For a short time we lived quietly. But this could not last. White men had found gold in the mountains around the land of winding water.

The Winding Roads
the white innova runs
for hours on this winding road
climbing mountains
we see the green forest
beside us
we are on rocky cliffs
we see the rivers wind
down the mountains
we are inside this silence
awed
overlooking the world
somehow this break
shall make us ponder
how we wasted time
on some nooks
of depression
and unnecessary worries
about tomorrow
the winding roads
still climb up this mountain
we look back seeing
the same winding roads
you say
there is no use going back
we look forward
the thrill up there
we do not discount
there is a valley somewhere
where we soon stop
and relax
then we shall talk
about this life
about these winding roads
that seem endless
to our gazes

The Water
Let others make the songs of love
For our young struggling nation;
But I will sing while e’er I live
The Songs of Irrigation;
For while the white man shall beget
The white man’s son and daughter,
The two most precious things for us
Shall still be wheat and water.
We’ve been drought-ruined in the West—
And ever in my dreaming
I see wide miles of waving crops
And sheets of water gleaming,
On plains where fortune died of thirst
When my brave father sought her,
I see the painted barges pass
Along the winding water.
And now the glorious scheme’s afoot,
Our country to deliver
From drought and death on blazing waste,
By long neglected river.
You’ll see the boodlers of the world
Rush in from every quarter:
They want the land,—the gold-reefed sand,
And now they’ll want the water.
Bright intellects will plan the dykes—
With little gold to gild them—
Bright intellects will plan the dykes,
The people pay to build them;
And when we’ve made our long canals,
And lakes in every quarter,
Then ours would be the “guarantee”—
The Trust would own the water.
They’d hold the bores and aqueducts,
The water-ways and barges,
And we would live, or we would starve
According to their charges;
From all the Edens in the West
They’d bar our sons and daughters—
They’d hold the land, ten leagues or so,
Each side the rippling waters.
But those who fight to hold their own,
The Lord and time delivers;
As we have held our railway lines,
So we shall hold our rivers.
We’ll find the money, as was found
The money spent in slaughter,
To build our dykes and build our dams,
And we shall own the water.

Vale
So ends a life, lived to the full alway,
Thro' peace, thro' war, thro' honored peace again,
From youth unto the closing of his day
Lived simply. Yet a giant among men
Today steals quietly to seek his rest
As quietly he lived, yet none his peer.
In service of his land he gave his best
And, in simplicity, found greatness here.
Seeking no honour but his country's thanks,
No man among us won a place more high.
Comrade and leader where the myriad ranks
Stand now with bended heads as John goes by.
Ever a man, a soldier and a friend
In every heart some echo of the knell
That marks his passing throbs for this great end,
Saying in requiem, 'Pass, John, all is well.'

A Short Term Effect
Movement
No movement
Just a falling bird
Cold as it hits the bleeding ground
He lived and died
Catch sight
Cover me with earth
Draped in black
Static
White sound
A day without substance
A changeof thought
An atmosphere that rots with time
Colours that flicker in water
A short term effect
Scream
As she tries to push him over
Helpless and sick
With teeth of madness
Jump jump dance and sing
Sideways across the desert
A charcoal face
Bites my hand
Time is sweet
Derange and disengage everything
A day without substance
A change of thought
The atmosphere rots with time
Colours that flicker in water
A short term effect
A short term effect
A short term effect
An echo
And a stranger's hand
A short term effect
An echo
And a stranger's hand
A short term effect

An American Fanfare
I love this land sublime America
Beseeched by all the beauty that I saw
The place where mountains crown the land
Clear water from the streams ran loving through my hands
The Lakes and Parks a pleasure
The streaming waterfalls a treasure
Pacific Ocean waves touch beaches full splendor
With sand so white it is a wondrous sight
On the summit of Mt. Lassen
The view a special treat
I could not help but feel the beauty at my feet
The haunting ruins of Mesa Verde
Covered in a shrouded mist
To emerge a short time later
Seeing Cliff Palace sun kissed
I heard Old Faithful rumble
Before it spewed its plume
Of water vapor steam and mist
Made this display a truly wonderful artist
The mighty Trees in the Redwood Forest
Will take your breath away
And leave you praying they will always stay

Back Home Then.......
the plane
touches down
smoothly
a few seconds
i look at the river
winding
in murk
the nipa palms
have water
on their necks
too much water here
back home
it stresses
my mind
sometimes i think
this world will end
with so much water
that we all drown to death
that waves as big as mountains
come to claim
our lives
i am back home then
whatever happens
it does not matter anymore
i will say it to myself
we all die anyway
what time
and how
it does not really matter
i am back home
and we are still on
missing each other's
arms.

there is a winding river
beside tall mountains
you must know that we have
crossed this river
ten times already
it is the same river
winding through the banks
of these foggy mountains
the tall cogon grasses
can deceive us and so
are the boulders of rocks
that lie along our paths
we are grasping for air
to reach the highest peak of these range
of mountains and valleys and
plains
at the topmost
there we can see the truth and negate
that we can never step twice
on that same river that winds through the hillsides
snake, boa, venomous circuitous foggy paths
damned, we stepped on the same river more than twice
this is the tenth, and this is the highest peak
the world is nothing but a winding snake.

Avalanche-the White Death
The land is white
The name of the land brings you
to the land of nothing
The name is white
The white is dead
Sun shines pale, the land shades full of pain
Avalea doesn't bloom and fall in this drain
I'm going back alive again
But no one's crying for the dead
The land is still white
Ice and snow are still the same as yesterday
But the wind is stronger in the sorrow
The land is white
The white is dead
They weep wherever they blow
Forever love, cursed land
Forever goodbye, my lovely land
No more tears falling in this land
Even the sand doesn't know
why he doesn't round to anywhere
The land has frozen like stone
The air is blowed dead
The land is white
The name is white
The land called white is dead

Lost in time
I came to time
And found it
A faithful host
Of an imperial breed
Immortal, immutable
Time lived;
Time is to live
Like a passer - by
I board into time
And as such
I depart
I came to time
And found it
Mystic, void;
A fragile weapon
Travelling as light
I heave into time
But not without a strife
Buying up every moment
In time to live
I lived in time; and
Was lost in it
Everyday like a race
I lived
I came to time
And found it not
My faithful host
Ran into a halt, and
My portion;
It will no longer hold
I called,
Yet it tarried
Alas!
Man exited time,
And unto no form
He returned.
Once again;
Man failed to redeem time!

Theres Gold In The Mountains
(words & music by giant - baum - kaye)
There are lots of girls in the mountains
And theyre worth their weight in gold
When theyre in my arms with their lovin charms
A treasure chest I hold
Well theres gold in the mountains, love in the hills
I dont need no city women with their diamonds and frills
Theres gold in the mountains and oh what scenery
The prettiest girls I ever did see
Theres such beauty there in the mountains
You can feel your knees growin weak
Every single boy feels the height of joy
When he climbs that mountain peak
Well theres gold in the mountains, love in the hills
I dont need no city women with their diamonds and frills
Theres gold in the mountains and oh what scenery
The prettiest girls I ever did see
I said theres gold in the mountains, love in the hills
I dont need no city women with their diamonds and frills
Theres gold in the mountains and oh what scenery
The prettiest girls I ever did see
I ever did see
I ever did see

Australia (acrostic)
Aborigines lived here for forty thousand years
Under the starry sky's, they lived off the land.
Storms, droughts and fires
Throughout the millenniums
Ravished the land, but they survived.
According to their culture
Loyal to the land they remained
Ignoring all the ill they endured from the white
Aborigines have not yet lost the fight

Deep Water
(Fred Rose)
I'm drifting into deep water
I'm startin' to care for you
You're gettin' me into deep water
Be careful what you do
You want a romance
But I'm seekin' love
I know I'll regret it when it ends
I'm winding up in deep water
Why can't we just be friends
It's restless in this deep water
I'm lost between right and wrong
My love is true as deep water
You're love won't last as long
Where will it lead me
And where will it end
I can't help but wish I only knew
I'm winding up in deep water
So deep in love with you

Girl With The Heart Of Gold
Night and day, day and night
I do my best to do things right
Never meant to ever hurt nobody
And if I should in some small way
Ever rain on your parade
I will make it up to you I promise
Ever since I met that girl
Theres no one else in the whole wide world
Said shed stay and be with me forever
Mysteries have long been told
About the girl with the heart of gold
And you know I think that I have found her
Chorus
Because every time she looks my way
I lose control, what can I say
Shes everything Ive ever been after, oh,
I found the girl with the heart of gold
I found the girl with the heart of gold
I found the girl with the heart of gold
I found the girl with the heart of gold

The Land That Time Forgot
Where the dinosaurs lie sleeping,
In the land that time forgot,
Save by the loyal crofters,
Whose lives abide atop,
Those magnificent white mountains,
Whose mood can turn so fast.
To know them is to love them
With their awesome graceful past.
Imperious, they'll forever stand,
Amidst the secret glens.
Withstanding ever, test of time.
Towering over brooks and benns.
If you enter through the gates of time,
Expect them to enfold,
You, with an Energy unique and pure
Where time is liquid gold.
Moments they spell hours,
And days turn into years.
The mighty mountains tall and true
Will wipe away all tears.
If you have the courage,
And you know this life's for you,
The hills and glens and bothies,
Will be ever always true.
To those who see God's mistress,
Will she always hold you tight.
So take a breath and make the step,
From darkness into light.

Kilroy Was Here
Theres a fellow roaming round the street
I think most of all Id like to meet
I must consider him a clever lad
Making like a young sir galahad
Everywhere I go I think hes been
He autographs the walls around the scene
If you look hard enough youll find him there
In rooms of public places everywhere
Kilroy was here
Left his name around the place
Kilroy was here
Thought Ive never seen his face
On a short vacation with my friends
I found I had time on my hands to spare
Surveyed my telescope around the land
And saw his name imprinted in the sand
Kilroy was here
Left his name around the place
Kilroy was here
Thought Ive never seen his face
On a short vacation with my friends
I found I had time on my hands to spare
Surveyed my telescope around the land
And saw his name imprinted in the sand
I wonder could he be a cavalier
Or a roving musketeer
Or just a dustman whos insane
Everyplace regardless where or when
.... strikes again and again and again
If I ever meet that man at all
Ill hang a plague upon my bedroom wall
A monument erected in his name
Would help to contribute his name
Kilroy was here
Left his name around the place
Kilroy was here
Thought Ive never seen his face
On a short vacation with my friends
I found I had time on my hands to spare
Surveyed my telescope around the land
And saw his name imprinted in the sand
Kilroy was here
Though Ive never seen his face

Down To The Water
Written by dewey bunnell, 1977
Found on harbor.
The waves come in
Crash on the shoreline
Salty water, dont you know
Its yours, yours and mine
So grab your girl
And dont go wastin time
And lets go down to the water tonight
White capped clouds
Dance in the sunlight
Purple fishes watch
And show you some of their delight
The weathers fine
And everythings all right
So lets go down to the water tonight
Lets go down to the water tonight
Come on down, come on down
Come on down, down to the water
Come on down, come on down
Come on down, down to the water
Down to the water
Island music
Sways with a palm tree
Friends of mine lay back
And talk of times that werent so free
So lets have fun
And that means you and me
And lets go down to the water tonight
Lets go down to the water tonight.
Down, down, down to the water
Down, down, down to the water
Down, down, down to the water
Down, down, down to the water
Down, down, down to the water
Down, down, down to the water ...

The Winding Ways Of Gried And Insecurities....
....that grief is, 'like a long valley, a winding valley where any bend may reveal a totally new landscape.' (c.s. lewis)
...we have walked for quite a time
in this winding path,
we settled on plateaus
and then started again on those winding
paths of
mountains high
crossed rivers for the nth time
and rested on
grasses with our back
dirties sometimes
...the rains are heavy sometimes
and we feel the cold and some of us
get sick,
hard coughs that seem to take away all
inside our lungs,
pains that stay on our legs for days
the anxieties in our heads
as to where is this journey taking
all of us, , , ,
no one really knows,
but the hope is there,
somewhere is a rainbow
somewhere is a totally new landscape
we imagine what kind of happiness
awaits us there
they are not telling us.

The Story Of Mermaids
Night plays winds winding, shimmying
Like thoughts
Thinking too much. This roar, rush,
Trees bent
Crying down.
Mermaids' twilight- misted warning:
Water Passage! Seaweed grasps
Senuous scales
To sea, winding, shimmering
Under Nights
Warning glow: enough fantasy...
Images seductive.
Once, you were chosen for Land.
No more.
Go.

Paradise on the Rocks
I dwell in the mountains up high
Higher than the Petronas yet shy of Everest
In the land of the precious stones and rich shores
In the gold coast where the freedom for the black star began
In the land of oil and of greens where nature still lives
Love and freedom in this land are twins
Down the heights the people trade and mine
Men and birds soar over the rocky slopes with wings spread
As a hairy man, trees and grass cover nearly his entire face
Seen smiling he is, always, with eyes gleaming
The top of his head though not bald is clothed in white
Cloudy, misty and foggy intertwined with every branch
Up there, the air is pure and the herbs life
The ground is rich and the water mineral
The wind symphonic and the feels, oh dear, freezing…
This is where I dwell; this is where I am alive
My little place of harmony, my haven
I call this my paradise…my pied-à-terre

Caledonia
Caledonia! thou land of the mountain and rock,
Of the ocean, the mist, and the wind-
Thou land of the torrent, the pine, and the oak,
Of the roebuck, the hart, and the hind;
Though bare are thy cliffs, and though barren thy glens,
Though bleak thy dun islands appear,
Yet kind are the hearts, and undaunted the clans,
That roam on these mountains so drear!
A foe from abroad, or a tyrant at home,
Could never thy ardour restrain;
The marshall'd array of imperial Rome
Essay'd thy proud spirit in vain!
Firm seat of religion, of valour, of truth,
Of genius unshackled and free,
The muses have left all the vales of the south,
My loved Caledonia, for thee!
Sweet land of the bay and wild-winding deeps
Where loveliness slumbers at even,
While far in the depth of the blue water sleeps
A calm little motionless heaven!
Thou land of the valley, the moor, and the hill,
Of the storm and the proud rolling wave-
Yes, thou art the land of fair liberty still,
And the land of my forefathers' grave!
