I love acting. When I'm acting I feel like I'm on vacation. I'm just having a wonderful time. The nightmare is just getting the work to happen.

I love acting with kids, cause they're great acting partners. They're totally present. Even when they're acting, they're still available and you can crack them up or something weird will happen and they'll go with it.

I learn a lot from acting, but it's not my natural way. I can't help but write; I do it all the time. It's a condition of being for me. I think I am a writer, but professionally I feel drawn to and suited for directing. As far as producing, I like to facilitate other people's good work. With acting I like to be in ensemble pieces.

The most significant piece of advice my father gave me early on about acting was, don't get caught acting. Really believe in what you're doing and then commit to it. Even if it feels uncomfortable, even if you feel that you're gonna look like an ass. It's all acting, but find the truth in a moment as opposed to just pretending you have and rather than trying to act your way out of it.

Acting As Your Slave
My hand asleep for hours
Waiting for the needles to begin
I have no control
They proceed to penetrate my skin
Acting as your slave I drink for amber waves
I never have embraced
Acting as your slave I drink an open grave
An epitaph defaced
Killing with compassion
She hasnt heard a word that I have said
Swallowing your passion
I can see a thousand miles ahead
Acting as your slave I drink for barricades
That I have often raised
Acting as your slave I numb my head and rave
Of epitaphs defaced
Acting as your slave I drink while she forgave
With trials left unfaced
Acting as your slave I stumble to her grave
An epitaph defaced

This city can be kind of brutal, so you see your dreams from every different angle, but ultimately it's about acting and if you enjoy acting, you will always enjoy acting.

Singing is a way of releasing an emotion that you sometimes can't portray when you're acting. And music moves your soul, so music is the source of the most intense emotions you can feel. When you hear a song and you're acting it's incredible. But when you're singing a song and you're acting it's even more incredible.

I think my parents were happy that I'd gone to university and gotten a degree in history so they thought, 'Well if acting doesn't work for him, he can always become a history teacher or something.' Fortunately, the acting worked out.

Whats In It For Me
(billy burnette, bekka bramlett, annie roboff)
Thought we had a good thing baby
You pulled the wool over my eyes
Shouldve seen it coming baby
Now all I see is a cool love dying
Honey I dont want to hold you down
Why you gotta own the lock and the key
Oh tell me baby
Good things just dont come around
And you cant have them for free
No not me
Youve been a river of give
And an ocean of take
Darlin for heavens sake
Youve got me up and down and in between
Acting nice then being real mean
Hey
Well you hold me tight then you turn your back
Who could deal with that
You say you want to work it out, boy
Tell me whats in it for me
Youre living in your own world
You act like Im just passing through
Oh yeah
Dont you want to be happy
Dont you know how good I could be
Seems everybodys telling you something
That they know you just want to hear
Oh but you aint gonna hear it from me
Youve been a valley of love
And a mountain of need
Baby, its time you see
Youve got me up and down and in between
Acting nice then being real mean
Hey
Well you hold me tight then you turn your back
Who could deal with that
You say you want to work it out, boy
Tell me whats in it for me
Up and down and in between
Acting nice then being real mean
Well you hold me tight then you turn your back
Who could deal with that
You say you want to work it out boy
Tell me whats in it for me
Youve been a river of give and a mountain of take
Darlin for heavens sake
Youve got me up and down and in between
Acting nice then being real mean
Hey
Well you hold me tight then you turn your back
Who could deal with that
You say you want to work it out, boy
Tell me whats in it for me
Up and down and in between
Acting nice then being real mean
Hey
Well you hold me tight then you turn your back
Who could deal with that
You say you want to work it out boy
Tell me whats in it for me
Oh, in it for me
Whats in it for me
Whats in it for me

My first real kiss came when I was 10, and it was in an acting class. I had to do a scene from a movie where someone gets kissed under a tree, and I did not want to do it! But my acting partner wanted me to feel comfortable, so he bought a picnic basket with all these snacks. He made such an effort - and it was cute.

Access Me
The first time I came over I was bitten by your dog
You weren't even there 'cause you were walking in the fog
I call you up and plead and beg and talk to your machine
My friends say not to bother when you're acting pretty mean
But I don't need to botehr you, no I won't play that part
I just want access to the inside of your heart
Access to your thoughts on the way that I should be
So I could start to cvhange and maybe you could access me
Access me
You could tell me all about all the things you did at work
The guy who sits beside you and how he's acting like a jerk
And if you don't have to open up the secrets of your soul
But if that's the place you want me I'd be glad to pay the toll

Captain Hook
She looks at me and my world stops
I've got to let her know
Before she has to go
And I hope she does confront me
Cause I might never find
The words I got in mind
And I don't know, no I don't know
What to say when I'm around you
I don't know just what to do
You must know the way I feel
By the way I'm acting, yeah
You know I'm so crazy
I'm so crazy about you
She tries to catch me, I wont stop
She grabs me by the hand
I knew she'd understand
And she kisses me and my heart stops
She asks me if I dance
I said I love the chance
But I don't know, no I don't know
What to say when I'm around you
I don't know just what to do
You must know the way I feel
By the way I'm acting, yeah
You know I'm so crazy
I'm so crazy about you
She tells me that I am the one she's been looking for
I only hope that it is true
And if I tell her that her image never leaves my mind
Will she say she loves me too
She looks at me and my world stops
I've got to let her know
Before she has to go
And I hope she does not confront me
Cause I might never find
The words I got in mind
And I don't know, no I don't know
What to say when I'm around you
I don't know just what to do, yeah
You must know the way I feel

I'm so crazy about you
