A man has to have goals - for a day, for a lifetime - and that was mine, to have people say, 'There goes Ted Williams, the greatest hitter who ever lived.'

There has always been a saying in baseball that you can't make a hitter, but I think you can improve a hitter. More than you can improve a fielder. More mistakes are made hitting than in any other part of the game.

Confidence
It is good to be confident.
It helps you reach life's
Simplest or greatest goals.
It builds your self-esteem.
It shapes your character.
It allows you to helps others.
Confidence wears sturdy hiking boots.
It is sure footed, limber and swift.
It climbs the highest mountains.
You can build up someone's confidence
By speaking WORDS THAT EDIFY.
Speak uplifting words,
For you cannot take words back.
Your words will travel
Farther than you shall ever know.
They will reach the goals.
They will help you
And others
Fail or succeed
For a lifetime.

A Switch Hitter Looks for 'That' Pitch
A switch hitter looks for 'that' pitch.
That certain one,
To bat a home run off of it.
Not to swing to foul or strike out.
But to prove his game played is legit.
With the hope that a home run,
Gets some cheering from a crowd...
Paying to have fun.
And the cheering done as the hitter runs,
Is prayed not to be the only one to come.
And in the dugout the hitter is welcomed,
As a hero.
Ending with a ceasing of cracked jokes.
And the spitting out of old bubble gum chewed!
As a new pack is passed...
While the players encourage the next at bat!

Once In A Lifetime Love
Some people have it, some people don't
Some people never will
Sometimes it's hard to know when you've got it
Sometimes it's perfectly clear
Well I know it's out there I've seen it happen
I know the way it should feel
Cause there's no mistakin'
That good kind of achin'
Of a once in a lifetime love
Once in a lifetime love
A love like we've all dreamed of
It may go disguised or right before your eyes
A once in a lifetime love
So if you think you've got it
If you feel it inside you
Don't let it slip away
Cause you may not ever find what you never
Thought you'd have anyway
And if you've always had it and just realized
You know how lucky you are
To wake up beside what some never find
A once in a lifetime love
Once in a lifetime love
A love like we've all dreamed of
It may go disguised or right before your eyes
A once in a lifetime love
It may go disguised or right before you eyes
A once in a lifetime love

I'm certain that it was an incredible gift for me to not only be friends with some of the greatest blues people who've ever lived, but to learn how they played, how they sang, how they lived their lives, ran their marriages, and talked to their kids.

In This Lifetime
All things one will receive,
In this lifetime.
Will come.
To leave.
In this lifetime.
That which is believed,
In this lifetime.
Will change as one grows.
To learn, accept and come to know.
In this lifetime.
With trust there is happiness.
If kept.
Much is tested to address...
Each season manifested.
Reasons we all share,
To compare if something in life is missed.
Makes us seek pieces to complete...
With a snug fit.
In this lifetime.
And in this lifetime,
All that is received...
Leaves.
With air that is free to breathe.
That seems not to be an option,
In this lifetime of teased choices made to choose.

Once Upon A Lifetime
Once upon a lifetime
I looked in someone's eyes
and felt the fire burning in my heart
for the very first time
she was scared and young
and had never tasted love
so I took her by the hand
a boy became a man
once upon a lifetime
And once upon a lifetime
you hold the queen of hearts
but if you gamble on a diamond
when the dealing starts
you stand to lose it all
as the cards begin to fall
and the lesson learned is hard
you're only dealt the queen of hearts
once upon a lifetime
So if you're taking chances
know the chance you take
a broken heart's a high price to pay
foolish ways will make fools of the wise
and the best things seldom come along twice
Once upon a lifetime
you know that you've been blessed
when you hold your first born tenderly
against your chest
and through the innocence you see
the value of a family
and you feel a special bond
that only comes along
once upon a lifetime
So if you're taking chances
know the chance you take
a broken heart's a high price to pay
foolish ways will make fools of the wise
and the best things seldom come along twice
And people only find
a love like your's and mine
once upon a lifetime

Molded Goals
Give me my right to have a life of variety.
With a choice I decide in my mind,
Who and what I will be as I define.
People live to breathe in sequels.
And leeching to squeeze,
From an opportunistic vision.
But too afraid to plant their own footsteps,
If others are not pleased.
People are not free,
Or encouraged to be themselves.
And directed from their births,
To seek acceptance...
From others who have molded goals,
And know what is perfectness.
Give me my right to have a life of variety.
With a choice I decide in my mind,
Who and what I will be as I define.
People are not free,
Or encouraged to be themselves.
And directed from their births,
To seek acceptance...
From others who have molded goals,
And know what is perfectness.
Molded goals grow old to corrode.
And find a staleness solid...
Rusted with rot and dropped forgotten.
People live and breathe in sequels.
Too afraid to make fresh steps.
People live to please other people,
And get upset when nothing is correct!
Molded goals.
Molded goals.
Rusted with rot,
And soon dropped forgotten.

Never Been In Love Before
Ive never been in love before
Not like this you taught me more
Hung out by myself
Well I lived upon a shelf
And cried cause I thought I could not give
My pride would not let me live
All my feelings disappeared
You are lovely reason i
Am alive you satisfy
All my senses and you give
Me the confidence to grow
In a thousand different ways
Happy just to spend the days
Of my lifetime by your side
I want to be
Everything that I can
I want so much
To be more of a man
I want to grow
I want to know you better
Each day Ill try
To love you
cause Ive never been in love before
You have a friend for life in me
If we ever disagree
And you have to go away
I will set you free with joy
cause your happiness is mine
May our light forever shine
May you always feel free
I want to be
Everything that I can
I want so much
To be more of a man
I want to live
I want to give my lifetime
Each day Ill try
To love you
cause Ive never been in love before

The Greatest
[Intro]
(The the, the the, the the, the the)
Don't throw no roses on my grave, boo
That's not a soldier, it's more like an angel
You got no where to run, no one to pray to
Jesus and Moses ain't comin' to save you
(The greatest, the the the greatest)
I flow like a butterfly, I sting like a hornet
They won't let me have it
Not even if no one else want it
And if I try to take it
They wanna break me down and strip me naked
They write a brand new rule and break it
They lie, they cheat, they steal, they fake it
But I'mma make it, Lord I can take it
I'm the (The greatest man alive)
Cut the drama boy, save it for your mama
I'm the (The greatest man alive)
I can't sweat it, know I got to get it
I'm the (The greatest man alive)
Without no doubt, my name will survive
(The greatest the the greatest man alive)
(The greatest man)
(The greatest, the the)
I'mma make it, Lord I can take it
I'm the (The greatest man alive)
Cut the drama boy, save it for your mama
I'm the (The gratest man alive)
I can't sweat it, I know I got to get it
I'm the (The greatest man alive)
Without no doubt, my name will survive
(The, the greatest man alive)
(The greatest, the the greatest man)
(The the, the greatest man alive)
(The, the the greatest, the the the greatest man)
(The greatest man alive)
I'mma make it, know that I can take it
I'm the (The greatest man alive)
Cut the drama boy, save it for your mama
I'm the (The greatest man alive)
I can't sweat it, I know I gotta get it
I'm the (The greatest man alive)
Without no doubt my name will survive
(The greatest man, the greatest man alive)
It only gets harder
It always seems so far away
The sky's getting darker
Another storm is on the way
(The the greatest, the the the greatest, the the)
Another storm is on the way
(The the the the greatest, the the greatest)
(The greatest man alive)

One Night Life In A Lifetime
Theres more to question than answers
And sand will slip through your hands
And love is faster than lightning
So grab it while you can mm, mm, mm...
Well Ive been searching forever
Between the bad and the good
But now I know what Im missing
And I wanna make it with you
One night in a lifetime
One life in a night
One night in a lifetime
And babe its gotta be tonight
Babe its gotta be tonight
One night in a lifetime
One life in a night
One night in a lifetime
And baby it should be tonight
Baby it should be tonight
One night in a lifetime
One night, one night, one night
In a lifetime, one night
They say that love is a gamble
And luck will play a trick or two
But Ill risk all of my loving
Id put my last buck on you
One night in a lifetime
One life in a night
One night in a lifetime
And baby its gotta be tonight
Baby its gotta be tonight
One night in a lifetime
One life in a night
One night in a lifetime
And baby its gotta be tonight
Baby its gotta be tonight
One night in a lifetime
One night, one night, one night
In a lifetime, one night
One night in a lifetime
One life in a night
One night in a lifetime
And baby its gotta be tonight
Baby its gotta be tonight
One night in a lifetime
One life in a night
One night in a lifetime
And baby it should be tonight
Baby it should be tonight
