Live so that when the final summons comes you will leave something more behind you than an epitaph on a tombstone or an obituary in a newspaper.

Harry Truman

I always remember an epitaph which is in the cemetery at Tombstone, Arizona. It says 'Here lies Jack Williams. He done his damnedest.' I think that is the greatest epitaph a man can have.

What the Sexton Said

Your dust will be upon the wind
Within some certain years,
Though you be sealed in lead to-day
Amid the country's tears.

When this idyllic churchyard
Becomes the heart of town,
The place to build garage or inn,
They'll throw your tombstone down.

Your name so dim, so long outworn,
Your bones so near to earth,
Your sturdy kindred dead and gone,
How should men know your worth?

So read upon the runic moon
Man's epitaph, deep-writ.
It says the world is one great grave.
For names it cares no whit.

It tells the folk to live in peace,
And still, in peace, to die.
At least, so speaks the moon to me,
The tombstone of the sky.

I never understood why when you died, you didn't just vanish, everything could just keep going on the way it was only you just wouldn't be there. I always thought I'd like my own tombstone to be blank. No epitaph, and no name. Well, actually, I'd like it to say 'figment.'

Tombstone

Look at all the plans I made
Falling down like scraps of paper
I will leave them where they lie to remind me
From the past a rumour comes
Dont let it keep draggin you down
Throw the memory in an open fire
Youll be free
Roll back the tombstone
Let the saints appear
Roll back the tombstone
Make a new man out of me
Beware the passenger
The train already left the station
We are neither at home nor at work
We are moving
Listen to the howling of steel
A face betraying no emotion
Like you never had a chance to be
Wild and free
Roll back the tombstone
Let the saints appear
Roll back the tombstone
Till the lone ranger rides again
Rides again in your mind
Rode across the open plain
All the way and back again

On the back page of a old newspaper

There’s a newspaper which the wind blows,
round and round
until it hits against me.

I grab it out of the wind
and after getting into my car
I open it on the seat next to me.

I see your photograph
on the back page of a old newspaper
and it says that you live
in another country,
on the other side of the big blue sea.

I wonder what is going on in your world
and when I close the newspaper,
It’s as if you were here with me
for a moment.

O, What is Lost?

Yet again, the stock market crumbles and falls,
Ruining the economy for us all.
A day without a newspaper—
O, what is lost?

Gas prices rise as embargoes are insinuated.
War seems imminent. Tension is elevated.
A day without a newspaper—
O, what is lost?

Epidemics, viral infections are on the verge of spreading.
It's a shame our scientists don't know anything.
A day without a newspaper—
O, what is lost?

Front page: Can you believe it? Could it be true?
Snooki is pregnant. When is she due?
A day without a newspaper—
O, what is lost?

For The Needs Of The Many

The Garden of Gethsemane was where the Saviour prayed...
Preparing faith for Calvary, He wept there, heart-dismayed...
Was this the night? Was this the hour? Was this the time for tears?
Was this the moment for God's power, God's love to cast out fears?

'When I consider the kingdoms and all the sovereign lands
And all the cherished wisdoms that are God's destined plans,
And let my heart and mind reflect on each damned sinful soul...
Then who am I, that I neglect the Lord of Fates' control?
When I consider slaves enchained, the sins that each can do
And all the evils that remained, evolving, ever new,
I mourn for future lives as well, like grains of sand that drift...
Then who am I, to break the spell, to grant a holy gift?
When I consider such a price, before me, yet unpaid,
The horror of the sacrifice, the contract to be made,
The dark despair when demons laugh and scoff at such a plight...
Then who am I, this epitaph, my final act to write?
When I consider pain and death, they make my blood to boil,
That they must take my final breath, as if their fitting spoil,
Yet I will win and live again! I will not leave them any...
Forgiveness offered to all men, for the needs of the many...'

Life In Newspaper

Some life stop their life on newspaper.
some life loss their life on newspaper.
loss their life like a photograph.
Loss their life in a column of newspaper.
Loss their life in the lightening photo of star.
Speech of false leader.
Profile of high profile cader.
Photo of dustbin child.
Fulfil the newspaper.
Now life,
Now love,
Addvertisement of peace,
or humanity.
Everything u found here.
Now life loss his life in newspaper.

On the loss of a young man

On the loss of a young man
~
A young man
With a steady career
Promising future
Highly rated
Close circle of friends
A young family
Well provided for
The kind of life
Many wish to have
All too suddenly gone
Leaving repeated questions
None will ever understand
Those silent tears
He wept and kept alone
Till they became to much
An obituary in a newspaper
Reads praise from many
The ending of his story
Sad and sadly unknown
Another young man
Gone too soon

Leave My Car Alone

By stuffing newspaper up the exhaust of my car
Somebody I do not know have taken their fun too far
I do not have a known enemy and I'm new to this Town
Why is someone I do not know trying to drag me down?

My car it felt sick and I rang the R A C V
And what the mechanic discovered a huge surprise to me
A newspaper rolled up blocked the exhaust pipe rear
By some not too nice person it was pushed in there.

I am not without sin I will not cast the stone
But if you do not like the look of me leave my car alone
You do unto others what you'd like them do to you
Those words not by me but those words seem so true.

Against the person who did this I could not hold a grudge
And since I am not meant to be anyone's judge
Of that karma will surely take care
What goes around comes around that does seem fair.

Some non thinking person with low self esteem
Could only do something like this it would seem
And I would like to say to this person leave my old car be
You should not harm my car if you do not like me.

I am new to this Town here not many I know
And all I ask of anyone is a fair go
I am not without sin I will not cast the stone
And if you do not like the look of me leave my car alone.

The Decline of the West

Now it is not good for the Christian's health to hustle the Aryan
brown,
For the Christian riles, and the Aryan smiles, and he weareth the
Christian down;
And the end of the fight is a tombstone white with the name of
the late deceased,
And the epitaph drear: "A Fool lies here who tried to hustle the
East."

Early Works - Epitaph For A Friend

Gathering of blackness
cower the lost to the final reunion.
The gates enfold of sadness
for a lost friend.
Hear the mighty trumpets blow
its last cord of silence
before the clouded darkness
surround the black.

Through the years that were short
compared with the final infinity
there were joys
beyond the reaches known
and sadness to whom know have gone.
Home was just a bed
where freedom died,
though our course wasn’t straight,
neither was it crooked,
but friends we stayed
through thick and thin.

Now before another sunrise
another soul wings its way high
to the paradise of heaven
where tranquillity rules all
and memories are lost.
People though just mortal
cry for the departed,
but do the departed want us to cry.
Boundaries are crossed without a tear everyday
so why not in our hour of grief.

So into the final road you’ve entered,
into the most final thing
and here to you
an epitaph to a friend.

Fool For Your Love

(diana ross/ray chew/bill wray)
What do you want, baby
One last piece of my heart
What do you need, baby
We could make a new start
Im not scared
All the nights alone
Lying there crying with the television on
Watching those scoops about love and happiness
Wonder what I ever did to deserve a fate like
I dont wanna be around
For that famous final scene
I just cant help myself
Im a fool for your love
Leave me alone, please
My heart cant take any more
You left me going crazy
It started like just like a phone
Youre the number one
Youre the only one I need
If you dont want my love
Then set me free
I dont wanna be around
For that famous final scene
I cant help myself
Im a fool for your love
Dont come closer
You know Im easy to phone
You dont love me
Any fool can see
Im telling you goodbye
Bye, bye
Leave me alone, please
My heart cant take anymore
Leave me alone, please
Let me walk out that door
Leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone
I dont wanna be around
For that famous final scene
I just cant help myself
Im a fool for your love
Im a fool for your love
Im a fool for your love
Leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone
A fool for your love
Im a fool for your love
Leave me alone, please
My heart cant take it no more
Leave me alone, leave me alone

Barmaid and a drunkard

The rural bar is always full.
Pungent smoke and the vapour of spirits
Intoxicate her before it's closed.
A young drunkard journalist as a habit
Who stays until the bar closed?
And he drops her to the threshold of her house.
She finds a day to talk him about their future
But it's very hard as the guy is not sober at all.
Very seldom he comes now and it's stopped all of a sudden.
She goes home alone after the bar closed
And a small twinkling star guides the entire walk.
One day she found in a customer's newspaper her lost soul's obituary.
She left the bar before it closed and murmured on the way
'I am not afraid and I feel that he comes with me along my life.'

A newspaper is a collection of half-injustices

A newspaper is a collection of half-injustices
Which, bawled by boys from mile to mile,
Spreads its curious opinion
To a million merciful and sneering men,
While families cuddle the joys of the fireside
When spurred by tale of dire lone agony.

A newspaper is a court
Where every one is kindly and unfairly tried
By a squalor of honest men.

A newspaper is a market
Where wisdom sells its freedom
And melons are crowned by the crowd.

A newspaper is a game
Where his error scores the player victory
While another's skill wins death.

A newspaper is a symbol;
It is feckless life's chronicle,
A collection of loud tales
Concentrating eternal stupidities,
That in remote ages lived unhaltered,
Roaming through a fenceless world.

The Day Will Come

When the tombstone reads my name
There at-last
There will be no pain
Maybe my family will say then
That they didn't know me that well
Now maybe, They'll start to understand
What made my heartaches, and swells
We were so young when
I started the fight
To end that past

It's why I couldn't ever hold my tears back

You see, I was the one that had
Gotten tired of what made them cry
Now maybe they'll stand here
Trying to understand my words and why
So
Those words, on my tombstone
Shows how true love, says good-by

But the time is not now
Yet the time is slowly coming near
On that day they will see love
My kind of love, that doesn't cause tears
It's what I've fought for
All those years

So on my tombstone
They'll see what I've done
How I ended all their abuse
Through love songs that I've sung
