Then, in 2000, John Reid, Elton John's former manager, asked me to audition for the stage version of The Graduate he was producing. So I worked on it, got the part, and after three weeks' rehearsal I was on stage!

Happiness in change of stages
I went on foot to far away school.
Then I rode on a bicycle with a pride.
Later two-wheeler took me to pedestal.
Now a car. In each stage I was happy.
In each stage the intensity was same.
Every up stage is a happy stage
till it is replaced by the next stage.

I hadn't worked for a year when I had my Prison Break audition and it was the easiest audition I've ever had. I got the script on Friday, went to the audition on Monday and got the part on Tuesday. I was shooting the pilot a week later. I didn't have time to be nervous - it happened so quickly.

Get Off The Stage
Oh, you silly old man
You silly old man
Youre making a fool of yourself
So get off the stage
You silly old man
In your misguided trousers
With your mascara and your fender guitar
And you think you can arouse us ?
But the song that you just sang
It sounds exactly like the last one
And the next one
I bet you it will sound
Like this one
Downstage, and offstage
Dont you feel all run in ?
And do you wonder when they will take it away ?
This is your final fling
But then applause ran high
But for the patience of the ones behind you
As a verse drags on like a month drags on
Its very short, but it seems very long
And the song that you just sang
It sounds exactly like the last one
And the next one
I bet you it will sound
Like this one
So, get off the stage
Oh, get off the stage
And when we get down off of the stage
Please stay off the stage - all day !
Get off the stage
Oh, get off the stage
And when weve had our money back
Then Id like your back in plaster
Oh, I know that you say
How age has no meaning
Oh, but here is your audience now
And theyre screaming :
Get off the stage
Oh, get off the stage
Because Ive given you enough of my time
And the money that wasnt even mine
Have you seen yourself recently ?
Oh, get off the stage
Oh, get off the stage
For whom, oh ...
For whom, oh ...
For whom, oh ...
For whom, oh ...
Get off the stage
Get off the stage
Get off the stage
For whom the bell tolls

Putting words on hold
some words, some elaborate words
they have not acquired a life
in my system, so they shall not have
the chance to grace my humble stage - the page
i reckon they are still in the makeup stage
bewildering over which colours
to choose for their cheeks, nails
as well as the most flamboyant
outfit to go with them all
until they claim a character
of their own, they shall be held
in silence behind the large red curtains
of my academic stage

We worked very hard to make the lyrics suit the music. I can't, like Elton John, for example, compose by lyrics. Elton has a great talent for that. Whatever you give him, including your questions, he composes in half an hour and makes a great song out of it.

You get all of your neuroses worked out on stage. I haven't actually played very many nice characters, certainly not on stage. It's not a quality that attracts me.

I have had the auditioning process go on for two weeks or three weeks. I am always incredibly anxious. The audition and the wait is definitely the hardest part for me.

We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.
There are many stages to a man's life. In the first stage, he is young and eager, like a beaver. In the second stage, he wants to build things, like dams, and maybe chew down some trees. In the third stage, he feels trapped, and then 'skinned.'' I'm not sure what the fourth stage is.

The Paper
the paper is a stage
for mind to act out
its dreams, draw
people to the possible
as well as the impossible
the paper could hold
the whole universe
on this stage is born
all the world's great
philosophers, builders
dramatists, musicians

Graduate, The
He has done the study
Sat all the exams
Handed in all his assignments
Now he is recognized
The walk across the stage
Long, but not long enough
We cheer and shed a tear
For our graduate
Now his future what will it be?
How will this knowledge help him?
Does he walk this stage again?
Its all up to him.

Reward and punishment
A jealous Othello, an innocent Desdemona,
And a villain Iago, all played their parts
As per the scripts and directions, on the stage.
No one was hailed; No one was jailed.
The world is the stage on which we take parts
As Othellos, Desdimonas and Iagos.
Reward and punishment by God is a myth.

The Chateau Disaster Tapes
A) scenario
In long years of ancient time, stood alone a friend of mine.
Reflected by the ever-burning sigh of a God who happened by.
And in the dawn, there came the song of some sweet lady singing in his ear.
Your God has gone, and from now on, youll have to learn to hate
The things you fear.
We want to know, are we inside the womb
Of passion plays, and by righteousness consumed?
Or just in lush contentment of our souls?
And so began the age of man.
They left his body in the sand.
Their glasses raised to a God on high
Who smiled upon them from the sky.
So take the stage. spin down the ages. loose the passion.
Spill the rage upon your son who holds the gun up to your head ---
The plays begun.
B) audition
Then god, the director, smells a rat.
Pulls another rabbit from his hat.
Sniffs the air and he says, ''well, thats that --- Im going.
The actors milling helplessly --- the script is blowing out to sea.
But what the hell, we didnt even pass an audition.
The lines youll have to improvise. the words are written in
The eyes of politicians who despise their fathers.
And so the play necessitates that all you boys participate
In fierce competition to eliminate each other.
And groupies, on their way to war,
Get to write the next film score.
But the rock and roll star knows his glory is really nothing.
Men of religion, on the make,
Pledge an oath they undertake to
Make you white for gods own sake, and none other.
While ladies get their bedding done
To win themselves a bouncing son ---
But bad girls do it for the fun of just being.
And me, Im here to sing along,
And Im not concerned with the righting wrongs,
Just asking questions that belong without an answer.
The God is laughing up his sleeve
As he pours himself another cup of tea,
And he waves goodbye to you and me,
At least for now.
C) no rehearsal
Did you learn your lines today? well, there is no rehearsal.
The tickets have all been sold for tomorrows matinee.
Theres a telegram from the writer,
But there is no rehearsal.
The electrician has been told to make the spotlights brighter.
Theres one seat in the circle --- five hundred million in the stalls.
Simply everyone will be there, but the safety curtain falls when
The bomb thats in the dressing room
Blows the windows from their frames.
And the prompter in his corner is sorry that he came.
Did you learn your lines today? well there is no rehearsal.
The interval will last until the ice-cream lady melts away.
The twelve piece orchestra are here, but there is no rehearsal.
The first violinists hands are chilled --- hes gone deaf in both ears.
Well, the scenery is colourful, but the paint is so damn thin.
You see the wall behind is crumbling,
And the stage door is bricked-in.
But the audience keep arriving
'till theyre standing in the wings.
And we take the final curtain call, and the ceiling crashes in.

Love is elastic
I set a scene for my heroine to stage her reappearance,
And insisted on doing it ere my short-while exit,
To that she, propelled by her modesty, feigned her reluctance,
That left me high and dry. I left with rage for missing the chance.
She came to the stage only on my return and soothed my glance.
I am back to the game. She threw me not to oblivion.
Love has elasticity;
No need of anxiety

Another day to remember
That day is the day with rebound of joy.
She waited as I told, and had my call.
The same flavour was in her talk, I saw.
Her love hasn’t gone stale by time and space.
To love out of contest, one is contrite.
To leave any evidence, one is afraid.
The stage of guilt, she has passed.
The stage of qualm she is yet to pass.
Whether the qualm withers or not
Let the summer come to wilt it out.
