My best friend growing up really put the bug in my ear about acting. We created this one hour-and-a-half improv play when we were 10 or 11 and performed it at the library. We just played off each other so well and had the best time doing it and the funniest part was, we wound up having packed houses, other people loved it too.

Bob Hope Esquire

My good friend, Bob, deserves acclaim! He loved to make folks laugh!
Indeed, this was his claim to fame... and now his epitaph...
His mind was like a library - one-liners as a rule!
His heart was good as gold, you see! That's why he played the fool!
His long nose was like a ski slope that's always heading south!
Despite his 'snozz', he learnt to cope and utilised his mouth!
Do you remember fondly, too? He flirted all the time!
He told each girl, 'Sure, I love you! Hey, babe, you look sublime! '
He charmed us all: half wit, half style! He made us grin and grin!
God blessed us with Bob's roguish smile... and also with his chin!
Bob played the hero with panache! We hoped he would succeed -
Especially as folks paid him cash to star and play the lead!
I pray my good friend Bob's received in Heaven, by the Lord...
And all lost golf balls are retrieved as part of his reward!

You Play Entirely By Yourself

You've created a game you play entirely by yourself.
Is this something done consciously?
Is this a game played with me you believe I can't see?

You've created a game you play entirely by yourself.
At first I thought you were sincere and honest.
I did not suspect you to be,
Someone who played with others emotionally.
I did not detect this from you at all.
Until you would say disrespectful things,
When I would think of you and place a telephone call.

I did not suspect you to be,
Insensitive and distant when you chose to be.
And had no regard for the feelings of others...
Until I caught you embellishing,
Something you did for someone claimed...
When I was the one who did it,
And you didn't mention me by name.

You've created a game you play entirely by yourself.
Is this something done consciously?
Is this a game played with me you believe I can't see?
Or is it that you are that experienced,
And the game you play and have created...
Only to you when implemented makes sense.

The best preparation for acting is life -- observing life and people and observing yourself. All that becomes your library. So when you have to research a part, a scene or an emotion, you go into the library and get what you need.

It's Funny How

It's funny how hello is always accompanied with goodbye
It's funny how remembering good memories can make you cry
It's funny how forever never seems to really last
It's funny how much you'd lose if youforgot youre past
It's funny how friends can just leave when you're down
It's funny how when you need someone the're never around
It's funny how people can change and think the're so much better
It's funny how many lies can be packed into one love letter
It's funny how people can forgive even tho they cant forget
It's funny how one night can catain of so much regret
It's funny how crazy and ironic life turns out to be but the funniest part of all is that non of that seeems funny to me.

Open Book's Monologue Part 5: Welcome To The Library!

Welcome to the library! come one come all
Welcome to the library! come with your brethren on this wall
Welcome to the library! come all you books tattered or new
Welcome to the library! come tired and overdue

Yes welcome to the library the place where you're most mundane
Yes welcome to the library the place where you're to endure most pain
Yes welcome to the library where you'll sit unwanted
Yes welcome to the library where you'll sit haunted
Yes welcome to the library where everyone's just like you
Yes welcome to the library where we're all books too!
Yes welcome to the library where you can take comfort
Yes welcome to the library where In the fact you're no longer unique
Yes welcome to the library You're just pen marks ink

Departing the library? I think not, even if you get out we'll bring you back
Departing the library? Here you rot, but we'll dust you to ease your passing
Departing the library? Don't make me laugh, here you're black and white
Departing the library? Nobody argues on your behalf, look more amassing

Welcome to the library! A place of keeping and safety
Welcome to the library! Take your place you'll like it, just wait and see
Welcome to the library! New books don't mind the old they're disillusioned
Welcome to the library! You've sold your soul... but it's too late for you

so WELCOME

Stevie D, Jimmy Dean And Melodie

Melodie likes Stevie D,

she compliments him to a T.

She has the memory of

going to Place in the City.

Stevie goes on

the Improv stage,

to do comedy and entertain.

Melodie laughs with Jimmie,

Jimmie Dean,

it is one funniest acts

they have ever seen.

Then Jimmie is next

to go on stage,

his act too

is all the rage.

Melodie is then to be seen,

she is with Razel puppet and me.

Lighters light up in the air,

whistling everywhere,

Razel yells without a care,

“You know why I

have no pupils? ”

Before Melodie can jump in,

Razel has finished her line,

and committed the sin.

People are shocked and

begin to talk.

Lights go out

and I bow

to the shouts.

What a time in 2005,

Little Toy Soldier

Once upon a time there was a toy soldier and he lived in the play room
Once upon a time there was a toy soldier with a whip lash in his hand
And every night little girl sadie would take all her clothes off and wind up the toy soldier and he raised his whip and said
On your knees little sadie
Little sadie on your knees
Taste the whip and love might given likely
Taste the whip and bleed for me
Little sadie loved her little toy soldier
And she run home from school each day
Little sadie loved her little toy soldier
And she locked her door so she could play
Little sadie got ambitious
And wound the clockworks so to tighter
So he could whip her harder and harder
On your knees little sadie
Little sadie on your knees
Taste the whip and love might given likely
Taste the whip and bleed for me
One day sadie wound and wound
And wound and wound
And wound and wound
Til suddenly the little toy soldier spring, went. . .
(ugly, beat her to death)
Ahhhh
Cough, cough, cough

The Actress

(orbison/melson)
Well you should be an actress
You play your part so well
Your act is so believable
That no one else can tell
You say the lines, but I see
That you dont really love me
You keep me around to be your faithful clown
Till someone you can love comes along
Youll keep on pretending
Because the show must go on
Yes, you should be an actress
As lovely as you are
The way you play on emotion
Youd shame the brightest star
Youre acting all the time
No, youre not really mine
Im just another scene in your play acting scheme
No, you dont love me at all
But when you walk away
Thats when the curtain will fall
But Ill go all the way to the end of the play
Ill be a part of your masquerade
Although I know it may be the saddest show
In the life of a fool on parade

My Library

Like prim Professor of a College
I primed my shelves with books of knowledge;
And now I stand before them dumb,
Just like a child that sucks its thumb,
And stares forlorn and turns away,
With dolls or painted bricks to play.

They glour at me, my tomes of learning.
"You dolt!" they jibe; "you undiscerning
Moronic oaf, you make a fuss,
With highbrow swank selecting us;
Saying: "I'll read you all some day' -
And now you yawn and turn away.

"Unwanted wait we with our store
Of facts and philosophic lore;
The scholarship of all the ages
Snug packed within our uncut pages;
The mystery of all mankind
In part revealed - but you are blind.

"You have no time to read, you tell us;
Oh, do not think that we are jealous
Of all the trash that wins your favour,
The flimsy fiction that you savour:
We only beg that sometimes you
Will spare us just an hour or two.

"For all the minds that went to make us
Are dust if folk like you forsake us,
And they can only live again
By virtue of your kindling brain;
In magice print they packed their best:
Come - try their wisdom to digest. . . ."

Said I: "Alas! I am not able;
I lay my cards upon the table,
And with deep shame and blame avow
I am too old to read you now;
So I will lock you in glass cases
And shun your sad, reproachful faces."

* * * * * * * * *

My library is noble planned,
Yet in it desolate I stand;
And though my thousand books I prize,
Feeling a witling in their eyes,
I turn from them in weariness
To wallow in the Daily Press.

For, oh, I never, never will
The noble field of knowledge till:
I pattern words with artful tricks,
As children play with painted bricks,
And realize with futile woe,
Nothing I know - nor want to know.

My library has windowed nooks;
And so I turn from arid books
To vastitude of sea and sky,
And like a child content am I
With peak and plain and brook and tree,
Crying: "Behold! the books for me:
Nature, be thou my Library!"

The Hero And The Theif

I'll play the part of the hero,
You play the role of the thief.
With sword in hand
I take my stand.
I take my stand right here.

You played your part
And stole her heart
While the hero goes away.
But I'll return
To save the girl
When I come back some day.

I walk the longest road
Past castles and through time.
On my way home I'm coming
To save the world I left behind.
Years gone by as time fades away.
I'm longing for the day
That I return
Knowing that I've earned
To see her smiling face.

You've played your part
And stole her heart
While the hero was away.
Now I've returned
To save the girl
Banish you from today.

I've played my part as the hero
You've played your role as the thief.
I've saved the girl
And saved the world
The hero and the thief.

On The First Day Of This Year

new year.
the happy faces
in those
pictures in
Facebook

i hope
are not pretty lies.
most of the time
they are

on the first day of
this year
of the water dragon

we shall play a
new game
breathing fire

growing wood on
water
believing in
what is not credible

on the first hour
of this year
or even the hour before
that
you shall begin
disliking me

every part of me
but as a compromise
i will just
be sleeping.

The Window

Little Sophie sat by her window
on every single day,
just looking for someone
with whom she could play.

The streets were full of people
but none of them she knew.
She waved at them as they went by
and some of them waved too.

But they were busy people
going everywhere.
None of them had time for play,
no time to spare.

Her sisters and her brother
all went to school.
She could not go. She was only four
and that was against the rule.

So by the window Sophie sat
and one day someone smiled.
It was a mother passing by
with her little child.

And after several days of this
a knock came at her door.
It was the mother with her child
who also was just four.

The mother said 'My little one is lonely.
She needs a friend like you.'
So Sophie clapped her hands and said
'I know what we can do.'

And so they played for hours
and then her friend did say
'Can we sit by your window
and wave to people today? '
