not, it will repeat again until you learn it's benefit.
However, when you learned a lot in life and see the result,
By putting the puzzle together becoming humble & really an adult.
Life will be light, happy, peaceful & with respect to all,
Going through time in contentment, solving your lessons & you'll never fall.

To Like Your Talks
Lessons that interest the beginners
Will dull the learners and bore the learned.
Lessons for the learned will bore the layman.
Listeners less than you will like your talks.

With An Acceptance To Acknowledge
Early in my life,
I learned to navigate.
And appreciate what I initiated.
Mistakes I have made.
And not one did I excuse.
I admit I have a low tolerance for weepers.
Perhaps I understand them too much.
I have yet to witness the sharing of sorrows,
Mend anything to become productive.
Early in my life,
I learned to navigate.
And appreciate what I initiated.
But the loneliness of doing that alone,
I abandoned to socialize with others.
Needless to say...
Some lessons learned should never be abandoned.
Early in my life,
I learned to navigate.
And appreciate what I initiated.
With an acceptance to acknowledge,
Some lessons learned should never be abandoned.

I've always had the perspective that roles come into my life when I need them most and sort of teach me lessons. The same can be true of films, films are released into society to aid in a lesson, inspire people, comfort people.

Self Reliance
A naïve little girl
Always shy and scared
Hard knocks of life tamed her well
Self-reliant now and fully prepared.
Long journey of fear and timidity
Fallen many times, apprehension was paired
Exaggerated modesty was actually cowardice
Boldness and assertion, never dared
Life and Time are two great teachers
Many lessons learned and wisdom shared
happy now, grown out from past
Things are better and much repaired.
Self reliance her Gold, freedom her riches
To people has accounts undeclared
Assertiveness and confidence now her jewels
People and life, all pretty squared.

Please Do Not Take This Personally
I am impressed by your progress.
And 'controlled' ability to listen.
'That' I applaud.
We both have shown tremendous growth.
However,
I must bring this to your attention!
That you still refuse to regard my opinion,
Is a matter of your own survival.
I can only extend my best wishes.
But I will 'suggest' this...
Maybe vacating the entire building,
Before the wrecking ball swings.
And the building gets hit?
Leaving it,
Will decrease my 'suspicions'...
That you and your followers will suffer fatalities.
And maybe life long injuries that 'will' exist!
I'm not wishing this.
Perhaps it is an 'intuitive' perception.
Perhaps?
'How would you know this?
What experience do you have?
Why do you attempt to undermine my leadership?
And question my competence?
When 'that' stirs your jealousy.
And to see it is so sad!
When you can produce documented proof,
Perhaps 'then' your 'opinions...
Will be for us more significant.
Until then,
Things will be done as I see fit!
And I can see already,
You are envious of this!
Right now,
And please do not take this personally!
But right now,
I see you as an arrogant and egotistical opportunist!
Using that wrecking ball as a means to make a point,
You have yet to prove.'
You are right.
We do have communication problems.
However...
I do not foresee them as being in our way too much longer!
'I'm glad you have finally come to your senses.
You are not the only one,
With insight and observation.
And seeing it from our point of view,
There will be lessons learned for you.'
You have no idea!
And by the way...
No!
I don't.
I don't take these lessons to be learned,
As personal at all!
Not on these levels of such clarity.
In fact,
I am honored to have you teach them to me.
Lessons like these are life changing!
And once in a lifetime do they come.
Bon Voyage!
